Erin Wade's historical lesbian novel is set in West Texas where cattle & oil were king and men were masters of their fate. A woman didn't have a chance of making it in the straight shooting, fast riding, hard drinking world of the Texas cowboy or did she?
A novel about a love so forbidden it wasn't even whispered. A heroine so unlikely she wasn't believed. Wade's newest novel scorches the Texas badlands and runs over hearts like a herd of Texas Longhorns.
This action-packed thriller will remind you why Erin Wade is the #1 International Bestselling Lesbian author in the action/adventure field. Almost too hot to handle.
With a degree in accounting, I set out to conquer my quiet little corner of the world. My plan was to work for a major accounting firm and live a comfortable life. One never knows where fate will lead. I soon discovered I liked taking chances and started acquiring small parcels of land to resale. Within a year, I found myself immersed in the fun of land brokering. My native state, Texas, is a wide-open community of wonderful people and vast amounts of land. Opportunities in Texas are limitless. Texas and the fact that I am a workaholic were the perfect recipe for success. I have visited every state in the U.S. and lived in some, but Texas is always the one that calls me home. I thought I had the world by the tail; a nice little ranch that bordered a Texas lake, a horse and a few head of cattle. Life was good. Then I met a woman and life was no longer good, it was amazing. Now my life is an adventure of love and laughter. My partner encouraged me to begin writing. I published my first book in 2014 and have been successful in the Mystery/Suspense genre. Too Strong to Die is my first gay book. I am proud to say that after one week, on 2/1/2017, it is the #1 (Paid) Lesbian book on Amazon. Thank you so much for making it happen. Please let me hear from you. Should I continue writing for our community or stick with my Mystery/Suspense books?
DNF 25%. I'd be stung with an Erin Wade book before, and so I was hesitant to try another but figure it was on sale, so I'd give it a go - plus I have a keen interest in lesbian westerns. But damn I should have listened to my gut instinct.
This book suffers the same issues I had with Kidnapped Hearts where it focuses on details that are unimportant, and leaving off the things that you actually DO want to know in order to make the mundane interesting. Then just info-dump telling you stuff, without showing you, and you have no real emotional connection to any of the characters, their situations, or their interpersonal relationships.
It also focuses entirely too much on men and straight relationships. This is a lesbian book. WHY?
There is also a freaky weird thing happening between the male and female siblings, where it's constantly referenced that they love each other more than a brother and sister should, and she even references the Egyptian Gods Osiris and Isis as being siblings but also lovers. WTF?
The same sister is also off kissing some other mysterious man in the dark, who we never get his name.
Then there's a THIRD dude that is interested in her, and wants to propose. SO WHAT THE ACTUAL???
I question as to why this author is a proclaimed as a 'best selling' lesbian author when she constantly seems to have very straight characters and situations in her books. (That's twice now, people!) Who the heck is writing her rave reviews? I'm more than suspicious now, and so I will be avoiding future books from this author.
I did not enjoy this book but I gave it a second star because I did finish it. The woman-as-man charade went on for far too long, there was strange and unnecessary incest (I'm not opposed in general, but this didn't work) and ENDLESS infidelity. The sex scenes were amateurish and involved phrases like pumping it and incredible breasts. I read this book due to its popularity and I am confused.
Sooo many twists, turns, and surprises! Loved it!!
First, it’s refreshing to read a book that doesn’t distract me with grammatical and spelling errors! I only found 2 in the entire book! Lol, so start looking! Bravo!!!! Secondly, it was the most fast-paced book I’ve ever read. Yahoo!!!! Thirdly, it’s not packed with pages full of stupid adjectives used to make her book bigger. This author gets to. The. Point. I love that!!!! Lastly, the twists and turns and surprises...you won’t see the next one coming, I promise. I Stayed up the entire night because I could not stop reading. Trust me, you’ll thank me! Way to go Erin, job well done!!
I’ve described this author’s books as ‘Bonkers’ before and this lifts things to a whole new level of ‘Bonkerness’! One thing that’s very much in the author’s favour is that she knows how to hook a reader and her plots tend to move at a pretty frenetic pace. The characters and plot in this are just bizarre; enough said. But you find yourself continuing to read just because you’re wondering how it’s all going to play out..especially how Morgan and Kristen are going to work their way out of the conundrum they find themselves in!
Well Started this book thinking I'll just read for an hour 3 1/2 hrs later 12:30am I finally finished it. 5* are not enough so many twists and turns a definite must read if you have never read one of Erin's books make this your first you won't be disappointed it's simply unputdownable (is this a real word or should there be spaces).
Morgan was the heir to a vast Texas cattle ranch and took care of the business and the family. As one of the most successful and handsome men in Texas she was pursued by every woman in the area. Summoned to California to rescue his half-sister, he bring Kristen back to the ranch. An adventurous story and romance from the fabulous Erin Wade.
Story I was expecting. Love the characters and other than the main ones I love Shanghai the best. Great story line, great characters and the plot twists you can count on Erin Wade for.
I have read this book at least four times and still love reading it. I’ve said before that I love westerns and this is no exception, brilliant writing, well researched and still remains my number one book. A must read for those that love westerns.
