The Truth About Fujiko the Homicidal Manic: Interview in Cell is my first ever Yukiko Mari's novel and it lives right up to the praises it has received.

The story is loosely based on an infamous true crime case of a couple imprisoning, torturing and eventually killing a group of men and women in an apartment in a suburban region (it is shocking that people were trapped and tortured for so long and yet no one seemed to notice it).

In the story, the prime suspect of the mass murder case had been released due to lack of evident whilst his girlfriend took all the blame and committed suicide in prison. After the trail was over and the prime suspect walked free, the suspect's mother (not only her son is a murder suspect, this woman is also the foster mother of Fujiko, the serial murderer from the prequel) suddenly announced she would allow medias to interview her in her apartment (in where the mass murder most likely took place). Seeing the woman's invitation as a prime opportunity to make a shocking, sensational headline, a crew of reporters rushed to the rundown town where the woman lived and tried to interview her and dug up more insider-information of this infamous mass murder case...only to find things might not be as simple as they first appeared to be...and they might very well be walking right into a trap.

It is a very dark, crazy story and I like how realistic the characters and the plots look like (although I do have problem with a famed script writer is willing to throw away her life and kills the sadistic prime suspect and his mother in order to protect one of the tortured victims), and the impassive tone the author had used does make the whole thing look even more believable. I also appreciate how the author writes her characters, their motivations and the different mindsets of both psychopaths and victims ("No one else cares about public opinion and the society more than psychopaths, habitual lairs and mentally ill people, that is why they have to lie about themselves and harm those people who dare to question their image of perfection.
, etc), I also love the prime suspect's dark, twisted backstory. 4.75 stars.

Final Words: Getting into a car with a murder suspect really is a stupid move. Girls, be warned!

依舊是《北九州監禁殺人事件》的發想旅程，這案件給我的心理陰影超大的～～

其實我是為了看這本才先去讀《殺人鬼藤子的衝動》的，畢竟東西沒有從頭看就渾身不對勁，
加上我對於報導文學（即使是偽報導文學）有迷戀，
所以看到2/3時忍不住在推特上給了五星，畢竟他裡面那個記者墮入的過程寫得很帶感，這才是我想要看到的關於《北九州監禁殺人事件》的心理探討，
我對於反轉到沒那麼有興趣，我甚至希望你們這些號稱社會派的應該要好好得描寫一個完整的結局啊～～

而不是在那反轉反轉轉個不停的，他X的又不是旋轉木馬。

只是後來過幾天後想想還是扣了一顆星，他沒有我在狂喜時的那麼優秀，
後面的進度像是電影放映時間要到了般狂趕進度得飆車（到底是在趕三小？你們出版社是有頁數限制嗎？），
而且三個記者有一個我根本就不知道出來幹嘛的，很多伏筆沒解，最後還試圖把一個可憐人賴成大魔王～～

我討厭那種企圖製造未知焦慮的惡意感，你們應該要好好已成悲劇的歷程啊！！別再一直恐嚇別人尚未發生的惡意來攤平你們整個現代社會所要面對的罪惡感了啊～～～～

前作情节已交待完整，自然的留白。这本书把留白全部填死，没什么必要。
除去补完前作，情节比较单薄，改编北九州事件，虚构还是完全弱于非虚构。

一如前作，要到最後一頁才翻盤。不過這本沒有前作的暗黑，結局也沒有前作那麼餘味欠佳，但最後的翻盤也不若前作那樣令人震驚。就情節而言，還是不錯的作品——只是不明為何其中的人那樣容易受操控，有點莫明其妙。
