Karma's Revenge #5

Karma's Collection

Rate this book
It’s an all-out final battle on memory lane, as Clue Queen pursues the clever serial killer: Karma. With his extra collection of Karma-style pranks, and courtroom twisters, this ‘righteous psychopath’ has criminals escaping to jail by choice!

7 years since her last detective case, with a sidekick of doubt, can Dedra outsmart the pattern of what-goes-around and come-around to her own separate path of redemption? A new marriage, a new divorce, and a present scandal heightens the already high whodunit range: Smart Alec, The Shenanigans, Judge Mintall, Wendal, and even the Clue Queen herself!

Will Dedra still ‘remember to forget?’ And will Karma’s prank victims like Tom Peepin and the evasive John Doe receive justice? And should they? Karma’s Collection is a cozy boomerang adventure of mystery, ethics, betrayal, redemption, and psychology where ‘awareness has to win.’

*This eBook functions both as a stand-alone mystery and Book 5 in the Karma’s Revenge series.

I did like this audio book but I think I needed to start at the beginning of the series to get all the back story on the characters, which would have made this more enjoyable and easier to follow. It is a quirky mystery that had me wondering what was going on. The story jumps from therapy sessions with two estranged sisters as they try to work out there relationship and the solving on several murder cases. It isn't the normal run of of the mill mystery book as there wasn't any questioning of suspects and it was more looking at old cases and the follow up of clues they got from bad guys as they turned themselves in. There is a lot of characters (maybe to many?) all with what I take to be nicknames. I think a longer book might have been better to explain a few things but otherwise an interesting twist to a mystery.
Dedra has turned her back on acting to return to her sister and a job she loves, police work. Her first case on her return is a serial killer calling himself Karma, for the last three years ever Halloween there has been a death and with it once again fast approaching the police is gearing up for another one. But does everybody want him stopped? The killer targets killer, bullies and child abusers themselves and the price is the same cruel deaths as there victims suffered. Unless they confess to a crime they didn't commit. With wrong doers willing to go to jail to get away from Karma can Dedra stop him?
I liked the use of sound effects in this recoding like school bells or knocking on doors but the narrator wasn't the best and I couldn't always tell which character was meant to be speaking.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

OKAY

This was book #5 in the series and i it’s kinda quirky trying to figure out the characters and their relationship… My suggestion is to just start with the first one so that the storyline doesn’t seem so complicated and out of focus.
