Everyone wants to be with an adult film star. They clearly don’t know Liam Hardy like I do.
Red: At first Liam was just a regular at the bar, and I was the clueless cowboy bartender keeping his glass full… then keeping him full in my bed at night. I had no idea he was about to blossom into a famous adult film star.
But he ripped through me like a storm, losing himself in reckless partying until I had to walk away. I left and opened my bar, Red’s Tavern, here in the middle of nowhere, Kansas.
I never expected to see Liam--all stormy-eyed, tattooed, and smoking hot--show up at my bar now, ten years after we’d cut things off. And it gets worse: he’s asking me to film an adult video with him for his new company. Two words: Hell. No. No matter how hot it sounds to ride in that rodeo again. No matter how much I want to fix that loneliness I’m noticing in his eyes.
My bar is the only boyfriend I need, and I’m plenty happy with my dogs, my old-west house, and my friends.
But I couldn’t help but kiss him. And now I’m aching for him and letting him film videos of me, doing things I’d never dreamed.
And I remember how perfectly we used to fit together, body and soul. Liam’s always been the only one who could get to me...
Like we were made to light each other the hell up.
I think I'm done with this author for a while. This story just didn't work for me. I'm not a fan of porn stars in romance, and the fact that Liam went from porn actor to porn producer had me rolling my eyes. It was just so damn predictable.
There was so much info dumping about Red and Liam's past relationship. Nothing about it was subtle. And, frankly, Liam had some fucking nerve just showing up out of the blue like that.
Plus, considering the porn star aspect, the sex was lukewarm. The ending was weak too.
Also, don't get me started on the utter bullshit that was Liam's "recovery." I've lived with an alcoholic and have a recovering drug addict in my family. It's not that simple, and it's certainly not easy. Celebrating with virgin drinks at a bar, my ass. Recovering alcoholics can't go anywhere near a bar for years.
Besides all that, this book was totally expected, formulaic, blah; can't recommend.
blurb:everyone wants to be with an adult film star me: oh how did you know 😳😘
[2.4-2.5* maybe??] i keep jumping between 2 and 3 stars so i'll round up. tbh i actually liked the author's writing style, but the execution fell short for me on some major fronts, like the blatant lack of withdrawal symptoms in the following months after quitting alcohol/drugs cold turkey (despite a 10 year history of abuse), very little groveling, major conflicting signals from one of the mcs, the supposed vindictive ex who randomly gives up mid-chase, etc.
suspending your belief might do the trick but it was too late for me 😆
As I started this series with #5 book, I wanted to know more about Red and Liam story, but at the end finished it a little disappointed. I loved #5 book much more. This story dragged a little bit and basically nothing happened. You are gonna like it if you like second chance no-angst love stories.
I did not expect a book about a pornstar to be so sweet and somehow feel innocent.
There are some darker themes (massive trigger warning for drug addiction and alcoholism), but they never actually feel too dark. I could have actually used a little more darkness. I wanted there to be more tension between Red and Liam. They broke each other’s hearts and were separated for 10 years! It felt way too easy for them to just come back together. The emphasis was definitely on their sexual chemistry too. I wish there had been more depth there.
This author handled the porn industry strangely. It was so back and forth on porn being a job and avoiding shame, but then would make it clear that the porn industry damaged one of the MCs and he was only in it because of his childhood trauma. I didn’t quite know how to take it all. It felt realistic, but the messaging was so back and forth I’m not sure I took anything away from it.
I liked the story and this author is an engaging writer. The characters weren’t exactly bland, but something was missing from them. I really loved the characters in the previous book and I’m so excited for Perry and Rock’s book!
I think I know what to expect from this author going forward. These are sugary sweet books with some sort of darker/deeper theme that’s only addressed lightly, there’s some tension but minimal angst, and the sex scenes are so good.
Liam ♥ Red This is a second chance love story about two people finding their way back together after ten years and battling all the baggage they bring with them. These two had put each other, and most importantly, me, through heartache time, and time again.
It’s the second in the series; but can easily be read as I did and enjoy it as a standalone.
Liam ♥ I completely fell in love with Liam, but he was so very, very broken. He made you want to wrap him up in a warm, fluffy blanket, cuddle and protect him from the world that had treated him so badly. He moved away from his toxic life in LA to try and start over in nowhere, Kansas. He ran to the only place and person that ever made him feel safe, Red. He tries, so very desperately to stay sober and make good decisions, be a responsible adult in the only way he knows how. I was very proud of him throughout the book. He struggled to forgive himself for everything he’d done in his past and heal from everything done to him.
It really bothered me how his addiction and sobriety was handled though. First, why would you even consider putting a recovering alcoholic in a bar? Second, the alcohol withdrawal was not accurately depicted, and it scares me that someone could read this and think that they would be okay. Please research better. Someone with a severe, ten-year alcoholism history would not recover without significant withdrawal symptoms, and should not attempt recovery alone. Withdrawal from alcohol, as severely depicted in Liam’s case, can possibly kill you without medical supervision. It happens. I’ve seen it. It's what I do.
PSA over. Moving on.
Red. Red, was just, God he infuriated the ever-living hell out of me.
The two of them were so good together….and so very, very bad. The love you feel between the two of them is palpable, but neither one of them can get out of their own way long enough to repair it. Even though he says it, Red can’t seem to forget the addict he repeatedly had to put back together and see the man he’d grown into. Which can be hard, granted, so I'll give him a pass on that one. Addiction is difficult for everyone involved. He was so used to having to constantly save him, that he had a hard time trusting him. Neither of them could seem to forgive and forget long enough to build something new.
So many times, he’d give off all these confusing vibes. First he wanted Liam, then he didn’t. It was just sex, but it wasn’t. I felt as though he led Liam on SO many times. He’d be just what Liam needed, then ten seconds later, he’d shove his foot in his mouth and wreck everything. Ugh!
Throughout all of this, Liam is hanging by his fingernails, struggling to remain sober.
Despite its flaws, I enjoyed it, probably more for Liam than anything else. I fell in love with him, as I tend to do with stories about broken men. The last 25-ish% saved it I think. I loved the last ten percent or so. I was reading with a big grin and hearts in my eyes when they finally pulled their heads out and admitted that they needed each other
This storyline is a little higgledy piggledy and I wanted a bit more from it but overall this a sweet, low-angst second chance story. It deals with some darker themes like addiction/alcoholism/porn industry/emotionally abusive ex-partner but in a low angst, light way with a generally positive feel. I appreciate that it’s not a depressing read or filled with unnecessary angst but I do think things were resolved a little too easily and the storyline jumped around a bit randomly at times. I was hoping to really get into this series as I like interconnected characters in a long series however I don’t think this is the right style of book for me at the moment, but I may come back to it.
[I received a digital copy for an honest review] The Rebel is the second stand alone in Raleigh Ruebins' Red's Tavern series. A second chance romance between two men with an undeniable connection.
Ten years ago Red and Liam were in deep but their relationship wasn't healthy for either of them. Liam became a porn star and got lost in the party scene. Red walked away after coming close to losing Liam because of alcohol and drugs too many times. Red settled in Kansas and opened Red Tavern but never forgot about Liam. Now Liam is trying to escape his LA life and start over fresh. He's hoping for a second chance at friendship with Red and help kick starting his own porn company.Red doesn't want to open his heart agian, but he can't fight the attraction and feelings between them no matter how much he fights it. "It's strange when you don't know if you're claiming someone or if they're claiming you with a kiss."
Second chance romances only work for me when the couple has a legit reason for not working the first time (I hate the miscommunication plot line) and in The Rebel Liam and Red definitely had a good reason for parting ways in the past. Amidst the pain and heartbreak the bond the formed never faded. My heart broke for Liam and all his insecurities and self-doubt. It made me happy that, no matter what, Red's instincts were to take care of him. The two of them were perfect together. Red in all his frozen loving cowboy sexiness and Liam with his rowdy pup and gardening obsession. "How could one person so single-handedly drive me insane?"
I enjoyed The Rebel more than the first book in the Red's Tavern series and I know without a doubt I am going to enjoy the next one just as much . The joy of small town romances is the growing excitement for each character to get their HEA as you get to know them.
Second chance romance is one of my favorite kind of stories and this is an amazing book. I fell in love with Red in book one (because the Def Leppard song) and I couldn't wait to read his story. Liam is not an easy guy to love, with lots of emotional baggage (porn, drugs, alcohol, abusive relationship) but Red can´t stop loving and care for him. The side characters are amazing, specially Sam. Can't wait to read Perry and Rock's story. I loved this book even more than the first one
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review
Red is owner of Red's Bar, a gay bar in rural Kansas. He's more or less happy and a lone wolf-type who is unattached. One night, an old boyfriend, Liam, walks in the bar and all bets are off. The two had a hot love affair ten years before, while living in LA. Liam was a successful porn star living a wild and crazy party life and one day Red had to end it rather than watch Liam bottom out. Now, Liam is clean and sober, escaping LA, and ready to try to renew a friendship with Red. Can these two start over and even hope for something more? This book is noteworthy for its lack of judgment of sex workers and the deep, loving relationship between these two men who have been hurt in the past, but still remain hopeful for a second chance at love.
This is a slow burn second chance romance between Red and Liam. Their characters are strong and the story is well developed. The author does a great job taking them from the past lovers to enemies then reconnecting with each other after a ten year separation. He brings tons of emotion and anxiety and delivers a well written book with detailed and descriptive writing. I enjoyed and would recommend this book. Well done!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is a modern romance, the second book in the “Red’s Tavern “ series which should be read in order. This was such a sex positive book in the end and a rather enjoyable read overall!
This is a second book in Red's Tavern series but it can be read as a standalone. This is Red and Liam's story.
It is very sweet and very angsty story with A LOT of sex (and talking about it). As much as I LOVE COWBOYS (who doesn't??) and porn stars this time there was too much of everything. There was a great chemistry between Liam and Red, I liked Red's friends (especially Perry) and his small town. I have to admit that I had difficulties to get into the story, there wasn't enough action in the beginning, characters were kinda boring and I just got BORED out of my mind. It got better with time. After the first 30% I got curious what will happen and I couldn't put it down. The story is interesting and super hot.
It is a sweet book with a nice happy ending. Raleigh Ruebins succeeded in making me emotional in the end and I need to read Rock and Perry's book. They deserve their HEA as well :)
* I was gifted an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review *
Well damn, a lot of emotional turmoil in this book but a strong physical connection from the start. Immediately, I felt the hurt between Red and Liam with everything that they went through together a few years ago and it's still strong, especially for Red. Feelings for each other have stayed for the whole time they've been separated but the negative ones definitely had more of an impact on Red and how he's moved on with his life. Liam is striving to be better and has removed himself from the toxic situation and relationship that he has found himself in. Wanting to be better and move on with his life, he's found Red in Kansas and is looking to reach out and get help. Their first meeting does not go to plan for him but their attraction is still red hot (pardon the pun). I couldn't help but get attached and invested as the two men learned about each other all over again, adding in what they've been through whilst apart and also what they were experiencing when they were together but Liam was too out of it to really pay attention. What they start to build is a more clean and healthy relationship that works for both of them though they are still extremely scared of the possibility of things going wrong. It allows them both to feel good and cared for in a way that they both deserve. It is hard going at times, past habits are hard to fight but you can really feel how proud they both are as the hard work brings happiness to their lives that they haven't experienced in this way before. I found it admirable how Liam wants to use his past experience working as a porn star and take that behind the scenes to build a better company that treats those stars as people rather than commodities. Red's character is great, he's built a real family feel in his bar. His staff clearly mean a lot to him as do the patrons and he wants the best bar he can build, definitely for himself just as much as for those people. The two men are hot together, both for themselves when onscreen but together as well. There is a hot chemistry there and you can really feel how much they care for each other. My one little niggle is that Liam's ex was, throughout the book, a negative force who had been using him and putting bad stuff out about him but the way the situation was resolved kind of fell a little flat as I was expecting this big thing to happen. But, personally for Liam, I think that part came after as he instead has the battle with himself. I loved getting Red's story and Liam is a great match for him. Reading their history was hard in places but definitely worth it for the outcome. Just as a warning, there is talk about past drug and alcohol abuse. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
I enjoyed this book and enjoyed it better than the first book, Ten years ago Red and Liam were together but things didn’t end great. Liam became a p*rn star like he’d wanted but his partying got out of hand. Red was having to constantly pick him up off the floor after blacking after drinking too much, as well as taking dr*gs. Red left after Liam’s drinking and dr*g use nearly cost him his life. Red left LA and moved to Kansas and opened Red’s Tavern like he’d always dreamed. Liam’s had enough on his life in LA and decides to settle in Kansas to try and rekindle his friendship with the only man who has ever made him feel safe Red.
I thought Liam’s dependence on alcohol and dr*gs was handled weirdly. Yes, it explained the struggle but he quit cold turkey after 10 years of constant abuse and to be able to walk into Red’s to try and talk to Red after being sober only a month like it was nothing. It’s going to be a lifelong struggle. I liked that Liam found gardening as a coping mechanism for when he’s struggling and he calls his best friend Katie when he’s really bad so at least he has her support. What about rehab, AA or even just some medical advice as withdrawal symptoms can end up k*lling you if they’re that bad. I really wanted to hug Liam and never let go, he was such a sweetheart and oh so broken. I didn’t like that Red was playing with his emotions, he was all over the place and giving him mixed signals.
Liam’s ex was a complete a*sehole and I’m really glad that Liam got away from all that. I really think if Liam wasn’t constantly drunk or high he wouldn’t have put up with being constantly cheated on. P*rn stars, str*ppers and pr*stitutes still have the same rights over themselves as everyone else. Their bodies are still their own even if they get paid to show it off or paid to have s*x whether it‘ s on film or not. It doesn’t give anyone the right to touch them without their permission or take expl*cit photos that they took in private or without their knowledge and post them on the internet. Just like Liam’s ex did. Liam wasn’t really worried about the photos since he does p*rn but it was more his ex’s betrayal than anything. I’m looking forward to reading Perry and Red’s brother Rock’s story next. I’d definitely recommend this book series and author to everyone.
Trigger warnings for some childhood trauma, emotional abuse, substance abuse & alcoholism being discussed, etc. I enjoyed the story, but I thought we’d get more of the friends and family. Red talked about going to his mom’s on a Sunday afternoon but then weeks passed without seeing that happen. They eventually went once, but not until like 2/3 of the way through the book. We saw the guys from Red’s Tavern a few times, but honestly the book was basically just focused on Red and Liam. We didn’t even really see the dogs except a couple times, which kind of upset me; I love animals in books.
This definitely had some sad, deep, darker moments due to Liam’s past between his bad childhood and also substance abuse/alcoholism. The porn thing was kind of a subplot, but it wasn’t as prevalent as I thought it would be. We only saw them shoot one video together. It mentioned some other videos being filmed, but we didn’t see it happen. This had a bit of an age gap with 8 years or so between the two main characters. It was also a second chance romance since these two dated a decade ago.
We saw Mitch from book 1 a handful of times but only saw his boyfriend briefly once. Sam was funny and delightful as usual. I didn’t remember Perry from the first book, but I liked him a lot. I liked meeting Red’s brother Rock too. I would have liked seeing more of Liam’s friend Katie. We saw her once and Liam talked to her a few times, but it didn’t feel like they were best friends. Overall I would say this was a good book. It made me emotional at times, but I was a little disappointed based on assumptions due to the summary. Probably 3 out of 5 stars for this.
The Rebel by Raleigh Ruebins is a tender second chance romance with a chance for redemption. The second book in the Red's Tavern series, it is easily read as a standalone.
Liam knows he was wrong in the past, but he's back to see Red again. Liam's struggling to find himself, after years of losing his identity in porn and alcohol. I love that he's learning to live without alcohol. His struggles are realistic and well explored. I also enjoy his love of flowers.
As for Red, he's the owner of Red's Tavern and he's given up on love and sex. His whole focus is on keeping his struggling bar afloat.
Both men are troubled and the connection they develop is one that can save them. Their reunion isn't easy and forgiveness is not instant. But the attraction remains and the chemistry is still strong. I love these guys, both individually and together.
Their story includes family issues and finding a life one actually values. It includes and asshole of an ex, a bar that needs a re-do, and a supportive best friend. And most of all, a romantic second chance at love.
I love the writing except for the dialogue. There are far too many "he said"s. That drives me crazy. Other than that, I love the author's ability to tell an intriguing story. The characters are well developed, flaws and all, and their journey is wonderful.
The Rebel is a great story. This Raleigh Ruebins book is full of heart and has some fantastic character growth. Liam and Red's journey is perfect for anyone looking to lose themselves in a beautiful second chance romance.
This series is called Red's Tavern, and now we get Red's story.
Red is a 38 year old Tavern owner who loves to dress like a cowboy, gyrate his hips to Def Leppard, and take care of his customers and employees. But when the door opens on a random night and in walks Liam Hardy, well known gay 🌽 star, Red wants absolutely nothing to do with him.
Why? Cuz Red and Liam were together a decade ago, and Red couldn't compete with Liam's drug and alcohol dependency. As much as he loved the younger man, he needed to get away. So he left L.A. and came to Kansas to start his bar, never expecting to see Liam again.
Now Liam is back, much to the excitement of Sam, Red's loud and proud bartender. Liam left California a month ago after finally dumping his cheating and manipulative boyfriend, Colin. Liam is also clean now, something he struggles with every day.
But since he has walked away from his lucrative 🌽 career as well, he has needed something to comfort him. Something from the past. Someone like...Red.
Red can't get sucked into Liam's orbit again. He needs to make his way on his own. But when a tornado hits the tavern, Liam offers Red a way to make money for the repairs: do a 🌽 video. Red agrees, but makes it clear that sex is the only thing that can ever be between them. He cannot get sucked into Liam again.
What could possibly go wrong?
This one was definitely more angsty than the first one, but I really enjoyed it. It was nice to see the gruff bar owner show his softer side.
💞Second chance in Kansas, tornados and all: good ensemble with steam and gardening?!🌹
I was drawn into the story by a strong opening as Liam walks back into bar owner Red's life to stir things up after a painful separation ten years earlier. While I liked leads Red and Liam and the crew at Red's Tavern, I felt the last numbered chapter did more to foreshadow the next book in the series than it added to their story. Then the epilogue went back to focus on Red and Liam but the momentum had been interrupted.
I am a fan of the author's works. This one was good but not great for me, maybe because the angst is very low key. There's good 💦 steam and plenty of emotional soul searching. Both guys are out and proud but have issues with trusting their heart rather than using a tumultuous past together to block chances for an improved present. Liam's backstory and reformation made him a bit of a tragic figure looking for a savior; who would have suspected he'd find one in the land of Dorothy and Toto! And thank goodness the villain only flies in on a brief visit from La la Land and then climbs back on his broomstick!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
So book one wasn't amazing and then this one just... I'm not sure why I read it... You see, I read some of the reviews and I somehow wanted to prove them to be just too harsh but they sadly weren't.
I was excited about Red's story, I really wanted him to have his happily ever after, but a porn star? Ok... let's not judge, porn stars are people too. He was parting pretty hard and just decided, one day after watching his boyfriend cheating on him for the nth time (apparently this was normal in their relationship), without help after 10 years of being a junkie and an alcoholic, he decides to leave him and being clean. He enters a bar (one month after he decided to go clean) to reach his ex because he wants to film him in a porn video, after said ex broke up with him because of his addictions and self-destructive behavior but he is cool being there... Just no... I mean, to each his own but let's be reasonable here, this just shows that the author couldn't be bothered to investigate a little about addictions and has NO idea about what she is writing. In this case? I think the story would have been better if she had stuck with what she does know.
Still, if you don't pay attention to the story, the writing is pretty good.
This was such a sweet story about two, lonely men, potentially getting a second chance to get it right.
Ten years ago, Liam and Red meant everything to each other. Their chemistry was magnetic, until one day it became toxic. Red had to walk away, brokenhearted, and Liam stayed behind, in LA, fulfilling his dreams of being a porn star. Red was supportive of Liams career; it was the drugs and the constant drinking that was the problem. After ten years went by, Liam knew he needed out, and it needed to be now. He just hoped Red wouldn’t turn him away.
I read this book in less than 12 hours. It was captivating and tugged at all of my heartstrings. Red and Liam were easy to like and root for. It was hard to watch them struggle. The way the book was written had me easily picturing the story as it played out, and I could feel what they did.
This was book two in the series, but could easily be read as a stand alone. I, for one, am looking forward to book three. I have mu suspicions who it’s going to be about, and I cannot wait to find out!
***I voluntarily accepted an ARC from Gay Romance Reviews. My review reflects my own thoughts and opinions***
Our cowboy Red, got his book and I only had to wait until book two! And damn was his story entertaining. He’s just happily living his life with his bar, his friends and his two dogs Elsa & Anna - yep, this man loves Frozen 😂
So yeah he’s happy, content.. then in walks Liam Hardy, a blast from the past right on into his bar. One of the most recognisable Gay porn stars ever 🤩
The year they spent together in LA was tumultuous to say the least.. Liam caught up in the fame turned to partying, drugs and a whole array of destructive behaviour. Red couldn’t keep putting his pieces back together again so he left LA and Liam behind.
It’s years later and these two trying to skirt around their feelings whilst trying their hardest to fight what I’m gonna say is unquestionable chemistry is such a fun little ride.
Liam is asking Red to star in some porn for him and Red is trying to keep his distance whilst at the same time fighting the pull they have.
I’m loving this series, it’s light and fun and just a real good time. I wouldn’t say you have to read in order.. book one’s couple didn’t feature much in this one.
This lovely second-chance romance is the second in the Red's Tavern series. I fell in love with Red in book one (because the $10 song) but I think I wanted more from this book than I got. The characters were well-developed: I love the sweet way Red and Liam look out for each other, and the supporting characters are engaging, as always. The pace was okay, it didn't feel like any scenes dragged for too long and nothing felt repetitive. I just felt it was a bit unrealistic to expect Liam to maintain his sobriety without therapy or AA or rehab, considering the depth of his addiction prior to the events in the novel; I'm not a big fan of love as the saviour: sobriety is difficult, ongoing work and if you don't treat the causes, relapse is pretty common. It's not impossible to do it on your own but it's unusual, which just made it a bit harder for me to fully commit to the story as it doesn't feel like Liam works through any of the reasons he started drinking/using in the first place.
I was intrigued by Red in book 1, and I was excited to see what his story was because there was definitely history there. And as soon as he lays eyes on Liam again, it's pretty obvious where that history comes from. Liam and Red were in deep years ago until Liam's venture into fame tore them apart. Neither has obviously ever got over the other though, and the connection hasn't faded at all during their time apart. I felt bad for both Red and Liam - they both went through a tonne of hurt in their past and all Liam wants is to make things right, not just with Red, but also with himself. I loved seeing Liam slowly work to build a place where he belongs and a life he is proud of. Both characters are really likeable and I felt that they had a really believable and heartfelt second chance romance.
Slow burn, second chance, hurt/comfort, recovering addict, former abusive relationships, money woes, small town, adult film star(s)
If any of those keywords sound good to you, you'll probably love this book. It was a little slow for me and was a little too "one step forward, two steps back, say one thing and do another" for me. I liked it but I didn't love it. Though this is book two in the series, it does stand alone and you don't have to read the first before reading this one. There's no reason not to, though, since as I recall the first is a light-hearted best friends to lovers with very little angst, and was slightly more to my taste. This one was a little too indecisive and angsty for me.
Bottom line: Nothing special here but would read the next in the series.
Liam is a smoking hot porn star that has finally hit rock bottom. He hides behind pills and alcohol and is in an unhealthy relationship with a guy that belittles him so much he's starting to believe it. Red fell for Liam 10 years ago but couldn't stay and watch him destroy himself. He's been living a quiet life in Kansas with his 2 dogs and a bar he loves to be owner of since then...it's not easy but it's his. The last thing he was expecting at his bar was Liam....who looked even better now than he did 10 years ago. Why is he here and why does seeing him make Red's body take notice? This book had comedy, steamy sex, and the sweetest second chance romance. You just want to pull Liam into a big hug and never let him go!!
What happens when the one man you could never forget walks into your bar after 10 years with a proposition for a porn video? Well at first you kick him out, which is exactly what Red does. Red escaped the constant emotionally toxic and draining relationship that he had with Liam in L.A. and found peace in the middle of Kansas. He has his own tavern, his family/friends and his two dogs, but he doesn’t have real happiness. He has convinced himself that he doesn’t need what (and who)he left behind 10 years ago, but Liam is back and stirring up old feelings. Liam is trying to make amends, remain sober and start his own porn production company. What else would an infamous porn star do, right? But, after he hesitates uploading the video Red made for him d/t his jealousy and desire to keep Red all to himself, he realizes that what he wants is Red back in his life for good. Can he prove that he is a changed man? What happens when his ugly, recent past comes to try and drag him back to life in L.A? Can Liam find the inner strength to battle for his sobriety and for a place in Red’s heart? Definitely read this book to find out! Can’t wait to read the next book 😍. #secondchanceromance #RedsTavern #flowergardeningcancalmthesoul #HEA
Wow! Where do I begin? - 1st - *I received this book for an ARC Review* - 2nd - New to me author (& one I will absolutely be reading more from 😁) - 3rd - OMG I friggin Loved it. One of my favorite things in books is when there is a realism to them (Most times). Things that can happen in real life. This book is definitely one of those times. From start to finish. Liam struggles with keeping his alcoholism, drugs, a bad relationship and more ugly, hmm... more of lifes ugly troubles that he's had... in the past. It is not so easy. With the help of Katie, a dear friend to him, he has a small bit of hope that turning to the one and only man that has ever been real to him will help him.
I enjoyed this book. I thought it was better than the first in this series. I really wanted Red's book, and here it is! Honestly, I absolutely loved Liam. He was so real. Liam was a porn star who left LA for a new start. I was disappointed with Red for stringing him along continuously throughout the book. I wanted to hug Liam so bad for everything he had been through and that he was trying to change.
I had hoped more would have come from Liam's ex. It just seemed like it was something to add, and didn't really follow through with very much.
This was a light, short, enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book.
