"In this, our second book, we cheerfully offer to our brethren and children of the Holy Orthodox Church in the English-speaking world the Lives of the Saints, together with some lectures and a few of our sermons, - mindful of the command of our Master, who said : Freely ye have received, freely give. We have no comments to make ; let the facts in the histories of the lives of holy men and women speak for themselves ; we only repeat that, the Spirit breathes where He will. Let our lectures and sermons likewise speak for themselves, as they are strictly founded upon Holy Scripture and the writings of the Holy Fathers of the Church in her early days." - From the Preface About the Fr. Sebastian Dabovich (now St. Sebastian of Jackson and San Francisco) was a well-known Serbian priest in the American Russian Mission in the 1890s and early 1900s. He started numerous churches and authored several books. He died in Serbia in 1940 and was declared a saint on May 29, 2015. His feast day is celebrated on November 30.
Excellent and accessible collection of major Saints' lives with some good reflections in the second half. I'd recommend this as a good starting point for reading the lives of Orthodox Saints.
