From USA Today bestselling author Sarah K. L. Wilson comes a deliciously trope-filled young adult romantic fantasy about a viciously funny mortal girl and her quest to hunt, trap, and conquer powerful fae. Allie thought she was saving her own mortality and stopping the Fae incursion when she killed the Balance - one of four Fae roles - and took a particularly essential Fae as her captive. But Allie didn't think through the consequences. Now, she has one of the four roles of the Faewald. A role she must fulfill by force of magic.Worse, the Blood Moon has risen in the Faewald and that means it is the time of the Wild Hunt. Can Allie find a way to save her people while fleeing the Wild Hunt and fighting against a magic that seeks to control her? It's still just one mortal girl against the Faewald, but now the stakes couldn't be higher. For lovers of The Cruel Prince and An Enchantment of Ravens comes a world of violent fae, trickery, and magic. Grab the fourth book of the Tangled Fae series today!

for a sequel that practically twisted my heart into knots!!! This is my favourite fae series ever - dark, twisted and yet so very beautiful; violent and deadly but also full of gentleness and enchanting! And every time I think I've read the best in series - bam! the next book comes and sweeps me off my feet. Even more tangled and enchanted than the others.
I've fallen in love with a twisted fae and a little nightmare! And this particular part of their journey was like a dagger to my heart!
'I'd always believed we were the sum of our choices.' That's Allie Hunter's firm belief. But the choices she will be forced to make this time around are bound to make her question not only her own righteousness, but that of fae and humans alike.
Do the fae deserve to be saved too? And how about the mortals whose cruelty at times seems to surpass even that of the most twisted fae? After all... 'That was mortals for you. They came in every shade of morality. And that made it so difficult to know what to do with them. How did you slaughter knowing there were a few noble and bright among them? How did you refrain knowing there were just as many dark and twisted?'
Choices and doubts are what Allie faces at every single corner. Should she embrace her new role of Balance, should she trust her tangled husband? So many choices with so much hanging in the balance!
Allie is now 'The Leveler. Righter of Wrongs. Destroyer of Worlds.' A position coveted in the world of the fae. Of course she doesn't want it, but the role she has unwittingly been thrust into won't be denied. Allie's only choice is to either embrace it or redeem it, but she is The Hunter and determined to stay true to her path. Save the people of her village and put an end to the war her sister had started. And yet, how much will she be willing to sacrifice to set wrongs right? Can she find a way to save her people while fleeing the Wild Hunt and fighting against a magic that seeks to control her? It's still just one mortal girl against the Faewald, but now the stakes couldn't be higher.
Hunted by the fae who covet her new role, as well as by the humans who want to turn her into a tool, Allie can rely on only her wits and, perhaps, her fae husband. 'Friend, ally, husband, betrayer and captor,' Scouvrel is hell bent on not leaving Allie's side. And their connection deepens and evolves, turning into one of the deepest and most tangled relationships I've ever encountered. Dark and mesmerizing, stunningly beautiful and amazingly cruel.
“Why do you call me Nightmare?” “Because you haunt my dreams and make it impossible to sleep. Because you’ve ruined my happiness and made my life a torturous hell.” “How endearing.” “How inspiring,” he breathed. There was only a whisper of air between our lips. He closed the gap, his lips so soft, so respectful – almost worshipful – as he kissed me. “I would not ask for freedom from your torture. I’ve come to embrace the delicious agony of you. I seek it out, like plunging a knife into my own heart.”
Scouvrel is a contradiction who cannot be trusted. And yet Allie finds herself getting more and more ensnared by his charms.
Could it be possible to become tangled up with another person so that you could no longer tell what was hurting them and what was hurting you?
This time around, Scouvrel's anguish and longing is enough to break a heart!
Dearest Nightmare, you will shatter me. You will destroy me. You will break every shard of me and crush it to powder.
Just as the bond between him and Allie!
"Show me where to go and what to do. Be my ally again. Don't tell me this is the last time. Don't tell me we are enemies and opponents fated to destroy each other...." "Stop asking for the impossible Nightmare. Haunt me all you want. Haunt me until food becomes tasteless and wine less heady than water, but do not torture me with hope.
Damn! This is one tale that will sweep you off your feet and have your heart leap into your throat!
Just as fast paced as it's predecessors, this installment in the Tangled Fae series is even more gripping and addictive. The setting is just as exquisitely twisted and amazingly beautiful. The story flows like a movie and the characters are so wonderfully fleshed out by now that you cannot help but adore them. And don't even let me get started with the messages between the lines. Those are downright brilliant!
If you are also a fan of all things Faerie! TANGLED FAE IS A MUST READ! I bet you'll also love it just as much as I did!
Happy reading Bookdragons! and always remember to sometimes: "Trust the untrustworthy. Follow the blind. Give that most precious. Be bold and kind."

THIS PLOT. THESE CHARACTERS. THE DESCRIPTION. THEIR ROMANCE. 😍💖💕
Omw. Omw. Omw. It's so unique and gOrGeOuS.
Details ~ Over the top! Absolutely marvellous. I enjoyed every second of this hilarious twisty roller coaster. The magic of her words are strung throughout so perfectly. Everything flows smoothly.
Setting ~ Fae world ... human world. We were back and forth as they constantly escaped their hunters. 😅😂 From one end of the realm to the next, we were in castles and kingdoms, under mountains one second then soaring over lands the next. Into ocean homes and little villages, by dark hellish entrances and cozy earthen cabins.
Plot ~ Unexpected. It kept me on my toes and drove the story forward, even amidst the cute silly scenes and swoon worthy kisses. There are triple motives to everything that happens. You can't expect some minor happening NOT to affect the end result.
Romance ~ GAHHHHHHH. ALLIE IS STILL PRETENDING SHE'S NOT HEAD-OVER-HEELS IN LOVE WITH SCOVREL. it's ridiculously cute. #enemiestolovers I'm dying because HE WON'T STOP READING PRIDE & PREJUDICE. He's getting all his info on romance and relationships from this book. It's killing me. 😂😂😂
Content ~ Kissing, deception, trickery, suggestive conversations (lovers make out "conversation" after characters get "married"), violence, head impelled on wooden poles, etc.
I appreciate that dark is portrayed as dark. And that Allie realizes some Fae don't want to be dark. They want to be human.
Characters ~ They grow so much in how they perceive things. Allie is trying to teach and hold onto compassion, mercy, love, selflessness, forgiveness, loyalty, and faith. I appreciate how they grow in adversity. >.< Realistic. Lol
Overall ~ #reallyenjoyedthisbook GO READ THIS SERIES!!!! #mybrainisdeadandihavenothinglefttosay :)
**FTC DISCLOSURE** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are mine, and mine alone. I'd appreciate it if you didn't take my opinion personally. Thanks! :)
Everything really amps up in this book! The story, the twists, the turns, and secrets. I have loved reading this series and experiencing this journey with Allie. There are still secrets hidden and I can’t wait to find out what they are. I really loved this book!
There was so much exciting chaos in this book, I could hardly look away! Allie and Scouvrel's relationship turned out just as I had hoped but my heart feels like it's thumping like the golems footsteps after that ending! I will be torturing myself and eagerly awaiting book 5!
→Fae Pursuit (Tangled Fae #4)← Author: Sarah K. L. Wilson Genre: Fantasy, YA, romance Age Rating: 12+ Spice: 0🌶/5 Content Warnings: no cursing, however there is magic, and violence, it gets progressively more violent, but it's not super gory Will I read more books by this author if they have any? Yes! Amazing author :D
~Thoughts~ My favorite so far… the ending was so sad!! I’m crying, and now it’s time to finish this series!! So cute!! So sad, a little dark, but amazing!
–Quotes– “Stop asking for the impossible, Nightmare. Haunt me all you want. Haunt me until food becomes tasteless and wine less heady than water, but do not torture me with hope.”
The Wild Hunt was a’hunting and Allie Hunter was no prey.
Because for all his threats and evil, I found myself longing to be with him all the time. If nothing else, he made the intolerable more entertaining. What could it hurt to bind him to me when I needed him so much?
“Tusks,” Scouvrel said idly. “His outer walls are made of carved tusks – and some femurs. He carves the story of each one he has killed on one of their bones. And those he holds most dear become earrings and little decorations for that harness he wears. Isn’t that nice?”
I had no idea what I was going to do with my brand-new husband and his attempted deceptions and traps and the thought of that both thrilled and terrified me.
“I have decided that you may love me if you wish,” Scouvrel said grandly. I snorted a laugh. “Your permission means the world to me.”
I know I said these books weren't perhaps the greatest (compare the cheeky tropiness of this series with the more heartfelt and literary style of Wilson's STOLEN MAYFLY BRIDE) but by book 4 I am pretty much hooked. The knavish Scouvrel and the defiant Allie are locked in a deadly dance - he wants her dead despite claiming to love her (and it actually DOES make sense in context), she's just trying to stop a war between the fae and mortals - and it's all good clean self-indulgent fun with a core of deeper meaning and characters who will steal your heart.
Also, Scouvrel discovers romance novels in this one and Wilson gets chapters and chapters of comedic mileage out of it.
"Everyone is shocked. Apparently, this Mister Wingdam has seen too much of the heroine's pale skin and everyone is scandalised. He can barely think, it has enraptured him so."
"Idiot," I muttered.
"Hmmm. I must admit, Nightmare, that I have not spent much time regarding your ankles. Perhaps when next we find ourselves alone, you will consent to let me study them. If they can do half the things to me that are chronicled here, it will make me utterly your plaything. "
I couldn’t wait for the audiobook so I went on without it. Lol... but can’t wait for it to be available on audiobook. This storyline was very good and captivating from the beginning to the end. A lot of action and adventure. I Honestly recommend.
This series just keeps getting better and better! I flew through listening to this book! The narrator, Caitlin Kelly, is spectacular!
Each book tangles the plot further, and this one is no exception as the main character learns to use her new powers as the Balance and struggles not to turn into a monster. I was definitely glad I had the last book on hand so I could binge-listen to the two of them back-to-back!
The mantle of the Balance is slowly settling around Allie’s shoulders, even as she is determined that she, and she alone, decides her fate and makes her own decisions. Now she is not only fighting and struggling against the Fae, the tangled humans of Queen Anabetha’s army, the Wild Hunt, and Scouvrel, but she is also struggling against herself. In a twisted world where all she wants to do is the right thing (if only she could figure and plan it out well enough to make it happen!), everyone and everything seems to ultimately be working against her. Not even the invaluable assistance she gets from Scouvrel comes without an ulterior motive…one which just might cost Allie more than she is willing to pay. I’ve noticed that I enjoy these books the most when Scouvrel and Allie are verbally jousting, teaming up, bargaining, and playing their ‘Truth or Lie’ and ‘On a Scale of 1 to 5’ games with each other. Too much of just Allie means that we don’t get insights into the Faewald, let alone the tricks and stakes which are so integral to the Faewald. (Gosh, does that mean I’m tangled too, if I enjoy that so much?? I feel like I should be concerned about that…and I don’t think that’s just Allie rubbing off on me as she is starting to wonder that about herself, too – after all, she freely admits to herself that the Faewald and Scouvrel have ruined her for the plain mortal world and any other man at all.) And in this book, Allie spends a lot of time with Scouvrel. But instead of one being the captive of the other, they are actively helping each other out. Well, mostly—Scouvrel, being Scouvrel, is definitely working towards another goal by helping Allie. And nothing so benign as tricking her into finalizing their marriage. While the goal itself may be surprising, when he finally reveals his reason for his goal, I have to say I was not surprised. It fits with all we know of Scouvrel, from his words to his actions. What was more surprising (actually, annoying) was how Allie spends so much of this story, and the series in general, not believing Scouvrel even though she knows he cannot lie. At this point, it’s a willful ignorance on her part, like she’s determined to think of him by human rules. Maybe to make it “okay” that she is clearly falling in love, if not already in love, with him, despite her apparent confusion about her own feelings. He has told her time and time again that he cannot lie because he is Fae, and she knows (intellectually) that all Fae cannot lie. Yet it is like by denying that Scouvrel cannot lie, she will be able to ignore piecing together the truths he has told her to see the ugly picture they paint. Because yes, once he spells it out plainly and completely for her, it is not a picture she wants to see, not by a long shot. And she will struggle and fight against that picture as only Allie Hunter knows how – after all, she is Allie Hunter, and there is “iron in [her] will” (Chapter 8, full quote in favorite quotes below). Since Allie spends so much time in the Faewald in this installment, we also get treated to even more of the fabulous, glamour-covered, tangled visuals of the Faewald. And they do not disappoint! (See above comment about Allie being ruined for the mortal world by the Faewald – if you’re a reader who is anything like me, you’ll be ruined by it, too!) With the rising of the Blood Moon, the Wild Hunt is on the loose, and any Fae or mortal in the Faewald at night must run, run, run or be killed by the ghostly hunt. Magic such as flying and even Allie’s world-crossing sword don’t work during the Blood Moon – after all, that would spoil the fun of the hunt, wouldn’t it? The only safety to be had is under an earth-marked door. Scouvrel, true to form, has any number of luxurious, sumptuous hidey holes scattered around the Faewald…if they can reach them, that is. Between these hidey holes and the places Allie and Scouvrel go to try and get the means to prevent the Mortal Court to falling to the Faewald we get to see even more of the twisted, vibrant, tangled, beautiful illusory tapestry of the Faewald. I fear I might never see enough of the Faewald – the more I see of it, the more I want to see! A special mention must be made of Scouvrel discovering mortal novels, of the classic/romantic inclination (think Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, historical fiction romance, those types): it is hilarious. Between him summarizing passages out loud and questioning what makes these novels – which are decidedly bereft of tricks, murder, magic, and honored bargains/marriage agreements – so attractive to readers, at the most ‘(in)opportune’ times, he elicited quite a few laughs from me. Even if Allie thinks “this book is the worst thing to ever happen” to Scouvrel (chapter 32, full quote in favorite quotes below), it offers a solid line of humor through a chunk of the book, a running joke, yet at the same time, it also helps lay bare just how differently the Fae and mortals view parties, and marriage, and love. It’s like a teaching moment for Allie, if she’d only pay attention to what Scouvrel is ultimately telling her about the Fae and Fae marriage. Finally, once again the Faewald and even the mortal world have even more surprises to unveil in this book. Some are more surprising than others (less surprising: ), either simply by what they are or by what they imply (notably, ). It is clear that everything is coming to a head with these revelations, and that this is the penultimate book in the Tangled Fae series. I just wish I didn’t have to wait another month until the final installment…
I received a free eARC in exchange for an honest review. This has not affected the contents of my review or rating.
Favorite quotes: Could it be possible to become tangled up with another person so that you could no longer tell what was hurting them and what was hurting you? To the point where their interests became your interests and their future your future? – Chapter 2, page 15/183
But that wasn’t who I was. I was Allie Hunter. I was this land. And there was iron seamed under the earth here in the heart of the mountains. Iron in the earth, iron in my blood, and iron in my will. – chapter 8, page 51/183
That was mortals for you. They came in every shade of morality. And that made it so difficult to know what to do with them. How did you slaughter them knowing there were a few noble and bright among them? How did you refrain from knowing there were just as many dark and twisted? – Chapter 12, page 69/183
This was what you got for embracing wickedness, for letting it come close. It ate you up. It sank into your skin, until the only thing left was death. And I was not ready for death. – Chapter 16, page 90/183
If only I could come up with a plan to manage my husband, but try as I might, I could not shove him into a convenient mental drawer any more than he seemed to be able to do that with me. I was going to need to sort out how I felt about him and what I could actually give him or the two of us would tear each other apart. – Chapter 28, page 155/183 – Though I have to say,
“I think this book is the worst thing to ever happen to you,” I said through clenched teeth as I dodged another branch. – Chapter 32, page 167/183
I have written at least two other reviews for the Tangled Fae series here on my blog, and I’ve mentioned it in other posts as well, being one of my favorite series that I go back to over and over again. Somehow, through good vibes from the universe, I managed to snag a spot on Wilson’s ARC team, most especially for this series, so I’ve been holding this in for a couple weeks now. She has also been endearingly sweet when I occasionally messaged her to tell her how much I loved this book. Sarah K. L. Wilson is delightful. She’s got a vibrant personality, and she loves what she does.
Anyway, the book: Fae Pursuit, Tangled Fae #4. If you haven’t read the previous three, don’t discount this yet. It may seem like a lot to catch up on, but one of the things that’s wonderful about this series is that the books are fairly short, and they certainly read FAST. Each book is only about 200 pages in length, and if you listen instead of read, (which is awesome because the narration is flawless), it’s a 6 hour listen at most. At any rate, once you get started, you won’t want to stop.
This series is the perfect Fae story: Fairies are glamorous until you see their true selves, they’re cunning, they’re deceptive, they’re cruel. Allie Hunter is our heroine, she’s a girl that flouts traditional gender roles, while her twin sister throghouly embraces them… kind of. Allie wants to be her village’s hunter, to provide them with safety and meat. But then her sister disappeared into the Faewald, and Allie goes blind… kind of.
Turns out Allie has the second sight, and she can see the Fae even when her peers cannot. She traps several Fae in a special iron cage, one of whom is the ever delightful Scouvrel. He proceeds to kill his cage mates and bargains with Allie, plays games with her, and more or less helps her get to the Faewald to rescue her family… kind of.
Each book leaves you wanting more, which makes this very painful as an ongoing series. I don’t know about you, but I like to read my series’ back to back whenever possible, especially if I really love the story. However, when the next book hasn’t been written yet… I suffer. Good news: after Pursuit, there is only one book left. Bad news: there is only one book left. I already know I’m going to be feeling completely bereft, and it’s going to be so much worse in September when my other favorite series from Annette Marie also finishes. You guys… 2020 kinda sucks lol I mean, great books, but they’re last of their series which makes it awful!
Okay, that was basically the longest introduction ever. Here is the sweet stuff, Honey Cakes: this book was everything I needed and more. Fae Nightmare held a lot of character development for Allie, and Scouvrel was largely in the background. I love Scouvrel. If I could bring him into reality I might be tempted to leave my Husband for him. He’s the absolute best, which made book three a little painful for me because he just wasn’t as present.
Not so in book four! Scouvrel is present for most of it, and we get to learn more about him: his history, his motives, how he really feels about Allie, how incredibly awesome he is. You know, all the things. And yet, there is still a whole mess of mystery surrounding him, and we end with Allie feeling more confused about him than ever before… which is saying something.
Speaking of Allie, this book is about making hard choices. She has become The Balance, and is now bound by magic to fulfill a role within the Faewald. This rather conflicts with what she desperately wants to do to save her village and the mortal court from her sister’s dastardly plans, (I don’t get to use words like dastardly” very often, and I find it very satisfying to say here). She learns that there is really just one way to separate the mortal world from the fae world, and only one way to save the fae too.
Take “save the fae” with a grain of salt. It doesn’t seem that they can really be “saved”, as such, but rather, at least, that they can be stopped from stealing human children and making them fae via horrific ceremony. I’m not totally sure how that’s going to play out, I probably need to reread it for the sake of details. I admit, my first read through was extremely ravenous, so I’m sure I missed things. That’s okay, I’m definitely going to read it again!
Pretty much, Allie has to determine what her own life is worth. Is she willing to die to save the Fae? Is she willing to possibly kill her sister to save the mortal world? What is she willing to sacrifice, really? At the same time, the problem at her home is so much bigger, so much more than she thought it was, making her choices that much more complicated.
The weight of two worlds rests on her shoulders, partly because she has a unique ability to help them, and partly because she has a tendency to run off an do things herself without really seeking help. When she does get help, she tends to not quite think it through… and kinda makes it worse. But, come on, she a teenager, I think we can forgive her the typical failings of all teenagers who think they know everything, and then find out in spectacular fashion that they really don’t.
In the midst of all this turmoil, we have Scouvrel, being his delightful self. At one point he manages to find some “mortal” literature and refers to it constantly as he and Allie flee the Faewald and try desperately to escape their other pursuers in the mortal realm. This commentary is hilarious… I think I highlighted almost everything in those sections.
Wilson’s appreciation for Jane Austen is brilliantly portrayed, and if you have read any of Austen’s work you’ll recognize every single reference. I can’t tell you how happy it all made me. You combine that with Scouvrel’s very Fae mentality, and the wit is just stupendous. I can’t accurately say how wonderful I thought it was. I can’t wait to get this on audio.
This ends, once again, on a cliffhanger in which Allie has to make the hardest choice she has had to yet… and it costs her.
Y’all, you need this book, you need this series. It is, hands down, the best fairy related book series out there. The audio is coming in the future, but we don’t have a date on it yet, however I do know, (because I asked the author, and then asked if our narrator could be bribed to get it out sooner), that it will be in production in the near future.
Fae Conqueror will be the final book in the series, and is set to release in just a month. I can’t wait. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see what Allie decides to do, and if she can save herself, and have a happily ever after with my darling Scouvrel. I’m on the edge of my seat in the meantime.
Good grief I didn’t think this series could continue to grow up that imaginative ginormous oak tree, but here we are with book four as heart pounding battles and magic increase in velocity. Truths and Lies increase between Allie & Scouvrel but she still can’t accept the fact that the Fae can’t lie, so why does she still doubt every word that comes out of his mouth, but with a longing so deep for them to be true. These two main characters spend more time together in this book, as they both battle the faeworld magic and more devastation as Allie’s decisions become less of her own. She needs an army to battle the Fae in the mortal realm but where could she find one to fight for her? especially when a mythic hunt from the fae becomes alive. Sir Eckelmeyer makes another appearance with surprising revelations, offering only more brutality and a certain death sentence we readers will see no way out of. The ending was more shocking and Sarah.L.Wilson certainly knows how to make your heart beat faster, like being on a terrifying white knuckle fairground ride then when debark with wobbly legs with maybe a bit of sickness in your stomach is How book.4. Will make you feel at points but you can’t close your eyes to the terrifying things around you. There was a few points throughout the storyline I wanted to close my eyes to the words as I was so worried about what would come next, but with a strong need to know would it be devastation or would I still have hope, I’m afraid you will meet most of these sensations before that last word in this printed. So I plead now for book.5 please Sarah.K.L.Wilson, as the suspense will keep me chewing my nails to pieces.
I really love this series although half the time I'm not sure I really understand what is going on. Allie has killed the Balance in the previous book and is now bound to take over his role - for everything she takes or gives she has to give back or take to balance the world. She's fighting this fate and Scouvrel, still struggling with trusting him. Best bit for me was when Scouvrel finds a book from the mortal world, kind of a Victorian romance, and is amazed that people in the book go to a party, music plays, and no one dies. How ridiculous is that (for a fae?) :-) There are other story plots he is totally shocked about and it's so funny.
Can't wait for the next and final book and hopefully everything will be untangled!!
I am the lucky recieved of an ARC copy of Fae Pursuit and here are my thoughts about the book -
Allie Hunter is back again, only this time she must take on the role of the Balance, something that she's determined to fight against with everything she has. The fae have broken through to the mortal realm and are determined to conquer it. Allie continues to fight back, alongside Scouvrel, coming up against huge problems and more enemies throughout her journey. Can she save humanity? Can she uncover secrets that have been hidden for years and years? Read it!
Action, emotion and energy course through this episode in Sarah's Fae series keeping the reader entertained and turning pages long after bedtime!
Couldn’t put this book down , again. This is becoming something of a bad habit Sarah!! Only joking. This is another series of Sarah’s that you know you are going to love. I will say that the tension builds up more so in this book and you’re left with a cliffhanger at the end. But the good news is that the last one is available. So I’ll be reading that asap.
Just finished this in a 24 hour time frame because I could hardly stand to put it down! I can't wait to read the final book in the series to see what the author has in store to wrap up all the clever threads and character developments carefully tangled through the first four installments. I hope Amazon ships my paperback soon!
This is the continuing tale of two star crossed people. One is is fae, Scouvrel one is mortal; Allie. These two make me laugh out loud with their bantering and bargaining through their adventures in order to untangle the mess made by sins of the past and present. I can’t wait for July as this story keeps you on the edge of your seat! Thanks Sarah!
Allie had killed the Balance, and had now taken his place as one of the four chosen fae who could not be killed. She had become the leveler, the righter of wrongs and destroyer of worlds. She was now Scouvrel's other side of the coin, he sowed chaos whilst she strove to bring about order, therefore by right she should destroy him yet she refused to take on a role which was forced on her. Anyway she didn't know how she felt about Scouvrel, her husband, friend, ally, betrayer and her once captor, she was falling in love with him. However if she was to best the fae she had to harden her heart against all of them and their tricky ways including Scouvrel the trickiest knave in Faewald. Hulanna, her twin and now Queen of the fae, had led the fae to their home village to kill the mortals and Allie was damned if she was going to sit by and let this happen. She waged war on the fae and she managed to get a golem army from faewald to back her, as she took them all through the stone circle. However, it was not the right time to wage war, as the hunt was on in faewald and Allie was followed through the portal by the Kinslayer and his terrifying horde of the hunt. In the mortal world she is torn between who to save, her mother or her husband and the mystery thickens around Allie and her role as hunter and I cannot wait to read book 5 and the end of this magically fantastic series where the fae and the faewald are nothing as I had thought they ever were at all!
This series gets better with each book. In this book we find our more background information on Scouvrel, and other revelations that give the story a new twist. I love the interactions between Alli and Scouvrel as they banter back and forth. Their bantering has me laughing at times. I can’t wait for the next book, I need to know what happens near!!
I have been determined to get some series I have started completed and I am back to this one! I can see the finish line!
There are so many good things to say about this book like the cat and mouse games that Scouvrel and Allie play. You never know which one is which because their roles are always switching. I also like that Allie is determined to play the fae games by her own rules. She is kindhearted and still tries to save the human world even when they weren’t kind to her. She definitely doesn’t hold a grudge towards them but the same can’t be said for her twin sister or Scouvrel, haha.
When it comes to the romance aspect, there isn’t much besides a few kisses here and there. I’m okay with this but I will say that sometimes I wish there relationship would progress past the games a bit more. I do like their back and forth but it still feels the same as previous books.
As with the other books, I am never expecting what will happen when it comes to the plot. Characters from previous books make appearances and really know what it means to be a plot twist. I liked that there was more from her sister and there has also been glimpses into the past when it comes to events that have previously happened in the faeworld. Everything is coming together and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen in the fifth and final book!
”Why do you call me Nightmare?...Because you haunt my dreams and make it impossible to sleep. Because you’ve ruined my happiness and made my life a torturous hell.”
This story is getting more thrilling and intense as the series comes close to being finished. Secrets are being revealed but more twists are also thrown in to completely throw us off. We think we know how this story will finish but then something unexpected happens and we have no clue. This story is complex, gritty and so very entertaining to read.
Allie is finally starting to figure things out and learning the rules of the game. She’s fierce, witty and becoming stronger with each decision she has to make. She has taken on a new role by becoming the Balance and she has gotten closer to her unreliable husband. Will she be able to save the mortal world? That’s one question I can’t wait to read the answer to with the final book in this series.
This series is phenomenal! I will be sad when it is over!
I loved this book so much. Allie is a female character you can love. She strong, funny, vulnerable. Scovrel is a male character like none I've ever read. You don't know from one page to the next if he's going to help or harm her but you still love him. Everything he says is beautiful even when it's terrible. That ending was wow. This is a story that I have no idea what will happen next but I can't wait to find out.
How much anticipation can a reader have throughout an entire book only to come to an end that leaves you hanging in suspense? Allie Hunter - a mortal whose fae husband is chaos incarnated is once again fighting for humanity while keeping her heart firmly attached to no one else. The story leads you on a wild chase - literally and figuratively - into the world of mortals and devious fae in a power actioned fourth installment to the series. You never grow bored of the authors voice in this series and it truly is a testament of her magic as she once again sucks you into Allies world and gives The Cruel Prince a run for its money. Truly, I’ll be waiting on baited breath for the last book to be released and also devastated because it will be the end of a distinguished 2020 YA fantasy series.
I’m adoring Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Tangled Fae world. It’s complex, gritty yet real but at the same time totally fun. The lead here, Allie, is perfectly crafted and in Fae Pursuit (Book 4) she’s both learning that actions have consequences - now being forced to take on Balance, one four roles of the Faewald, which she’s somehow supposed to fulfill by force of magic just in time for the rise of the Blood Moon triggering the Wild Hunt. Pretty overwhelming for her, but what follows is totally outstanding in this superbly written tale that I’m totally happy to highly recommend.
What a tangled and intriguing book! If you kill a fae, then you might get his/her place in what they are and Allie had killed the Balance and was supposed to replace him. Allie was married to Scouvrel, a fae. With Allie's sister terrorizing the other humans and family. Different living conditions and everything is a game to fae, a favor for a favor. Take a ride with this author for more entertainment with this series.
A wild and crazy story. Very busy. Lots of energy. I read it without reading the first three in the series and still found it both readable and enjoyable. Everything pertinent was described even if it happened in an earlier book. Cliff-hanger ending. Allie is delightful. Scouvrel is endearing.
This is the 4th book of the series, my absolutely favorite!! Sarah K Wilson takes us in an exciting Journey with Ali Hunter and Scourval. It’s non stop action! Ali has grown so much as a person, Scourval is as frustrating and Lovable as he can be.
This story has characters have grown so much! It’s one of my favorite series! I know you will enjoy it as much as I have!
