researchED is an educator-led organisation with the goal of bridging the gap between research and practice. This accessible and punchy series, overseen by founder Tom Bennett, tackles the most important topics in education, with a range of experienced contributors exploring the latest evidence and research and how it can apply in a variety of classroom settings. In this edition, Clare Sealy explores how schools can get the most out of a rich curriculum, editing contributions from a wide range of writers.
I thought the chapters by Percival and Almond were especially helpful. Practical guides on what a coherent curriculum might be. Too much of this book was ideological. I already know that a knowledge-based curriculum is good, I don't need to be convinced of that. I want more practical examples, and demonstrations on how it was achieved, and evidence that it works. Are there any pre-made curriculums that evidence shows works well instead of every school creating one from scratch?
3.5 I really like the compilations but sometimes they feel disjointed or repetitive. It might be better to take key questions around the topic and unpick each one to ensure a more thorough and distinct read
