Matt has never had a way with words. A debilitating stutter has plagued him his entire life, causing him to shy away from social situations. After the unexpected death of his brother, Matt stops fighting his anxiety and withdraws from the world. He moves into his brother’s house, hoping that the place will help him stay connected to the one person that saw him for more than just the way he spoke.
Matt has long since given up on finding love and intimacy. He has come to terms with the fact that his stutter and social anxiety are not qualities that women look for in a man. To make matters worse, his anxiety around beautiful women makes his stutter so bad that he can barely force a word out. He could have never anticipated meeting a woman like his new neighbor, Taylor Pierce. The stunning woman looks at him like he isn’t broken, something that he thought could only happen in his fantasies. Around Taylor, Matt finally feels like he might have a chance for something more than the isolated world he has created for himself.
Taylor has completely given up on her social life. Her spirit is slowly being crushed under the weight of her crippling student loan debt, and for the past two years, she has had to work close to eighty-hour weeks to stay financially afloat. Her busy schedule hasn’t left her any time for love, even just the kind that only lasts one night. She has finally had enough of her self-induced celibacy. But she barely has enough time to sleep, so how is she supposed to find the perfect hook-up? She turns her eyes to her shy, mysterious neighbor whose good looks could rival those of a Norse God.
Will she be able to convince silent Matt to come out of his shell? Thankfully, luck is on her side (or much more likely, her dyscalculia). When a mislabeled package forces Matt to knock on her door, Taylor is ready to take whatever chance she can get. But will it be enough to convince Matt to put his Stuttering Heart on the line?
Novella with a stuttering hero. I'm all in for that, but it was frustrating that this was just a novella and it ended in a weird place. Anxiously waiting for Book 2.
A shy, hot, virgin guy who wants his neighbor. Luckily, she wants him too. Now it is just a matter of communicating those desires and making them real. Matt is my dream sweetie. His neighbor is a lucky lady and Matt is lucky she is a patient and understanding woman. There is only 1 erotic scene, but there is a book 2 which I believe I will go seek out right now. My usual complaint. He is a virgin who gets hard when she looks at him or touched his arm or whatever… but in the bedroom he manages not to come until she does…? Really? At least the book explains how hard it is for him to hold back and how he is almost going to finish But at the end of the day he makes it through kissing, touching, stroking, 2 positions, and waiting for her… I am not buying it.
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 2.5/5 Innocence in losing it: 4/5 Build up to losing it: 3/5 Hotness of losing it: 3/5 Busted touching himself: no (only by the reader) POV: male
The author does a good job in developing the story line in her first novel. The two main characters, both dealing with personal challenges that could impact their social lives, are realistic and believable. The author does a great job in conveying their innermost thoughts. While profanity is commonplace these days, I felt that the frequent use of the "f_ _ _ " word whether describing sexual desires, frustrations, or encounters seemed forced and inconsistent with the other personality traits of the main characters. It was jarring, sometimes defeating the reader's ability to relate or identify with the character. Also, the author might want to have a disclaimer upfront for the profanity and sexual content so that the reader will not be surprised. The writing style is detailed and vivid, enabling the ready to visualize and "see" the characters. A book for today's busy reader who wants an escape.
Such a great read! I'm so happy I stumbled upon this little gem. I loved Matt and Taylor's connection and how they've both been crushing on the other for such a long time. I especially loved Matt. His shyness and anxiety stemming from his stutter were both very enduring and it was great to watch him break out of his shell so that he could try to get to know Taylor. I have a big weakness for nontraditional heroes, and Matt definitely made my heart race! I really hope that there will be a second book to explore their relationship more! There is one steamy sex scene at the end which I thought was well done. Would definitely recommend!
I wish I'd paid more attention to the title. This is only book 1. For such a short book, it was really long. Literally nothing happens. The entire 8 or 9 chapters is repetition of inner thoughts for both of them. He only thinks about how he can't speak and she only thinks about how she wants to get laid. That's genuinely all there is. And in the last chapter, they have sex. The writing itself is decent, characters are unique, and plot is interesting; it's just that nothing happens. I look forward to the next book in their story, hopefully this was just dragged out because it was the set up for the rest.

It was interesting to me how long the author was able to draw out the suspense. Will they ever get together? And surprising how a relationship can take off without words.
Short and somewhat sweet novella with atypical hero and heroine. Definitely enjoyed that both weren’t perfect and were struggling to overcome something they felt a sense of shame over when, for both of them, it wasn’t their fault. Stupid society being what it is.
Would have liked more, but maybe there’s a sequel floating around out there?
I loved the start of this series for Matt and Taylor. It’s going to be a fun ride for them. I wouldn’t say it left off in a cliffhanger but I am ready for the next book. This one ended at the perfect place.
Abrupted ending. Most of the story is internal thoughts for the characters, wish there was a bit more. Also, when is the next book? Why is there no information on it and the author themselves?
