Armed with Nord and her reawakened powers, Lina will not rest until she finds the man responsible for her murder. However, rediscovering her complicated history with the man who killed her also reveals something much darker.
Lina is one of the heirs to the notorious criminal order, the Mobius Council, an organization that the Brotherhood has been seeking to destroy for decades.
Hunted by her murderer, wanted by the Brotherhood, and struggling to relearn her powers, Lina will need to put everything on the line to reclaim her life. Failure isn't an option. Because losing means forfeiting the one thing she holds above everything else. Nord.
This is the second book in the Undercover Magic series, picking up where Hint of Danger leaves off.

ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW
MEG ANNE YOU DID IT AGAIN.
YOU RUINED ME.
The book continues where we left off and we get to see the full memory of Lina's murder as she remembers everything. After that there's so much information, almost too much, so I chose to sleep on it to process better and read the rest after waking up.
And then I'm hit with that penis-vagina line AND I'M SCREAMING AND LAUGHING SO HARD. It's so true.
Speaking of cool lines, take a look at this:
“I’m sorry you got hurt.” His lips twitched up. “I’ve gone through worse.” She laughed outright. “Liar.” “For you,” he whispered, “there is no end to what I would endure.”
THAT LAST ONE. DON'T TALK TO ME, I'M CRYING.
Lina's magic is slowly coming back and what does she do? She summons drinks. LINA PLEASEEEE.
Our stalker turns out to be a serial killer, why am I not surprised? Good that he isn't who I was afraid he would be. Bye bye stalker, you won't be missed.
I love the development Finley and Quinn got, I ship them so hard and I love them both.
And Crombie being so helpful...you know what I want? A Crombie spin-off. Please and thank you.
Alistair is just the best uncle, I cried and cried and no, it's not fair what you did, Meg. Not fair at all.
There just had to be another cliffhanger, of course. But at least a certain person got saved so it's less scary. If their fate was uncertain I'd throw hands.
I DON'T THINK I CAN WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR FOR BOOK THREE. I NEED IT NOW.
I'm not sure why I can leave a separate review for a different edition? Anyway, I just finished the audiobook and YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO IT TOO. It's amazing. I'm in love, as usual. I'm glad I decided to stretch it over 10+ days, really helped me remember so much stuff.
Okay. First things first. WTAF? Was Meg Anne tormented as a child or something? Did she not get a puppy she wanted? Why would she hurt my heart like this? It hurts so bad. Thank goodness for the bonus scene. Because I needed that laugh out loud moment. Finley and Quinn make my heart happy. Meg Anne, not so much!
Joking aside. This is such a fantastic series. This book picks up right where the previous book left off. Lina has her memories. And her power. You’d think this would be a good thing, but this poor woman cannot catch a break. She has her guardian on her side though. Oh, Nord, what a fine specimen you are! I loved the continuation of their relationship and seeing it grow. Especially now that there is nothing holding Nord back. What’s great about this instalment is that we see Lina’s world expanding. She doesn’t just have Nord and Finley on her side. She has family and friendship too.
There are moments that will make you laugh, make you swoon, and if you can’t tell from the intro, make you cry too. It’s the full package, and I am diving into book three right now.
Stella Hunter and Shane East performed this book in duet, and it is brilliant. Their voices complement each other well, and they’re a joy to listen to. The production is top-notch as always.
Book two picks up without missing a beat. And just wow, there's non stop action from beginning to end. Once you start reading you just can't stop. Someone has made the mistake at the end though of not realizing just what might happen when our boy Nord let's his bezerk free. Because our Viking will do anything to protect his girl, and I can't wait to what happens next
I cannot wait for more Lina and Nord! My gosh, this series is addictive. Action-packed, fast-paced, and hot, hot, hot. Meg Anne has delivered a fun, seductive and jam-packed paranormal romance that leaves you wanting more, more, more!
Lina is still trying to figure out who she is, what happened, and why she is under threat. Nord is her grumpy self-appointed supernatural Viking protector. They are quite a pair. They are drawn to each other, and Nord's growly protectiveness of Lina is matched only by her determination to to figure this mystery out, AND to prove herself strong, independent and a force to be reckoned with. Add to this Quinn and Finley, who are two of the sassiest and grumbly side-kicks ever, and this just such a fun trip to listen to.
Narration by Shane East and Stella Hunter is spot-on perfect for this story. They are making this an absolute treat to listen to, and are definitely bringing Meg Anne's words to life.
Lina and Nord are at it again! They are completely electric together as they seek to right the wrongs done to Lina. This second story in the series, like the one before it, is full of non-stop action, danger, suspense and intrigue. In the midst of all of that, there is plenty of humor and some snarky sidekicks. (I still have a crush on Finley and want more of him with Quinn because their sexual tension is incredible.) When it comes to Lina and Nord’s sexy times, let’s just say that you know it’s going to be good when it takes two chapters to play out. Holy hotness, look out for chapters 11 and 12! And prepare yourself for a cliffhanger that will leave you stunned and counting the days until the next book comes out.
The narration by Stella Hunter and Shane East is excellent. Stella perfectly portrays Lina as a strong, fearless woman who can take care of herself and yet loves knowing that Nord would do absolutely anything for her. Shane makes me melt as he voices the strong, brooding Viking. His accent is amazing and when he whispers, watch out!
Gah!!! This story just keeps getting better and better! You fall even more in love with Lina and Nord. They are literally a matched made in heaven (or Valhalla if you will). You definitely learn more about Lina and who she really is after her amnesia clears. In the first couple of chapters there is a lot of information to digest but don't let that deter you from finishing the book. It is soooooo worth it. You do learn more about Quinn which I love her character even more. I do want to know more about Crombie because he is such an enigma and also would like to learn more about Finley. Ummmmm.....can we just talk about the tension between Quinn and Finley?? They just need to get to it already!! lol There is plenty of action, romance and intrigue in this book. I highly recommend picking up book 1 (Hint of Danger) prior to reading this one. ENJOY!!
An A.May.Zing Book! I love the characters in a book that have sass and wit and generally kick butt and these characters have delivered on ALL fronts. The snide remarks and back-and-forth bickering is EXCELLENT and had me laughing and smiling throughout the book. The romance is to die for. Luna has discovered who she really is and that brings with it a number of problems, not to mention that her life is in danger. Her new found friends and yes, that includes the HOT as sin Nord (my new book boyfriend by the way), and some old friends from her past have to decipher who killed her and why.
This book is fast-paced with no dull moments at all. Need to get my hands on book 3, NOW!
I love this series!! As always, the laugh out loud factor is great, and there is some fantastic action. As with every Meg Anne book, beware of a cliffy, but that's just to be expected. It leaves me eagerly awaiting World of Danger :D Another thing to be aware of... it's hard to put down. I read this in one go, front to back. It kicks off right where we left off in Hint and goes all-out. Lina & Nord are a fantastic couple, and their friends are some of my fave characters. Quinn is straight-up hilarious. I love some of the stuff she pulls. Her & Fin make me laugh every time. I'm very interested in finding out what Crombie's deal is as well.
Keep them coming!! I will devour each and every one of these :D
Face of Danger by Meg Anne is an awesome story that I have read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest of this awesome series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! So much action, the pages practically turned themselves! Did not see the last two twists coming, but what a way to keep me hanging. Sure do hope I don’t have to wait until projected date, earlier would be great!
I definitely didn’t see that ending coming and omg I need book 3 now!
The list of allies grows short and the list of enemies grow by the second but Lina and Nord will stop till they have all their answers! This book thickened the plot and has me needing book 3 like I need my next breathe!
Flove this book so much!! It is just as good as book one!
The story picks up right where Hint of Danger leaves off. Action packed, mysteries solved, great characters, amazing storyline. I love Nord & Lenas relationship. Chapter 3 swoon! It’s nice to have a series with a bad as$ heroine as well as hero!
The audio is 5 stars as well!!! Perfect duet narration!
Yes! Loved the first book and the second was even better! Lina and Nord are an amazing couple and the snark that Meg brings to her characters makes them come alive. Crombie has quickly become my favorite character with Quinn a close second. This book has action, love, laughs, and oh the steam! And it wouldn't be a Meg Anne book without one of her epic cliffhangers. I can't wait to see what happens next!
I absolutely loved the 1st book and this second book did not disappoint!! Face of Dangerr picks up where book 1 left off...thank goodness, that twist and cliffhanger ending had me on edge, lol!! The twist keep coming and the story is just getting better and better! Great audio narration and I cannot wait for more Lina and Nord!!!
So that was worth the wait....I need a Nord and a wall....and a sinful grin just before uttering “only if you want it to”. *swoon* oh but the cliffs she left us. Cause no Meg couldn’t just go with one she has multiples.
Book 1 needed on a cliffhanger. Book 2 picks up where it ended . This one is like book 1. It’s face pace , action packed , filled with mystery. Lina needs to know who she really is , why was she murdered . She goes into a bar and that’s where she sees Alistair and she first meets Quinn . Quinn is quite a paranormal that adds to the story. She allows Lina to remember it all . Who her murderer is . Nord greeks out because he’s Lina protector. Love the chemistry that Lina and Nord have between them. It’s hot hot. . They have one person to track , Lina killer . There is also friction between Quinn and Flynn. Love how they interact together. There are some instances that Quinn can be to much . Love the Fai Cracken , he adds to the story
The performance of Stella Hunter and Shane East were perfection. They did all the characters great, you were able to know who is who by their tone
Slumped down in one of the Tempest Lounge’s booths, all of Lina’s memories returned at once. But the memory of her murder is the one that held her attention. Mataius Drake, the man she had been promised to, was right behind her as she ran into the alley. Something smashed into her head, and she woke up in silver chains, blood still running down her face and neck. Mataius smacked her across the cheek, then pressed into her wound until she passed out again. He carved her body with a knife in preparation for some ritual. By the time her uncle Alistair and Quinn found her, they could not save her life, but there was something they could do to protect her soul, even though she wouldn’t remember them. She couldn’t make a sound as they buried her.
Her Guardian, Nord, wrapped his arms around Lina and asked her to tell him what Mataius had done, because he intended to repay him tenfold when he captured him! Then they all sat at the booth while they reviewed the last 27 years while Lina had been “dead”.
Lina is one of the heirs to the notorious criminal order, the Mobius Council, an organization that the Brotherhood has been seeking to destroy for decades. The Council is made up of five families— the Cuskas, Drakes, Satori, Thortons, and Alinari, with each family having one seat on the Council. Lina is the heir to the Cuska seat, and Mataius was the heir to the Drake’s. They were all animagi, an ancient magical race. When a new generation comes into their power, they replace the previous Council members as power flows into their heir during their Awakening. If an heir is killed, the power will die. But it made no sense if Mataius killed her to end the Cuska power since he knew it was too soon – Lina had not entered her Awakening. So what was he after? Lina reminded them of the ritual, and the power they used was not anything she recognized. But if the evil, dark power did manage to initiate the Awakening, the magic transfer would have weakened her father – unless Lina’s spirit being bound to the earth by Alistair and Quinn’s action kept the ritual from being completed. And she now knew her consciousness and memories returning the previous night had actually been her Awakening! She was now the head of the Cuska family and leader of the Council.
With Nord beside her and her awakened powers, Lina will go after the man responsible for her murder. As she hunts, she is hunted by her murderer, wanted by the Brotherhood, and struggling to relearn her powers. Will she survive? Can she defeat her enemies?
This story has a strong beginning that will snap the reader to attention immediately. As the story becomes more complex, the tension rises. Grab your copy and follow Lina in her quest to find justice and to preserve the power of her line.
Face of Danger picks up right where the first book left off and just keeps getting better! The more we get to know these characters the more I love them. Lina has her memories now. As she gains her power and blooms in her new relationship with Nord her underlying personality shines through in the way she treats others. She is far from naive, but chooses to see the good in people and inspires them to be better (sometimes against their very nature). I just love this side of her! We saw it with the bouncer (KiKo) in book 1 and it blossoms in this book. Nord continues to demonstrate his intense need to protect Lina and exact vengeance. Not only is he a fantastic hero, but he is the perfect fit for Lina. His dominant personality clashes with her independence at times with excellent fireworks and seriously hot scenes that will cause you to back up and listen again. Finley is an excellent partner for Nord. He just keeps getting more interesting and fun. Quinn is a devious, mischievous mastermind and tortures Finley in all the best ways. I can’t wait to see what happens there! Cromby is definitely interesting with lots of antihero potential.
Stella Hunter and Shane East work together beautifully in duet to bring this story to life with all of the anger, angst, humor, and passion! The depth and complexity of the nefarious powers working against them is further revealed in this book with building suspense and mystery. It’s exciting, fun, and sexy as hell! I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens! I definitely recommend this series!
DAMN! This story just keeps getting better with every turn of the page. The suspense was intense and kept me completely captivated and enthralled right from the very beginning, straight to that amazing and utterly shocking ending.
Lina is a very witty, very funny and one kickass woman. She is becoming stronger and more fierce as the story progresses. Nord is still the intensely powerful and sexy Viking that we all love and swoon over. Lina and Nord’s connection is stronger than ever and the sexual chemistry these two have oozed off the pages.
”Their kiss was like a piece of tinder catching flame. Scorching, insatiable, and seconds away from blazing completely out of control.”
Utter fire between them. Just their kisses alone melted my panties and left me begging for more!
”Valhalla has never held much appeal to me. I’d prefer to enjoy heaven while still alive. And you, Kaerasta, are my idea of heaven. It even death could keep me from you.”
Ugh, so sexy and romantic. Nord is my new book boyfriend!
Be ready for another wild rollercoaster ride with all kinds of twists and turns that will shock you and leave you breathless! I can’t wait to read how this story unfolds in the end.
Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off. Lina has just recovered her memories, and now she’s out for revenge. She’s reconnected with her uncle, Alastair, and her best friend Quinn, and with Nord at her side, she is ready to kick a$$ and take names. She knows who was responsible for her *almost* death, and she’s determined to make him pay. Her history comes with a lot of interesting baggage that also needs to be worked through, but her rediscovered sense of self, and the powerful magic that comes with it, as well as the sexy Viking that is sworn to protect her, will help her get through any obstacles. Tons of action, intrigue, and the slow burn turns into scorching heat, making this an excellent continuation of the Undercover Magic series.
Once again, the secondary characters are a wonderful component of this book. We get to add Quinn and her snarky, take no crap, confident and sexy attitude, which is the perfect nemesis to Finley’s by the rules confidence - sparks are flying here, and the banter is to die for. The four main characters have such an excellent report amongst each other, every chapter is more and more fun. There are even times when the secondary characters easily steal the scene from the main characters with their wit, humor, and endless banter, and I’m totally here for it.
Once again, we are left with a great cliffhanger to carry us into the third book. There are some significant shifts in character dynamics, and the list of enemies continues to grow. It makes for an ever more interesting series, and I’m excited for more.
Audiobook note - I will reiterate how fantastic the narration is for this book. The duet narration, which is wonderful in and of itself, is executed flawlessly, with both narrators bringing life to each character expertly. The latest addition of Quinn is perfection, as she captures her voice just as I would imagine it to be. I absolutely love these audiobooks.
I absolutely ❤ Nord and Lina!! This book continues right where book 1 ends. Lina wakes up and remembers everything she'd forgotten... and how her ex tortured her, how her beloved uncle and Quinn buried her alive(ish). Thankfully they quickly explain it was to save her soul in order to return. But now 25 years later, it's time for her to get her revenge except now Nord and Finley are under fire by the Brotherhood and forbidden to help her. That won't stop Nord though... they go on a journey to find her ex and nearly get killed in the process.
When they finally think everything is finally over BAM!🤪 They get hit over the head with a new enemy. An enemy who isn't above killing to get what they want. And I'll be honest, that part was super sad 😔.
Overall this was a fantastic book and being able to listen to it made the journey feel like I was there experiencing it. The narrators did such a wonderful job that I could barely stop listening!
I wholeheartedly recommend this book and series. I can't wait to listen to the next book!
Even though this is the second book in this series, and I've read it out of order, I truly enjoyed it. As Lina's memories come back, she becomes more aware of her true relationship with Nord. She is a strong heroine, which is something I always love to read, and these characters who surround her made me fall in love with this story. Quinn and Finley are fantastic and give off definite comedic vibes. There were moments I laughed, and others when I wanted to shake Lina because I knew she would get herself into more trouble than she was prepared for. The story is action-packed, full of intrigue and mystery, and took my emotions through the wringer. And that cliffhanger...
This was an unexpected adventure. I hadn't read any books by this author before. Though I haven't read the first one (which is on my list of things to do), it was easy to pick up where and who the characters were and the danger they were in immediately. The author has a unique style that made me want to know more. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Lina’s memory is back! This girl went from not knowing her past, to a whole heck of a lot of past crammed in her head, and not all of it sunshine and rainbows! I love how Nord stands by her side and helps her through the roller coaster of emotions discovering her past has brought out for her. Their banter back and forth is some of my favorite parts of the story. Now with Lina’s memory back, Nord has no reason to tell her no. Their relationship goes from a slow burn to needing a fire extinguisher while reading -It’s HOT! I love the relationship between Lina and Alistair and Lina and Quinn. I think having such strong, likeable characters around Lina helped me love Lina for all her strengths and flaws together. I would highly recommend this book if you love: Paranormal romance that is so steamy you’ll need to cool off after reading. Love sassy characters that will make you laugh out loud. Love adventure. Love the hot #MenByMeg. Want a heroine who isn’t a martial arts expert. Love the Chosen and Keeper series and want to continue in that world.
This is the second book in the series. You do need to read Hint of Danger first. So after an epic cliffhanger in Hint of Danger this book picks right up. As Lina learns who she was in the past she discovers some dark history. With Nord by herself she sets out to find the someone from her past that has wronged her.
This read takes you on a wild ride with not a dull moment in between. As you learn answers to some secrets there is only more questions.
Great characters that will have you laughing out load at moments and saying curse words in the next breath. Non stop action and angst. There are times I wanted to be out there swing a blade alongside Nord or creating magic with Lind. And can we talk about those steamy moments between them. There were hawt, hawt, hawt.
And then there is the cliffhanger. Holy Moly (ok I wanted to insert other language here but you know then they would not publish my review) Ms. Anne is the Queen (or maybe the unicorn) of cliffhangers.
I love nord so much! He is the perfect combination of brute and sweetheart! He tames his Bezerker side well. Lina has such a strong personality as well. I love how this story stays on the plot line and still provides ample amount of details. I already want so much more! All of the secrets that keep getting revealed are just tearing up everything they thought they knew and it doesn’t help that Quinn is erasing memories either. I love nord so much! I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
OK so in my review of book one I said you didn't need to read Monsters Ball, well now there is a reference in this book which happens to be how Nord and her met. So yes it might help to read the story if you want to know about that. But now for this book. It only took a few years but she is back, now the gang is all together and on the hunt. Once again there is plenty of action and intrigue since they are hunting down a killer and all but that isn't all. The fallout may cost a higher price than they ever thought. This author makes sure her books are well rounded with sarcasm, romance, action, emotions (okay a tear tried but didn't make it), intrigue and yeah with a berserker you can believe there will be blood. This however is not the end of the road so don't get all up in your panties because it is a series with a cliffhanger.
Alright, I have to admit this is another favorite by Meg Anne. Honestly, I’ve never been disappointed with her world building or ability to make me feel like I’m stepping into a different world. I leave my boring life and put myself into the role of the main character. Absolutely amazing characters, down to earth with a hint of sarcasm that I love from her. Lina is another strong woman character but has the grace and humility I adore in Meg Anne’s writing. She is so descriptive in her writing there is little effort to picture things in my head. Absolutely one of my favorite writers. I couldn’t devour this book fast enough, I needed answers! Lina and Nord’s relationship, stills my heart, yet adds charcoal to the flame. The ending of this book has me with so much hunger in my heart for the next book. UGH!!! Cliffhanger!!!! Seriously when is the next one ready???
Love, love, love!! MegAnne writes some of the best characters ever and they always get better as the series goes on. If you weren’t already in love with these characters after book one, you certainly will be after this installment! Like many of her books, this one ended with a major cliffhanger but if you’re familiar with her writing style then you know that the final installment of the series will wrap things up nicely so you aren’t left hanging forever. I’ve come to expect the cliffhangers in MegAnne’s books and think they actually play an integral part in the intensity of the stories. This is a fast paced read that will keep you saying “one more chapter” until you end up staying up the whole night just to finish. You will not be disappointed!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Face of Danger begins where Hint of Danger left off......at the bottom of the cliff! It immediately begins to rev up again. Nord and Lina are a dynamic duo (pun definitely intended), throw in Alistair, Crombie and Quinn and it's almost like being knocked over by a wave and rolled around under the ocean. Don't worry, Meg Anne lets you catch your breath (sort of) and then tosses you off the side of the cliff again. MAYBE we will learn all of the WHY's in Book 3.
If you need a little #menbymeg, "I need you rested. I need you whole. With what I have planned for us, I'll accept nothing less." Her eyes were glazed and her skin flushed when she finally managed a reply. "Sweet mother of God, you don't do anything by half measure, do you?" "Not when it comes to loving you." SWOON
