Captain Ryker Terrell sacrificed any hope of a normal existence to be the best at his job. He handpicked the men and women on Hope City’s elite Joint Drug Enforcement Team and led the JDET’s operations to astounding success. With the professional and public acclaim that followed, his name and face became high profile. He knew to expect blowback from the drug cartels JDET forced out of the city, but the smear attack by an envious superior blindsided him. Sidelined by a three-week internal investigation, he rode a desk at the department's Public Affairs division.

That's when he met her.

She wanted to do more than just feed the privileged. Brianna King was on a mission. With her restaurant and others like it, she had the means to help the homeless in the city, but the red tape spewing politicians were driving her crazy. She flitted from one useless meeting to another looking for a champion to push her idea into the right hands. The only things she found were brick walls and bad attitudes.

That's when she met him.

Ryker knew fate had a wicked sense of humor, but really? The woman he knew as “Brie”, the woman who softened his rough edges and made him long for private time away from his precious team, was Brianna King. As in the daughter of Police Commissioner, Chauncey King, and sister of his JDET sergeant, Brody King. Whatever. He'd deal. She was worth it.

Brie was tired of people telling her what to do, and she sure as hell wasn't going to listen to the street scum that threatened her and her restaurant. She could handle the low level hustlers. She didn't need Ryker or her family to worry about her. They had much bigger problems to handle. She should have listened to that small voice screaming for her to be careful.

But, hindsight is always twenty-twenty.

In the family

An excellent book. I though Ryjer stood out in book 3. I actually though he out shone the main character of that book. I was glad he had his own story, and really glad it lived up to its potential.

Ad much ad I like the Guardian book, the characters seem to have unlimited resources, where as the Hope City characters seem slightly more real by comparison. Though I always like the formulae of main characters of the other books on the series returning as great supporting characters in the current books.

I did like Brie as well. She was a good character that is good hearted, but tough when pushed. She is hard working, but a bit naive (to the point where she is the only person who does not realise everyone of her cousins is billionaire). The great the about Ryker and Brie tekationship is that they can call each other on things like that and have fun with it.

A great action packed end to the story and open up a new set of characters in Hope City. Book 8 looks already to be taking that direction. I do hope that a couple more loose end from this book are also tied up. Knowing Kris Michael's work I am sure they will be.

Danger, fast paced action, suspense and wonderfully swoony romance. Ryker is everything I want in a romantic suspense book.

“I know you love her, Son, but being a hero and dying will not do her any good. I want you both out of this alive and well. Understood?”

Each story in the Hope City Series is a standalone but there are some storylines that continue throughout the series. No cliffhangers but I’m always left wanting more in the best way possible.

Holy moly, this story is incredible🤩

Ryker is the story I’ve been eagerly awaiting as he is the Captain of the JDET department and is dating none other than Brianna King😱 This story is action packed and filled with everything id expect by Kris and boy oh boy does she deliver❣️

One question is still unanswered for me but if I know Kris, she will have something up her sleeve of tricks and will wow us in the future with the answer, I’m certain❤️

The epilogue which gives insight into the next book is super intriguing and I can’t wait to find out more about Killian😍

Humorous, Sexy and Exciting!

Ryker meets Brianna and they are very attracted to one another. As their relationship develops he discovers she is the police commissioner’s daughter and that he is a supervisor of two of her brothers. They decide to keep it under wraps.
I so enjoyed Ryker’s learning about the family closeness and how they except him. Have to say how the family found out was priceless. Her father’s reaction as well as the brothers was just to relatable.
Brianna asserts her independence throughout the story and learns how nice it is to feel the safety and security when she is with Ryker.
Kris Michaels does an incredible job creating these two very strong characters. Both come from different backgrounds but blend together and become stronger through an unbreakable bond.
This was an exciting, suspenseful and humorous story that keeps a reader wanting more. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and you cannot go wrong with this author. Well done!

Awesome hero

## Oh how I loved Ryker. And I know some of the reviewers didn't like Brie, but I actually liked her a lot. She was independent, kind, and beautiful. I loved how playful she was and how she stood up for her man, even against her brother. Do I think she should've told her cop boyfriend or cop brothers about the harassment? Of course, but she was trying to handle things herself. All of this was good and I will definitely read this again. However, there was one thing that I didn't like: Ryker and Brie were already together and in love when the book starts which does not match the book description. I wanted to experience them meeting and getting to know each other like it described. When did that happen? In the last book? Grrr. Regardless, these two were fabulous together.

Ryker and Brie

Wonderful story of the DJET task force that brings crime to its knees in Hope City. Ryker is the Captain for JDET. He’s older than most of the men and women that work under him. He’s relentless in his pursuit of justice. He doesn’t break the law. Another member of the police hierarchy of Hope City has it in for Ryker. He’s jealous of Rykers JDET teams success and he has worked on discrediting Ryker at every turn. His previous attempt to bring Ryker down got him suspended from his job pending an investigation.

Needless to say, the time off sent Ryker to the gym to work off excess energy. It was there that he met and fell in love with Brie. The problem with his relationship has many hurdles and snags but the two of them are willing to brave them together for love. The biggest problem is his age. She’s much younger than he is. The next biggest problem, might actually be the worse! She’s the daughter of The Police commissioner and her brothers work under Ryker.

Now, the criminal element is preying on Brie. Demanding payments for safety. The city commissioner that is blocking her and several other restaurants from donating their excess food to the homeless hits snag after snag. Problems continue to plague her and now Rykers reinstated position puts him in extreme danger. With all the difficulties Brie and Ryker are running into, will they be able to stay together and be safe?

The ride was a blast and the smooth, yet exciting way it came to an end was well worth the time that I invested in the book! 5 stars and more!

PERFECT BOOK!!!! 😍

What a fabulous book this was! It was very fast moving.... Filled with thrilling twists and turns.... Suspense and drama that keeps you on your toes and turning those pages quickly!!! I really enjoyed the cases within cases so you were kept following different threads that came together in a cleverly written finale! All the clues and strings were weaved together so well that I was riveted throughout! The love story between Brianna and Ryker was Oh La La!!!! Sexy, romantic and very satisfying. I had forgotten how exciting, sweet, and heartwarming Kris Michaels writes her characters' relationships! Her descriptions of her characters are vivid and so real that I can easily picture each character which really enhances the reading experience! As usual I really enjoyed having all the other people from the other series' books make appearances. I love both families.... Thank you Kris for the epilogue.... Big Thanks for taking us through to the end of the book with a perfect extended ending with Ryker and Brianna.... Many authors take you only so far and then abruptly end the story and the reader is left hanging and unsatisfied. I highly recommend this book and the entire series ( which I now have to go and reread 😄 ).... You won't regret it... It is truly a perfect book!😇

Ryker and Brie

I loved this one! Ryker is the leader of JDET. Brie has a very successful restaurant. The two met at a gym when Ryker was on leave pending an IA investigation brought on by a supervisor that has it out for Ryker. They fell hard before they found out who the other was. Ryker is the boss of one of her brothers. Plus he’s 14 years older than she is. The two have kept their relationship secret until Ryker is shot at home in a drive by and Brie rushes into the hospital worried. She ends up telling off his supervisor and her brother and the secret is out of the bag. The JDET is trying to take down the drug kingpin they’ve been chasing and Brie is being shaken down by a councilman to get an idea of getting the excess food from restaurants to shelters on the agenda for their meetings. She’s also being harassed for protection money by two thugs. This book has a lot of things going on and is very suspenseful. There is lots of friends and family, lots of steam and love.

Ryker Terrell has met his other half but the only problem is that she is the sister of one of his JDET's team members. He doesn't care but when their secret is out well it isn't pretty. Families are so much fun!

Brie and Ryker are both successful and independent but Brie's family is large, gregarious, in each other's business, and well full of love. Ryker's family is quite different, in fact, he is estranged from them until a phone call from Brie brings them back into each other's lives.

Brie is a little too independent and she gets into a bit of trouble until Ryker's job interferes and takes one threat to Brie away but brings her another. Brie is a strong character and I was drawn to her from the start. She and Ryker make a wonderful couple and well Ms. Micheals writes about characters that readers will care about long after the story is finished.

I read this book in one day because it was one that I didn't want to put down!

Ryker Terrell is the captain in charge of the JDET, which is working to break up drug cartels and other drug-related crimes in Hope City. Working against him is Colonel Fenton, who is generally a scourge on the force. Political intrigue abounds. Ryker meets and falls in love with a woman named Brie, never realizing that she is a member of the King family, and two of her brothers are well-known to him. Their love story is sweet since Ryker has generally been alone since his mother had passed away. There is a long and interesting story there and it's worth the trip. Meeting the King and McBride families becomes a big deal, too. The Pena cartel also plays a big part here, as does Brianna's restaurant. A funny moment is when someone points out to her how rich and influential her cousin Justin is and she denies it! Well done entry in this series and the reader can't wait for the next family member to fall.

The story could be so good but it's lacking depth, of any kind. She comes home from work. They talk about his day and his bad boss, Fenton. She brings prime rib, talks about talking with her mom, they have quick sex, she talks about him meeting her family, about maybe starting another restaurant if cousin Justin approves, he says 'that Justin King, the rich CEO of Guardian Security' which is larger than the FBI & CIA combined (nonsense, see note), he asks about Justin's family so we learn about them, she mentions her tire got slashed, they talk about how bald her tires are and she needs new ones, then he puts the food away and cleans the kitchen. You get the idea.

NOTE: The FBI is significantly larger than the CIA, with approximately 37,000 to 38,000 employees, including special agents and support professionals. The CIA's workforce is smaller and estimated to be around 20,000 employees. Expect me to believe that Guardian is bigger than 58,000 employees?! Ridiculous. Boring. DNF.

A family affair

Ryker has been in several stories as the Captain of an elite force who also oversees Brody, works for Commissioner King and is higher ranking than Brock. Brie, the woman he loves, is their daughter/sister..and oh yeah, 14 years younger. Take that dynamic and add in some fast paced and violent filled actions while solving a major drug case and intimidation from politics and that is how this book is a page turner and great read! This is a fun series where family always plays a role. Brie and Ryker are no different. Brie had the large involved families of King and McBride and Ryker had a large family we meet who has a more conflicted background. All the women and men are strong and well developed. There is some foreshadowing in the final scene and epilogue to where I can’t wait for the next book!

JDET Captain Ryker Terrell and restauranteur Brianna King have secretly been dating for three months. He was concerned about their double-digit age difference when they’d met while he was ‘vacationed.’ Now Ryker’s back to his job as her older brother’s boss. It doesn’t help that her family’s joined at the hip with the police commissioner’s family bringing a swarm of cops and a reporter to the party. Brie’s got to bite the bullet, her family insists they come out of the new couple bubble. Now!

Meanwhile, score of little things escalate for Brie as she gets nowhere fast with a crooked politician over restaurants passing leftovers to shelters. Also, Ryker’s injured after getting a direct lead to a notorious drug/human trafficking kingpin his team has been after and is injured shortly after while Brie keeps her issues, that have become dire, to herself.

Kinda crazy, but family!

So many twists, turns and hidden agendas...we never doubt that the King's and the McBride's will get their target, but how just how many hidden agendas are they dealing with and how many of their own have been targeted?
Whilst this book concludes Brie and Ryker's part of the story, there are unfinished plot lines that continue into the next books....which only makes the wait more difficult! But more exciting too, bring on Bekki!
I love Ryker for Brie, he is strong enough to support her without trying to take over and wise enough to wait her out when she tries to hide her problems, I already loved the King and McBride family's but now we get the four gorgeous Ganas brothers too! Yum!

Wow. Best book in the series. Brie is a spitfire. A go getter, caring, independent, loyal, a fighter, a protector and so much more. She is a King , a member of a family if cops and fire fighter. Best friends with the McBride family.
Ryker is loyal and protective of his JDET TEAM . He is honest and even though he is older than Brei, they are made to be soulmates.
After a chance meeting at the gym they become inseparable.
Without knowing it, Brei us thrown into a big drug, cartel revenge mess. She and Ryker almost lose their lives.

Ryker has had a tough life growing up and has become very successful.
His 5 1/2 brothers a d Ryker reconnects after Ryker is injured.

They begin to make amends. But will this turn out well?

Shots Fired! Officer down!

This book was a real life drama with romance thrown in plentiful amounts. Captain Tyler, Brody's boss, is seeing a lot of Brianna King. When she starts getting harassed by some scumbags behind her restaurant, she doesn't tell him, but since he saw her slashed tire, he recommends a video camera. Things escalate when Ryker pulls an informant and hides her. He gets shot sitting on his couch at home, and she gets mugged behind the restaurant. Tracking all this down while he's injured and not supposed to he working and she's mute blows up on everybody. The informant will only talk to him, and they are filling for search warrants as they drive out of the parking lot. And that's the high point!

Love Ryker and Brie

Big families don't always get along and are not close, but some are really close knit and up in everyone's business out of love. Ryker does not have that close knit family like Brie has. Then his brothers show up at the hospital after Brie had called his stepdad. Now things have changed. Ryker is quite a few years older than Brie but she didn't know what he did for a living for a while after they started dating and he didn't know who her dad was. But with hen his case at work breaks open and she is caught in the cross fire before he knows what is happening. Can he get to her before something serious happens? How does her family react to a hem dating?
This is an awesome "dating the bosses daughter" book.

FAMILY

The story took off immediately at breakneck speed and never stopped until the end. Not only was the action very fast paced but the sizzling relationship/romance was hot hot hot. So many twists, and turns, and surprises….it was dizzying, an edge of your seat read with perfectly spaced moments of calm and joy/love. This book also deals with family, the kind that builds you up, as well as the kind that tries to destroy you.
This entire series is fantastic but this book, in particular, is special and amazing, putting it down was impossible. NOT TO BE MISSED READ. DEFINITELY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Ryker

WOW! Another FANTASTIC story by Kris! This story is basically about Brianna King but yet it is about Ryker. It's about this couple who have a wide gap in age. Not judging here, just staying the facts. Anyway, Ryker has his problems with with boss and Brie has her problems with a councilman. Brie sics her sister Bekki on the councilman for her troubles. It's amazing how their problems get intertwined with each other. Brie is kidnapped after Ryker was shot. Once Brie is rescued, Ryker takes care of his case. Once all trouble is taken care of, these two finally work on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Kris! I would recommend this book.

Love Ryker & Brie

Ryker & Brie meet & get together BEFORE he finds out her daddy is his police commissioner and he works with her brothers. But he’s already in too deep with her, which is good because she’s in love with him, but it’s still a secret- just wait til it comes out! Kris Michaels did a brilliant job of weaving an amazing love story with an awesome mystery. I almost can’t tell which part I loved more. I may have to read it several more times to figure that out!

I couldn't put this book down. I started reading it early evening and finished around 1am. I love how normal this series is, the Guardians and other series have so much advantage with unlimited resources but the Hope City world is so down to earth and very relatable. There were times I wished they would have those resources (lol) but Kris Michaels showed us that even "regular people" have their own exciting stories. Loved it!!!! ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY

Hope City books are full of love, adventure and lot of family time.

This story of Ryker and Brie is another wonderful Hope City book. He is a detective and she owns a restaurant. They get together months before the family knows. They find out when He ends up in the hospital. It is a crazy ride with all the family involved plus Ryker's brothers are introduced. Love these stories and the crazy things that happen to them.

Such love between the two main characters

This is by far my favourite story. The connection and love the two main characters had felt so real. You just felt the respect and love they had and the story was great and kept you interested.
I liked how Kris connected the Kings together, it was interesting they were all related and how.
Cannot wait to read more of Hope City.

Each Hope City Book just gets better and better

Readers of Hope City already saw Ryker in earlier books, but his relationship with Brie is sizzling! It's nice to have an older hero who already has his life on track. He just needs that special someone to make life complete. Really good story and I can't wait for moepre.

I really enjoyed this read because it was slightly different from the normal Kris Michaels books. Ryker and Brie were already in their relationship but had hidden it from Brie's family. After all, what man wants the chief of police to know that he's dating his daughter? Or even her brothers who he works with to know he's dating their sister?

I honestly can not say enough good things about Kris's writing. I love some seriously alpha men and the women that tame them and Kris writes them so well.

Love these books and the spin off series. They keep on getting better and better.

Ryker is even cooler

Ryker is more badass and much tougher than I anticipated. Brie has some incidents occur that are very dangerous. They're all finally closing in on the main drug dealers too. There are a few side stories that set up other couples. I like Ryker's brothers so far but I'm sure we'll see more of them.

Such a busy town

The stories from Hope City can't come fast enough. Ryker and Brianna's tale had more than it's share of problems, but luckily their strong desires and some excellent police work win the day.

Another step into solidifying my investment in to Hope City, I need to move there now.

I loved reading Ry and Brie’s story, I enjoyed the banter, the introduction of the half brothers and look forward to the continued development of Hope City.
