Set towards the end of the 'Swinging Sixties, the setting for this gripping and authentic crime mystery is the North-West town of Monkston. A small town that has been effectively policed for 150 years by its dedicated local Police Force. In 1967 the town is rocked by the disappearance of a young teenage girl from the town centre. There are strong similarities to the disappearance of another such teenage girl in 1959. She was found murdered in a local park and no-one was ever arrested. As a young constable in uniform Steve Miller was involved in the search for the her.
Eight years later, Miller is a Detective Sergeant in the town's CID, known locally as 'The Jacks'. He is leading the initial search for the missing teenager and wonders if history is repeating itself. This in a time before modern aids to criminal detection such as CCTV, Camera Phones and 24 hour rolling news
As Miller and his team painstakingly pursue their enquiries they uncover other crimes and become frustrated by the subterfuge of some who should be assisting in their investigation, not impeding it.
As the investigation into the missing girl progresses suspicion falls on her own father and even a serving detective comes under the microscope.
