A family in shambles. A town in danger. Now is the time for Alva McRae’s return to fight for justice and peace.Alva is determined to prove to his townsfolk of Margret on his innocence for trying to rape Leda, and to save them from Vernie Sieckes and his evil gang.Vernie has set his sights on the local mines in Margret. He and his henchmen will do whatever it takes to control the mines, and eventually the town as well.An ugly fight to eradicate the Vernie gang is inevitable. It is Alva’s fight to uphold the peace for his town, a fight to protect his woman Louisa, and a fight for…His honor. When Alva finally steps back into his house after seven years of absence, he opens the door to his father’s bedroom to see Leda looking right at him. She has a gun in her hand, though it is not pointing at Alva. It is pointing at his father’s head.“Leda… stop,” Alva utters. Each novel in the 9-book Western Frontier Justice series is a standalone story that can be read out of order.
Alva Mcrae, wasn't even a man full grown when his dad kicked him out of the house. The bewildered lad would have to wait a long time before finding out why. What little money he had ran out in Lincoln where he hired on as a ranch hand. Seven years later, Alva receives word that his mom had died. Time to go home and pay his respects at her grave. He finds his father on his death bed and finally learns that his cousin Leda had lied about him attacking her. It was a lie that spread throughout the entire town. This is how we are introduced to a new character in this continuing saga. If you have been reading the series, you know Black Horse. He and his gang arrived in Margret several years before and had paid off Sheriff Oleson. Now that he has heard Alva's story, he is certain that Leda and her no account husband, Harmon, were being paid off too. Elam Eskers had tracked Black Horse to Margret. Leda is smart and ruthless, but is she capable of murder? Can Sheriff Oleson help Alva without the town know about his past misdeeds? Vernie Sieckes is in town to buy a mine, and the town too. Leda and Harmon control part of the mine. Jordan and Gaines control the rest of it and do all of the work. Sieckes doesn't enjoy killing, like Black Horse did, but will do what it takes to get what he wants. He is sadistic as Leda is ruthless. There is no way the town isn't going to find out about Sheriff Oleson and there is no way the town isn't going to find out about Leda's lie. The sheriff wants to make whatever amends he can, so he and Alva team up to save Jordan and Gaines and the town. In keeping with the rest of the series, this is an excellent story with no profanity.
Alva proves himself to be the one to rid his home town of the scum that has so efficiently taken over the area! Sheriff Oleson, who has a sordid past, decided to pull himself up by his boot straps, and assist

Not much to get excited about in this book. At times, it was an awfully slow read. At other times, the story line was a lot quicker, but seemed to lack some detail that might have helped the reader comprehend what was happening. As an example, when Alva was preparing to go to the mine for a final showdown, a man showed up with a horse, and a woman showed up with some guns. They were just residents of the town. A little later, Alva seemed to have more guns than he had holsters. He had his own with only two or three rounds; he had a carbine; he had the gun or guns that the woman had given him; and he had at least two guns that he had taken from men that he had shot after he got to the mine. I rated this book a four, although I could have just rated it a three. It wasn't the worst book I have ever read, but it was far from the best.
Each one gets better. You want to read them in order to get the full effect. Alva has waited a long time to prove his innocence. Now is the time. He needs to prove himself. He will be fighting for himself and his town to rid the town of this gang? Will he be able to prove himself?
When you can't trust family, who can you trust? Very sad story, bitter, but ends well. A little slow at times but written well. Recommended for adult and teenage readers.
