not so great
I was really excited after reading the first book, but unfortunately, the second one didn’t live up to my expectations. The summary promised a thrilling plot filled with betrayal and internal conflict, which initially hooked me, but as the story progressed, I found myself losing interest.
One of the biggest issues for me was Bonnie’s character development. I expected her to be more fearless and stronger, given her background and the dangerous world she’s in. While there are moments where we see her strength, most of the time she’s focused on being recognized by Israel, which became frustrating. Yes, the mission started with her being tasked to kill him, but her constant inner conflict and thoughts about trying harder for his approval made her character feel less empowered than I had hoped.
Another major downside was the lack of clarity about who the true villain is. There’s so much going on, but it’s hard to tell who the real threat is supposed to be, and that confusion weakened the overall impact of the story.
At this point, I’m unsure if I’ll continue with the series and read the final book. The potential is there, but the lack of direction and character focus left me disappointed and disinterested. I hope the series can regain some of the momentum it lost, but as of now, I’ve lost my connection to the story.
