The Close by Alison Knight.
The reader is drawn into the private lives of each character through detailed characterisation, observations from behind curtains and by noises heard between the flimsy party walls of the houses in the Close. In spite of this information the story holds many secrets. Interest is piqued by surprising twists and turns and while a number of puzzles are resolved the reader is left wondering about one. Alison is a skilled story teller. A very enjoyable read.

Very interesting from the start

This book was so well written and interesting I felt as though I knew some of the characters. Loved the innocent humor this writer portrays.
