When Prince Rupert sets out to break the mysterious curse that’s destroying his kingdom, he’s ready to face whatever dastardly villain or vile monster stands in his way. What he isn’t prepared for are the bewildering new emotions he feels when he meets the handsome Amir, a rival prince on a quest to save his own realm. Forced to team up, the two princes soon discover that the only thing more difficult than saving their kingdoms is following their hearts.

Wooow, this is such a great story, it's my favorite audiobook, the story is beautiful, we need more stories like this for kids , I'm 16 years old and I enjoyed it a lot. This is for everyone, it's an lgbt+ story that everybody should listen, specially kids.
I love this series. It's so cute. I also love how randomly this series just became a musical in the last bit of the second season and all throughout the third season. The songs were very hit or miss for me, but I did like a majority of them. The first season is definitely my favorite, but I did enjoy them all.
This format of media was a new experience for me! I'm not a huge fan of audiobooks, but this was different: unnarrated, a 3D soundscape with different voice actors and sound effects and even a score. I was fascinated by the way it engaged my imagination almost to the same level reading a book does - through sound alone, I was able to clearly imagine the world and various scenes as they played out. It's really quite fun.
The first season I enjoyed quite a bit. Yes, the characters and the story weren't really anything special, and the plot twist (if you can call it that) was obvious pretty much as soon as the prophecy was mentioned, but the audio journey was fun and I enjoyed the way Amir and Rupert got to know one another.
Season two is where things started to go downhill for me. The boys jumped from kissing once straight to getting married. There was no relationship development; they were always either arguing or saying the most sappy tripe imaginable, but sappy tripe doesn't convince anyone they actually care for one another. They stopped developing and growing as characters, and their relationship stopped developing as well, beyond just surface-level stuff.
Then season three came along. The sappy tripe continued, as well as the cliche plot. None of the characters have much depth, and The characters were caricatures, stick figures as far as emotional nuance goes, often changing their minds at the flip of a coin with no real thought process behind it. All that would be tolerable if it hadn't been turned into a musical. It's not that I hate musicals - it's that the music was incredibly boring and cringey and added nothing to the story. I had to skip over most of the songs. The whole thing, music and plot and characters etc, was entirely unoriginal and lacked any sort of depth.
So I ended up pretty disappointed - I think there was potential, but it really fell short. Even if the plot remained the same, a little bit of emotional depth could really enhance the story and bring it to the next level. So while I did enjoy the first season, the second two (and the third especially) really knocked it down for me. 3/5 stars.
I saw Yassine recommended this to me (hi!!! ❤️) and I never knew this was on goodreads! it's SUCH a lovely story, these two work together so well and it has everything you'd want in a romance: tension, cute moments with genuine chemistry, and a larger than life prophecy (as we all know happens in everyday relationships)
2.5 Historia buena para pasar el rato, pero no tiene nada remotamente interesante. La última temporada sin duda le quitó la tres estrellas que iba a tener originalmente. Se creyeron hsm y lo resolvieron todo cantando. Guys, esto no es Disney.
This was the most phenomenal audiobook! I loved it! Very LGBTQ-friendly and inclusive of non-traditional gender roles. The voice acting was great! They had a full cast, sound effects, and music, including musical numbers. This audiobook got me through a really rough week. I think I'm going to listen again immediately. It was that good.
Overall a fun podcast series! Almost all of the characters were enjoyable, and the various plots through the seasons were interesting enough to keep you listening. I don’t think the second and third season were as strong as the first, but the adventures of the two princes was always a good time. I’ll add a few thoughts on each season below.
Season 1: Princes and parents and prophecies, oh my! The clichés were strong, but that’s the point. It was sweet and silly, which is exactly what it was aiming for. I’m not sure what the current status is on the film adaptation, but I cannot wait! The best season, in my opinion.
Season 2: I have... a lot of questions, but the main one is: Chad...? Also, I am an absolute sucker for an amnesia plot in a fanfiction sort of way, but it was handled in a strange way. Chad was fun, but seriously, what?? I felt this season could have been longer to flesh out the stakes and the tasks, idk. I did enjoy that the villain was nuanced and had a complicated backstory.
Season 3: If you had asked me how I thought the final season might go, “a magic-induced musical” was not exactly high on the list. I enjoyed it pretty well considering the VAs have some musical theatre backgrounds, but why did we resolve the conflict in the first five minutes of the final episode, leaving us with 18 minutes of closure that strangely started to drag at the end (considering every plot line was rapidly tied up in that timeframe)? Actually, why was the entire story going at such a breakneck speed? It was hard to care about the stakes when they felt like the same as season 2 while simultaneously like they were nonexistent. Things happened too fast without explanation or development. It is also CRIMINAL that we did not get more background for Ronny, like dang. And I will fight for any HEA, especially for these royal boys, but I think we could have shortened it - OR - extended the climax a bit, and then had an epilogue episode. Ultimately it was just fine.
Season 1: The story is really cute and the production of the audiobook is fantastic. From the voice actors to the music, everything is perfection. Rupert is relatable and funny, which really complements the brave personality of Amir. Although the romance is borderline insta-love, it does not diminish my love for the first season.
Season 2: This season is a little rough. The romance between the two characters lacks the chemistry in the first season. There were some interesting adventures but I kept feeling that they are undeveloped and uninteresting. I really wished there was a different ending
Season 3: Um...what? When did this become a Riverdale musical episode. I have been enjoying the previous seasons, but the cringey lyrics and mediocre singing just made me really sour. Everything felt rushed and the overall storyline felt a bit lazy. I really wished the stories of other characters could be fleshed out more for the season finale, but I guess I only have this...
Just found out the author of an unfortunately upsetting and disappointing book I finished last night also created this story, and I wanted to give my two cents about this one to balance out my feelings towards this author’s work as a whole.
“The Two Princes” is wholesome, cheesy, fluffy, adorable. The first season will forever be a comfort listen, and it got me through my rough first semester of junior year of undergrad. I then found out during COVID that there were two more seasons released that I didn’t know about, binged them, and decided they weren’t as good as season 1, but were still cute. Plus, more Rupert and Amir, so I’m not complaining about that. Definitely was an interesting choice to go full musical in the final season, but I’m not gonna hate on creativity. I’ve re-listened to the first season many times since finishing the series. It probably deserves a 3.5 or 4 star rating as a whole but again, for the quality of nostalgia and comfort of season 1, it’s getting 5 stars.
The story gives the classic fairytale format a modern feel and makes it relatable for everyone. I immediately fell in love with Rupert and Amir. Rupert, quirky and kind and Amir righteous and brave bring out their full potential in each other. That’s why I was pretty annoyed their dynamic got changed in the second season, because I loved their interaction in the first season so much. But it did give Rupert a true chance to shine. The storytelling in all three seasons is charming and exciting at the same time, carrying a message to take to heart for everyone.
And What a star-studded cast: NoahGalvin (as Prince Rupert) is always a delight and Ariel Stachel fits perfectly as Prince Amir. Christine Baranski and Shohreh Aghdashloo make a great addition as the princes’s mothers and queens.
i LOVED this series so much!! definitely my favorite i’ve heard along with ERRATICUS i loved season 1 the most i think, and i wish i could find more series such as this it’s a piece of joy honestly any recommendations are welcome please!!! :D
