Personne ne me rejette. Entre mon argent et mon charisme, je suis habitué à obtenir tout ce que je veux. À quoi bon être millionnaire si on ne peut pas s’amuser ?
Et je m’amuse beaucoup.
Lorsque Megan vient me demander mon aide, je sais exactement quel sera mon prix.

She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.
A sweet, quick read albeit somewhat lackluster in the suck you into the story but still a feel good read although it could have been somewhat longer.
Megan Clark up and left LA due to a creepy ex she has landed in Austin and now works with Jenna to help save the Fix on Sixth. Yet in all the madness of the contest she is in a bind now with no real way out.
I have no problem with Megan she is just there you know? She is nice and I liked her and well I can’t hold her past against her *cough* see the P.S. In book I thought she was a right mare which she wasn’t here so you know. BONUS.
Parker Manning, rich former playboy now millionaire business man has without his knowledge been entered in the man of the month contest. Per coincidence he sees himself on the flyers although annoying he isn’t too upset as he gets to see Megan again.
I liked Parker more than Amanda although at the beginning he was somewhat underhanded but I guess if you want something enough than you go after it with everything you have and what he wants is Megan. Ever since he asked her out in LA when they both lived there he has craved her.
The chemistry is there but it all felt so rushed. The same with the plot it felt rushed at the end I personally think it could have been fleshed out more.
I enjoy this series very much. There is low angst, no other woman drama. Some would say even a tad predictable.
P.S. What I didn’t need was the reminder that Megan slept with Reece as a one night stand. Water under the bridge and all that shite, thank you very much.
The Man of the Month series all started when the local bar called The Fix on Sixth, owned by Tyree, was on the verge of closing. Long time friends Jenna, Reece, and Brent jump in to invest in the bar and come up with ways to raise money and to bring more customers in.
One of those ideas was to hold a Calendar of the Month contest in the bar focusing on local celebrities. Each book in the series represents the man of that month and this one is Parker and Megan's story.
Megan is working part time at the bar to lend her makeup artist talents to the contestants. She came up with the idea to create flyers of the contestants to create more hype for the bar. When she learned that Billionaire bad boy Parker Manning moved to town, she called up his assistant to get him involved. Too bad that assistant accepted for him with out actually asking him.
When Parker finds his face on a flyer for some contest, he's not happy. He calls up the bar to have them remove him from the flyer and issue a statement that they made a mistake. When Megan shows up to fix the mistake, he changes his plans to finally get the girl that got away.
Parker and Megan are no strangers to each other. They met back in LA and Megan had just started dating someone when Parker asked her out and she turned him down.
Parker was hot! He comes off as just your typical player but you could see that Megan was different for him from the start. I liked these two and they made for a fun story.
We also got a more up close look at Griffin's character since he's such good friends with Megan. He's not the next book in line though. We have to wait a bit before we get his book. He's very intriguing and I can't wait to see who he gets paired up with.
Derek and Amanda are the next in line. They already have an interesting start to their relationship and a bomb just got dropped in the epilogue. I don't know if it's a good bomb or bad. We will see... ARC provided by SocialButterfly PR.
Julie does it again with another hot, sexy and quick romantic read. In Your Eyes is book six in this series and is Parker an Megan's story. I was bit bitter when I first started this one because I really wanted Megan with Griffin and had a sore taste in my mouth in starting this one. But Julie won me over with Parker and his devotion to Megan.
Parker and Megan are acquaintances from back in LA and it's by sheer coincidence that they both move to Austin and are sort of starting over in each of their careers. Megan has been laying low after running from and ex and Parker is just looking to fix his reputation and build a great business.
In Your Eyes is fast paced romance that will sweep off your feet and have you loving both Parker and Megan. They are both attracted to one another and were back in LA, it was just bad timing. And now that nothing stands in Parker's way, he wants to show Megan that he wants more from her than his previous elusive playboy style.
I am loving these quick reads from Julie (some more than others) and as much as I didn't not like that Parker and Griff aren't together, I really enjoyed this one. And now we wait for Derek and Amanda's book next!!
Back to The Fix on Sixth. In the 6th installment of the Man of the Month series, we witness the happily-ever-after of Megan with a man that she thought was intriguing when she first met him and, it doesn't hurt that he's sexy as hell.
Megan did something stupid. Put a picture of Parker Manning on a flyer for the Man of the Month contest without a signed contract. She couldn't believe that his assistant didn't get it in to them after she agreed to his participation. Now, it's up to her to fix this, get him to agree to the contest and apologize for her mistake. She hasn't seen Parker in a long time and hopes that he remembers her and can get him to agree to the contest.
Parker Manning can't wait to see the look on Megan's face with his proposal for him to be in the contest. He has wanted her forever and can't wait to finally be with her. But, when he is all talk and no action, he knows he has to get her to understand just what his end-game is. It's time to open up, be honest, let her know about his past and just what he wants for his future.
So, at first, I was a little put-off with Parker. I was like, “what an ass” … see what he wants, get what he wants. But, that's what is so much fun about this series … there is so much more to the person that what we first realize. J. Kenner is totally enthralling me with this series … it's fun, flirty and sexy. And, even though I have said it time and time again, I can't wait to open my Kindle again in 2 weeks to see what she has in store for us.
Another reminder …. keep reading … are you looking forward to the contest at the end of the series?

A second chance meeting that could change the fate of Mr. June in J. Kenner’s sixth installment of the Man of the Month series. In Your Eyes, Kenner introduces readers to Megan, whom we have met in a previous book and to Parker Manning, a billionaire. Megan and Parker shared a brief encounter in the past and so fast forward to the present, Megan needs something from Parker and this time Parker doesn’t want to lose his opportunity with what if. And so as Megan and Parker begins to spend more time with each other, will Mr. June find himself falling in love. So if you are looking for a fast paced sweet and sexy read then this book is for you. This book had great characters who heated up the pages with their sexual chemistry and as always terrific writing.
In Your Eyes is the sixth book in J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series, and it’s another winner. I’ve been a fan of this series since book one, yet each additional book sucks me in ever deeper. I find myself desperately awaiting the release of the next book, counting down the days until it appears on my Kindle. Each time a new one appears, I devour it, starting the cycle all over again. They’re the perfect books to binge read, and I’m almost annoyed with myself for deciding to read them as they’re released as it is forcing a wait upon myself when all I want to do is consume them all at once. Nevertheless, the obsession is so strong that I continue the cycle of diving straight into each new release as soon as possible.
The Man of the Month series is a collection of interconnected romance stories, proving individual stories as a larger story plays out. Each novel features a favourite romance trope, ensuring there is something for everyone. The first book, Down on Me, provided us with the friends-to-lovers trope; the second book, Hold on Tight, provided us with the second chance romance; the third book, Need You Now, provided us with the brother’s best friend trope; the fourth book, Start Me Up, provided us with the one-night stand; the fifth book, Get It On, provided us with the secret baby trope. With book six, In Your Eyes, we’re given one of the most popular romance tropes out there – the bad boy billionaire.
Although each book is an individual story with a start and an end, I would recommend reading these books in order. To understand some of the details of the story in full, you need to understand how things came to be throughout the prior books. You’re certainly told, to ensure you have the basic facts to understand the story, but it is not the same as experiencing all that happened – for a bigger picture, read the series in order. Now that we’re half way through the series, there are a lot of nods to past events – plus, you start to notice when prior books were making nods towards the events that are now playing out. By no means am I saying you need to go back and read all the books, but I am saying you will appreciate this series much more if you read things in order.
With each book in this series you go in with certain expectations – you have an idea of how the trope plays out and you know who is to be the man of the month. Despite this, you’re interested in seeing how the little details play out – and for those following the series, you’re interested in seeing the additional elements added to the overall story. With this one, there were a few unique elements to make it stand out.
To begin, the bad boy billionaire wasn’t as bad as they often are in such stories. There are nods towards his past, but he’s very much a new man. Usually in these kinds of stories we have to deal with all his a-hole ways – but not here. It was refreshing not dealing with such an element. Another aspect that was different with this one was in relation to the way the man of the month element played out – usually we’re waiting until the end of the book to see the contest, but this time it occurs early on. It was a nice change to the way these stories have been playing out thus far, and I’m certainly interested in seeing more twists in the future books.
While I did enjoy In Your Eyes, I would not label it my favourite book in the series. There was set up for some really big scenes to play out with this one, yet I feel as though the action potential was not reached. I enjoyed the story, as I have all the books in the series, but I had been hoping for a wee bit more on the action front. It would have been enough to ensure I enjoyed this book even more than I did.
There is no doubt this was another wonderful addition to the series, ensuring my obsession stays strong. J. Kenner is such a tease in making us hold out on the stories we really want to see, giving us repeated glimpses at the characters we’re so attached to, and even though Turn Me On is not giving one of the big characters a story I am excited to see how things play out.
Bring on book seven.
Also, for fans of J. Kenner’s Stark books, there’s another nod to the series in this one. Just thought I’d let you all know.
4.5 Star Review In Your Eyes (Man of the Month #6) by J Kenner The sixth book in the series and is story and oh what a story it was, decades in the making. This was a fun quick story which flowed well and was a wonderful read. The books in this series can easily be read as stand alone, but since they are not that long and a quick and easy read I would recommend you one click them all. Parker Manning is my kind of guy; he just oozes Alpha male from every pore of his body. Megan is a woman who is hiding from a stalker ex and although she knew Parker in a previous life the last thing she wants or needs is to be in the public eye too much. When a mix up happens Megan is forced to confront Parker and beg him to appear in the June contest as she has already advertised his participation. She is shocked when he agrees but has one condition in exchange for his participation, a night with her. Parker was interested in Megan when he met her in LA, however she was the one who got away, having been involved with an acquaintance of his. Megan has no choice but to agree and in truth she is extremely attracted to Parker so it will not be that much of an issue. What happens when Parker wants more than a night of passion with Megan, will she risk her heart again or run from a chance at true happiness? What will happen when her pass comes back to haunt her? One click now and find out. Looking forward to Mr.July’s story.
I must admit that I was prejudiced when I started reading the book. I hated Megan from the first book in the series. The logical part of my brain knows that Megan is the last person I should be mad at *cough*Reece*cough*, but for me, it still was a bitter experience. I tried to be the better woman until I read the reminder of that fateful night around 30% and I gave up on trying to like the story. The fact that the book was on the short side didn't help at all because I couldn't connect with Parker and Megan. I am not even 100% sure how they went from two people who only knew each other to been in love. It's mediocre at best and that was a disappointing fact. The characters were well built though and I liked how Megan didn't jump to silly conclusions in the end. I have high hopes for the next book. I already want to read it and see how the next couple will overcome the obstacles the author will throw at them. As the review ends I wanna say that I had negative emotions before I even began the book due to Down on Me (book 1 in the series), so my review is a tad influenced. Please also note that I had predicted in my review of the first book that Megan would get her own story. These things have become a little predictable.
What’s a billionaire to do when he finds himself as the face of a contest he has no knowledge of - one that puts him face-to-face with the one woman he couldn’t get in his bed??? Trade favors with said woman, of course, but in typical romance story fashion, it’s clear from their first intimate exchange that one night will not pacify the connection between them, but what that means for the popular billionaire and the sassy vixen who needs to remain under the radar is something readers will have to find out in the newest Man of the Month release, In Your Eyes.
Readers familiar with the series will remember Megan from Reece and Jenna’s story, which might not sit too well with them knowing what happened between Megan and Reece, but it’s clear that they have all moved on and Parker and Megan have something worth exploring, but that’s only if Megan can let go of her fears and insecurities and trust in a man who wants for nothing in life, except the woman he’s treated differently than any other woman he’s been with from the start.
Mr. June is a rather interesting choice…given Parker’s billionaire status and the fact that he could easily write a check to put the Fix on Sixth back in the black, but that’s not how it works for the bar’s owners, so he gladly goes along with what Megan put has already put in motion because it gets him the woman who sees him as a man not the status of his bank account.
I love how the bar brings all walks of life to its doorstep and also becomes a mecca for couples to finally get together and get things right. In Your Eyes is the shortest of any of the other five books, but I think that’s because Parker is as straightforward as they come, so his upfront agenda is laid out for Megan and then it’s up to her if there’s anything worth pursuing after their one night together and based on the chemistry that ignites between, Parker refuses to allow the woman of his dreams to get away, so I guess it’s a good thing that he’s all in, in being a part of the calendar that’s being created to save the Fix on Sixth.
Once again, J. Kenner brings a couple together who find a common ground and then explore the possibility of what they could be, and while the story lines may be a bit predictable, it’s a sweet, sassy, and steamy escape for a few hours;)
In Your Eyes features the elusive Megan as the focal point of the story. we have encountered Megan briefly in the previous books; having moved from LA where she had a prosperous business as a make-up artist. Megan had a brief fling with Reece in Down on Me before becoming an assistant to Jenna in marketing the Man of the Month contest for The Fix as well as developing a close friendship with the wonderful Griffin.
With so many characters involved in the Man of the Month series, Julie does an amazing job of refreshing the memory with particular details of each character and how they are connected to each other and The Fix.
Very little is known about Megan's decision to leave behind her thriving enterprise to relocate to Austin and start from scratch. as the pieces begin to slot together Megan's decision to cut ties with her LA life begins to make sense and also adds to the drama within the plot especially as Parker has also relocated from LA to Austin. Both Megan and Parker having crossed paths in the past and both intent on re-inventing themselves in Austin.
When Megan inadvertently fails to confirm Parkers participation in the Man of the Month contest, Parker sees it as his chance to seduce Megan, having had a serious crush on her since their first encounter. However, Parker approached the seduction from the wrong perspective, managing to touch upon Megan's vulnerabilities in the process.
An attraction like the one Parker and Megan are experiencing is impossible to resist, from the first spark intimacy and emotions escalate quickly. Unfortunately, their relationship gains the attention of an unpleasant blast from the past, testing the tentative bond they have established.
I loved the way in which all of the characters create a defense to protect the people they care about and how easily they take friends under their wings. Each of the previous couples makes an appearance adding to their individual stories ♥
Oh my stars. I thought the men couldn’t get any hotter in this series but J. Kenner seems to prove me wrong. After a massive screw up on Megan’s part, she attempts the right the wrong by any means possible. Even if it means giving into a man she rejected. Parker is that quintessential playboy but has reformed his ways. But he could never get Megan out of his mind. When this opportunity fell into his lap, I can’t say I blame him for taking it! What I really loved about this story is that while it could be classed as an insta love type story, there was the slow burn build up from their time in L.A. And one thing I really adored was watching Parker break down those walls that Megan has up. These two played so well off of each other that you can’t help but swoon! I love how he became her protector as well as her lover. I am super excited for the next one! I can’t keep up with these hot sexy alphas that Kenner has created!
IN YOUR EYES by J. Kenner is book Six in the Man of the Month Series. This is the story of Parker Manning and Megan Clark. I have read the previous books in this series but feel this is easily a standalone book . This was another great book added to this series. It was a great second chance at love with Megan and Parker. Parker is playboy that tried to in the past to become more to Megan but she didn't take him up on his offer. Now year later she thought that she has his support in a Calendar issue but his office agreed for him but he didn't. So he wanted his name removed from the campaign until Megan shows up and that is a game changer for him. Parker thinks this might be his one change to get with Megan. But Megan has been trying to keep a low profile to keep her past in the past, but can now with Parker that past might just find her. Really Great Read!
So . . . in full disclosure . . . I am super bummed that I struggled with Parker and Megan’s story in In Your Eyes. I have absolutely loved each of the other five books in this amazing Man of the Month series, but something was just off for me with this one.
I struggled to connect with Parker and Megan. I would have loved a flashback or two of their history to really build up their story, their passion, their desire for the other that lasted for years.
And while I did enjoy the quick update on the rest of the Fix on Sixth crowd, I’d have loved to have seen a bit more of the romance developed between Parker and Megan, that they better addressed what stood in their way from dating previously—that their next steps were really steps they would take together.
But one miss in this series will not put me off the rest of the Man of the Month books! I am anxious to see what happens with Amanda and Derek in Turn Me On. ~ Missy, 2.5 stars
In Your Eyes by J. Kenner is the next installment in the Man of the Month series and it is just as hot and fun as the rest of this series has been. The book starts off with Billionaire Parker Manning wondering what this contest he's been booked for is. Since his assistant accepted for him and didn't tell him, its up to Megan Clark to make things right. Megan and Parker have a bit of history together and Parker sees a way that they can both get something they want.
Parker is everything you could want in a rich, playboy billionaire, but something about Megan makes him act different than a typical fling. We get to learn more about Megan's backstory in In Your Eyes and it makes things complicated, but Parker knows what he wants and is a man who does what it takes to get it. These two characters clicked together in many ways, and what starts out as one night becomes more. Parker is a great addition to the Man of The Month series, and calendar and growing and developing Megan's character, who we have known since the beginning gives the book more depth and connection.
Overall In Your Eyes by J. Kenner was fun, passionate and hot. A great addition to The Man of the Month series and I can't wait to see where the next books take us.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
While Parker and Megan's story was hot and heavy, I felt their history was missing from this story. How they get together all starts with an over excited Megan printing a flyer for The Fix's Man of the Month calendar, starring Parker Manning; without Parker's permission. Luckily, Parker has been lusting after Megan for years. She slipped through his fingers before, he won't let that happen again.
There was build up without the exciting conclusion for me and while I am loving the overlap of this Bar and it's customers/staff, the stories are getting shorter and shorter for me. I am hopeful for Mr July, though Mr June sure was yummy.
In Your Eyes was not your typical bad boy billionaire romance. Instead we had a sexy self-made hero with hidden depths and a strong heroine who’d moved on from a bad situation. And together, the pair found passion and friendship beyond their wildest dreams.
Boy does J. Kenner know how to keep a reader’s attention! In this sixth book in her Man of the Month series, we met Mr. June, billionaire businessman Parker Manning. He did have some of the traits I expect out of this type of character: alpha male tendencies, a bit of swagger, controlling/dominant in the bedroom, highly intelligent. But Parker also proved to be a caring, compassionate man, had a penchant for dirty talk (yum!!), and was a romantic. Read More
Another quick and enjoyable read from The Man of the Month series.
I loved Parker and Megan's story, I found their interactions entertaining and intriguing. Almost like a game of cat and mouse a bit. Parker has his sights set on Megan and convinces her well more like traps her into date.
What I found that I loved about that fact was that the date turned out differently then I expected. You will have to read to find out what I mean. But it was refreshing to see that sometimes it's not all the quick victory.
As the story progressed I definitely enjoyed seeing these two together. While the books in this series have been quick reads I felt that this one ended rather abruptly for me. A situation that arises provides a bit of conflict but for me I felt the conflict was too easily "fixed" if that's a word that could be used here. Also, it just seemed for me that the he said he said situation needed more clarification for me anyway. Again don't want to go into too much detail or give anything away.
As is expected with this series we get to see all the characters participate in this story as well as see what's up next.
Overall this was an enjoyable read and I continue to enjoy this series.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the sixth in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you read them in order - the underlying story lines follow through all the books, and earlier pairings are important to the plot overall.
Megan has been helping with the marketing of the calendar competitions and her latest idea has been very popular. Unfortunately her biggest coup was actually not properly secured, so she is now in a bit of a jam. Self-made billionaire Parker cannot wait to get Megan in his office, and to reveal his plans for her. Thanks to this new romance, Megan should now be able to put her past behind her, and enjoy the chemistry between her and Parker.
Each month's new romance has been cleverly woven into the story about saving The Fix, and whilst the man has featured as one of the calendar models, each relationship has developed from unique and interesting situations.
These short and sweet books from J. Kenner are perfect when you only have a short time to read, but want to get a full story. This is book 6 in the series and focuses on Megan and Parker who were just adorable.
Megan and Parker have met before, but had to go their separate ways because of bad timing. When fate brings them together again they both take a chance. Parker was sweet, charming, and the ultimate gentleman. He might have been an extremely wealthy man, but he was very down to earth. Megan was a tenacious, go getter type who knew what she wanted. I admired her work ethic and her desire to own up to her mistakes.
This was a very well written story that focused on a different couple in there series. I loved getting to catch up with pervious characters as well as be introduced to future characters.
I recommend this book to those who love: Austin, tight knit friend groups, easy romance, and sweet couples with a side of hot.
Another quick, hard to put down read. This one had quite a bit more suspense in my opinion, as you had a possible stalker, and other more serious issues than maybe the others I read. There were a lot of little hints and details that pointed you in directions you didn't know you would be taken. But in the end it was basically what was expected, and Parker and Megan get their HEA. Once again I'll mention that I love all the connections to the characters from earlier stories, as well as setting us up for future books in the series. I haven't been able to read all of them so far, due to other blogging and review commitments, but I hope I will have time to go back and read those as well, because I want to know all about these characters. I'm happy that for sure I'll be reading the next one, as it fit into my review schedule. One complaint about this one, I feel it all did kind of wrap up a little too quickly. And the only other issues is that I was just as frustrated as Megan when they got to New Orleans. I mean, that is not at all how he had played his interest!
Another book down in the Man of the Month series is in the book. The Fix on Sixth is yet again the place for hot hookups and the Calendar of the Month contest. In Your Eyes is Parker and Megan’s story.
Megan made a huge mistake getting Parker involved in the Man of the Month contest. While his assistant said yes, Parker had no idea what he was getting in to. However, all bets are off once he realizes just who made the mistake. Parker and Megan know each other having met back in LA.
Once again, another quick, fun and sexy read from J. Kenner. I enjoyed Megan and Parker and their story.
Parker and Megan were hot!! Megan turned down Parker many years ago when she lived in LA. She moved to Austin and the last person she expects to run into was Parker. Parker saw it as fate.
Parker decided to pick up where he left off on LA and still wanted Megan. Megan hesitated at first because of an ex that stalked her but eventually Parker charms convinced her. They had so much in common and their relationship blossomed every day. There was a minor problem but Parker saved her. Cute read.
The 6th novel in the Man of the Month series, In Your Eyes was another fun short read. I loved Parker. Sexy charming and he knows how to preen. Read the book and you will know what I mean. This story took us a bit outside of the Man of the Month contest and gave us a little bit of mystery/angst. It was a fun, flirty quick read and I very much enjoyed it. **I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.**
Wow...this one has to be my favorite of the series...I know, I know I think I said that for all of the previous but Parker and Megan were HOT together. Loved this story and I love how when the man just originally wants just one night but after that night wants a whole lot more. Love that!!
Love Love LOVED Parker and Megan's story, Hot and steamy without too much un needed drama. Great series and again I love seeing the other characters within the series.
Parker Manning is Mr. June in the next Man of the Month book. Parker and Megan have history, will this be their second chance? In Your Eyes was a quick and enjoyable read. I am really enjoying this series!
Possessive hands. Wild obsession. He’ll break any rule to claim her.

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--IN YOUR EYES is the sixth instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult MAN OF THE MONTH erotic, romance novella series focusing on a fund raiser for the popular Austin, Texas bar known as The Fix. This is billionaire businessman Parker Manning, and cosmetician Megan Clark’s story line. IN YOUR EYES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary, although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
SOME BACKGROUND: The Fix on Sixth, a local Austin hangout and bar, is in desperate need of renovations and a quick influx of cash so a plan is put into motion, by a group of regulars, a plan that includes a Man of the Month calendar competition, a recipe book, and a reality show aimed at rehabbing the bar.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Parker and Megan) IN YOUR EYES follows the building romance between billionaire businessman Parker Manning, and cosmetician Megan Clark. With the success of the previous five competitions Megan Clark entertained the idea of having the entrants share fliers with family and friends but in doing so inadvertently jumped the gun on a prospective entrant. Enter billionaire businessman Parker Manning, and the man with whom Megan would fall in love. What ensues is the quick building romance between our leading couple, and the potential fall-out when Megan’s past comes looking for revenge.
IN YOUR EYES is a sexy and edgy, friends to lovers romance wherein our couple, who worked previously together, rekindled a friendship started in LA. Prior to the most recent competition, our heroine accidentally got ahead of herself before confirming Parker’s participation in the Man of the Month contest forcing Parker to ask for something in return-one night together, no questions asked, but one night that leads to something more. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and sensual.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many of the regular who have been working on the Man of the Month calendar. We are introduced to Parker’s friend Derek Winston, who may or may not have a relationship with Megan’s friend Amanda.
IN YOUR EYES is a quick read; a fast paced, enjoyable and decadent story. The premise is spirited; the romance is spicy; the characters are animated and honorable and heart warming.
This series continues with Megan's story. We've come to love her as the girl who is an LA transplant and a great makeup artist. She's come on board with the bar and contest more so as a marketing guru since there's more of a need for that, and her ideas are really starting to payoff for the team. the challenge of course is when she thinks that she's managed to get one of Austin's best and brightest on board and learns that it's not truly the case. To add to that - they have crossed paths before, so you know that it'll get dicey.
Parker is the kind of guy who's used to getting what he wants, and he used to steamroll over people to get those things that potentially seemed out of reach. When Megan turned him down, it bruised his ego, and to learn that she ended up with a guy in their circle who maybe wasn't the best for her, that hurt even more. So he takes a twisted and sick joy out of getting her to do what he wants now that she owes him.
True to form in this series, nothing comes easy. Megan has her own obstacles to overcome, first the fact that she fled LA to get away from an abusive boyfriend and hopes to stay under cover in Austin. Then there's Parker who she's still attracted to as she was back in LA and even considers acting on that attraction. There's also the fact that she's not sure where her next paycheck will come from if the folks at the Fix decide that they don't need her or can't afford her, and the stresses keep piling up.
what's nice here is that even though there's a high level of animosity between these two from the get go, it's fueled by an intense sexual tension that they finally allow to bubble up to the surface and when that happens, it has a great potential to be hot.
The twist of course comes when the past that Megan was running from some how manages to come to the present. She hears from a friend in LA who tries to warn her off Parker in a very similar fashion of what she lived through in LA. then there's the fact that her ex shows up in Austin once he discovers that she's there, and he tries the same tactics. While Megan has a lot of trust and faith in Parker, she almost blindly is willing to believe what her heart says. There's also no resolution to some of the comments that are tossed around, so we get no real closure from any of these folks. It's confusing to me, but oh well.
So, June comes to a close as the previous months have - we get a really hot story at times and a really sweet and romantic story at others. There's a lot of great stuff going on for all the folks that we've met, and yes, while like J Kenner says, these are stand alone, it's really great and helpful to read the full series to see not only the progress of what's happening at the bar, but to learn more and more about the characters and how their lives are intertwined. since they all are.
