The city has gone to crap.

Is it my fault?

Maybe...

Could I have stopped it?

Possibly.

But let's not focus on that. What's important now is that we fix it before it get's torn to the ground.

The city did me dirty, but it's home. I'm not going to let a bafoon in a clown mask harm a hair on the city's little ugly head.

To put a stop to the chaos my pack and I have to do the unexpected- work together as a team.

Ew.

But can we put our differences aside in time to stop the ticking timebomb of chaos that's headed our way?

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

Down in Flames is the second book in the Burning Bounty Hunter series. This book was quick, fun, and very steamy. In all my readings I have never seen a bigger mess than I have in this book but in a good way. The characters and their lives are such a hot mess, it's nothing but pure entertainment.

Cass's life is still a complete and utter disaster but she is growing. Cass is starting to build relationships again, she realizes that she can't go it on her own, that people are important and she is finally getting in touch with her feelings. Also, she has her crime-fighting ways but she is really trying not to kill people, so growth. Cass really does want the best for people in her city and she is tired of the officials not doing anything about it so she takes things into her own hands, can't say she is really getting anywhere but at least she cares, at least she tries.

Then there is Cass's band of misfits, sweet and loveable Cal has been rescued but is struggling with something, a dark spot in Frankie's past comes to light which helps explain some of her crazy, and Dallas past is revealed and things aren't great there but each care about Cass and her missions even if for their own reasons. There is also a new figure that comes sweeping into Cass's life, Caspian, who is of royal fae blood, comes into Cass's life and is enveloped into her world kinda quickly which is something new for Cass but she is trying. Each of these characters is misfits but they are misfits that fit together and Cass needs people in her life, people whose messy calls to her messy, people who don't mind a little darkness, I like them together.

he story is kinda crazy because like I said this book is messy. Cass really doesn't have too many leads on the supernatural drug that's on the streets, she has clues but things are in pieces, not really fitting together. It's kinda hard to figure out where the plot is going because everything is kinda crazy but in a good way. The characters are so different and they don't really act as expected and neither does the story so that is what kept my interest, the not knowing.

Down in Flames ended on a cliffhanger that totally blew my mind. I am severally shocked, I didn't know where the story was gonna go at the beginning of this story and I really don't know what's gonna happen now but I am ready for it. Storm originally thought that this series was only going to be two book series as of right now I have no idea how many books are left but I'm in it now.

I already loved Up In Smoke, but Down In Flames was somehow even better. Cassandra is no longer afraid of letting people into her heart and we get to see some super wholesome moments between her and Frankie. Frankie herself is a little more open and vulnerable, which only made me love her more. We get a few more answers about what happened in the events of Up In Smoke, but there was a major plot twist and cliffhanger at the end (your cruelty is unparalleled Storm 😭), which brought up a whole new stack of questions I NEED to know the answers to. This book was packed full of sarcasm, adventure, badass women, twist and turns, some hilarious scenes and an ending that’ll shake you. I am so keen for the third instalment. This is definitely one of my favourite series you’ve blessed us with 💗

Really liking the story and characters!

This story did a great job at continuing directly from the first one! I like how stories flow like that! It feels like one large story being told over multiple books then multiple stories being told over multiple books. I appreciate and like that. This ending is what really got me though, and makes me want to know what happens next!

Great original ideas, to follow up on the first novel. Perfectly written and fully developed characters. Amazing world building and perfectly accompanied by a great story line, with twists to keep you turning pages and loving every minute. Well done!

Didn't love it quite as much as the first - but that being said, it was still a really good read. Fairly steamy, good plot, some dark themes (yeah trigger warning for upsetting themes of sexual abuse and rape) but on the whole enjoyable.

Good Read

Cassandra can’t seem to catch a break. She has something good happen and then something terrible happens. Her emotions are on a rollercoaster and she wants off!
