Far into the future, an ancient secret is revealed. An omniscient, all-powerful AI -- long thought destroyed -- has resurfaced. Now, five strangers will find themselves connected in a torrent of conspiracy, violence, and betrayal... as they find they are the keys to unlocking a new, digital God.
Leviathan is a 2016 cyberpunk horror novel, released for the first time to the public in 2020. Five strangers -- Jane, Jenny, Virgil, Kane, and Madeleine -- find their fates inexplicably tied to a set of AI researchers centuries in the past. Now, they must explore the harsh wastes of a dystopian world in order to uncover answers about the mystery of Leviathan, an ancient AI that has suddenly resurfaced. However, they're not the only ones interested in finding out these answers: An authoritarian one-world government, a sect of undercover rebels, and a deranged techno-cult are also on the hunt for the keys to the enigmatic AI. Not only that, but the Devil himself is likely to make an appearance.
Exploring themes of free will, ego death, and efficiency, Leviathan uncovers a brutal alternate future where the only rule of law is structure and logic. Felons of any kind are executed on the spot, and the new world order rules over every minuscule part of people's days. Actors and actresses have been replaced by "Idols", or androids that resemble real-world humans. And, perhaps worst of all, people can be hacked... and they are, at a steadily increasing rate.
