Declan Crenshaw went from orphan, to Special Forces soldier, to the CIA’s golden child. Life was perfect—almost. He shouldn’t have pushed his luck and simply enjoyed the bounty fate had given him—a beautiful wife, sweet baby girl, and more love than he ever dreamed he’d know. Until a threat he never saw coming obliterated his world. His wife and child murdered. His soul shattered, he was left hollow. With his morality stripped away, he became the perfect black ops mercenary—soulless.
Autumn Pierce had been normal, happy, average. Until she was kidnapped and sold into the world of sex trafficking. Even rescued, she was forever changed. Gone was the smiling teenager and in her place emerged a woman hellbent on revenge. Years later, Autumn remains a deadly mercenary in a never-ending game of chess. It’s kill or be killed—which isn’t an issue for a woman who’s already dead inside.
With pasts that mirror each other’s, Declan and Autumn have more than defeating a common enemy on the line. Two broken souls with one last chance to be whole.

This is a long review. But it needs to be. You’ll understand why…
One day. Twenty-four hours. One thousand, four hundred and forty minutes.
That’s how long it took me to read Declan. That’s how long it took Riley Edwards to rock my world. And she not only rocked it. She blew it to smithereens. Declan is the last book in the Gold Team series. And Riley took us out with a bang.
As with any of Riley’s books, yes, they can be read as stand-alone books. But WHY would you want to do that? Why deprive yourself of the wonder and enjoyment she brings with her books. Before reading Declan, my advice would be to read the first four books. Heck, go and read the Red Team series. Don’t miss out on those beauties.
But back to Declan, he’s not easy. He’s not perfect. What he is, is damaged and secretive. He’s a shell filled with pain and regret. He lets no one close. Not his friends. Not his family. He can’t afford to feel when he knows how devastating those feelings can be. Until he meets her. Another tortured, broken shell. But somehow he can’t seem to push his feelings aside. He can’t stay away. And this rocks his carefully built world.
Autumn has lived through unspeakable horrors and emerged on the other side. But she did not come out whole. She has picked up the shattered pieces of her life but she hasn’t moved on. She has taken it upon herself to rid the world of evil. To save those who are in the same horrible nightmare she was once in. To protect those who are weaker. Until she saves him. And her fragile walls seem to tremble. He can see her tortured soul. He can see her broken pieces. And he isn’t running.
Riley Edwards puts EVERYTHING in this book. Pain, anguish, love, hate, laughter, tears. Any and every emotion. You feel. You taste. You live. There is a part in the book that summed up everything for me: “My safe place, my sanctum, my harbor. We’re a beautiful mess, baby. Together, we’ll write our future. Wherever it takes us, as long as I’m with you, I’m home.” Riley doesn’t sugarcoat the relationship between Declan and Autumn. They are REAL. Their struggle to find beauty is not an easy road. It is gritty and hard. This is LIFE. You have to fight for the good and work for the happy.
Riley Edwards did a phenomenal job with this book. The writing, characters, and backstory are the trifecta that makes this book exceptional. Even though this is the end of the Gold Team, I am not sad. I know I will run into them again. Just like I know that Riley Edwards will turn me out and make me feel. And I’ll keep coming back for more.
Declan has been a tormented soul with a harrowing past, that he's keep in the shadows, for as long as we've know him. Watching him come to life - in so many different ways - was spellbinding and heartwrenching in equal measure. As always the perfect blend of emotion, intrigue and fast paced drama, sprinkled with the right amount of humour. Edward's has completely owned this story from start to finish and was better than I could have imagine. Riley - you're a star and you've done it again.
This book was bittersweet as I knew we would get an HEA for Dec and Autumn but also sadness for the end of a wonderful series❣️
Declan and Autumn are an amazing couple and have many highs and lows. They both have demons from their pasts that they fight to claw their way to each other😱 I loved the ending and I can’t wait to read the Blue Team next❤️
OMG! This book should come with a box of tissues. Tears filled my eyes more in the first half of the book than any other book I read. It is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The plot is filled with action, truth, lies, betrayal, and redemption. Declan Crenshaw felt broken after losing his wife and daughter. Autumn Pierce felt dead inside after her ordeal in the world of sex trafficking. Together they share a common bond; grief, brokenness, and loss. However, as time goes by, they want more. They want what their friends have, but don't feel deserving. Can they find their way to their happy place?
I love all the wonderfully developed characters in these stories, and Declan and Autumn are no exception. They see the flaws and understand each other. They are perfect for one another. An awesome book that I highly recommend. Riley Edwards rocks.

I know I’m late to the party. This book is something else. Full of tragedy, heartbreak and healing. It’s so full of love, it will make your heart soar. That’s all I’m saying. READ IT!
I was so excited to read this book and it turned out to be my least favorite in the series. Honestly, I did not like how Declan and Autumn left and the epilogue was really not what I was expecting. I wanted to hear about the whole team and not just Autumn and Declan's kids.
Declan was a former CIA and special forces soldier. When he lost his wife and child he was deep down broken. He met Autumn Pierce Who is Emily’s sister the Gold team met in a previous op. Declan recognized a kindred broken spirit.
Autumn and the Gold Team who are after the head of Omni Madeleine Strotherby. There was a lot of emotions happy, sad, crying and a lot of tension in there relationship.
At the end the twist from Declan so they can be together.

Declan first appeared as a character in book 3 of Red Team (Redeeming Violet) and has intrigued Riley Edwards fans ever since, he now finally has his own story and boy oh boy what a story it is, thank you Riley this has been so eagerly anticipated and you delivered in spades! You could read Declan as a standalone but I very strongly recommend that you read the Red Team and Gold Team books first to get the true measure of Declan otherwise you are missing out and depriving yourself of so many incredible stories and hours of reading bliss. Declan is a closed book to those around him - cold, emotionless and secretive, he's shut himself off and let's no one close. He won't allow himself to feel because feeling something means pain and devastation and he can't go there again but when he looks at Autumn and sees his own tortured soul reflected back he can't pull back from her. Unimaginable evil touched Autumn and shattered her life, she survived but only as a tortured empty shell of the person she once was. Autumn now exists to eradicate the world of evil and protect others from suffering like her no matter the toll it is inflicting on her soul. Two shattered, tormented souls find a degree of peace in each other but the carefully constructed walls they've built are starting to crack, feelings are emerging that terrify them both. Will they be able to rebuild all that is broken in each other and find a new way together. A truly brilliant beautifully written story filled with emotion, utterly heartbreaking in places (you will cry), counterbalanced by action and intrigue and plenty of laughter too. It is a completely fitting end to the Gold Team series and an utter triumph, Riley Edwards you are a star.

Every book gets better and better. This book tied quite a bit of characters together and closed off future thoughts near the end of the book. It also opened up another path for Z Corps too.
Their individual stories are a hard won journey and the trip is amazing. Autumn has turned into an assassin to rid the world of slave traffickers. Declan is a former marine and a leader of Z's Gold Team. Both of them are quite scarred mentally. Teamwork is a hard fought battle, especially when Declan says "You didn't take anything. I gave it ... willingly." Secrets are kept from some players and family and then are slowly revealed when the time is right.
By chapter 10 I was gutted, and the more you read the more pain you feel for each of them. My stomach was in knots while reading this book, the emotions come through loud and clear and you can feel everyone of them. It's hard to explain the feelings I get when I read one of Ms. Riley's books, you are the characters and you feel what and when they feel. It's hard to take your own advice when its for yourself. "Take it. Take it, Declan, wake up and reach for it brother." 42, 672, 103, special numbers, but Autumn takes the one number the wrong way. I will always read Ms. Riley's stories, in fact I've read a few more than once. You won't be disappointed in this book or any of her stories.
I received this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
Our closed off, grumpy team leader, Declan knows he shouldn’t be seeing Autumn Pierce, he knows the lies and deceit will hurt the people on his team, his brothers, but he can’t bring himself to step away from the one woman who has been able to quiet his demons. Autumn knows she’s dead inside, and she likes it that way and the comfort it brings but when Declan starts to melt those icy walls she’s built, she doesn’t know whether to run or stay with the only man she’s ever given herself to. Sweet mother of angst, this book is heavy! Luckily for me, I love a good soul-torturing book and Declan and Autumn are as torturous as it gets. Coming in to this book we know both Declan and Autumn are broken and have no interest in being fixed, it’s what attracted them to each other. But, every night they spent together, every time their eyes met, they broke down a little of each other's barriers and slowly brought each other back to life. They said the first time they saw each other their soul recognized the other and goddamn is that not the best thing you can hear? A love so out of bounds, out of control and soul-stirring that you unconsciously surrender yourself to another person, and just wait for your heart and head to catch up. I was a blubbering mess reading this, and I’m afraid it’s ruined me for every other book out there. Declan and Autumn own my soul and have solidified themselves as one of my very favorite couples, ever. Riley, you truly outdid yourself with this one.
There are parts of this book that are heartbreaking, and it is not a joyful, happy read. Declan’s story is hinted at in Thaddeus (and, while this is a standalone, your experience will be richer for having read Thaddeus), and finally Autumn’s story is also told more clearly. Writing anything about the story itself will provide spoilers, and I would hate to do that. Let me just say, then, that the men of the Gold Team, with Zane, are the people you want at your back in a crisis, that Riley Edwards has again written characters that work their way into your heart and take up residence, and that there is so much caring in this story that it is almost impossible not to be touched – by the men, the women, Tex and Beth (and what a bonus to have both!), and by Declan’s tattoo and how he shares that at last.

I really enjoyed this book.... Declan and Autumn's story is raw pain and sweet healing all rolled into one. The way they knew what the other needed was sigh worthy and it has been a while since I read a book and wanted to cry in almost all the chapters... and yes! Declan does sound like Dr Seuss sometimes and the words that the two uses in the book had me wishing for things I'll probably never have.
I don't want to say a lot about the book, because I really think it is a must read and that if you don't you are missing out on one of the best books that Riley has written so far. She has put so much emotion into this book and the love, hope and healing is almost tangible and takes your breath away. I loved this book. And I can promise before the month is out I will read it again.

Declan's story was worth waiting for. Fans of Susan Stoker fans will love appearances by favorite characters Rex and Beth. Declan and Autumn have off the charts chemistry. I love how two broken people are able to heal and complete one another. Awesome to get lots of time with my favorite Zane Lewis. Wonderful conclusion for the Gold Team series.

I am a huge fan of Riley Edwards books and this book did not disappoint. It was well written and edited with a excellent story line. I love all of characters and being able to follow up on their lives after their books are completed is awesome. The characters are easy to relate to and you can feel there emotions coming off the page. I especially loved the ending of this book.

Declan and Autumn’s past is so incomprehensible that my heart bled for them. Two people...broken beyond repair. Each wanting to heal the other, but never feeling like they deserved any of life’s goodness for themselves.
Declan is Book 5 in the Gold Team series by Riley Edwards and once again I am in awe of her writing ability. This book is so full of emotions that you will need a box of tissues at your side. Five simply amazing ⭐️.
Better grab a big ole box of tissues because you will need them reading Riley Edwards’ newest release Declan. It is gut wrenching and brings home some of the horrors a victim faces. Both Autumn and Declan have hung on to their pain for so long. It has helped them survive but are they really living? This book also has Zane, Declan’s team, Tex, a mission, questions of trust and two people who are hurting, healing and learning to love.
I really don't have words for this book, but I am going to try. Riley you are a wonderful writer and author! Declan's book was a great ending to the gold team, I could not put it down until I finished. It took me on a roller coaster of emotions, sad, angry, happy and even a few tears. The story is so well written when I finished it felt like a gaping hole was left. I was sad that gold team had ended, but was so happy the way it ended for Declan and Autumn. I can not wait for the blue team because I am not ready to let Zane and his teams go! Have tissues ready and clear your day you will not want to stop reading once you start. Absolutely love this story and will re-read this series several times.
I've waited a long time for Declan's story then when Riley introduced us to Autumn in the last book I hoped we'd get to see what happens to her ! Riley has given us just what we needed to end this series! It's emotional, sad, there's the shame and despair. It's an intense read. It's renewing, learning to forgive yourself, and reconnecting with family and friends. I don't want to give away things but, Riley has done it again her books only get better and the characters worm themselves into your heart. Thank you Riley for a great book and ending to this series!
I always think Riley Edwards cannot beat her last book until I get the next one...so much emotion, lust, anger, loss, heart break with everything these 2 have been thru. I bawled like a baby not once but several times...and then Riley pulled out the big guns to mend all of the hurt, harm, hate and filled them with love...whew!!! I loved it💞💞💞💞💞 I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
That was wonderful. A beautiful story that made me laugh and cry. What I wish all families could have. These books are a little much when it goes into their sexual encounters but the love shown to each other is so beautiful.
Waited a long time for Declan’s book and it was so worth the wait. I laughed and I cried (which I normally don’t do). It was great to see Declan & Autumn get their HEA.
I don't even know how to describe how good Declan is! Back in Thaddeus we met his wife Emerson's sister Autumn. If you read Thaddeus you know what Autumn has been through and what she has been doing for almost the past decade. If you haven't read Thaddeus I do recommend reading it first because even though Declan stands alone a lot of the backstory begins there. We also get to know Declan's story. Why is he so sad and stoic. Why does he always act so grim. Declan is an emotionally charged, action packed journey of two damaged souls that should not be missed! Declan and Autumn are two kindred spirits that have been forged in tragedy and they both deserve peace and love. I will not give spoilers but I will tell you that this book has so much angst, heat, action and love that it is spilling off the pages. It was told from dual POV and made my heart burst with happiness reading it!
I bounced ahead because I needed to see Autumn heal. It didn't hurt that Autumn healed Declan too. These two had heartbreaking baggage. Yet, it showed that damage in the right hands could be healed.
Almost from the get-go, Riley Edwards puts you right in the middle of some heart pounding, fast paced and dangerous action. She really digs deep into intense, volatile emotions such as guilt, shame, despair and deception. Declan Crenshaw and Autumn Pierce are both incredibly damaged by their pasts. They have to learn to absolve themselves of guilt and let their spirits be cleansed. Forgiveness of self, reconnecting with family and learning to love one another is the path to finding a new lease on life. I loved the last few chapters where Declan and Autumn finally find contentment and their HEA.
Riley Edwards has perfectly set up the Blue Team part of this series by introducing the team members in Declan. Can't wait!
What can I say about this book?? I’ve waited months for the release of Declan‘a story. Autumn and Declan are so broken that I felt it in every word. Never have I felt such emotion when reading a book. I cried, I laughed, I got mad and disappointed all in one sitting. Please whatever you do don’t read this as a stand alone. You HAVE to get to know the other guys/women in this series to get to know their reactions, their mannerisms. You need to get the full package deal to appreciate what it is to know Declan Crenshaw. Heart wrenching good isn’t a well enough way to describe this story.
loved this book I waited a long time for Declan's book and it was well worth the wait I fell in love with when he first appeared in the red team series I am glad he got his HEA, It was lovely how him and Autumn found each other.

Omg!!!! This is definitely my new favorite. Declan and Autumn are both in pain. Their pasts have ruled their lives and won't let anything else in. They use each other. It's time to move past the past. End their haunts and move on. It will take everything they have to face the ones they hurt so they can move on and be happy together.
I have been waiting on Declan's story since the Red Team series, and we met him in Redeeming Violet. Declan, Violet's twin, had been separated from her when they were young. Violet got a happy upbringing while Declan didn't. It shaped the adults they became. Declan is damaged, secretive, and doesn't want to "dirty" Violet with his past. But we don't know what Declan's history is, and so we know Declan has a story.
His talents are valuable to the Z-Corp, and Zane decides to give him his team: the Gold Team. We have enjoyed their stories as each Brooks, Thad, Kyle, and Max have found their HEAs with strong women they love without bounds. And all have had to overcome something, however dark, to reach that end. All of their stories have revolved around the reoccurring theme of the evil Omni Group, whose purpose is the human trafficking of women. It is amid these adventures that Declan meets his healing and his future.
The wait for Declan and Autumn's story has been worth the wait. To truly understand the depth of emotion that runs through this novel, you would have had to meet Declan in Redeeming Violet. And just as an aside, you can't go wrong reading all the books. Seeing both of these deeply scarred individuals discover healing in each other was definitely some crying pillow material. There were unique statements made by Declan all through the book that was pure Declan, and every time he said them, I just smiled as yet another milestone in his healing passed.
The Gold Team is not the first series that I have read Riley end with grace, love, and heroism. All of them leave bittersweet memories of characters we have grown to know and love, but we also know it's time to move on. We have a new Z-Corp team to get to know the Blue Team, and I am sure we are in for more adventures with Zane being his usual acerbic self (with adorable dimples). And just as much as the Red Team left an impression, so has the Gold with Declan being a genuinely golden finish.
We have known from the introduction of the Gold team that Dec’s story was gonna be a wild heartbreaking ride. We have seen glimpses into what has made him the man he is today in tid bits throughout all the books. The heartache and pain he has dealt with in the loss of his wife and child. He was also separated from his twin at birth, finding her when she graduated from high school but never introducing himself to her, then meeting her again when she had to clear him for his undercover stint in the CIA. He has always been a loner, his team is there for him but a few know he hides a deep dark pain that he hasn’t ever shared with them. Declan first meets Autumn Price when her sister Emerson is searching for her, while slowly weeding out sex traffickers putting herself in danger. Autumn was a victim of sextrafficking. She has struggled all her life since then thinking she wasn't good enough and that her life didn't matter anymore. She has become a strong force and rescuer of women and children kidnapped, and headed for that life. She has done many things to save those who have needed saving but doesn't think she deserves to be saved and stays away from her family. Dec struggles with the loss of his family and struggles with the darkness in his heart. Autumn is the light that feeds Declans sole. Can he be the light for her. This is a very well written story that will capture your attention from the very beginning. We see how the struggles of heartache affect those around us as much as those that suffer. Very heartfelt read. Hard to not give away spoilers. Grab a bottle of wine, some chocolate and a box of tissues. I believe this is my favorite book yet.
