The Danans #6

Shattered

Rate this book
Darkness stalks them. Can they defeat it?

Marissa was a happy college student back on Earth before her abduction. Now she’s a broken, terrified woman who wants nothing more than to forget everything that has happened to her in space. To do that she must agree to a healing session with one of the dreaded Danans, the species who abused her.

Kius is a Spirit-Walker who specializes in trauma healing. When he agrees to help the traumatized victims of the renegade Danans he expects the experience to be as agonizing for him as it is for them. After all, Danan warriors were now struggling to come to terms with shattered beliefs about their own kind. They weren’t always the good guys. They could hurt women, and worse still, podmates, if left untrained.

When Kius meets Marissa he is stunned to feel the podmate bond activate. It should be impossible because his brothers died during a raid by the Vargeez twenty years before. Yet the connection is impossible to deny, and it sets off a galaxy-wide search for missing Danan warriors stolen in childhood.

As secrets are revealed and plots uncovered, Kius and Marissa work to reunite their pod. But a great Darkness looms over them all, hiding the truth and leaving devastation in its wake. One brave Danan will give his life to save them all, but will it be enough?

Nhys Glover is an Australian born award-winning author of over 75 romance novels. She is known for blending heart, heat, and a touch of the extraordinary in her stories. From time-traveling lovers to soul-deep polyamory connections, her work explores love in all its transformational forms.
Now living in Durham County UK, Nhys draws on her background in teaching and spiritual inquiry for inspiration in her writing. As she sits at her desk, staring out at the windy moors, she often reflects on what it means to stay human in an increasingly digital world. It is, after all, the subject of her newest book, a non-fiction called Authenticity, as Taught by a Machine.
But no matter the genre, Nhys is always chasing one thing: the truth at the heart of every story.

OK, i think this one is the worst so far in the series. It actually made me snicker. Not because it was funny, but how mutch ridiculousness was there. Maybe I am just spoiled by good writing and believable storys to be able to swallow this rubbish. Maybe author rushed to get as mutch as possible into as little as possible page count or maybe it is just trash read. Whatever the reason, this was an overwhelmingly simplistic and ridiculous story.
For me personally, the worst an author can do, is to not have a believability in the story. No matter how futuristic or unrealistic the story is, I as a reader, should believe it is possible. The feelings, the reactions, the bad and the good, the events- they all should feel real while I am reading, I should feel invested and sucked into the story, not roll my eyes and contemplate if scrubbing a floor may be more entertaining than a book I am reading . So yeah, that's my opinion on this book. It is not worth either money it costs or time spent reading it. Bull....t is what it is. The only reason it got 2 stars instead of 1, is my previous experience of books worse than this with crappier writing that my 1 star ratings are reserved for. That's not to say this book was mutch better.

One of the best RH books/series I’ve read...

Really enjoyed this whole series, but this book really tugged at my heartstrings. Loved the characters, romance and darker storyline. The HEA was bittersweet but a great way to end this story. I hope to read more of this awesome series.

Trigger warning

I'm kind of grumpy that a warning wasn't really provided. Yes, the description mentioned assault, but it was something that the characters dwelled on quite a bit, especially for a "romance" book.

Too much plane walking to understand

I definitely did not enjoy this story as much as the others. I just could not wrap my mind around the esoteric and plane walker theory. It was too much in the ethereal and not in the physical plane.
