If you’re new to board game design, this book will show you what to do to avoid the same costly and time-consuming mistakes that this experienced game designer made when he was first starting out. Not only that, but he has also reached out to his following of over 1,300 game designers to learn what miscues they made and what mistakes they commonly see other new game designers make. Filled with tips and advice, this book is a must-have resource for new game designers .
Slack does a fantastic job guiding the audience through game development. As someone who has never done something like this before, I was surprised by how many mistakes I was immediately falling into! This book shares a lot of great resources and I felt more prepared moving forward by the end of it.
A good book which offers some useful insights into the world of board game design for those starting out.
It was a novel, somewhat unsettling experience to read a book that gives one the experience of watching a YouTube video. With content and product plugs at least every other page and a colloquially anecdotal tone, the translocation from online recorded content to the page is self-evident for this author.
I would warn readers against viewing this as a comprehensive review of the board game design industry, as it tends towards in-the-box thinking around this particular designers experience.
Nonetheless, the book is a considerate work that deserves perusal for those who are doing reading on this subject. Personally, I'd recommend this as a supplicant purchase for anyone working through books by Adam in Wales.
