First, the front cover of this book is absolutely stunning like real eye-catching love it, these books have such pretty faces. I have previously read a collaboration from this author which I enjoyed but this was actually my first solo read by her. So this was well written and imaginative. It’s set in the same world as elemental fae academy and midnight fae academy and is a universe created by two separate authors. So, unfortunately, I initially struggled to connect and because of this, the first half was slightly a slog for me. It definitely did pick up in the second half which I did prefer. I think the issue for me here was this was rather slow initially add in how confused I was at the world dynamics and many rules (there seemed to be a lot) and I was left slightly bemused and my brain working overtime. Once I got my head around it all I was able to settle in easier and it all flowed better for me. I also wasn’t a fan of all the running Gina did I was confused as to the why of it all, there just didn’t seem a point to her flight. Also, Seif and Axel had limited redeeming quality’s if any and I wasn’t a fan of the natural hierarchy within the mate circle in regards to Zeke and Rowan. That aside this was very well written and my above points are mostly plot dislikes so it’s more an individual preference than anything fundamentally wrong. I did especially like the dub-con slant this had and it wasn’t the darkness here that bothered me I actually loved that part of this a lot. Also, be aware this is dark reverse harem omegaverse with M/M as well as M/M/F and M/F/M I didn’t find it especially dark myself but it will all depend on your own barometer really. By the time this finished, I was on board and do want to know what is coming next. Seif did start to grow on me and we got brief glimpses of who he could be rather than how he’s behaved so far. There are obviously reasons for his current behaviour that completely disregard his alpha status. In regards to the betas themselves I disliked Axel immensely so he’s got some work ahead winning me over but Zeke and Rowan are such complete sweeties. Gina well I’m not really sure about her I do find her slightly annoying and overly difficult. I think this first book concentrated so much on her escaping her destiny we haven’t really got to delve that deep into her character and who she actually is beyond the superficial. I especially liked how the omegaverse aspects of this were unique and imaginative. Spun in a way that was so different and unusual. So yeh equal pro’s and con’s from me. It will be interesting to see how this progresses forward. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of fortune fae academy book one.
This is one of my favorite authors and I have never given her less than 5 stars. I am sickened by the book. It says dub-con but let's be honest it's rape. I love this world that With all the other series but this one is horrible. I don't like any of the characters but Gina. Two of her men are weak minded and the other two are rapists. I will NOT continue this and I'm not sure if I will read any more of Thorn's books after this. I am so disappointed.
I'm tempted to give this book zero stars just because of how horrible this author is for leaving the story at the point she did. How can I function, how will I ever sleep, what will I do until the next book is released?😉😂
This ends on the cruelest of cliff-hangers but even so it is 100% worth reading this book. I love Gina, Zeke and Rowan, I'm undecided on Axel and I currently loathe Seif with passion that borders on insanity. I started off with pity and sorrow for him, since the core of his quest was built on the very best of intentions, however his total disregard for anyone other than himself, his unrelenting pursuit and treatment of Axel and Gina, soon made me dislike him. A lot.
Then the hulking brute would do something nice, something that felt almost honorable, and my feelings would waver. Sadly he would then return to being that arrogant, self-centred, thoughtless posterior-hole that left me wanting to skewer him with a rusty fork. Until that man shows an inkling of empathy, emotion or care for someone other than himself he can rot in the blackest, most remote edges of the web for all I care. In fact that's far too good a fate for him at the moment. There is a huge part of me that is kind of hoping Gina escapes him, though I'm sure by the end of the series I will have made a whole 180 flip on that and will adore the very ground Seif walks on. And won't that just encourage the insufferable alpha.
God I love a book that makes me feel. And this had that in spades. It has sweet moments, angry moments, happy moments, anxious moments and despairing moments, all of which combined into an amazing must read story. Gina is so strong, so independent and so determined to avoid a dire fate. She is tough, resourceful and caring and you can't help but love her. Zeke and Rowan are amazing and the perfect Beta's for this Omega. The glimpses we got of Axel at the very beginning of the story did endear him to me, though his treatment of Rowan knocked that sideways. I need to see more of his pov in the next book to help me get a true feel for him.
The story is one roller coaster ride and it hurtled at break-neck speed from the very start of the book. It's not even a quick read, and by the end I felt as though I'd been dragged through the mill, but in the best way possible. I will warn that this Gina and her mates don't actually get to the Academy until almost the end of the book. There is one heck of a lot that happens before that point - and all of it is good. Just to inform based on some reviews that query why Gina was running - the answer was mentioned several times. She saw (because she can divine the future) that mating with Seif would trigger her to have a vision that might very possibly destroy her mind.
I may just have a slight book hangover from this unputdownable story!
No. Nope. No. Non-consent is a BIG no. I don’t mean the bdsm non-consent but there’s a safe word kind. Look, I’m all for omegaverse strong alpha-males and full on hot smutty domination, but there’s a BIG difference between that and borderline rape.
Don’t get me wrong, I really wanted to like this book. I like the lore (I’ve read Elemental Fae Academy and enjoyed it), I like Gina, I like the harem... it was all good if not for the alpha.
The ending scene where he straight up DRUGS HER, send her in heat, and knots her is where I draw the line. Call it paranormal, call it an “elixir”, it’s still Non-consensual rape. Doesn’t matter that she might have enjoyed it, doesn’t matter that he might know she wants it, no means no.

Before I get into the nitty gritty below, I want to state that I definitely will buy book 2, because I like an Omegaverse and want to see where this goes. There’s a solid and interesting astral world—the Web—though I would like more clarification on it. Anyways read below for my ~review~
I really wanted to love this—I love a good omega verse tale—but well into 50% not much has happened. We know who her mating circle is, but it’s generally unclear how much is happening in the “Web” where every single timeline converges (?) or in real life.
I generally disagree with playing with time, but this novel made me double down. All the characters seem to play with time and possible futures on a whim, and make reference regularly to all the different potential shimmering chords of fate, but it doesn’t seem to do or mean anything??? We don’t actually know enough plot for the potential changes to matter to us.
It’s also unclear why our dear MC, Gina, is running. From who? Why? There’s a big-baddie, but no clear reason why Gina running from her Alpha will delay said big-baddie. I’m confused—I like all these characters, but I think I would like them infinitely more if they were in scenes together.
Upon sitting with this--I have decided to add to this review. This book was agonizing--I don't know why Gina ran from the Alpha for so long, especially when her decision led to the essential destruction of Rowan and Zeke. That was the one part that actually was compelling--how Zeke and Rowan fell. I don't understand why there's so many damn futures and I don't know why Gina could see every single one except the one that was like "we're all going to be in love and crazy powerful.
This was a slog--it was like a choose your own adventure, except I had no choice and it ended up being the most meandering path imaginable. I genuinely have no idea why Gina hated Seif for so long. A lot of the novel felt like Gina fulfilling her part in other people's story, and uselessly and infuriatingly running from her Alpha. If she is so deeply important to the story--get your shit together, girl.
The only introspection we got from Gina was "run, run, run, run" not "why why why" or "If I carry on like this I will literally die."
I'm struggling a bit here to a conclusion, but alas. Like Gina, the sticky webs of fate will hopefully give me one billion options, and no matter what path I choose, the endpoint will be all the same.

Forget Romance, this is NOT a book about Romance at all. I liked Gina from the previous books... but even when I tried to bypass all the scenes of 'dominance' (aka RAPE) by the male characters it just becomes abhorrent at every level. The Alpha never learns, the Beta that wants to turn Alpha is just as bad, they complaint constantly, the author thinks that is appealing, but she is wrong. it is just disgusting to see bad characters at play. The additional characters are just as bad. Seriously, all I wanted was to read the story of Gina, but it is not even worth going through that hassle. the rest of the story is a disaster waiting to happen, that happens. Overall, and just because I tried to read Gina's story, I had to skip bad written parts, or rape parts constantly... So no, I will not recommend reading this book, even if is FREE.

June, 2022 Read yet again, third time and this book / world DOES NOT get old. Cannot recommend it enough. ***
This book does a fabulous job of demonstrating Thorn’s amazing skill; a skill that is clearly growing the more she uses it at that.
This is a dark, omegaverse read and it contains dubcon and a hierarchy you might not appreciate if you’re close-minded or sensitive or easily triggered, so consider this a warning if you can’t handle such things.
That said, it’s epically, brilliantly done and throughout the read, I couldn’t help but marvel at Thorn’s talent. The reader is treated to multiple, alternating POV and may find themselves rooting for everyone whose POV they’re treated to … yet each one’s goals/ life mission / contradicts at least one of the others’. You’ll be kept on your toes for sure. It’s fast-paced and complex at times, due to the nature of the fortune fae and their realm. I strongly recommend having read Elemental Fae Academy: The Complete Trilogy, Midnight Fae Academy: Book One, Midnight Fae Academy: Book Two and Midnight Fae Academy: Book Three prior to starting this world. The more familiar you are with this world and some of the other fae realms, the easier it’ll be to grasp, as it all becomes second nature eventually.
As someone who’s been treated to a few scenes with Gina now, thanks to the books I already mentioned, plus Elemental Fae Holiday: A Why Choose Paranormal Romance, I was extremely amused by finally reading in her POV. Much of what other people find frustrating about her is really just her trying to be helpful. They think she’s sort of flakey, or off in the clouds, but she actually deeply ponders things first. Brilliant character development, continuity and perspective. Again, demonstrates extreme talent on Thorn’s part.
🌸 Ebook: Absolutely stunning and free of distracting errors.
🌸 Audiobook: Yummy. The male narrators’ voices are pure sex, but also smooth and easy to listen to. The males’ pronunciation is great and tones tend to be appropriate. The female has a smooth, pleasant voice and I’m a huge fan of hers. Her accent isn’t always ideal. After many listens to her, I do still find myself just momentarily distracted or confused here & there. For example: “This was a secret I doubted minnie knew...” and i’m like “Huh? Who’s Minnie??” for just a second before I realize “minnie” is this narrator’s way of saying MANY. Similarly, “offending” is “offinding” , meant is “mint”, etc. 99% of the time, this is a non-issue and I do seek out books by this narrator, as someone who has trouble listening to most people read. 4.5 stars for the audio performance.
5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌸 Ends on a wicked cliffhanger but totally worth it.
First up, I love this cover! Secondly, this book is really dark. So if you like a sweet story about people falling in love this is not the story for you. Loads of sexy times which is always a good thing.
But...and this is a big but, this was also really confusing. I couldn't actually work out who the bad guy was. I get it that there is an overarching bad guy that is trying to do mega bad things but there wasn't much the way of development in this area and I found the whole story a little confusing.
The focus is solely based on the characters and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm sorry but the characters weren't strong enough to carry this book. Seifiek, yes, Alphas are generally aggressive, overbearing arseholes but they generally have some sort redeeming qualities to them and I could find nothing in all of this. Or maybe just not enough. And Axel again so much WTF, is he bad? Will he actually turn around and be good? No freaking idea where Seifiek and Axel sit on the good/bad guy fence and this bugs me.
Sadly Gina is not really like what I remembered from Elemental or Midnight Fae Academy and I am disappointed. I get it that she is an Omega and that they aren't supposed to be dominate people but I found her lacking something in this story that I can't quite put my finger on.
It physically pains me to write this review because I never want to shit all over something that a person has put their heart and soul into but I also want to always be honest in my reviews.
I received an ARC and because I am a terrible person I have left an honest review.
I love dark twisted stories but I ultimately like consent from people that are going to be in a mate circle and there is none. It’s all forced. Pretty much for the whole book she is just running I can’t possibly see how they can all gel after what has happened and there is no real plot so far just hints of it.
I’m so disappointed. I’ve read the elemental and midnight fae books by this author set in this world and really liked them. And I usually like dark omegaverse books. But the world building in this was confusing, with all the web stuff and astral bodies. And I didn’t really like Gina, and two of the betas were weak just ended up being empty shells. But the the two alphas were even worse. They were truly awful. Like, cruel, unredeemable rapist awful. Usually, even with a morally gray character, there is something you can find to like. They are intriguing, and in some way attractive even when you don’t like them. But not these guys. I actually spent the entire book hoping she would escape and they would die. And that never got better. There was never a single time in this book that I thought I might actually even tolerate Axel and Seif. That is...not what I generally look for in a romance novel, even a darker one. Will not be reading the next one.
There's a thin line between possessive and abusive. Just as between dub-con and rape. All the problems in this book could have been solved if just the characters had sat down and discussed the different necessities. Axel had the most interesting chapters. What is said in the blurb is not what happens in the book and the Academy mentioned in the title appears in the last few chapters and just for a lesson. I don't think I'll read the sequel or anything else from the author.
ONE ACTION PACKED BLOCK BUSTER!!! Haggling harpies! Thorn has this baby banging like a cheap screen door with this beautifully composed work of art, riding one thrilling storyline and gripping plot, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Shattering boundaries and dispensing limits, displaying the strengths and weaknesses being weighed and balanced, propelling this jewel on-ward without a hitch, slamming it into overdrive, launching it into a tailspin with a eye-opening realization. Surprising happenstance and unsettling mishaps, swirl with the formidable trials and challenging tribulations, spinning alongside the deadly twists and wicked turns, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never imagined. Dynamics and countenance in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. Anarchy, escapades and mayhem rule the roost displaying the drama, turmoil, intrigue, secrets, soaring suspense and intense situations, along with a boatload of trouble, you have one intoxicating experience. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, transforming into genuinely charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Amazing job Thorn, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
I listened to this book on audible, not physically read it Very much enjoyed the book. Looking forward to starting number two. My thing is the female narrator didn’t differentiate enough for me, to the point of almost monotone. Love the strength though of the FMC, and her abilities.
So Gina, the fmc, is running bc she foresaw her future being terrible if she hooks up w the alpha chasing her. And she runs a lot in this book.
At some point in my reading, I sort of gave up caring for her. 🤷🏻♀️I feel a bit bad but it just got dragged on and on. Until it didn’t. ☹️
Seif is the son of Arnica or something. She owns a restaurant in the Midnight Fae realm. She is beloved by many in that book series. Apparently in the timeline of this series, it is going on at the same time book one of Midnight Fae is. He has been told about a future that is he trying desperately to stop. But why? Why should the reader care? We don’t. We really don’t. Because he behaves like a dickweed the entire book.
Once he finds his “omega” he is like a bull in heat. Same with his first beta. Just all baser instincts and zero care for the person. The alphas are written in this story to basically behave like animals. No conscience. He is truly self centered and self driven. And again, beyond his own wants, the reader gets nothing to enlighten us.
His first beta Axel, wants to be an alpha. And thruout the story becomes closer to being an alpha. But is he still a beta? Or is he a baby alpha? Half alpha? Does anyone even care? So there’s that whole almost unnecessary storyline. Oh. And. He is a sadistic jerk. Who’s job was to break in the two adorable betas Gina loved. Well done author. Tacky. Gross. Yeah. Well done. 🤮
The two betas Rowan and other guy, are super cute. And obviously on the run from getting sucked into the toxicity that is the Fortune Fae world. Then one of them meets Gina and she sucks them into her drama. Lucky guys. Because they have a horrible abusive future ahead as a part of this mate circle. 😩 Again. Why? Why just write abuse and r@pe into your books for no reason at all?? What is the point? For darkness value? It certainly was disgusting to read. Look. I have read plenty of dark romance books that have a bully element or even darker elements than we read about here but not like this. This is trash. And makes me mad.
Omegaverse can be notoriously dub con. But this book is straight up r@pe. When you have a character DRUG a person then force themselves onto her. That is r@pe. Not dub con. Even if she “liked it” at some point🙄🙄🙄🤬
It has been scientifically proven that people in those situations can have sexual responses and be in pain and not want it at all. Bc our responses are not just in our brain. Much like a man can get hard over a woman or man he hated.
So. I am disappointed with how the series is looking to play out. I read all the other books in this world. Elemental Fae Academy. Midnight Fae. The Winter Fae Queen. Even Candela.
This book is not vibing with any of those books, worlds or stories. It is. Confusing. Too many elements roaming together. Too many weird world building details that I still have no idea wtf she is writing about. And then the r@pe. 🤬🤬
Someone also please tell me wth DUST is. ☹️🤷🏻♀️ I may skip book 2. With the level of abuse on those cutie pie betas I nearly stopped right then. And while I want to see how this universe unfolds, I can do without the bullshit. So I won’t pick this back up until it’s over.

Let me start by saying, I will be reading book 2 if not for pure curiosity.
I guess I don't understand? I'm all for Dominance but seif just has all agression and abuse. And once books mention real canine parts (knotting, pink tips, etc) it borders beastiality in my opinion which, as much as I love the other parts of canine books, I don't like that. I wanted to like this books, it checks off alot of my fantasy book checklist. -RH -Werewolves (at least that's what it sounds like they are? Or dust vampires? Idk) -Fae -M/M
But I'm just so confused. Personally I feel like the whole book was just fluff. She's running, but why? To me it seemed that seif had (somewhat) good reasons to want her, if not slightly self serving, but we have no idea why gina is running aside from the mysterious "future" that we know nothing about.
Seif and Axels Axels dynamic confused the crap out if me? Pretty sure Axel will break Seifs hold and either become his own alpha, seif will overpower him again or Axel will just choose to stick around because plot twist, right?
I don't know. Hopefully the second book will answer my questions.

Fortune Fae Academy’s first book is here😁 The concepts in this story with regards the Fortune Fae was certainly unique and had me intrigued with all its intricacies❣️Be aware that it does leave you on a cliffhanger but only because there will be more.
Gina and Axel are reluctant to join Seif in his mate-circle, even though they both call to him. Gina has other ideas and calls to Rowan and Zeke and even a Paradox Fae to help her escape the Alpha call😱 I won’t tell you more as you really have to read it for yourself😜
I received an advanced copy and I willingly leave my honest review😍
The cover is really pretty and the writing is pretty good BUT I just don’t understand what’s all the running about Gina????? Like, I understand you don’t want to be Seif’s Omega of whatever and don’t want to hurt the others because of you but you are contradicting yourself you know?
Like, what’s the vision THE REAL, DETAILED vision that you are so afraid of like the blitz are here and there but more details you know? to make us understand what exactly is your fear because clearly what you fear is not being Seif’s Omega or being an Omega.
Like, ever heard of TALKING? COMMUNICATING??
I don’t know, the cover’s really pretty so 3 ⭐️, 2 ⭐️overall novel and 1⭐️ for the cover.
Rating 3.5 stars I love pnr, magic and the darker side of romance, so was looking forward to diving in to this new to me fae world. I have to admit, the beginning few chapters were a bit confusing. There was a lot to take in and lots of information to absorb, especially with quite a few different POVs. However, it started to make sense the deeper into the story I got. It was action packed, heated and fast paced as the hunt for the newly awakened omega Gina evolved.
Seifiek is a powerful alpha on a mission to change the future he saw in a vision. He's focused, driven, determined, fierce and manipulative, but unfortunately for me, so far he seems to have no compassion or empathy in his quest to get what he wants. He's pure alpha a-hole and to be honest I didn’t really care for him at all.
When Seif called her to him, he awakened Gina's Omega side. She's a powerful, feisty, intriguing Fortune Fae and I really liked her and her independent fighting spirit. She is an unwilling mate and desperate to avoid the dark future she's seen if they do, so she runs from Seif and to be honest I couldn't fault her decision. I'm afraid for her!
There was a small hint of an unknown outside enemy force, but this book was all about the chase. So far I just don't know what to make of Seif and his intentions. I totally get his need to dominate, but as a reader I needed some hope that he cares or has redeeming qualities, even if he hasn't presented them yet. Is he good or is he bad? I just don’t know yet. I do know he made me mad, but perhaps that is the point! Time will tell.... The same for Axel his first beta who dreams of being an alpha. He had a plan and was ruthless and determined but also resisted Seif's call, so I'm looking forward to finding out where his character goes. I did love the adorable Rowan and Zeke, I could feel the loyalty, adoration and love they feel for Gina and vice versa. They warmed my heart.
This is the start of a new trilogy, so there are understandably a few things unanswered and unexplained and it does end on a big cliff-hanger. It is Reverse Harem, but there wasn't really any of that in this book, but there is plenty of MF, MM and MFM, most of which is Omegaverse style dub-con (apart from a very steamy, hot mfm scene in the web) so fair warning.
This is the first book I've read by the author and I really liked the premise of this Fae world. I am genuinely intrigued as to where the story is headed with the different visions both Seif and Gina have had of the future and look forward to book two. I'm hoping to feel some love though in it, not just the forced submission Omegas and betas physically can't help giving, because I personally need that light in the darkness.
Um. I feel really bad because I have liked this author but… gosh this was not good.
To be fair, I think you’re meant to have read other series before this one to understand the lore (wtf is the web? Time and space? Actually some more information about what the fortune fae even are would also be good) and i assume you are meant to know who all these characters are but I have not read them all and I only recognised one cameo… but even with that, it’s written all disjointed and choppy, like she’s here and now she’s there and already has a job and she meets someone twice but now they’re in love and I’m so confused about how she actually feels about the alpha (who is gross btw) like she’s running from him the whole time and is like ready to literally die instead of getting the knot she needs ( the whole thing not explained very well) but there’s also times where she is a contradictory like girl what are we even doing. And I mean…. it’s actually pretty rape-y like TW for non-consent, drugging, forced heat and violence amongst “mates” and I just wasn’t expecting that for a book about a fae academy (they’re not even at the academy until the very end btw)
Honestly i am getting more and more annoyed as i write, so I’ll leave it at that.
I have no idea how to rate this because it was truly one of the most bizarre books I have read.
I read the first elemental fae academy book but didn’t go to the second one because I thought it was too light/fluffy/predictable. I skipped to here which although it is set in the same world, is the complete other end of the spectrum. This story is dark and heady. Because I am not a hypocrite and I asked for something less predictable, I am giving this a higher rating than the other one but understand that I am still lost lol
Do not be fooled by the title — there are approximately 30 pages where they’re at an academy. I’m guessing book 2 is where the actual school life happens
A really long, unsatisfying introduction. I wanted to like this book. I enjoyed this author’s Paranormal Prison effort. However, I don’t think this book is worthy of the word and certainly the book description is terribly misleading. The entire book is the omega running away from the alpha. Literally nothing else. It’s just one frustrating, long, introduction to the freakin story. Lots of loose ends, not enough interaction to build any... story. World building is confusing and lackluster. The Alpha’s ultimate goal is always known, but there isn’t enough positive interaction with anyone to develop sympathy for the guy. It seems like he might not be worthless, but who knows. The Beta’s motivations are clear, but again, not enough story to make him anything but a manipulative a$$. The omega claims betas that are weak pansies, I guess? The Omega is running and I have sympathy for her (because the Alpha seems like a right git), but the run is so one note, much like this review, that I just wanted it to end. Nail in the coffin, ends in a cliffhanger and the next book is scheduled for a YEAR from now. I call BS, respect the reader enough to make a better effort. By the time the next book is out I’ll have moved on enough to not care.
Gina has an alpha out to claim her so she runs. Seif has recently transformed into an alpha and he is dead set and finding his mate circle and rewriting the web and changed futures to his will. Axel is determined to become an alpha even though he was born as a beta. Rowan and Zeke are determined to protect their omega, Gina.
I didn’t like this book. I really thought I would because I usually love omega verse books and dark romance and everything like that but this was not it for me. I felt like Seif was demanding a lot. Like I understand he has plans but he completely overlooked everyone else feelings to further his plans as if it were his right as an alpha. Also like respect or in this case obedience is earned and Seif didn’t earn shit. I get why Gina ran. Axel is icky. Seif is icky. Zeke is a sweetheart and Rowan is doing his best 😕 Also Axel’s treatment in ‘breaking’ Rowan and Zeke was really disturbing to me. I feel like if there was more romance and respect I would’ve actually liked this book because the fantasy themes were actually really interesting. Everything rn is just like I don’t want to continue reading the series but I really enjoyed the other series connected to this one and like maybe it will get better (?)

J.R. Thorn is just not a good writer. Here we have an awesome premise, but the execution just plain sucks. I am not familiar with the Omega verse, and I really would have appreciated a little background or some definitions along the way. This story just throws us into the middle of it without so much as an introduction to our characters... Having read another one of her series, I am confident that she will never give us any character history as she is solely focused on writing love scenes... My other pet peeve is the fact that she didn't use any synonyms, instead choosing to use the same words repeatedly. Her favorite word being, "slick," which irritated me to no end. I even called her out on her lack of synonyms on one of her social media ads, she had nothing to say except a laugh react. So, yeah. She's unimaginative and utterly rude. The only good thing I have to say about this book is that it was a quick read. As usual her plots are simple, shallow, predictable, and uncomplicated. If you want a quick read full of multiple partner love scenes, then this is the book for you. Two out of five stars to Fortune Fae Academy.
I was given an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. I really loved elemental fae academy so I expected to love this book too since it is a continuation into Gina's story. I don't really know what I expected but I am torn. The cover is gorgeous and the overall story is good. I was just expecting Gina to confront the Alpha and maybe explain why she resisted him, and instead she just kept running. I'm also not clear at this point who the real bad guy is. I wasn't a fan of the overall premise being the hierarchical society where betas and omegas become "husks" of their former selves bending to their alphas will. Parts of the story triggered some personal issues for me which may have contributed to my feelings at the end of the book. Not a big fan of M/M sex either, but thought I would still give it a try. I want to be clear that I think the book is well written and see the potential as to where the story is going could be really interesting. I just found it a bit confusing and difficult at points. L
Gina doesn’t want to be an Omega and she certainly doesn’t want to join a mate circle. When Alpha Seifiek sets his sights on her she runs through the web and the human realms.
Beta Axel is determined to become an Alpha and that power and drive is what gets the attention of Seifiek. It isn’t long before he succumbs time the stronger mans will and begins helping him tracking Gina down at great personal cost.
Zeke and Rowan and happy staying under the radar in the human realm collecting Dust to get by but when Zeke is drawn to the Fortune Fae at a strip club they end up embroiled in her desperate dash for freedom.
I wanted to like this more... I really did. But this had a lot happen and then nothing at all. Her running got old, fast. I just wanted to to get caught so something would happen with all 5 of them in the same room and when that finally does happen it’s a forced sex scene and weird brainwashing.
The cover was pretty but I think it’s time I accepted that Academy novels just aren’t for me.
What a wonderful read from J.R. Thorn! Seif doesn't want to be a Midnight Fae, he wants to be a Fortune Fae Alpha. In order to do that he needs to find his Omega and Beta to complete his mate circle. Gina doesn't want to be an Omega, fearing a vision she saw that would break her. Axel doesn't want to be a Beta, he has dreams of being an Alpha of his own, despite being born a Beta.
I will warn you this story ends on a cliffhanger and a doozy at that. I enjoyed the story, and want to see what happens with Seif, Gina, Axel, and the others. Will Gina's fiery spirit win? Will Axel achieve his dreams? Can Seif circumvent the future he is trying to rewrite?
The characters were rich and drew me in, the story kept me reading, and there were twists and turns along the way to keep me guessing as the story progressed. Now, my question is, when is book 2 out???
I was so. BORED the entire book. Not to mention I thought there would be a lot more Academy than there was, and everything just seemed very off. Then it finally got a little interesting, and the book ended. I really don’t care enough for the next one.
Let me start off by saying this series has 2 prequel series. The first being the Elemental Fae Academy Series and the Second being the Midnight Fae Academy Series. I am neck deep in Series 2 and have Series one on Standby for when I get a flippin minute. That being said while you could definitely tell that there are Series before, Series 2 isn't even done yet and they all seem to be happening simultaneously, well at least series 2 and 3 are. I started this one because.. look at the cover.. its just asking for it. I should have waited. The magical concepts in Series 3 here dealing with the Fortune Fae are.. just way over my head. Not only that, but this series is way more smut centralized so I'm thrown here since Series 2 isn't like that. I just don't quite understand how this Alpha/Omega/Beta relationship is supposed to work and, though I've been known to enjoy some bully romances in my day, I can't quite get past the fact that none of these Beta's nor our FMC the Omega want anything to do with this Alpha. Its actually making me a tad uncomfortable the way their "will" is removed from the equation so to speak. I also can't seem to wrap my head around the magical world build... even having the experience with Paradox and Fortune Fae from series 2 to smooth my entrance I'm just kind of lost here.
That all being said, I'm definitely not put off of this author.. I'm just going to go back and read the 1st series and see if I can better grasp the theory (?) behind the magic here as well as the relationships in the hopes that once book 2 comes out in this series I can know what the heck is going on. This book definitely gives the "domineering" Alpha trope a whole new level here. Not sure its my thing yet but I'm down for more exploration.
Omg that was so good!!! So spicy!!! So entertaining that I’m jumping straight into book now
Tropes: fortune telling, fae, elements, omegaverse, dark romance
Gina is so freaking stubborn, seriously, I don’t get why the whole time she was afraid of this vision. For real girl…
Gins is on the run (for the whole book) of her destined mates- Alpha Sief, 2 Betas and another Betaalphish guy😅😅😅
Through the whole book we get no reasoning why she is running away from them and Alpha especially but she does. As she is fortune fae, she is predicting much of what’s going on but every change of events brings mystery with it.
We meet several characters from other academy series from this world, ifknyk, and apparently some new line of some X earth girl and I’m seriously interested if she will get her own series as it sounded just ✨✨✨
I have read the initial series all in row so long ago, that I’m gladly returning back to this world and its unique magic. Love it and can’t wait to read this whole series ✨✨✨
I never asked to be an Omega. I’m a Fortune Fae—I see the future. But I didn’t see this coming. My Alpha will stop at nothing to possess me until he drags me all the way to Fortune Fae Academy to join the other wide-eyed Omegas-in-training. He believes I’m strong enough to survive—and I hope he’s right. He also believes I’ll kneel at his feet. He couldn’t be more wrong about that. I don’t need three broody Betas and an asshat Alpha telling me what to do. I’m going to keep running until he realizes he’s chasing the wrong girl. Except there’s one slight problem. My Alpha has seen the future too… and he knows something I don’t. Whatever he thinks is going to happen, his cruel smirk says I’m not going anywhere.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
