Fascinating and frightening

As a one time psych professional myself during the early 70's, this brought back memories of my experiences working with schizophrenics. Well documented, this book goes from fascinating in seeing how the illness develops and manifests itself to frightening when you realize what life was like for this family.

This summary is clear and gives a good feel for the story of the Galvins and the early work in trying to understand and treat this illness, although it would benefit from a little more careful editing in places.

I would recommend this with the caveat that anid the attempt to be a detached study of a family plagued by mental illness, it can also be a bit disturbing.
