Only one woman can save all of time and space. When CaptainCaldwell was taken away from #Frankie, she took it upon herself to leas the LSS Slicer.
She decided to bring war to the Abacination prison camp for All and innocents. Frankie would stop at nothing to save Captain Caldwell. no space is vast enough and no torture hellish enough.
Her mission: save Caldwell and bring nightmares upon the Abacination.
Lexie Wayne grew up in the publishing world and went to acting/art school. She grew up in a small French town in Québec, Canada. Determined to make it into the big leagues, she learned English independently and had R.L. Stine and Stephen King as her literary teachers in the art of writing.
Odd to most people, her whole life, Lexie became a bookworm and developed an antisocial anxiety disorder. She fought many stereotypes and misconceptions from the outside world her entire life. Lexie preferred daydreaming to any other activity. At a young age, Lexie proved to be ahead of other classmates and was even tested for her IQ allowing her to pursue her studies in a special school. However, avoiding other people was still what Lexie did the most.
Years later, despite Lexie’s clinical introverted personality, she decided to make one of her dreams come true. She built a gothic magazine that would become a platform for the indie community. She named it, Gothic Bite Magazine.
Following the launch of her webzine, Lexie published her very first novel, Mrs. Blackwood. It proved to Lexie that it was possible to make more than one dream come true. Her passion for either what lurks in the dark or the vastness of space was no obstacle for Lexie, who wrote, Vacuum Of Space. Her studies also came in handy for her more logical approach when it comes to either subject.
What had Lexie gotten through social events she despised as a misanthrope and socially awkward personality was drawing. At a young age, Lexie became a great fan of DC Comics’ Batman and Flash. She even pursued some of her studies in art from an online school and was even in fourth place for DC Comics’ Art Workshop in 2017.
But Lexie will never forget who gave her the first shot at writing professionally, the CEO and her first Editor, Tara M. Clapper of The Geek Initiative.
Sometimes it’s not a hero the universe needs, but a monster to remind people of what they create. Darkness is good as long as you’re the one controlling the switch.”
In Lexie Alexa Wayne's new book from her Frankenstein series Under Animus were once again with Frankie and the crew of the LSS Slicer with Frankie a human woman who is a ufologist and who suffers with bad aniexy, debilitating ocd and other health issues but in spite of these conditions is a true warrior queen and when the love of her life is taken after defeating the rakes Scorpius outpost their will be hell to pay!!! Frankie will stop at nothing to save and bring home captain Jason Caldwell and if that means dealing with the deadly rakes or the dome or whoever the hell else that gets in her way they better be prepared for a different frankie!!! I love frankie!! She is one hell of women who fights not only for those she loves and those under her command, but who fights her inner demons and comes out on top!! Anyone who has or knows someone with ocd, depression, anxiety or any other of the mental conditions knows it's all you can do just to be present!! Frankie's drive and spirit is just a reminder that flaws don't define you,you define you!!! I don't read A lot of sci-fi books, but alexa is a fabulous storyteller and her characters are so friggin interesting and layered like one of my faves Madsen I love their close relationship and their I have your back at all times vibe! All the characters are different and unique and even the bad guys like king, who is dispicable and so fucking creepy is a watch and see what he does next character. Their are some questions answered about the mysterious captain caldwell, but with some answers come new questions and Frankie has just only scratched the surface . What and who Captain Jason Caldwell is goes beyond what frankie and the crew think they know about him and the time for the reveal is closer them they think!!! Alexa Wayne is the new voice in scfi and with the second book in her Frankenstein series she proves once again what a fabulous writer she is!!! Buckle up and prepare for warp speed adventure! Until next time luv's💕💋
I read UNDER ANIMUS directly after FRANKENSTEIN, the first book in this series, which is a good thing because the storyline picks up right where it ended in the cliffhanger of book one.
What a beginning. The first chaper had me gasp in shock. Now she has snapped! She, that's Frankie, or Frank N. Stein, newly minted Captain of the Temporal BattleShip LSS Slicer - RA 1332 A. I won't spoil what she did, only that you won't get a breather after this first, intense scene.
Staying true to book one, the storyline continues by having the reader question everything that happens. Is it real, or just another deception? Don't ever take anything for granted, neither friends, nor foes, nor identities. You learn a lot more about Frankie's history, growing up on 21st century earth. Also about the people who forged her into what she is now - a broken and battered, yet calculating killing machine who won't stop at anything to protect those she loves, even if her heart gets ripped apart more than once in the process.
Her ultimate mission: rescue her beloved Captain Caldwell from the Abacination, a gigantic Space Prison Camp in the Hellion Sector. You might think, the name alone tells it all. Wrong, it gets a lot worse than hell, so, don't read if you have a weak stomach. The Rake, a zombie-like species, never show mercy, and neither does Frankie, trying to find and rescue her one, true love.
--> But, is Caldwell really who she thinks he is? --> Are members of her trusted crew what they appear to be?
I asked those questions in the review to book one already. in UNDER ANIMUS you get some answers, but even more questions and a huge surprise in the end.
UNDER ANIMUS is an extremely intense read, nothing you can just fly over while getting distracted. Alexa Wayne has written a story that taxes your mind and imagination on different levels, and I savored every single minute of it. A five-Star menu for the mind!
It's good to know that book three is already in the making, because one thing is for sure. I'll buy it as soon as it's available!
Under Animus picks up right where Frankenstein leaves you. You missed nothing. Frankie is going through a rollercoaster of emotions right before the reader's eyes and must face various obstacles and jumping through some fire hoops to get information on how to get Caldwell.
Space is a dangerous place, even more so when quadrants are divided in enemy space. Her crew must trust Frankie to lead them to victory and keep them safe. How can you do so when a ghost from your past comes back to haunt you?
Mind games, betrayal, treason, the road to hell is paved with regrets and guilt. But, Frankie is not a quitter and because she is scared does not mean she isn't strong.
Frankie, the leader of the LSS Slicer, has plenty of things that work to demine her confidence: OCD and anxiety being just two examples. When her sweetheart is taken though, none of those things matter. She will do anything and everything in her power to get him back. Anyone in her way will be destroyed.
I absolutely adore Frankie’s character. I really related to her in the first book, but this one really brought out a new side of her, and I adore that one too. She has strength. Both physical and inner. To overcome all her demons to fight for herself and those she loves isn’t an easy task. She does it though, and it’s such an admirable fight that you can’t help but root for her.
While Frankie is fighting her inner demons, there’s plenty of action and suspense as questions from the first book are answered. In this book, we really learn who these characters are and who they’re loyal to.
Like the first book in the series, it has a little of everything: adventure, romance, battles, hurt/comfort, friendship, and of course, awesome sci-fi action.
A series well worth the read!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Frankenstein: Under Animus is a well-written sci-fi adventure that continues from book one. I was lucky enough to be given an ARC copy of this wild ride, in exchange for an honest review. Alexa Wayne did a marvellous job at holding my attention as Frankie and her partners discover the truth about who is who, and who wants what; while they battle characters that want to harm or capture her for their own benefit. This book held my attention just as well, if not better, than the first book in this series. If you love sci-fi and suspense, you’ll love this book.
I just finished and want more! Wayne has created an amazing universe with characters I have fallen in love with, (my favorite is still, Alaska). I highly recommend this series, Wayne keeps getting better and better!
