Followers of Jesus must understand what it means to be faithful in prayer. Being faithful in prayer is much more than simply saying the right words, at the right times, in the right postures. Faithful prayer is not mechanical. It does not require special equipment or fancy vocabulary. Faithfulness in prayer does require being in right relationship with God and understanding God's priorities. Thankfully, we do not have to guess what these priorities are or figure them out on our own. Jesus taught us how to pray. Will we take the time to understand these priorities and make them our own? This book includes two Part 1 lays out seven priorities taught by Christ. All of these principles are found in one of the most famous prayers in Scripture. Although the words of this prayer are well-known, the priorities themselves are often neglected. It is common to find this prayer practiced in direct violation of the instructions of Christ immediately prior to teaching His followers how to pray. We do not want to simply repeat the words in an unfaithful way. Instead, we want to understand the priorities so we can be faithful in prayer. Part 2 traces these themes throughout both the Old and New Testaments in the prayers of faithful saints who walked with God. This brief study of seven Old Testament and seven New Testament figures will demonstrate the priorities have been understood and practiced by faithful saints from beginning to end. Learning to be faithful in prayer is important for everyone who desires to truly know God and to glorify Him in the world with every word, thought, and deed. By studying the priorities and then seeing them in action, we can grow in the grace and knowledge of God as we, too, pray more and more according to God's priorities. Consider studying these priorities and principles together with others in the body of Christ so that you can grow individually and collectively in your faithfulness in prayer. Keep in mind, these priorities are not simply meant to be studied, memorized, and understood. They are intended to be implemented and practiced by all followers of Christ.
