I'm not giving any spoilers... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PEOPLE TO READ THESE FOR THEMSELVES... Start at the beginning because you will be lost otherwise. I am very much a fan of long stories, getting to know each character, land, creatures. I do believe that Christopher Patterson has the talent to become on par with Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, Robin Hobbs, Barb and JC Hendee, Tracey Hickman and Margaret Weiss, Orlando Sanchez, Shayne Silvers etc... No I don't get anything for "plugging" them ... Christopher IS THAT GOOD. I eagerly await his next book!
This new series is great! The storyline is well done and action packed. Being the 4th book and the 1st of this series, the characters have really grown on me. I always liked Turk from the beginning but he just keeps on getting better. Even characters that started out as characters that were less desirable have grown and matured. I just love how this story continues to build. I am looking forward to the next two books! It would make a great movie or tv series. Definitely recommended!

I am hooked on the characters in Christopher Patterson’s books. Iam really looking forward to the next one in the saga. The author has a real gift to lead the adventure into totally unexpected directions that immediately feel natural in a few lines. I have been reading sci-fi and fantasy adventure for over 50years and Patterson’s works are right at the top with best accomplished authors.
This wants to be an epic all encompassing book with grand world building. It fails. It spends time on the wrong details, puts a plethora of information out in an unhelpful fashion and the writing is complex without actually getting any information across.
