Decades later, they’re not who they once were, nor are they who they should have been. But there’s still time. One last chance for forgiveness. One last chance for family.

A Caribbean transplant, Avril now lives in Stone Mountain, GA., with a tolerant Spousal Equivalent. Together they raise an eccentric daughter who loves reading and school (not so much school anymore). Avril’s earliest memories of reading revolve around discussing plot points of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys with an equally book-minded mother

Always in love with the written word, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Av remains a believer of love in all its forms.

Once again Avril Ashton gives us with a beautiful story about love and forgiveness.

Perfect conclusion for those who like Syren or Renzo!

I think it can be read as a standalone as there's enough background and information to comprehend everything but it's definitely best read after Renzo's story in Kiss Your Scars (Loose Ends #3).

Syren and Renzo were kidnapped when they were children. They were held together, naked, cold, hungry and abused by a monster...
They had nothing except each other and their dreams where they could imagine themselves living happily together...
Their love was like a light in the darkness. Together, they had hope.

Until one day when Monster asked Syren to kill Renzo in exchange for his liberty.
Nothing happened as planned. Renzo, betrayed, is left for dead and Syren still captive, is sold to someone else...

Years later, both of them are free from Monster but not from their tragic past.
It's time to finally heal, together, surrounded by love.

This story takes place after KISS YOUR SCARS and explores how Renzo and Syren reconnect as friends. It didn't hold my attention and I skimmed the 2nd half. I wouldn't count this as required reading if you're making your way through Avril Ashton's backlist. Unless you're keen on seeing Syren and Renzo rekindle their friendship, this can safely be skipped.

Sweet and emotional 😭 Got me crying to whole time. I'm happy for Renzo and Syren. They deserve everything.

I loved this series. I wasn't expecting something like this. I'm obsessed with these characters!!!

I highly suggest reading 'Kiss Your Scars' before venturing into the Syren & Renzo novella. I also even suggest reading Dirty Desire before this as well. I feel like it flows much better.
Syren & Renzo went through something traumatic as children. Syren betrayed Renzo at the end of it, even after Renzo sacrificed a lot for Syren. Now, all of these years later Renzo is still harboring anger and hurt about what he went through and the choices Syren made. Meanwhile Syren has made a life for himself that allows him to put the past behind him. The only thing missing in his life to make his happiness complete? Renzo.
This novella is a story of two men learning to let go of the things that haunt them, to learn forgiveness, and to build a new life for themselves while remaining the family they swore they would always be.
Just like any of Avril Ashton's books - this was a great read. Her characters are something else.

Surprised

I've finished reading a lot of your books, back to back, the only way I like reading series. I'm not a patient person. To be totally honest here, these deep, dark stories are not my cup of tea. Too much pain for my old heart. That being said, I couldn't put them down. I was hooked!!!!! Really hard story lines, very well written. Awesome characters, twists I did not see coming, and every emotion known to man beautifully covered. There is one book I'd like to read, but Amazon doesn't have it, probably because of its content. You opened my eyes to the possibility I might be able to read heavy stuff once in a while.

(4.5 / 5)

While this is my first encounter with the characters of Syren Rua and Renzo Vega, I think it is a good introduction if a reader doesn't mind jumping in prior to reading their stories. There are enough - at least ofr this reader - hints sprinkled throughout to flesh out their story.

An invitation to a party offers the chance to be with the person that was a first love for each - though neither is who they were back then.

Each is different now, with each of them having found either a family or the beginnings of one, the question remains whether the invitation (both literally and metaphorically) will be accepted.

Syren and are so are brothers formed out of need not blood. This is the like 20th book in a series and I’m either being exaggeratory or not enough by describing it as such. Essentially, google: Avril Ashton books reading order” there are two websites it will take you to, go to hers. Read her books in order as it’s indented to draw an entire story line.

Never to Late

Family is not only blood but who you give that title too. Cause at the end family is all we have at the end of the day.

Ok, this little novella tied everything nicely.
Sure, their lives will always be plagued by Monster's actions, but they've found peace and each other again.
Loved it.

This second chance story is not like others. It's about Syren & Renzo letting each other in, sharing their lives, and getting past what they went through together. They each have a family now but one thing is still missing.

I loved that we saw that Renzo & Low are going to therapy and their problems didn't magically disappear like in other books I've read. Arvil takes us on this journey of forgiveness and triumph.

While we get some glimpses of what the monster did, I'm glad that we didn't get the full story like I thought we were going to. I don't know if I could have taken it. But with Avril Ashton's writing, you still felt the despair and pain that Syren & Renzo experienced from their past.

This is a heart wrenching story of two boys who are now men but are still haunted by a shared past.
A story that will stay with you long after you have finished it and shed a few tears as you read it as the emotions in this book are just so powerful.
Syren is in a good place in his life, but there is one thing he still needs to make amends for.
Renzo is slowly moving forward in his life and together with the love of his life he is finally finding some light in his darkness.
Can these two men form a familia and see if their whispered dreams are able to come true.
A must read for those who are captivated with this series.

This was one hell of a fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, powerful, incredible, bittersweet, amazing, emotionally charged, raw, gritty, intense, made-me-shed-tears-of-both-sadness-and-joy, and totally awesome story. It pulled me in, grabbed me by the heart, shredded it into a million pieces, ran it through a grinder, spit it out the other side, then put it back together in a entirely different way. Please read the trigger warnings, and I would recommend getting this marvelous book immediately. Hang on....it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

Syren & Renzo book is about forgiveness, family, and love. Renzo can't be around Syren because he reminds him of their past even though Syren wants him in his life. The book is very emotional and gives you an in-depth view of what happens to them when they were younger. Kane and Low are the greatest when it comes to letting these two handle their demons. The book is short, sweet, romantic, and Avril Ashton did a great job with this one.

Syren Rua and Renzo Vega two men we meet in her previous books series Loose Ends. This book tugged at my heart. I felt so deeply for what syren and renzo endured and how they both have families of there own know a second chance. This book was amazing written and I couldn't put the story down. No spoilers here I definitely recommend that you start at the beginning of her Loose Ends series first before reading this book.

Heartbreaking and Heartwarming

This book walk the line between heartbreaking and heartwarming, the pain that these men have experience is evident and the lengths they go to reconcile who they are now as individuals and to each with with who they were done was handled delicately and lovingly. The book was a beautiful journey to embark on with ups and downs, tears and joy and ultimately forgiveness , hope and triumph.

It's a beautiful story, I'm so glad Avril make this for us and for Renzo and Syren. Both deserve so much happiness, and they life isn't complete without each other.

It's about family and forgiveness, and traumas we do not forget but we do our best to live peacefully.

Mending together rather than being broken apart.
Syren and Renzo's story was heartbreaking, two boys brought together in a horrid situation and still struggling as adults.
This book is their own redemption, finding their way back to each other as family, as brothers, and it's everything I could have hoped for Syren. Even with his family he was still missing pieces of himself.
Renzo have barely been holding on, even with Low keeping his head above water. In this book he finds what he was missing. Forgiveness and the family he had always wanted.

Escape the shadows

I am so thankful and happy that Avril Ashton wrote this story. It was beautiful, emotional and cathartic. “We have lost much over the years... But we have us. We have us.” Syren and Renzo are kindred spirits connected by a past that formed an indestructible bond. Their pain hurt me but their love healed me. An incredible and powerful story of hope, family and absolution.

While this isn’t your usual second chance love story, it is amazing! Renzo and Low are one of my favorite couples Avril has created so when I saw she was writing Renzo and Syren’s story, I got so excited. I was bit disappointed in the least! In fact, I loved it. Just make sure you have some Kleenex
