Warning: If you are looking for a sweet, sensitive book with a happily ever after, 'THE DAVENPORTS' isn’t it. It is a totally inappropriate book about a completely dysfunctional family. The F word flies free along with many other curse words. Feel free to get drunk (because the Davenports sure are!) while you’re reading it, and prepare to wet yourself laughing. If sex scenes are not your thing, this book might not be your thing. But, if you have a crazy sense of humor and like raunchy comedies - you’re in the right place. Join in on the craziness of The Crazy Rich Davenport Family.
Lucy’s husband Mark, died a year ago. Her life and her families has been steadily going downhill and things have gotten a little out of control, to say the least. When her daughter plans a birthday party for her half-sister. Lucy decides it’s time they all get their act together, but not everyone is on the same page.
There will be dildos and strawberries flying in the air, along with firecrackers, curse words, and little blue pills being slipped into drinks - hard-ons for everyone! Lucy’s hope for normal in her dysfunctional family will never happen and things only get worse when Mark’s snooty parents drop a bombshell that will only spark more insanity from The Crazy Rich Davenport family.

The warning was right! The Davenports ARE a completely dysfunctional, irreverent family where limits and boundaries are non-existent, unless you mess with one of theirs.
THE CRAZY RICH DAVENPORTS, an insane off-color comedy from the zany sides of authors Shannyn Leah and Kelly Moore. I’m pretty sure these two talented authors dared each other to race on the wild side!
Multiple personalities, over-active libidos, and grandparents that defy any preconceived notions of elderly couples in rocking chairs. Most definitely NOT for those who blush easily, or are sensitive to raunchy humor, because there is something for everyone to feel a little uncomfortable with.
Open the book, open your mind and expect the unexpected in an over-the-top, completely whacked out comedy that proves money does NOT buy happiness, nor is it the root of all evil…and be glad the Davenports are not your neighbors. A small dose of this family is more than enough to last quite a while!

Dare to Enter was the first book in the Crazy Rich Davenport series by Shannyn Leah and Kelly Moore. I was provided an ARC for an honest review.
Dare to Enter was the beginning of a series that won’t end with each book, but continues like a TV show. To set the stage for the series, Leigh and Moore painted the colorful picture of the entire hilarious and quirky crew in the first few chapters. We continued to receive the POV from each character as the story unfolded.
Crazy doesn’t even define it. It’s a home of a widow, six children of various ages, grandparents, rental residents and a nanny. And amongst them are sex addicts, imaginary friends, a schizophrenia, a virgin, pornographic producers and several gardeners.
It was well written, hilarious and entertaining. It wasn’t a romance but there was tons of talk of love and sex, not descriptive sex, just tons of talk about it. There was an underlying story that was unfolding and much like a tv show will build until they choose to reveal the truth, much further into the series. As crazy as it was, I’ll have to keep reading to find out who ultimately wins. Hot Mess is up next.
If you are familiar with Shannyn and Kelly’s previous books, I will start by saying that this is nothing like what they’ve written before. This is the story of the Davenports, which as the title suggests, is a rich and crazy family! Their household consists of the mom, Lucy, six children (ranging from young to college-aged), the nanny, Daisy, and the grandparents, Yaya and Pops.
I honestly don’t know how to explain how hilarious this story is without giving away spoilers! However, I will say that this is the first installment and it takes place over a two-day time period while they are planning a party for one of the children from Lucy’s husband’s first marriage, and the two families don’t exactly get along. During the party planning and the party itself, we get to see all of the crazy goodness which is Yaya (grandma). She is probably one of the funniest characters I have ever read and frighteningly enough, I can totally imagine myself behaving like her at when I am that age! Gemma is trying to bring all of the family together, Lucy decides that maybe she should stop drinking and take better care of her family, Ford is trying to survive the many sides of Daisy – and it is all chaos.
Prior to reading The Crazy Rich Davenports, I already knew what talented authors Shannyn and Kelly are, but this joint creation is absolutely wonderful. They have both stepped out of their comfort zones and their “normal” genre, amazing me with their creativity, fast-paced action, and amazing characterization. This is a novel that feels like you’re watching a t.v. show or movie. You are right there in the action, rather than sitting back slowly allowing the author to unwrap the characters, setting, and plot.
I will say that yes, there are some comments, topics, actions, etc. that are included in this book that could possibly offend some readers. However, if you enjoy comedy and do not mind some dirty humor, then I promise that you will love this novel. The Crazy Rich Davenports is a novel that is fresh, unique, and will evoke so much laughter your abs will think you have been to the gym.
All I have to say is that this book will have you on the floor cracking up. It's about a dysfunctional family. You have a grandmother that is selling pills to pay for their education for her grandchildren. You have one of the kids that thinks they are a villain. The other is concern about there imaginary friend. One trying to through a birthday party. The mother is left a widow and is trying to stop drinking. One of the kids are dating a girl that has multiple personality. This was a great read. I loved the storyline and plot. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
These people are definitely crazy in the best possible way, I would love to be at the party to see how Tommy along with slutty pepper cause a riot along with all the crazy characters who are invited, and some who are not. It's been long time since I have read anything like this, I had forgotten the sheer pleasure of reading such a masterpiece.

This is a book about the entire Davenport family. Told in alternating perspectives by the entire family. This was a raunchy, fun read. The voices of the characters were distinct. Between the over-sexed drug dealing grandma, a multiple personality nanny, and an alcoholic mom it was a riot. Add in the remaining family members, and way too much fun ensues.
If you are looking for a sweet read this is not the book for you. The book ends a good stopping point, but with plenty of unanswered questions. Can’t wait for the next episode.
You are warned at the beginning of the book that the family is dysfunctional and they certainly are! The family is barmy but the book is a fun read. The characters are not sane at all but that is what is fun about reading it. I look forward to see how it develops in future books.
The Crazy Rich Davenports are C-R-A-Z-Y! I started to read this book before bed but I started to get confused with all the characters pov. This book should definitely be read when you are wide awake. Trust me it is worth it. Get ready to laugh your butt off and enjoy some family drama. I can't wait to see what happens next.
OMG this is just brilliant! From the start I was hooked and howling with laughter! A dysfunctional family oh yes it is and well wow just wow from a nanny with multiple personalities to grandma selling little blue pills at the old people's home this will have you in stitches!
Where do I even begin with this family?! This book is like a primetime soap opera/comedy of Mama's Family meets the Kardashians, only ultra rich. And with a few less pregnancies. So far. Lucy Davenport, her six children, and the maternal grandparents are all trying to find their new normal after patriarch Mark Davenport died. Unfortunately, normal took a ride on the train to crazy town. Maybe I should just introduce you to this cast of characters.
LUCY – the mom, who buries her grief in booze and men. YAYA – the grandmother who wears brightly colored wigs and has a side business selling contraband. Her little blue pills are extremely popular at the nursing home. POPS – the grandfather, and the only “normal" one of the bunch. FORD – the oldest child and a college student, in love with the Multiple Personalities Disorder nanny, Daisy/Smutty Pepper/Tommy. Okay, he’s only in love with Daisy, but they’re kind of a package deal. GEMMA – also a college student; sweet, untouched and innocent. ERIK – high school student who works for Yaya selling contraband; Evan's twin. EVAN – high school student who dresses like a stripper on a job interview; Erik's twin. BRYANT – elementary school age boy who thinks he's a super hero villain, costumes included, and loves to torment his little sister. BETS – the six-year-old baby of the family with an invisible friend, Frankie. She collects the money for the swear jar.
Okay, first of all, don’t judge. Once you start digging into this train wreck, you won’t be able to look away either. I may have the tiniest bit concern about the minds that conceived these wacky, outrageous characters and their antics, but that’s for another day. 😉 Although I can’t say I liked everything about these characters, they are ridiculously likeable, endlessly entertaining, and managed to somehow endear themselves to me. One thing is sure – there is never a dull moment in this book and I found myself laughing out loud through the whole thing, which I read in one sitting. The well intended but epic failure of a birthday party scene, alone, makes the book worth reading. If you read to escape everyday life for a short time, this book is the ultimate escape. And spending time with the Davenports has a way of putting real life into perspective. Like maybe that wacky aunt of mine isn’t really so bad. Hmm.
That’s the thing about this book. With all of the outlandish, zany, loony tune, ridiculous characters and crazy, hysterical situations they get themselves into, there are hidden depths to this book. Yes, it’s outrageous and hilarious, and it was only after the crazy train pulled into the station (when the book ended) that some of the surface layers peeled back and I started to see more. I began to consider underlying causes, external motivations and driving forces that put things in a different perspective and revealed hidden depths. Color me intrigued. It’s like one of those old sitcoms, where it’s all fun and games (cue canned laughter) but then there’s always an underlying message with one little object lesson or gem of wisdom that leaves you saying, “Hmmm.” So now I can’t wait to see what happens next. That’s the one drawback of having read an early copy, I’ll have to wait a little longer for the next book, but I have no doubt it will be worth it. Just as this book is certainly worth reading. It has a little bit of everything and a lot more than you might anticipate.

The Crazy Rich Davenports by Shannyn Leah You know that saying “It’s Complicated”, well that about sums up this household. The household consists of the mom, Lucy, who is widowed and left with her 6 children. The nanny, Daisy, who comes with 3 split personalities that we know of, as well as being the girlfriend of one of Lucy’s children. And then there are the crazy grandparents Yaya and Pops. We also have two gardeners to contend with, as well as a sexy cowboy and not to mention the other half of the Davenports (in-laws), who own the word snobby and pretentious. Oh and let’s not forget the new tenants that are renting the cottage. This story is so crazy and I was in fits of laughter all the way through. The story is based around Gemma, wanting to through a party to bring her whole family together. Sounds easy right? Think debatable instead. Lucy takes this as a sign to stop drinking and start acting like the Mom again. Ford is trying to survive Daisy and Slutty Pepper while trying not to be crucified by Tommy. Yaya is selling little blue pills to pay for the kid's education and forcing her husband out of his cottage, so she can rent it out to some rather strange characters. Then there are the youngest kids, one who thinks he is a villain and the other that is so concerned about her imaginary friend. Can it get any crazier? Yes, it does and you will howl with laughter. If you are looking for a story that is wild, full of fun, will have you cracking up with laughter and OMG moments, then this one is for you. The authors have whipped up a crazy creative story, full of extraordinary characters. I can so see this becoming a TV comedy in the near future. If you are looking for something out of the norm, can handle a lot of dirty humor and over the top crazy, then this one is for you. Be warned you will never look at your grandparents the same again. This family reminded me of the Beverly Hillbillies/Clampett family, crossed with Mama’s Family. The cast of zany characters is numerous and the author helpfully provided an intro to the main ones to give you a little insider info on them. If you are expecting your average dysfunctional family this is NOT IT. You’ve got your Viagra selling nympho grandmother Yaya, the alcoholic mother with two lovers Lucy. Ford the eldest male child of Lucy, his multiple personality girlfriend Daisy/Slutty Pepper/Tommy who also happens to be the nanny to his younger siblings, the teenage daughter Gemma the do-gooder of the bunch. Bets the keeper of the swear jar and her hero clad brother Bryant will keep you entertained along with other members of the family.
Now this family puts the “functional” in dysfunctional. Their main moral compass Mark died the year before and the family is still very much trying to get their bearings. There have been a lot of role reversals with Ford trying to fill his father’s shoes and Lucy in denial that Mark is gone and trying to bury herself with alcohol and sex with two different men. The kids are running wild and Yaya is trying to be helpful in her own way.
Behind all of the zany behaviors you see a family struggling to process a big part of their lives being gone. They are all finding different coping mechanisms to keep it together then you throw in their dad’s side of the family that never fully embraced them and you have a family trying to keep their house and their version of sanity intact. One major thing that was very evident despite all of the bickering and shenanigans they had each other’s back. They are all super protective of each other and will do any and everything to make sure no outsider hurts any of them.

4.5 Star review of Dare To Enter (The Crazy Rich Davenports #1) by Shannyn Leah and Kelly Moore This was a laugh out loud hilarious read that had me receiving many funny looks as I read this on the train today. It was non stop fun and all I can say is please write more stories with these amazing characters. I laughed so much that I nearly wet myself; I know too much information but honestly, it is the truth. Lucy wants to add some normalcy to her family but she has an uphill battle on her hands. Throw in her deceased husband Mark’s family and chaos reigns. The authors state that this is a story about a dysfunctional family and yet it was so much more.; it was a cracker of a story. So much drama and so many generations of family are throughout this story that at times I had no idea what was going to happen or in fact was happening since I was laughing so much.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Davenports are a crazy bunch but they are also loveable and reading Dare To Enter was like riding a roller coaster which was out of control, but in a good way.
Omfg!!! I loved this book!! It was so off the wall funny and crazy and right up my alley!!! I love the crazy blue pill selling, crazy about sex, always trying to make money grandmother also known as Yaya!! I mean love her!!! Daisy and all her characters are will have you rolling!! Ford is all hot and that’s enough for me...lol The “littles” are a riot!! Especially Bets and her Frankie!! Bryant too and his outfits!! Lord I think I might be related to this family if it wasn’t for the rich part!!! I couldn’t stop reading this book once I started it!! It was like watching a train wreck but not a bad thing!!! Like I know not everyone will love this book with the multiple pov’s and all the crazy shenanigans that happen in this book but if you love to laugh and you don’t have a stick stuck up your you know what then give this book a shot I think you will love it!!! ;) - By Tina
Welcome to the world of the Crazy Rich Davenports and as the title says it’s a CRAZY place to be. This is a book about the Davenport family it’s fun it’s hot and it covers every scenario from a multi personality nanny to a blue pill drug dealing grandma with a lot of other big personalities in between. Lucy and her six children are trying to get back to living a normal life after losing their patriarch Mark Davenport but their idea of normal is far from normality. This family get themselves into some hysterical situations and even though they come across as zany outrageous characters there are hidden depths to each of their personalities...... This book is not a sweet read but it is a great read and it leaves us with just enough unanswered questions to keep us guessing as to where these authors will take us in book 2 which I can’t wait to read.
The Crazy, Rich Davenports ( Dare to Enter:Season One Pilot) by Shannyn Leah & Kelly Moore is the hilarious tale of the crazed Davenport family. A family that is utterly..completely...and TOTALLY ....INSANE!!! Funniest book I have read ever. Never have I heard of such a nutty bunch of characters. Such an imaginative story....with much love lavished in this family’s antics...So when you settle down to read this one ...forgo the coffee & cake...omit the tea & scones...break out the harder libations & have devilment in your heart ...for this tale ...is ...one hell of a delicious ride!!! VERY MUCH ENJOYED!!! An honest ARC review.

OMG this is a crazy story!!! Shannyn and Kelly made it out as a different kind of books where you`ll follow each and every characters like a mini-series with episodes! I simply love it! The Davenports are such a crazy bunch of people, they stun you, make you laugh and re-read some sentences twice just to make sure you understand how weird they are. The cursing, the sex and some situations might not be for all readers but seriously it`s an hilarious story. I dearly recommend this as a quick easy funny read to anyone and it`s nice to read something new and entertaining. Bravo seriously to those two co-writers and I dearly hope this story will keep on going on and that we`ll get the next episodes soon enough!
This is one messed up family. The word dysfunctional is too mild for this bunch. Every family has their usual one or two "black sheep", but in this case the sane and normal members are in the minority. Three generations of crazy complement this zany and hilarious family. There is so much drama within the drama that keeping up while laughing and constantly missing my spot while reading was a first for me. I cannot wait for the next episode.
Every family has its skeletons but the Davenport family takes it to a whole new level. The dysfunctional way this family works will lighten your mood and have your stomach aching from laughter. Yaya stole my heart from the moment I met her and don't even let me get started about the nanny! I can't wait to read the next installment....
Such a great read everything the author promised and more! The Crazy Rich Davenport are just that, from the first page on the situational humor is present , the mother living in the bottle and multiple sexual partners, the Crazy multi personality nanny, the older son"Ford" dating and having sex with one of the personalities, okay well two when he can not resist "Slutty Pepper" . Then of course there is "Yaya" ; she is the 67 year old pistol of a grandmother who just adds to the craziness! Want a fun, crazy read with addictive characters? This one is for you !
OMG, where to start with this review! This story is hysterical from beginning to end, with a dysfunctional family whose drama, antics and shenanigans are eccentric and entertaining throughout. This talented duo of authors’ has done an outstanding job in penning this story, and I cannot wait to read the next books in this fantastic series. I highly recommend this novel for all comedy lovers out there!
The title fits the books.. OMG I love the Crazy Rich Davenports!! Yaya is the best she is what makes the family complete. It keeps you hanging on wondering what chaos is next to follow, I haven't figured out how Lucy can stay as sane as she does. Ford and his girl Daisy are a triangle worth watching. I can't wait to see what happens next. This family is a HOT MESS but I love them!!!
Hilarious and yet... how far from reality this is?
A highly dysfunctional family, where everyone carries their own emotional burden and have their own way of coping mechanisms. Heavy drinking, addiction to sex, multiple personalities, this isn't your everyday family. Or is it? Still, apart from the craziness and all the hilarious incidents of the family members, there's an understory, with a bit of a mystery that threatens the family. Stay tuned for the next episode of the Crazy Rich Davenports!
This was fantastic! Absolutely bonkers, but fantastic! It really is entertaining and in the life of Lucy, what could go wrong will go wrong! This is so close to what happens in some peoples lives it's insane! And it was funny because it is true! I loved it and would recommend this book!! Cannot wait to see what comes next!

I found this book hilariously bonkers. Everyone was crazy. I haven't laugh this much in a long time. Everytime I remember this book I will be laughing.
This is a fast and entertaining read. Saying that the Davenports are a dysfunctional family is putting it mildly. This family is flat out crazy, but that’s what makes this such a fun book. I can’t wait to see what the next book has for us.
