It seems that for many Christians Romans is fascinating but also ... difficult. And sometimes all that the "experts" say, as they had in commentaries and thoughts from scholars and preachers, just confuses things all the more. What if we could sit down over a good cup of coffee and just read Romans? Try to hear what Paul was saying to that original audience, the church in the first century in the capital city of the Roman Empire? That is what this book is about. It's like you're in a small group discussion in a local coffee shop, working through Romans. The author, Mark Roberts (gospel preacher for more than 30 years), will be there too - helping and pointing to what Paul wants to say and how we need to listen to that message. Doing that finds Romans not to be nearly as complicated as some make it out to be! As a bonus, along the way Mark will give some great tips on how to make and enjoy great coffee. It's the Coffee and the Bible Series, where we make every effort to see what the Bible says as we enjoy a really great cup of coffee!

Mark Roberts was born and raised in Liverpool and was educated at St. Francis Xavier's College. He was a teacher for twenty years and for the last thirteen years has worked with children with severe learning difficulties. He received a Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for best new play of the year. He is the author of What She Saw which was longlisted for a CWA Gold Dagger. Blood Mist, the first in his DCI Eve Clay series, went to number one in the Australian kindle chart.
Romans is most certainly one of those books which tends to be misunderstood, misinterpreted and misused by the religious world today. Mark Roberts did a phenomenal job of breaking down Paul's message one chapter at a time, clearly relaying the message Paul was trying to convey without getting derailed by various rabbit trails people like to chase today, and staying within the context while reminding you of Paul's overall message to the Roman church-unity! While Romans was written to the church long ago-it contains a wealth of knowledge and wisdom we would do well to apply today! I enjoyed the author's writing style and never felt overwhelmed or confused by what he was trying to convey-which let's face it...cannot be said of all authors! Get yourself a copy, sit down with a cup of coffee and give it a read! You will be better off for it!
Gives a deep dive into Romans that is easy to follow & understand. He gives the coffee he is drinking & how to make better coffee at home as he reads each chapter which is a nice touch. Highly recommend!!!
