A humorous and poignant semi autobiographical and anecdotal look at a nurse and midwife in training in Scotland in the 1970's. You will be introduced to characters who make you laugh, cry and some you will despise. The author is third eldest in a dysfunctional family of ten whose father was a complex and sometimes violent alcoholic. Go with her on a journey to meet some amazing people.
This was a very easy book to read, I recognized a lot of the characters and it was nice being reminded about some of them. I did struggle a bit with the timeline but this was mainly because I know a lot of the characters she mentions, however having said that Lorna did say that this book is about her various experiences , and not always in the order they happened. I am certainly looking forward to her next book and adventires
This book is brilliant like the way it's written no nonsense and straight forward just like the writer. I can sympathise with some of the situations Lorna has found herself in. Cant wait to read her other books well done Lorna an amazing read.
Interesting autobiographical story… I enjoyed the story of the author’s life and career in nursing. I love Scotland, so it was also appealing to read about the little towns I might visit one day.
