Haylee Gilmore always made practical decisions—except for one unforgettable night with Trevor Blake! Now she’s expecting his baby, and the corporate cowboy wants to do the right thing. But the long-distance mom-to-be refuses to marry for duty—she wants his heart. The once-burned Blake had long ago given up on love—yet the idea of fatherhood cracks his defenses. Maybe, if Trevor can let go of his past, he’ll find Haylee willing to accept his yuletide proposal after all…
From Harlequin Special Believe in love. Overcome obstacles. Find happiness.
According to her mother, she fell in love with books even before she could read and was always content when she had a book in her hands. It didn’t surprise anyone when she decided that she wanted to be a writer, but she was encouraged to pursue “a real job” first.
So she did—she became a lawyer. Two years of practicing law taught her a lot about the world—and reinforced her determination to become a writer. Because in fiction, she could promise a happy ending!
Thankfully, she had already met and married a wonderful man to inspire her fictional heroes. And when she was on maternity leave after the birth of their first son, he encouraged her to take a romance writing course at the local community college. It was while enrolled in this class that she completed her first (still unpublished) manuscript.
Three more manuscripts and another baby followed. And then, in June 2002, she finally got the call from Susan Litman—an editorial assistant and contest judge—offering to buy the manuscript she’d submitted to RWA’s Golden Heart® contest as “From This Moment.” This story was re-titled McIver’s Mission and released by Silhouette Intimate Moments in May 2003.
Review: Meet Me Under The Mistletoe By: Brenda Harlen @harlequinbooks 5/5 ⭐ • Haylee Gilmore isn't your average girl. She wears steel toe boots to work and would rather hang on the couch with her cat Simon, than go to her cousin's wedding. After much convincing from her sister, Haylee finds herself in the sexy lingerie department with pink polish on her toes! Trevor Blake is a wealthy playboy with a troubled past. He dances with Haylee at the wedding and after one unforgettable night, they find themselves preparing for a few surprises. Trevor wants to do the right thing, but Haylee won't be stuck in a loveless marriage and end up like her Mother. Come to Haven and see what happens under the mistletoe! • I connected so much with Haylee because the book brought me back to where I grew up. I'm orginally from Antioch, California. Haylee lived in Oakland, which is a neighboring town. In the beginning of the story, she takes the BART to watch the As play the Rangers. It brought back so many memories of my friends and I taking the BART to see them play. My husband is from Texas and would always root for the Rangers, so there was similarity there also. I can't give spoilers away, but at the end of the book when they stand under the Mistletoe, my husband and I were also 8 months pregnant when we decided to do the same. There were so many coincidences. It felt like the story was made for me! • This was an amazing #buddyread and I believe I can speak for us both when I say, we loved Haven and I can't wait to read more from this series!
Haylee Gilmore has always been the shy sister, the one guys invited only to be near her beautiful sister. So when this handsome man give her all his attention at a cousin's wedding, Haylee can't believe it at first. But her sister are not there this time and Tevor Blake makes it clear he only have eyes for her. But after their one-night stand, Trevor wants to see her again and even if they're not living in the same town, that's not stopping him. Their second meeting doesn't end on a good note, but when he learn they made not one but two babies, there's no way he's staying away.
I have fun reading this book. Trevor and Haylee comes from two long-time funding families but the Blake and the Gilmore are starting to mend fences with love stories😛. Trevor is a charming man and I especially like how he wear his heart on his sleeves and always open about his feelings. Haylee's inexperience with men made her more hesitating in starting a relationship and I know that some of her naive thoughts will have some people roll their eyes. A time or two their chemistry didn't felt organic to me and I was not a fan of their assumptions towards each other but it was still a fun and sweet read.
Another in the Match Made in Haven series, in which Haylee Gilmore follows her curiosity and ends up going to bed with--and losing her virginity to--Trevor Blake. Never mind that previous generations of Gilmores and Blakes have engaged in a feud that still raises its ugly head at the most inconvenient times, though not at the wedding of cousins.
But when she finds out that she's pregnant and does the honorable thing by informing him, Haylee has no intention of marrying him when he broaches the idea. After all, he's honorable, too, but she isn't about to set herself up for heartbreak, convinced he won't stick, nor does he admit he's in love with her. How could that be? He vowed years earlier he'd never love another woman again.
But she's carrying twins! Will that make a difference? Not to her, or will Trevor wear her down during the months of her pregnancy? And then she is in a car accident. What will happen now?
A classic case of lust at first sight! With book nine in her always fun Match Made in Haven series, Brenda Harlen brings a surprise pregnancy to life when a Gilmore meets a Blake and hearts collide. Their sizzle was delightful and I really enjoyed their story.
Haylee is a strong, independent soul who has never taken a chance on love and isn't so sure she really wants to.
Trevor was burned by love before and isn't receptive to ever trying again ... but he has a big heart and it doesn't take long for Haylee to hold a major part of it.
I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a small town vibe with connected families and characters mixed with your romance.
More with the Blake-Gilmore feud in Haven, Nevada. At the formal wedding her cousin Caleb Gilmore, and his wife, Brielle Blake, Haylee Gilmore meets Trevor Blake, and instant attraction is there. Then a month or so later, that attraction has resulted in a baby coming. Trevor wants to do the right thing, but Haylee is hesitant, with the feud and all, and not knowing how her dad will react to her being pregnant, or the father being a Blake. Plus, Haylee has trust issues about people staying in her life. Good story, and interesting in that Haylee is an electrician!
A cute storey where a bookish shy girl meets a handsome guy at a family wedding. He is the cousin to the bride and she is a cousin to the groom. They hook up and she ends up pregnant. He lives in Nv and she lives in Ca. When she loses her job in CA due to the company downsizing, He finds her a job in Nv and then sparks fly. I was given this book by the author for my free and own opinion, I do apologize that I am late in posting my review. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
Ok I liked this book better than the other Harlequin I just finished. I do wish there was just one line at the start of a chapter with how much time had passed or some hint in the first sentence of the chapter because I hate guessing if it is right after the last chapter or weeks later. But other than that, this book was good. I do feel like I missed out on something that happened in an earlier book but it wasn't terrible. I enjoyed Haylee and Trevor's story.
Haylee Gilmore always felt as if she was in the shadow of her sister until one night she went to her cousin's wedding and had a one night stand with Trevor Blake. The problem is that Trevor couldn't stop thinking of Haylee but he had a problem with trusting women. Haylee found herself with a little surprise, due in 9 months, from their one night stand. These two also have to deal with a family feud between the Gilmores and the Blakes that goes back many years. It's a really fun and easy read.
It was a great book and even though the ending was foreshadowed for a lot of chapters there was still a big twist. A Christmas book mixed with romance turned out to be one of my new favorites!🎄👨👩👧👦
