It was just a feeling. An itch on the back of my neck. A sense that I was being...observed. That I was being judged and found unworthy. It passed, thankfully. Things were starting to look up...

What on earth is going through the authors mind? Did you just have a really long break between books 10-11 and failed to look back at where you left things off or is this going to be the new trend, repeating old stuff while disregarding new exciting stuff? The author forgot about a key romantic moment between the protagonist Fiona and one of her love interests, Dracus. Seriously, I was excited that the closed of dragon shifter was finally confessing some of his feelings for Fiona, that they got passed the awkward after-shock of their disaster-date and that they agreed on a redo. The last book ended so that in the next book the date is supposed to be immediately because Dracus asked “Are we still on tonight?”, as in the date was supposed to be that same evening. Instead we get a first scene of Fiona’s dream and her waking up in a panic. Tut tut tut, very big mistake from the author… The second annoying bit is that the author introduces old info as if it is new and exciting. Like the possibility of a rat within The Officials as if this was completely new intel, Fiona mentioning magical artefacts to Priscilla as if they hadn’t already talked about it…

I love this series but this one I had to force my way through. It had so many inconsistencies. SO many. Seriously it hurt my head.
Last book ended with Dracus and Fiona having a make up date set for the next evening. It never takes place in this one. Theo and Fiona already had a tentative schedule for studying together. Priscilla was going to be in an academic tournament with two other schools for the dean but in this one she was writing a paper?/report? Doesn’t follow. Plus Fiona had already talked to Priscilla about the magic charms and it had gone completely different then the one in this book. Also in books previous they had already confirmed that there was a traitor in the Official and were concluding that there were spies amongst the students. This one they are going back and saying there is a rat in the Officials. There was mention of the village which she’s been to twice and was far enough away that they teleported. There were other things but these were the worst ones for me.

“I just want to know that this is for something.” Like the fog that rolls in and out, such are the dreams that Fiona is having along with feelings of anticipation that something is coming. It is like being watched where you start to get that feeling creeping up your spine and goosebumps start to form. Adding insult to injury, there is a traitor among The Officials and who knows what kind of chaos that will turn into. Once again, there are feelings of disquiet among the council boys and Enrique opens his mouth and inserts his foot. However, the biggest surprise is when someone is found dead. Will Fiona be able to deal with everything that is happening or will she succumb to her fears? Is anyone safe at the school? This is one suspenseful adventure that Fiona and her council boys are on and I cannot wait to read the next book to see where their paths lead. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
I'm starting to think that if it can happen, it will happen to or around Fiona. With each new addition to this serial, I tell myself to stop guessing and just enjoy the story, but I can't help it. I bounce back and forth about some characters almost on a page by page basis. There are also some that I remain sure of their motives, but that's iffy too - clear as mud, right? Yeah, that's where I am with these characters. They, along with their crazy, twisted storyline, drive me completely nuts, but at the same time, I'm hooked on this story and it seems like the more I want to shake the daylights out of any or all of Fiona's 'council boys' the more I want of them. This eleventh book in the serial gives us a couple of big things to think about, and the suspense has ramped up a notch or two. Of course, this is a continuing story, so none of the books end - this one just takes that up to big ol' cliffy that may have a few people grumbling about waiting for the next book, me included.
For every mystery solved at the Academy of Beasts, a new one seems to arise. We've found out the identity of Mr. X, we've learned about the traitor amongst the higher ups directing the Council Boys' activities. In this book, Fiona seems to be followed around by a dark cloud. She feels a sense of dread and sure enough, someone launches new attacks on the school.
Fiona's relationships with the Council Boys remain complicated, but they are all figuring out their new relationships with each other. While stressed about their tangled attraction to Fiona, the boys must also try to figure out the source of the new threat.
The ending to this story was quite a shock and I can't wait to read the next book in the series to learn the outcome. I would like each book to be a bit longer, however.
This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
Each of the books in this series is a quick read so you will definitely be able to consume each one in a sitting but believe me each one is packed with content and I am so amazed by the author's ability to keep the plot arc, pace and character development so consistent through each of the books.
It seems that for every danger overcome and every mystery solved poor Fiona is not destined to have a peaceful life anytime soon. She and the Council boys are still navigating a pretty complicated relationship and add to that the danger and action and intense emotion that she faces I cannot help but admire her. These characters became more than just names on a page very quickly into this series and I so love spending time with them. Cannot wait to see how things are going to pan out in the next book.
I liked it but im not as into this book as previous it was alot of reiterating stuff we already knew from previous books so kind of felt like filler just to make a book hopefully new one it's a lot better in that retrospect.
Academy Of Beasts XI is book eleven in this series by author Becca Fanning. Wow this one is intense- deaths, secrets, truths, and just a hint of spicy. Enjoy!!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A feeling turns into a real life nightmare. Fiona feels like she is losing her mind but is she really or is it just another facet of her powers. I am loving this series and cannot wait for the next installment to see what happens next. I am leaving a voluntary review for an advanced copy of the book.
Another quick read in this series that continues from the previous book. I have enjoyed each book and the storyline is interesting. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
