The story takes place after the events in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Hermione Granger is Minister for Magic and on the brink of divorce. Due to her job and personal life stress, the Wizengamot forces her to take on an Advisor who will help oversee smaller tasks. Hermione begrudgingly recognizes she needs help, but things take a more complicated turn when Draco Malfoy is nominated and accepts the position.
Draco is a widower and looking for any excuse to get away from the manor. With Astoria gone, Scorpius off at Hogwarts, and Narcissa locked away in her wing since the death of Lucius, Draco feels stifled and alone. When Blaise presents him with the opportunity to work with the Minister of Magic, Draco gladly accepts.
Ever since they (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Draco) stopped the Delphi girl from bringing Voldemort back, Draco hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Hermione. He knows he shouldn't for a lot of reasons - she's the Minister of Magic, married to Ron, and probably still hates him for bullying her at school. However, he can't help his fascination with Hermione and figure what does he have to lose by being Advisor to the Minister of Magic?

My Thoughts:
This fic was so good! If you liked Remain Nameless and/or The Right Thing To Do you MUST read Still Life!
Draco is such a softy. Even though I typically don't love fanfics where both Draco and Hermione were previously married, because it bums me out they haven't been together all this time, this one is an exception! After the war, Draco married Astoria, who helped guide him out of the darkness and showed him a life full of love and happiness. Through her positive influence, Draco became a better person with a more accepting and loving worldview. He's witty, playful, sweet, thoughtful, and kind - just an all-around good guy. And even before Hermione's divorce, Draco sees Hermione struggling and does whatever he can to lighten her mood or make her smile. But once Hermione is divorced, he really ups the charm and tries everything to get Hermione to notice him, including cutting his Lucius-looking long hair. ❤️ This man is a simp for Hermione and doesn't care.
I like how the author portrays Hermione's divorce. Hermione has always been so determined to find the solution to any problem, but when it comes to marriage, sometimes, the only solution is leaving. Ron and Hermione mutually agree to a divorce, and while it's sad because they love each other as friends, it's necessary for the sake of their own happiness. There wasn't really any Ron bashing, and the breakup was more or less amicable, which I feel is fair to their canon characters.
Hermione's character development is wonderful. We start with an overworked and tired witch who feels like she's drowning as the Minister of Magic and as Ron's wife. However, once she decides on the divorce and she gets an Advisor, things only get better. This fanfic features a major turning point in Hermione's life, and we get to see her discover old and new parts about herself. It's heartwarming and inspirational.
The sexual tension is the best I've ever read in any Dramione fanfiction. Draco's goal in life seems to be making Hermione blush, and she can't help getting flustered around him. Their banter is phenomenal, and the fact we get both their POVs brings so much flavor to their interactions.
The sex scenes are So F*CKING HOT! 🔥 No joke, Chapter 6 when they get into a heated argument and she goes to slap him and he holds her wrists right before they kiss?!?!?!?!?!?!?! It was like the previous sexual tension just exploded in this scene. Also, there's some role play, light dom/sub, praise kinks . . . ya know the general Dramione stuff. 😉
FYI, things only really heat up AFTER Hermione's divorce. After all, Draco is a respectable wizard.
The blackmail did a great job adding tension to their story. With every great romance, there's something that stands in the way of the main characters' happiness. Since Hermione is the Minister of Magic and Draco is her Advisor, it is illegal for them to have a romantic relationship. Someone finds out and uses it against Draco. This subplot gradually developed throughout the whole story and was well done. It annoyed me that Draco wouldn't tell Hermione what was going on, but I guess understand why he didn't.
Overall, Still Life is a fantastic Dramione fanfic! There's fluff, humor, spice, and everything nice! Definitely give this a shot if you're a fan of soft Draco.

4.5⭐️ I really liked this smutty shorter fic! The sexual tension was great, the smut scenes- great. The description alone got me wanting to read the story! Even though they were both previously married and with kids, the author did a nice job not mucking it up with bashing Ron crazy like some fics do.

Been in a Harry Potter mood ever since the new tv series trailer released. Just wanted something quick and fun to get into, so this fanfiction was perfect. Spicy Dramione will always be a win!

Kind of bummed by this one. Felt like it had no substance to it. The characters were written to say they couldn't get enough of one another but you couldn't feel it. There was just no tension there.

Better than the last one, but still happening too fast. I don’t think I can read short Dramione but I have a couple more downloaded so I’ll probably get through those
