Tachibana Higuchi (樋口 橘, HIGUCHI Tachibana), born 1976-03-16 , is a Japanese manga artist. In year 1996, she first made her debut work in Bessatsu Hana to Yume's 5th issue, entitled 5 Gatsu no Sakura (『5月のサクラ』?).

During an interview with Tokyopop, she gave a detailed account of how she started as a mangaka.

"I first submitted a manga story a while after I graduated from high school. Up until then I was studying for the entrance examinations for the Art University, and as part of that, I sometimes drew manga and four-panel strip comics for fun.

"Because I was conscious of the fact that I had started drawing manga in earnest at a later age, I think my progress during the beginning on drawing and storytelling techniques was fast as I frantically tried to absorb everything I could learn about creating manga. After the serialization of the story began, as I got busy, I was so desperate to submit it on time that I feel that the drawings probably haven’t improved much compared to before. During the serialization of the manga, I think my story telling techniques improved more as I concerned myself with how to catch the attention of the readers, how well one can incorporate what the readers are seeking into the story."

This volume wraps up the arc from the last two volumes and begins the transition for the Christmas arc. I will admit I got a little confused what happens/ what was discussed at the end, but that is either due to the fact that I was tired when I read it or the translation. Overall this arc was interesting and I love where the story is heading. Nataume feelings are becoming more apparent and through my reread I have been paying close attention to where his feelings change. The dynamic between him Mikan and Luka makes for one of he best most compelling and heartbreaking love triangles. I also love this volume because Higuchi-Sensei is willing to dark and complex places. Another great volume!

Pěkná kresba, které se dá bohužel hodně věcí vytknout. Občas měly nějaké části těla divnou velikost, jež se prostě nedala přehlédnout, protože to bilo do očí. Také se zde vyskytoval výškový nepoměr mezi různými věkovými skupinami. Taktéž se mi zdálo mnoho postav velice vzhledově podobných, takže se pak hůře rozpoznávali a bylo jednoduché se v tom ztrácet. U tohohle mohu ale přimhouřit oči, jelikož tu bylo charakterů opravdu požehnaně. Abych tady nezmiňovala jenom zápory, tak musím říci, že se mi hodně líbily zjednodušené kresby, design školních uniforem a ostatního oblečení.

Příběh se mi líbil, a dokonce mě některé momenty dojaly až k slzám. Pomyslela jsem si, že je moc hezké vidět něco tak nezkaženého. S odstupem času jsem ale k celému ději o dost skeptičtější. A překvapilo mě, kolik vad jsem byla schopna nalézt. Avšak ještě divnější bylo, že jsem si příběh byla přesto schopna docela užít.

První vadou je věk postav. Nemyslím tím, že je špatné, že jim bylo okolo deseti, ale to, že na svůj věk byli v některých ohledech až moc vyspělí. Řekla bych, že většina ve všech ohledech, protože především hlavní hrdinka měla tendence se k někomu pořád lísat. A kdyby nebyla tak nízcí, klidně bych prohlásila, že jsou na střední škole. Především když vezmu to, jak byli Mikan a Natsume pokročilý ve svém vztahu. Jako neřekla bych, že vášnivé líbání patří k desetiletým dětem. Ke všemu když se ani šesnáctiletí (nebo kolik jim bylo :D) nedostali tak daleko.

Dalším mínusem byla až přílišná zamotanost příběhu. Což bych nebrala obvykle jako vadu, ale tady to bylo až přespříliš. Začalo to někdy za dvacátou kapitolou. Od té doby jsem byla mnohokrát zmatená a nevěděla jsem, o co jde. Když k tomu navíc připočítáme to, jak moc si jednotlivé postavy byly podobné. A za druhé mě to ani nezajímalo, jelikož nějaký svůj příběh měl skoro každý. To je normálně dobrá věc, neboť to dodává příběhu na důvěryhodnosti. Tady to akorát zbytečně natahovalo příběh o nezajímavé informace o nudný charakterech, a když vezmete v úvahu počet postav... Je to pak úmorné.

Vadou číslo 3 jsou nezajímavé postavy, když nepočítám tedy ty hlavní, ty jsem si velice oblíbila. Ale ostatní mi byli úplně ukradení, a tak jsem přímo trpěla, když se tam objevovaly bubliny se strašně dlouhým textem. Ke všemu když se tam akorát řešily vztahy a jejich zamotanost. Tenhle a tamten miloval támhletu, ta milovalo tamtoho a tak dále. Tím se potom tak nějak vyřešilo všechno, což bylo dost neuvěřitelné. Ta láska se objevovala vážně všude, až to začínalo být nesnesitelné, jelikož nemůže být příčinou a průvodcem všech událostí.

Poslední výrazné mínus je, že nikdo nebyl ve skutečnosti zápornou postavou. Ze všech záporných postav se staly kladné, a nebo byly ukázány hrozně moc dobré "důvody," proč tomu tak je. Pokud teda nebudeme brát jako záporáky ty lidi, kteří stojí za Alice's Academy, neboť ti jediný byli zlí, neboť děti v ní vlastně uvěznili. Ale jelikož ani jeden z nich nebyl ukázán, tak se to nedá počítat.

Výše uvedená věc mi opravdu vadila. Vážně nemám ráda, takhle zkažený lidi, co myslí jen na sebe a na to, jak získat, co nejvíce peněz. Také si mi nelíbí to, jak ostatními opovrhují. Nechápu, proč jim ani nedovolili se vídat se svými rodiči. Jsem překvapená, že už dávno neudělali převrat. Protože bojovat proti zlu zevnitř, většinou moc nefunguje.

Abych jen příběhu něco nevytýkala, tak sem napíšu i nějaké klady. Nebo se o to aspoň pokusím. :D Největší plus bylo působení některých situací na mé emoce. Někdy v průběhu jsem byla opravdu emotivní, dokonce jsem uronila i pár slz. A u scének s Mikan a Natsumem jsem se culila jak malá holka. :D Pár věcí mě tu i pobavilo. A nic dalšího mě nenapadá. Ups...

Konec mi nijak zvlášť radost neudělal, jelikož je tam spoustu nelogických věcí, což mě štve. A celkově mi to přišlo celé divné

Anglické obálky se mi líbí o dost více než ty japonské. Vypadají víc elegantně a vznešeně. Na některých obálkách se mi ale nelíbí kresba postav/y.

I must have cared very little for the Z storyline the first time I read it, because I remembered nothing about it. Wasn't impressed with it this time either: its major revelation, its trope-y self-sacrifice of a very minor robot character, and its one-note boss villain were all rather boring. In general, I have a hard time with arcs centering adult characters in manga for young people, and here, the dialogue was deliberately mysterious, further losing me.

Gakuen Alice does much better for itself focusing on the students and their interactions, the magical powers, and events that take place at the school or close by. Natsume's birthday at the end of this volume is a good example of this story's fun and charming side. I don't mind hints of sadness and seriousness in an otherwise lighthearted manga, but they'd have to display the same level of storytelling to keep my attention.

Toda la parte del enfrentamiento con Z... Peak. Tengo muchas ganas de saber qué le ocurrió realmente al padre de la Mikan y porqué y es que todo apunta a qué lo mataron por ir en contra de la escuela, pero no sé de qué manera. Por otra parte, hace un par de tomos dije que no sabía quién era el director al que se referían pero es evidente que es el crio ese que nos presentaron en el festival junto a los directores de secundaria y bachillerato y solo quiero decir lo siguiente: dadme una pistola y se acaba rápido su tiranía. Luce que va a caerme más como el culo si hablan más de él.
Finalmente agradezco el cambio de tono en el último capítulo del tomo, aunque la presencia del Persona te hace recordar que la aparente tranquilidad y felicidad es poco más que temporal e ilusoria.
En resumen: estamos jodidos!!

On rencontre un perso hypeeeer important (je pense), et j'ai pleuré toutes les larmes de mon cooorps, il est super triste celui-là 😭🤧 On y obtient quelques infos sauf que les tenants et aboutissants sont toujours aussi brumeux, je comprends des trucs tandis que d'autres je sais pas quoi en penser.. Ah je suis à fond ! Puis le T8 se termine par un ptit marché de Noël magnifique et l'anniv du grincheux en chef Natsume. Ce côté pause cosy après les drames d'avant fait du bien 😅

Tsubasa save mikan from falling, omgosh 😍 I can't take my eyes on that moment n protect mikan. Natsume birthday made me laugh because natsume's friends pick the present for natsume, if someone give natsume best present that made him happy is a winner n the Loser will be slave in command, poor mikan. Hahahahah 😂. Narumi n Yuka moment, so curious about their story.I was hoping to read it.Move on to vol 9 =).

I love this series I think I say that everytime I read one of these books.

In this volume they are still trying to help get Hotaru and Prez Alice's back. Will they be able to get them back you will have to read. At one point in this volume it is so sad what happens. This is starting to get a little darker the story but it still has it moments of being so cute.
Hopefully you will read this series to see how wonderful it is. To bad Tokyopop didn't get a chance to finish the series before they left :(

Tachibana Higuchi continues to frustrate me with a good plot, fun characters, and solid pictures, but the inability to put these together in a way that does any of them service. There's a very good story going on here but the art, and perhaps the translation I'll admit, does a poor job of conveying that story.

Eine meiner absolut liebsten Manga-Reihen, weil es nicht nur einen tollen Spannungsbogen besitzt, sondern weil die Charaktere sich auch Band um Band weiter entwickeln. Erwachsen werden, dazu lernen. Super schön dargestellt und wirklich angenehmer Zeichenstil. Inzwischen gibts auch einen Anime dazu, der aber im Vergleich zum Manga nicht so gut geworden ist und einen eher älteren Eindruck macht obwohl Alice Academy ein aktueller Manga ist.

Natsume's getting weaker, and yet his alice seems to remain so strong.

A friendship between him and Tsubasa-senpai is forming as well.

Ruka's falling in love with Mikan.

Hotaru's...getting more matured? But that's why I love her.
