Resurrecting Magic #2

Keeper of the Lost

Rate this book
Nathaniel and I thought we were alone in this, until the day our enemy walked through the door, showing us the impossible things he could do. Borden Stewart was the last person we ever thought we could trust—I certainly don’t, but Nathaniel has forgiven and forgotten.

As a new semester at Alderidge University starts, the stakes are higher than ever. There are ramifications to Borden leaving the Society Boys. Now all of us—our work—are targets. And how am I ever supposed to focus on school, when the call to bring back magic grows more intense by the day? Alderidge is part of my family legacy, but I’m realizing my future is leading me elsewhere.

Our mastery is expanding—fire starting, telekinesis, even alchemy. And then we unleashed the ability to test if any book or person has magical abilities.

Now, everything is about to change.

Keeper of the Lost is a fitting title for book 2 of the Resurrecting Magic series. In Keeper of the Lost, main characters Margot and Nathaniel continue directly after the first book so you get right back into the action with them. This time however, they recruited a couple of new friends who had the mark of magic in them. With brewing magic on the rise and the need to find answers to the lost art, Margot, Nathaniel, Borden, and newcomer Mary-Beth go on a long journey to discover who they really are and what powers they all have.

Keeper of the Lost is just as fast paced as first book in the series. It is important that you read the first book so that you get the origins of how Margot and Nathaniel met and how they first discovered their powers. These two main characters have very different personalities, so you instantly feel that there will be some kind of conflict between them. They started off as strangers to friends then to dating each other. But do their differences bring them closer together or break them farther apart? You'll have to read Keeper of the Lost to find out.

The other two friends in this story are really interesting. You have Borden, who was somewhat the enemy of Nathaniel due to an event that happened in book one. But since he discovered that he is just like Margot and Nathaniel, they all sort of develop a truce and work together. Then along comes Mary-Beth, a classmate of Margot's who is just as eager to learn about her magical traits.

In book two, the four friends dive deeper into magic and each learn a bit of their own skills. Mary-Beth however, seems to not have fully developed any powers or abilities except with the fact that she is a "mage". I hope she discovers her powers soon though because she is a rather likeable character who is straightforward and kind.
Borden comes from old money and descended from royalty, so it'd be interesting to see just which of his ancestors were witches. He is quite interesting as well because he left a very volatile group in college and faced diversity and problems after another throughout the entire story. While he is written to be a strong character, there is something very vulnerable about him too - which Margot slowly helps him open up to her and the rest of their group.

The Resurrecting Magic series reminds me of the tv series, Charmed (the original version) where each of the main characters are finding out just how powerful they really are. Each of these characters have their own unique abilities and are willing to do whatever it takes to learn more about them. This book series is sort of an origins story, where the main characters Margot and Nathaniel are starting their own paths to resurrecting lost magic. In this sense, the series also reminds me of the Xmen where a school is developed to help other magical beings discover their own magical abilities and talents.

So, if you enjoy reading a fast paced, origins story about strong yet fallible characters, and discovering magic, then be sure to pick up both Keeper of the Lost (book 2) and Rise of the Mage (book 2).

Thank you, Keary for another excellent read!

The story continues where it left off in book one, only now their little group of mages is growing with Society Boy, Borden Stewart revealing himself to both Margot and Nathaniel as a mage. They give him a brief history of what happened to "witches" in the past, and even after using a coin of compulsion, Margot is still unsure if she can forgive Boren for his part in nearly killing Nathaniel. Alderidge may never be the same again.

First of all, can we just talk about that ending, I definitely didn't see that coming. It left the story on such a cliffhanger and left me desperate for book 3! The whole story took me on a rollercoaster of emotions, especially with Margot and Nathaniel's relationship. I absolutely loved the new characters brought into this story, Mary-Beth is definitely my favourite, she's sassy and has no problems telling people exactly what she thinks and I can't wait to see her character develop more in the next book.

Bring on book 3!

I have so many thoughts about this book but I'm going to try to be vague because spoilers. So please be aware.

As I did with the first book, once I started I couldn't put it down. I gave it 5 stars but really 4 1/2 as I felt Nathaniel got kind of sidelined in this book, which is a shame as love him and love him and Margot together. I also kind of felt Margot is going down a dark path, and I'm interested to see where it goes (as long as it's not into someone else's arms - I'm strictly a Nate/Margot fan).

I'm still not a Borden fan, something just not right about that guy for me. Loved Mary-Beth though, she's a breath of fresh air. I look forward to where their studies into magic end up going, especially now they're in Scotland where I live. I'm biased of course, but Scotland is a magical place and can't wait for the next book.

i hate cliffhangers…….
she annoyed me a lot. she has some kind of arrogance to her, ruining everything because she thinks it’s the right thing to do but nobody gets to say a word? it’s so frustrating that boden didn’t get to graduate and for someone who hates injustice margot was fine with him loosing four years of education for a mear prank.
nathaniel is too good for her!! hes just so goal driven and mature and soft and nice and kind and perfect, he should be with me!!! I love the other girl but I can’t remember her name, she is the silly goose every friend group needs. I hope she gets her magic soon, I wonder what it is.
the story was just as good as the first one I can’t wait to read the third on, y’all I’m EATING THEM UPPPPP

SOOOO good! Keepers of the Lost quickly picks up where the last novel ended and doesn't waste anytime making up for lost time. One can tell that this is absolutely a bridge novel tying the first novel and the upcoming together There are parts where it seems as if you are getting a lot of information that is leading you somewhere but you aren't sure where it is going to be taking you. It was nice to see more character development and character evolving as the series continues. Highly recommend and can not wait to see where the next novel goes - the foundation is set for a phenomenal series that just keeps getting better!

Oh my my. I absolutely love love this book. It starts, where book 1 ended. Let me tell you if you enjoyed book 1, then you will most definitely enjoy book 2 as well. The Mage grows. And let me tell you I was in a lot of different emotions. I love how it just kept me wanting more, chapter after chapter. Gah, what can I say about Nathaniel and Margot, I really don’t know what to say. You will have to read it to know about them and the other characters as well. I absolutely was not happy that I finished the book. Because now I really really want Book 3. I Absofreakinlutely recommend this book, the series in general. Keary has done it again, giving us another amazing book!!!

I am totally enthralled by this new series and direction that Keary is taking.

I'm so excited to follow Margot and Nathaniel on their journey to resurrect magic!

This, the second installment continues on with Borden being inducted into their little group and gaining their trust. We follow Bordens troubles as the Society Boys make his life hell as he breaks from them.

The group continue scouring libraries for new books of magic and do come across a few, and theres a huge discovery that will literally have you gasping at the end.
I can't wait for the next installment.

No surprises here that I completely loved this book! The characters are so rich, and lovely. The focus on books and libraries makes me wish it were winter while I was reading them, just wish I could be all cozy, bundled with a cup of tea and my puppy! I would totally have had a huge crush on Nathaniel when I was in high school (maybe I still do lol)! Im excited to see what comes in the rest of the series.

good, a bit angsty

This was a good #2 book. Moved things forward. Some angst added. New characters. I didn’t like what happened to Borden. And I’m annoyed with Margot, but she’s young.

Also, what year are these books set in? Pre internet, for sure. But they are all modern in their actions and words. Alternate reality where internet was never invented? IDK

This series is just getting better. The endings are making me immediately get into the next!

Still a YA series. No smut. Barely any romance between Margot and Nathaniel. I hope they make it..

I loved that they have a crew now and went overseas to find more about mages.

and we might now know the mystery of what happened Margot's mom..

In this next book, we see the group of Mages grow. I love seeing how they expand their group and their magical abilities. I feel like I’m a part of Margot, Nathaniel and Bordens adventures finding other Mages. I cannot wait for the next book to see what happens next.

Very good

I am a love conquers all kind of girl. This breakup sucks. 💔 I have stopped reading series for less. You can't make me love a couple then destroy them. I will keep reading for now because the plot is good. Here's hoping

I’ve been reading this author for quite a while now, and I am always amazed at how different each book is. In this one, Margot and Nathaniel add to their mage team with an unexpected member. Soon, they decide it’s time to find even more mages. But that’s proving even more difficult than they thought, and it leads them to some unexpected places. This book is filled with twist and turns, and one that is so unexpected, I’m not sure how I feel about it. However, as this author has proved time and again, she knows what she’s doing, and she does it well so I just need to hold on for the ride. Well-written, great characters, and an interesting plot make this a series well worth reading. And, even though the characters are teen-aged, they are mature ones. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

The story continues, now they know there are more mages around. Margot and Nathaniel have to figure out how to figure out how to find them and how to approach people... All while the Society Boys are still making things difficult. I can't wait to see where the next book takes us!

Well I give this 5 stars.....my rating is not saving so I will edit this at some point :/
I really enjoyed this, again I loved seeing the maturity in Margot throughout. A natural leader and a force to be reckoned with. Its about self exploration and pushing yourself.
I am glad that the story has progressed past the university setting and can't wait for the next book which is set in Scotland (I was married in Scotland) :)

This series just keeps heating up. When we left off with these two budding Mages we had just found that there had been a third one that had been completely unexpected. I am falling in love with the series. I like how it is written with a blind concept. That magic is a lost art and is now re-emerging rather than stuff that's already known that people have to catch up on. It's that they're learning at all over again which is really cool to see because that's not often included in stories. The only critique I have is that it feels like the story is written at 1.5 speed and at times feels as though it is going a little fast. However this does not take away from the content within the story somehow. The story leaves with a sense of wonder and a craving to keep reading. I am looking forward to my next literary fix.
