Jill Shalvis is a NYT, USA Today, and Amazon Top 100 bestselling author of small-town romance and romcoms, known for big feels, found family, and plenty of shenanigans.

If you love small-town chaos, meddling friends and neighbors, sizzling chemistry, and heroes who fall hard for the one woman they absolutely did not plan on, you’re in the right place. Jill’s books blend laugh-out-loud moments with emotional gut punches, slow-burn tension, and deeply earned happily ever afters.

She writes the stories she loves to read: small-town romance and romantic comedies packed with heart, heat, second chances, grumpy/sunshine sparks, and the kind of found-family vibes that make you want to move right into the pages. Many of her series are perfect for binge-reading, and a number of her books are available in Kindle Unlimited and at major retailers.

When she’s not writing, she’s probably plotting new ways to torture her characters, avoiding laundry, or daydreaming about fictional men and the strong, complicated women who bring them to their knees—and then making them work for it.

You can follow Jill here on Goodreads to keep up with new releases, add her books to your shelves, and discover which small town you want to get lost in next.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Books three and four in the Lucky Harbor series, One Lucky Day, features some of the best of Shalvis' writing.

Head Over Heels stars one of my favorite couples, Chloe and Sawyer. The first three books in the series star three sisters that weren't raised together but come together after their mother dies and they inherit an Inn in the small town of Lucky Harbor. Chloe is the youngest sister and the “wild child” while Sawyer is the Sheriff and by-the-book. The first two books show the two developing some heated sexual tension as they circle each other and their own book delivers on all the promised heat. There's a suspense plot threaded in that has Sawyer contracted out to the DEA that gives a little danger but for the most part, this story is all about the tension and heat between Chloe and Sawyer. These two are steamy together and more alike than anyone realizes. I also like how we get emotional growth from Chloe and scenes with her sisters as their bond solidifies. Sawyer has his own friendships with the past heroes in the series and some of his own family drama with his father but I mostly enjoyed how Chloe settles him and draws out that teasing, flirting with naughtiness side of his.

Lucky in Love brings in some side characters that we briefly meet in the previous three books, hometown sweetheart Mallory and the sexy mysterious new guy in town Ty. Mallory gets her own “sisters” with Amy and Grace (their the heroines in the next two books) and they decide that it's time for Mallory to date Mr. Wrong, a chance for her to try the wild side. Mr. Wrong turns out to be Ty, he's in town because his friend Matt (he's a Lucky Harbor Park Ranger and yes, he gets his own book) invited him to stay as Ty recovers from an injury. Ty is a former Navy SEAL, currently a government contractor and is used to being on his own. Mallory and Ty meet-cute while Ty is concussed and we get a sort of blind date and a “we'll only sleep together but not catch feelings”. This story has a little bit of a more weightier feel than usual light and sexy Shalvis but I liked the change of pace, especially in a longer series like Lucky Harbor. These two take a little while to work through their individual issues but deliver the sexiness while doing it.

One Lucky Day: 2-in-1 Edition featuring "Head Over Heels" and "Lucky in Love" is a delightful journey into the world of romance.

"Head Over Heels" introduces readers to characters whose chemistry and interactions are undeniably engaging. The budding romance is portrayed with a sense of authenticity that draws readers in, making it easy to invest emotionally in their journey. The pacing and development of the plot were commendable, providing a satisfying blend of tension, heartache, and joy.

"Lucky in Love" continues the romantic theme with its own unique charm. The story's premise and character dynamics offer a fresh perspective on love and fate. While some plot elements felt a tad predictable, the overall execution and writing style made for an enjoyable read. The characters' growth and the gradual unfolding of their feelings added depth to the narrative.

While both stories are well-crafted and enjoyable, there were moments when I wished for a bit more complexity and depth in certain aspects. Additionally, while the pacing was generally well-maintained, there were instances where it felt slightly rushed, affecting my overall immersion in the story.

In terms of readability and entertainment value, the One Lucky Day 2-in-1 Edition shines. It's a perfect choice for readers seeking lighthearted romance and a quick escape into fictional worlds filled with love and longing. The inclusion of two stories in one volume adds value and variety, making it an appealing choice for those who appreciate romantic fiction.

Jill Shalvis’s third book in the Lucky Harbor series is full of irresistible unwanted attraction. A little danger thrown in with humor and misunderstandings take these two through ups and downs that just may lead to happily ever after. Jill Shavis’s Head Over Heels continues the look into the lives of these small-town characters and a town that has character of its own that the reader will come to love and care about all of the Lucky Harbor residents. Jill Shalvis takes the reader on a fun; sexy boy meets girl story in her fictional town of Lucky Harbor. Where the residents advice isn’t always welcome. This book was actually two books in one. The first book was called Head Over Heels and I would have given it 3 stars. The author was obsessed with the main character having asthma. She made it the seem like it was the single most important thing about her, it wasn’t and shouldn’t have been. The second book was called Lucky in Love. I really enjoyed this book and would give it 4-5 stars. The main characters in this book were interesting and well suited for each other.

DRC from Edelweiss and Hachette Book Group

Fun rom-com with strong female characters and interesting twists. 2 books in one - a few characters overlap. Both stories take place in the sleepy town of Lucky Harbor. Characters show growth as the story progresses and ultimately "live happily ever after."

Two good novels in one book, Head Over Heels and Lucky in Love. Setting is in the same town and incorporates a few town characters into each story. However, the stories stand alone. Good characters, plausible stories, and good sex. Fun reads, I would recommend.

I was gifted this book and wasn't sure what to expect, but let me tell you. I want to read all of the Lucky Harbor stories. I feel like I know a lot of the characters just from these two books, and the writing reeled me in.

I loved this!!! The two in one was the perfect size for the stories.. sometimes contemporary romance is repetitive in the makeup/breakup or the basically “I burn for you” dialogue but these were refreshing and fun and of course 😮‍💨😮‍💨
