Her Dragon Hero

He hates me -- how can he be my fated mate?

I know I screwed up. I want to make it up to the people that I hurt, but the best way to do that might be to stay far away and forget about them. So why can’t I stop thinking about Jury? The young dragon hates me. I heard the things he said. And yet as soon as he finds me again, I can’t keep away.

I’m not about to let another man use me, no matter how much he makes my heart flutter. Jury only needs me because his inner dragon is being difficult and refusing to shift. He doesn’t really want me. And according to his reputation, just one woman might not be enough to satisfy him.

But Jury is determined to win me over, and the harder he tries, the more I realize he’s ready to leave his party days behind and claim his fated mate. Me.

Everything would be perfect if I didn’t live halfway around the country, and if his duty to his family didn’t have him walking straight into danger. And when that danger comes knocking at my door, Jury promises he’ll do everything to protect me. But am I ready to be the mate of a dragon?

Jury is ready to claim his mate in "Her Dragon Hero". He may be the youngest of the Kingston brothers, but he loves just as deeply and Abby won’t be able to resist him for long. These mates clash and then come together in a fiery bond strong enough to stand all the trials the world can throw at them in this standalone dragon shifter novel.

Man, I did not like this one. Jury was a spoiled, entitled, selfish, rich asshole. And he treated Abby like complete garbage, but when he changed his mind and showed a teeny bit of interest, she was all over him. Then he was an asshole again, and at the first opportunity, Abby hurled herself at him as if there was nothing to forgive.

This series is cheesy brain-vacation fun, but I just can't enjoy a woman who thinks so little of herself just fold like wet toilet paper for a douchebag who runs hot and cold.

And as an extra bit of fun, in this book we found out that only dragons have a say in anything in dragon society, and dragons are only men, so oh well, women get no say. It's not sexist, nooooooo, it's just that they aren't dragons! *eyeroll*

Even more hilariously terrible was Jury, as we're getting that bit of exposition from his POV, thinking he'd never treat women that way. And then like 5 minutes later, something happens and rather than tell Abby what's going on so she can be informed and make choices for herself, he tells her nothing, makes all the choices, demands she trust him, snaps at her to stop mothering him when she expresses concern, and then takes off.

She is, of course, immediately in a life-threatening situation because she had no idea what's going on and Jury is a stupid motherfucker.

I need a break from this series, and the string of weak-willed women who fall on their backs with their legs spread for these dudes who fuck up in every book but never do anything to fix it. On a scale of 1 to 10, the first book was a 7 on that meter, and it has progressed to this book, which is about a 45.

And lest you think I'm exaggerating, the grand gesture in this book is the spoiled rich kid ordering breakfast and having it delivered to her one morning, with a note apologizing. She, of course, falls over herself expressing how wonderful it is. Right. Literally zero thought or effort, just a rich dude slapping breakfast on his credit card. Sure.

The story revolves around alpha dragons who are discovering their fated mates, which have traditionally been human females. However, humans are unaware of the dragons' existence and do not feel a bond with them. Thus, dragons can only reveal themselves if they are certain that the woman is the one their fate intended for them.

As these women learn about the new world around them and what it means to be fated, the narrative becomes rich with tension. Each woman also grapples with her own personal challenges, and the dragons will do anything to keep their mates safe.

Emotions run high as the characters confront their circumstances, navigating conflicting feelings of fear, hope, and longing. The presence of strong alpha males adds another layer of complexity to the story.

Amid these challenges, there is an undercurrent of playful interactions. Overall, the narrative is a captivating blend of love, action, and adventure that keeps readers engaged from beginning to end.

Short and sweet

Jury is a little rebel and not looking for love and defiantly not with Abby but what can a Dragon do when the mate bond kicks in? He tried to resist the pull but when he realises his assumptions about Abby were wrong to begin with and he starts to fall hard he just had to hope she'll forgive his previous behaviour and accept his apologies.

Her Dragon Hero

This was a tough MMC to like. He's young, judgemental, and a man whore. He accuses the MFC of being spoiled but he's the one who grew up rich. She definitely made some bad choices but she grew up with so much less support than him it makes sense. He ends up apologizing for his behavior but I still wasn't convinced by him.

His dragon is awesome,

“Stop sleeping with women who don’t matter to us.”

It isn't until his dragon tells him, “Idiot. I’m growing to hate you..…” that the MMC starts to get a clue. In fact, this short paragraph about him as a child pretty much sums up his personality overall,

“Once, when I was a kid, I convinced myself there was a snake-like monster that lived in the toilet. I refused to poop for over a week until I was so constipated my mom had to take me to the healer. They put something up my butt and I pooped until the toilet clogged.”

Jury, the tracker dragon of the Kingston clan. Also the youngest son of the clan has been with his fated mate, Abby from the previous book. Don’t let that’s scare you off. Jury can’t believe that she allowed her evil father to manipulate her into trapping her sister. Not considering she and her sister are half dragons, this should be an easy fix. But slightly intoxicated Jury can his mouth at the bar about his feelings about her behaviors. He is resisting his mate. He has witnessed how much it is inevitable to do so. The adventure into finding her after she runs off and the other characters involved will make you think slapping or knocking sense into them would work. Get the book. Just don’t throw or device but the paper book if you have one because ......

Playboys and mates don’t go together. Stay away from this book. By the time you get into, you find out he slept with EVERY woman in town. Really. It ruined it and made me feel literally ill. Multiple women tell her they’ve slept with him. It ruins it and it makes their intimate times together not special. He told her he hadn’t been with anybody since they met and didn’t want to be but when she left after he was a jerk, he kissed another girl and wanted to go further but his dragon wouldn’t let him. If he had the choice he would’ve slept around even after knowing she was his mate. He’s an idiot that doesn’t deserve to be in a mate book. I don’t want to read about loser guys that sleep with anyone they can, we already have those in real life. Shifters are supposed to be special and different and fiercely loyal. The worst part is, this series was going so well and this author was respecting mates. Sometimes I read books that make me want to vomit because it begins with the male character screwing some random woman or the male trying with other women(like this one). We don’t want to read about his sex life with other women.

Paranormal Romances are all about the mates. Their lives and how they meet and the pursuit from there. We don’t want to read about the nameless women of their pasts and 100% don’t want a whiff of any current woman other than their mate. If you can’t respect mates and what they stand for and the loyalty, I don’t want to read it and you shouldn’t write it cause it ticks off readers that know what good mate books are like.

I sincerely hope Maddox doesn’t have a book now that I just read he was found laying on a girls stomach and another girl and his friend didn’t want to see his overworked dick! I mean why would anybody want to read a romance starring Maddox with that picture in mind? Barf! Another man slut that doesn’t deserve to be a shifter or in a mate romance.

Jury karma is a four letter word for you.

It seems like Jury's days of being with every beautiful girl in town without a relationship have finally set sail. Because Nyx is furious with his behavior! However, Jury is stubborn & keeps going to parties trying to hook up with girls. Nyx isn't having it because they aren't his mate. Instead Nyx is causing Jury to feel nauseous every time he tries to be intimate with a woman. This goes on for 8 months. Plus Nyx gets so depressed he barely shifts or talks to Jury. When Jury is called on to help find his cousin they find him in a bar that Abby happens to be getting drunk at. She has been miserable after returning home. Her friends turned out to be untrustworthy. She & her mom argue whenever in the same room. Plus it sounds like mom had a revolving door of men constantly. Some even hit on her. So mom wasn't who she made her seem to be. Anyway, I digress back to the bar. A guy starts bothering her & slips something into her drink. She tries to get to the bathroom however, this fat jerk won't let her. And out of nowhere her knight in shinning armour comes in & rips this guy off her. Jury hands the guy off to Maddox & grabs Abby who several times tries to tell him she was drugged before she blacks out. Jury cares for her over night. And then his stupid mouth berates her. Which makes her ask to go home. Maddox insists she call Harley who has been worried sick about her. That is a shock to Abby because she keeps leaving messages for Harley in hopes she will give her a chance. It turns our Harley has forgiven her. Abby has been writing her Nana for these 8 months. Harley insists Abby comes for a visit. Abby decides to accept. She spends a week there. She rents a house because to stay with Nana, Stefen, & Harley seems like she might run to Jury that way. Stubborn Jury sees this as an opportunity to basically appease Nyx & then he assumes life will go back to normal. Normal meaning he can act like he's single & be able to shift. However, he screws up the apology when he runs into her at the ice cream parlor. And he rushes in as the cashier warns her to steer clear of Jury calling him a player. You'll be surprised to hear how Nanas health is in this book. Jury eventually gets his act together. Things turn from bad to worst when the same cousin is kidnapped. Once again Jury has to track him. However, something doesn't sit right with Jury about it. Later he learns why when they kidnap Abby. And Harley finally has that baby three weeks late. Ouch!

He was stubborn as a mule....
by and1515

He finally found the one and he didn't like her and all he could think was fate was having a huge laugh at his expense.
All Abby had wanted was a drink but then she'd heard him ranting and that's when she finally realized he'd been talking about her and honestly his words hurt.
Jury couldn't believe how many months had passed sense he'd seen her.
His side kick had wanted them to run off to look for her but nope and now he was making things more difficult.
Then he let his true feelings out when he tried to have a good time at a party only to not have it go quite like he'd hoped.
Abby loved her job but ever since she'd returned nothing felt right.
Here she was sitting in some bar trying to keep herself from breaking down instead she tried calling her sister but of course she didn't answer so she apologized yet.
For some reason Mr. Jerk didn't want to take no for an answer and it didn't matter that she kept repeating that one word hoping he'd leave her alone. She was trapped trying to escape that big dumb jerk only to be yanked away from him.
Abby would reckonized those eyes anywhere.
Jury was here and he'd rescued her but she also knew it would be long before she unfortunately passed out.
He been sent to find one dumb cousin and ended up finding them both in the same trashy bar.
She was supposed to be in another state not this one but here she was at least the one thing he could do was make sure she was safe.
It been weeks sense they'd last seen Abby and his sidekick was driving him crazy he refuse to cooperate and in essence was being a big schmuck.
Even his dad pointed out he was fighting a losing battle and it would be better if he'd accept the truth.
Even with the news he'd just heard it might have made his bratty sidekick happy but not him.
Abby didn't know why she felt so nervous after all she'd been talking to her sister and now she was on her way to visit.
Jury knew he had a lot to make up for after all he'd been the stubborn fool who hadn't wanted to get know her and his sidekick had suffered.
Once again he was being asked to search for his bratty cousin and of course they wouldn't say no especially after his last message.
But when his girl ends up being caught in the middle Jury will have to think fast before something bad happened.

Her Dragon Hero
By Roxie Ray

Roxie Ray writes such marvelous books and I’ve enjoyed each one in this series, including this fourth one. This one tells the story of Jury Kingston, a dragon shifter, and Abby, the daughter of a dragon shifter and the half-sister of Harley, the female protagonist in the previous book (Her Dragon Lover). Abby had done some things at the request of her and Harley’s father that ended up causing emotional harm to Harley and her fated mate. Jury thinks Abby is a whiny, spoiled, self-absorbed brat and can’t believe she is his fated mate. He thinks that if he just stays away from her, his dragon Nyx will forget about her. He finds out how wrong he was when Nyx withdraws from him and refuses to shift.

Meanwhile, Abby had overheard Jury complaining about her and left to return to her home in Texas. She is employed as a preschool teacher and has had a rough week, so she goes to a bar near her apartment. After drinking much more than she’d planned, a man at the bar refused to leave her alone. She made her way back towards the bathroom, but he cornered her. Incredibly, Jury and certain members of his family were there on an entirely unrelated matter and he managed to rescue her. For the first time in months, Nyx is happy and Jury vows not to make his dragon sad and withdrawn again.

Abby had managed to mend fences with her half-sister, who is expecting a baby. Near the due date, she takes time off work and flies to Black Claw, Colorado to visit Harley and hopefully to be there when the baby is born. Of course, Jury is there and wants to take advantage of the opportunity so that he and his dragon can really get to know Abby.

Ms. Ray draws such wonderful characters and imbues them with the emotions you would expect to encounter in real life. Her plots always have an element of danger and mystery and this book is no exception. If you’ve never read one of her books, I highly recommend that you try one. Then you’ll be hooked like me!

The Kingston men definitely have luck on their side when it comes to finding their fated mate, and in Her Dragon Hero its Jury’s turn. At the end of the last book, Jury’s realization that Abby would be his fated mate, had him roiled in disgust… a reaction you wouldn’t expect towards someone you’re supposed to fall in love with. Jury’s misconception of Abby’s character put up a barrier not only between him and Abby, but also between him and his dragon. I love that we get to see the growth of Jury’s character as he goes from the stubborn, partying playboy to a mature, responsible gentleman… and in turn Abby’s true self shines through her sweet and caring nature. As with each couple, the turmoil that arises around the clan interweaves action and suspense, building up the strength of their bond and securing their destined relationship. I am such a fan of this series! I enjoy seeing the characters and storyline progress throughout the books and I would definitely recommend reading/listening in order to get the full experience of the Black Claw dragon family.

Listened on audio: Each book has a different narrator, and Gigi Amour was the perfect choice for Jury and Abby. She did an excellent performance of highlighting their youthfulness, showcasing both their tentativeness towards each other as well as the growing confidence and maturity as a couple. Gigi’s voices were truly distinct and spot on for these characters, making it a fabulous listening experience.

It was a while ago I read this now so ill try to remember what happened

Jury hates Abby because of what happened in the last book and he makes sure she knows it too. Even though she is his fated mate he is determined to not be with her which pisses off his dragon who is refusing to shift. She leaves because she thinks everyone hates her.

It then jumps 8 months and Jury hasn't been with another woman since and he was previously a bit of a playboy. He decides he is done listening to his dragon and goes out with Maddox to get laid. He finds a woman and they kiss but he feels nothing and goes home. I know people hated that, I read reviews that were pissed but I wasn't that bothered and it was right at the beginning.

She goes to a bar to get drunk but ends up drugged. Some guy tries to leave with her and Jury shows up and saves her. He is looking for his cousin who has gone AWOL. He takes her to the place he is staying to make sure she is ok. The next day her sister calls and they talk. Her sister never hated her she was more in shock

Jury is still acting like he hates her but he gets very annoyed when people tell her what a player he is.

She meets his dragon and now Jury is actually taking time to get to know her he realises she isn't that bad. They go back home and she sees her sister and gran and their relationships get stronger every day. Jury starts falling in love and accepting she is his mate.

Jurys cousin goes missing a second time and he accidently tells some people he shouldn't that Jury is a tracker and they kidnap Abby. He gets her back and the good guys win obvs. He asks her to move back with him and she says yes. No epilogue

This book really needed proof reading or something. There were so many mistakes. She calls her sister and they talk and then she says she really needs to call her sister. When the first get back she runs straight to her sister but then a few pages later she is with Jury and her sister arrives, that was weird. She says she only has two days before she has to go home and then Jury says I cant believe I only have three days left. There were more too.

This was just ok. They expected way too much of Jury, working him until he couldn't physically do anything anymore. I didn't like the grandad. Seemed to care only about the cousin then Jury.

This is the first book I have read in the series and I feel like I am missing part of the story. I have no idea what Abby did for Jury and his family to dislike her so much except that it has to do with her father and him deceiving and trying to kill her half sister and other dragons and mislead and used Abby in the process. Abby overhears Jury and leaves however Jury's dragon Nyx is not happy and gets upset and depressed. One night Abby makes a drunken/drugged call to her sister to apologize just before being saved by Jury after which she reconnects with her sister and goes to visit her sister.

I liked that Abby was mature and caring enough to apologize for all those she might have hurt and upset and call Jury out on his treatment of her and his judging her in a week while mourning her father (scum or not ) and coming to terms with what he did. Jury was immature and spoilt but he did grow through out the book and redeemed himself. All the characters are well written, the story and plot interesting and dull of action, and romance. My only problem was that the book is not really a stand alone as the reader does not have the back story.

Second Chances

After Harley's kidnapping and Abby's involvement in it, Jury had a bad taste in his mouth about Abby. She may be his fated mate, but he wanted nothing to do with her.

Abby returned home back to Texas and Jury tried to forget the backstabbing b*tch he thought Abby was. Months passed and, with each passing week, Jury's dragon, Nxy was becoming more and more unhappy with his separation from Abby. So much so that he refused to shift into dragon form for Jury.
Then, by chance, Jury became Abby's saving white knight after an altercation at a bar. He decided then that wanted to give Abby a 2nd chance; to let go of past offenses. As soon as he realized that Abby wasn't the person he originally thought she was, there was no holding back.
Distance, immaturity, rash choices and rogue dragons put a lot of kinks in their story but they did manage to raise above it all and grab their happily ever after by the tail (yeah, pun intended)

I had such high hopes for this book. I was really excited with the fact that Jury did not like Abby. I was really hoping for some sexy tension. I feel this one was written to fast and was too short. It could have been so much better. I just skipped the first sexy masturbation scene because in my opinion I did not feel it and thought it was ridiculous. Abby was way to quick to just be like "yeah I love him" and I felt Jury more when he hated Abby then loving her half way through the book. This book gave me more of a feel that they got together just because they were fated not for love. It started off really good with Jury's dragon not wanting to come out but I feel Abby just accepted Jury for his dragon. I really had high hopes and was very disappointed because this could have been so much better. There were a lot more grammar and inconsistence in this story it was hard to read just for a fun easy read. I hope the next one will be better.

Jury Kingston is a dragon shifter, and Abby is a dragon shifter’s daughter and Jury’s mate, if he will give her a chance and accept her. But Jury has formed a bad opinion of her, angry that she hurt people he loves, and figures he will just avoid her. His dragon disagrees.

Despite the fact we have dragons, the author is superb at bringing her characters to life, making them so realistic and believable that the reader can’t help but accept them as real. It gives a whole different spin to the story, and the world-building puts us right in the middle of the locale to experience it first-hand. It doesn’t get more real than that! A little bit of growing up here and there, a dash of forgiveness, and some tender care might fix up some of their problems with each other. Can they manage that and find the HEA that Fate is trying to lead them to?

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Her Dragon Hero by Roxie Ray is the fourth book in her Black Claw Dragons series. I read this book as a drop-in and this book can be read as stand alone. But honestly, this was such a fun and emotion evoking read that I'm going backwards to read the previous books. There are spoilers if you read the series out of order, but with the crisp and witty writing and the fabulously developed characters, they are more like teasers than spoilers. I loved the ebb and flow of Abby and Jury's relationship. This quick read is action packed, fast paced has sexy dragon shifters and fated mates, steamy love scenes (Mature Readers Only) and an HEA.

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by reading a copy through Booksprout.

I'm super forgiving with reviews, ESPECIALLY when it comes to KU books, but heroines with double standards is one of those things that can just ruin a whole book for me. I'd rather have a total Mary Sue, immature, whiny heroine who cries and sulks the entire book after falling in insta-lust with the hero.

An EXCELLENT read, and the first time I could completely understand someone’s reticence about being a fated mate. Jury doesn’t like Abby. she heard It from his own mouth. But the more he fights his dragon, the more his dragon fights him.

I loved the interaction between human and his dragon. This book spent more time explaining the relationship between the two. And how the actions of one affect the other. Iloved that Abby like talking to Nyx. This was my favorite book of the series so far.

What a Hero!

Her Dragon Hero Black Claw Dragons: Book 4
By Roxie Ray

Jury and his dragon didn't think much of his fated mate. Now that she took off all he could think about is getting her back.
Abby knew what Jury thought of her. She wasn't going to stay where she wasn't wanted so she made plans to catch a plane home the next day.
Another dragon finds his fated mate, what is in the water? It's the youngest brothers time to find his mate and man has he stepped into it.
I recommend reading this series in order to get a better idea as how the other characters are involved in the series.

Good but there were errors

I liked the first three books better but I did enjoy it. There were a few big mistakes that need to be fixed. First was early on when they were at a barbecue. Jury mentioned that "everyone was there, even Stephan and Harley." Then in the next sentence it said that he heard a car and Stephan and Harley walked out of the house. Another Oops was a description of Hailey being Maverick's little sister. It should have been Maddox's little sister. I also got confused because the author switched between nephew and cousin when describing Maddox in relation to Jury a few times. I understand that they feel more like cousins because of their closeness in age but it got confusing. I would strongly suggest reading the other three books first

Abby and Jury. You probably need to read the book before in this series to understand why they start off so rocky. But either way you will get the idea. I liked their story much better than Maddox and Bethany. And I had been looking forward to seeing who she plopped Madd with.
Anyhoo-there is misunderstanding from previous book and pretty early on, time spent apart. Jury’s dragon is pissed at him for not finding her and so eventually he has to try and get to know Abby. I know that makes zero sense but i dont want to give too much away.
Jury does a good amount of groveling. So don’t let the start bother you. And everyone finally sees Abby for the sweet person she is.

Jury & Abby bk4 black claw dragons

Abby is Harleys sister, we met Abby in Harley & Stefan story bk3.

Abby was tricked by their father to give him information on Stefan but there was no way she would betray her family on purpose.

Jury didn't see it that way. Harley was hurt by her actions so wen Nxy told Jury she was their mate he was not happy!!

Nxy isn't happy, Jury isn't happy and Abby isn't happy.
But as time goes on only a week or so but they get to know each other. Ideas get tweaked realisms are changed and challenged for the better.

Reading bk4 it feels like a younger character I know Jury's supposed to be 22 but he's young in his ways

Enjoyed all the books so far

Jury might be the youngest of the Kingston Dragon Brothers but he loves just as much. Abby is Harley's half sister who grows up without her father and then her father shows up and she want's to make him proud. It seemed that no matter what her father asked her to do she did it without asking him why. Abby feels lonely, unwanted and unloved. This was a great story with action, steam, emotion, and suspense. Jury's knows that Abby is his mate but he feels like she betrayed him and hurt the people that he loves. Will he be able to put that behind him and love Abby like he should? If at first, you don't succeed try to infinity! Jury has what he finds to be a misconception of Abby's personality. His dragon, Nyx refuses to make an appearance until Jury gets to know Abby. Abby is still grieving about the death of her dad and his attempt to cause harm. Nyx is unconditionally attached to Abby. Will Abby accept Nyx? Can Jury put aside his preconceived notions and get to know Abby? Good story. Abby and Jury are just young and need to grow. Good character development. Good theme. A bit of bit of excitement with Rico and Maddox. Nicely done. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m loving this series and this is book 4 in the Black Claw Dragons and this is Jury’s and Abby’s story. Abby walked into the bar she overheard Jury saying how could he have a bitch like her as a mate so Abby took off she packed her bags and left Jury’s parents house where she was staying. Jury couldn’t understand why he had to have a mate like Abby she had set her own sister up she is a spoiled brat and she’s very mean but Nix Jury’s dragon kept giving him a hard time about hating Abby so much so that Nix refused to shift. I’m not going to get too much into this story but I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Good Series

This is a great KU series came across the first book on Facebook as a sponsored blurb and decided to give it a go and I have liked it over all it is slightly different than the usual take but still good.

Sadly there have been a few inconsistent facts throughout the series. In one book Stefan is described as a Alpha then in the next he is Beta. In this book we have the family dynamics confused and the relationship of Jury and Maddox is described as Cousins when they are uncle and nephew. There are a few other little things and I know it seems like I am being pedantic but it’s the little things.
