Arryn has been through more in her short life than most, and it's finally caught up to her. She has been through hell and came through victorious every time - but there was a cost.
One she never saw coming.
When she and Corrine go into battle together, and Arryn nearly loses the person who means the most to her, she realizes just how foolish and cocky she's been. There are risks to every action, and her overconfidence nearly lost her everything. With that weight on her shoulders, the stress of being in a new land, and now facing down the biggest fight of her life... All the things Arryn has suppressed for too long have caught up to her.
Kemet has more than the Skrima to worry about. Arryn must find her strength to be the ass-kicking Arcadian Druid Warrior all her friends count on.
They're not the only ones counting on her. Someone has been watching, and she has some big shoes to fill.
She just doesn't know it yet.

I can't believe that I've just finished book eight of this series - with only one more to go, according to Candy Crum - and that makes me sad, because I've really loved this series with its large selection of different magic!
This book was, as is usual for Candy, a wonderful mix of battles, travel, hardship, joy, exploration, fun, and a line of teasing that had me cracking up!
I love that our Hero, Arryn, is shown for her strengths and her weaknesses, and that she's had to struggle to get where she is, both in the travelling itself, and her journey into learning more about herself, and what she's capable of.
I also love that, despite her youth, she was more than willing to adopt Corrine, and that the two of them have built up such a close relationship so quickly.
Arryn is great at gathering people to her, as Cathillian has shown throughout the whole series, and I love their joking with each other, as just one more way to show their love.
I was really surprised at the visitors who appeared at the end, too, but was so glad to have them in the story - I've missed them! Lol
So, yet another book that I found almost impossible to put down has been finished, and so I looked at my reading list, and realised just how few books there are, within the Kurtherian Universe, that I have to read now - and I felt like crying!
But - and it's a big BUT - I have hundreds of books on my Kindle, from all of the authors that I've been reading in TKU, and with series upon series of other worlds, and characters, and mysteries, and magic so, although I'll probably be finished with this awesome Universe within a week, I know that I've got so many other stories sitting there patiently, waiting for me to read them!
Until then, my list tells me that book nine of Rise of Magic: Selyrian Conspiracy , is my next port of call, so I'll be off, now, and I'll see you on the flip side, to let you know what I thought of it! ❤️
I was scared to read this after a two year ago in books, what if the tone changed, what if it wasn't as good as the other seven? My fears were totally unnecessary. It was fantastic!!!! Arryn was snarky and fun and perfectly herself, all the other characters were like family finally coming home. Candy, I loved it. The fact that you overcame so much to get us this book made it that much better. Can't wait for number nine.
It’s been a long wait for this since the last book was published, but it was worth it.
So many fights and an evil new enemy, but also new friends and allies are found along the way. Arryn goes through a trial of her own, however not on her own.
I greatly enjoy the solid friendships, loyalty, and inherent goodness of the main characters. Another great novel, and I’m looking forward to the next. Hopefully not so a long a wait.
This is a good series and I am very glad to have it back after a couple years hiatus. The story picked up right were it left off and was just as good as the rest of the series. It has a great mix of of fantasy characters including druids, rearicks (dwarfes), and magic users. The storyline is really well written, along with the characters, and there is a lot of action and humor. Cannot wait for the next book.
Pro tip- make sure you have read the original age of magic series with Hannah all the way through or you won’t enjoy parts of this book quite as much. Sorry, I can’t give away any more. Anyway, great characters, links to the storm callers series, and so forth. Another enjoyable read and now I really really really want the next book just so I can follow the training Arryn is about to go through.
Congratulations to Candy on her health, kids aspirations and for this wonderful book. Two years was a long time but it picked up where the last left off and went full steam ahead. Lots of snark, ass-kicking and finding new friends and enemies. I look forward to the next book!
The stories just keep getting better. I have to admit I was getting a bit bored with the Arcadian Valley and have been very curious as to what is going on in the rest of the world. And here it comes along with more laughter and tears, as with every good story. I’m chomping at the bit!
I'm thrilled that slowly the characters from the various series are beginning to come together to save Irth. Aryyn's story is just starting it looks like. I'm very appreciative of all the authors involved in the AofM and taking care of characters I've come to love. I know you will love any of the books but it's fun to follow the timeline in lmpbn.com. Enjoy!
Candy never one to disappoint has done it again . Action, adventure and just the right amount emotion in between.. set aside some time as you wont put down until its over
It was an all right story. It seems like it was trying to get there but just had a lots of almost there. Just as it was getting exciting it would jump somewhere else. But I love the Age of Magic books so will buy the next one.
Lots of excitement and new characters in this one. Arryn and her team are in for some serious fights and not a few surprises. Looking forward to the next book.
Really enjoyed the series and glad you'll be expanding
I enjoyed the series but seamed to drag on this last book. I know the next will hopefully more that just fighting. There's a lot more to life. Need to expand on Aaron and Cathillian relationship
I took a chance to read your stories because of Michael Anderle. I don't regret it. You are a good storyteller and I love how you weave your themes with your values.
