When Charlotte decides to uproot her life and move to Nashville, she leaves behind her controlling and privileged parents to start her career in the music industry, or so she thinks. In a desperate attempt to pay the bills, she reluctantly takes a job as a serving wench in a Renaissance-themed dinner theater at the advice of her newfound friends, Jade and Tyler. During Charlotte’s horrible start to work, the red knight, Lincoln Miller, is literally thrown into her life. Jousting, risqué parties, and flirtatious knights have Charlotte questioning, is chivalry dead?
Lincoln Miller, an aspiring writer by day and sexy knight by, well, night. When his job entails horse riding, jousting, and flaunting his strength to an audience, getting any woman he wants is easy. But, the Renaissance theme starts to get old for Linc, when ex-girlfriend and princess actress, Lindsey, tries to rule not only Linc’s kingdom but also any peasant around her. His unfinished novel is collecting dust and piled with distractions. It isn’t until he meets Charlotte Bradford that his life finally comes out of the dark ages.
Wow! Let me start off by saying I’ve never heard of this author, or I should say group of authors, I think I remember there’s 3 of them that worked together on this book, and I dove in blind without reading the blurb and I was seriously impressed!! The writing in this book was complete perfection. Everything flowed so so well.
It’s starts off with Charlotte, a girl who comes from a rich family. She couldn’t take her mothers constant disapproval and disappointment in her for everything she did. Her mom is one of those rich women that look down on everyone and believes she’s better than even her own children.
Charlotte leaves her home of the rich life in Chicago to run to Nashville to try to make something of her musical talent. “I’d rather be broke and alone then be my mom’s porcelain doll, stuck in her proverbial china cabinet”. She meets Tyler and Jade who are AMAZING friends!!! Tyler is gay, handsome, smart and funny! His parents disowned him for being gay. Jade comes from a free-spirit, hippie-like family and is close to her parents. Everyone needs friends like them!! They welcomed her with open arms.
She gets a job at a Renaissance-era Castle as a wench thanks to Tyler and Jade. Her first day is a crazy mess but she slowly starts to get the hang of it. This is where she meets her knight in shining armor... literally. Linc is one of the Knights for the Renaissance show. The red knight and the leading man. He saves her from being run over by a horse. That’s where the crush between the two gets heavy. But they have someone trying to stand in their way.
Lindsey is a rotten girl that thinks she’s better than everyone. She’s the princess in this castle and she acts like a spoiled brat.
The drama here is heart breaking for so many friends in this group. But the HEA was AMAZING! I loved every minute of this book and I will read the next book this group of authors comes up with next.
I received a ARC from Goodreads New Adult book club for honest review.
3.5STARS!!!
The beginning part of the story was a little slow but as the story picked up it became more interesting. The story has a unique setting and I love the characters, the friendship they share.
Charlotte belongs to a rich family and is tired of satisfying her mother, so she runs away from her home in Chicago to Nashville to make a career for herself in music and meanwhile to support herself she takes a job as a wrench at the castle with the help of her friends. The whole Renaissance theme of the castle was very different and refreshing. The friendship between Tyler, Jade and Charlotte is to die for!! They are so supportive of each other and have each other's back all the time.
Linc is the Red knight of the Renaissance show at the castle. He is very popular and is also an aspiring writer. Linc saves charlotte on her first day at work and they both have hots with each other. Then comes the devil Lindsey, she is one of those people who thinks she is the best but in reality she stands nowhere near the best. Linc and Lindsey have had a on and off relationship but since the past year they have tried to be only friends but when Charlotte comes in the picture Lindsey becomes all jealous and tries to create problems between them
I loved the flirting stage between linc and Charlotte, they are too cute together.
I would definitely love to read the next book in the series and I hope it's about Gabe and Jade because they were so fun to read in this book and I can't wait to read a whole book on them.
A great discovery! I have had a good time reading this book. The story can be summed up as a girls meets boy, they both like each other but it takes a while before anything happens between them, they start dating, they fall in love, problems arise and they break up and then get back together. But what really makes this story great are the characters, they are GREAT.
LINC: he is red Knight. He is funny, handsome, a good friend and a supportive son and brother. He is in a on and off relationship with Lindsey. He meets Charlotte in the most romantic way, he saves her for be trampled by a horse😍, and since that first moment he is captivated by her and immediately does what he can to find more about her, especially through Jade.
CHARLOTTE: she just moved to Nashville fleeing from her parents, especially her mother who does nothing but criticize everything she does, pursuing her dream of dedicating herself to music. She gets a job at the castle thanks to Jade. Her personality makes people want to be around her, including Linc. She is adorable, very funny although she carries the burden of not feeling good enough ( her mother’s fault), which will cause her to have problems with Linc in the future.
JADE: Linc’s and Charlotte’s best friend. She is the one who gets Linc a job at the castle and also the one who introduces him to her childhood friend Lindsay, but after their first breakup she takes up Linc’s side, partly bc she feels guilty for introducing him to such a harpy. When she meets Charlotte they immediately connect and, although she loves Linc, she tends to protect Charlotte more, especially when they fight. Her continuos confrontations with Gabe make me curious to know what happened and what will happen between them in the future.
TYLER: my favorite. Incredible loyal and protective of his friends, especially Jade and Charlotte. He is gay and has problems with his mother accepting his condition. He loves gossip, wine and good cheese😂. My 💔when his relationship with his lover doesn’t come to fruition, although knowing that his grandmother accepts him and loves him just the way he is is a great relief for him.
GABE: manwhore, no filter, but very good friend to Linc. Whenever he can, he tries to piss off Jade, especially fucking girls in her face. The truth is that he treats woman very poorly after he is done with them. I’m dying to see him in the future falling to his knees for one.
LINDSAY: a real bitch. After her relationship with Linc ended they only end up sleeping together when Linc is very drunk, but when he meets Charlotte, he loses all interest in her, which makes her try by all means to get him back, getting to do really despicable things.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the book. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the characters. I want more of this series,PLEASE.
Don't give up on this book too soon! I started this book once and didn't get into it. However once I started it the second time and got past the first few pages I was hooked. I really don't know why I wasn't pulled in from the start but I didn't give up and I am glad I continued. Charlotte and Linc are from two different lifestyles but are still drawn to each other. I loved how the author made us as readers see the diversity in the staff at the castle. It is refreshing how even though they are all so very different, they are able to see through labels and just be friends. They stand by each other regardless of any labels that might be placed on another. Charlotte and Linc pushed through adversities to find love. Love knows no bounds or limits. Their love was able to supersede all that came against it. Though it started slow once I pushed past that, the book was a great read. I would recommend this one to others!
Overall, I really enjoyed the book because of the characters. The man character - Charlotte is relatable and funny. She has anxiety and nerves but still attracts people to her naturally because she is a positive and kind-hearted person, aka ver likeable. The male main character of Linc is interesting. I think if the book chapters didn't flip between points of view, I would have liked him more from Charlotte's point of view or third person. I wasn't crazy about how sexual and purely physical his thoughts were to her, but those moments and thoughts could be very relatable to another reader! I really liked their relationship and their sole building up of crushes to love was very believable.
All the side characters were fun and well thought out. My favorite banter was always between charlotte and her friends: Jade and Tyler.
(received book in exchange for a review) The setting of all the characters working at a suped-up medieval times was really creative and refreshing.
I would recommend this book if they are interested in a fun contemporary romance, where all the characters have fun interests and dreams but are all working at a medieval themed show and dinner !
I received a free ARC from Goodreads New Adult Book Club more the promise of an honest review.
It was okay. It took my a while to get into this book but it was good.
Charlotte recently moved to Nashville from Chicago to escape her overbearing mother and pursue her interest in the music industry. Until she makes her break in the music industry, she takes a job at a medieval restaurant where is meets Linc. Linc plays the Red Knight in the jousting contest. Linc actually saves Charlotte from being trampled by a horse. The attraction is instant. The individuals that work at the restaurant are like a small family. Jealous from Linc's previous girlfriend causes friction in Charlottw and Linc's relationship.
Jousted is a romance book with a little spice that chronicles the adventures of a bunch of employees at Medieval Times, I mean not Medieval Times…The characters are likable and you care what is going on with them. This is a fun and easy read that will have you chuckling and simultaneously thinking, um maybe I should think twice about eating off the surfaces at MT lol. 🤣
