This is another different and absorbing novel, featuring DI Mike Nash and the team. This time Mike becomes involved with an artist in Madrid. Why is someone trying to kill her? What is the significance of a painting of a north Yorkshire landscape near to his new home in the countryside?

When her father is murdered and their farmhouse torched, it’s clear she’s not safe in Spain. Mike brings her back to Helmdale for safety as he starts to piece together her past to understand why someone wants her dead. But who are the killers pursuing her? Why? What do they want?

Snowed in as Christmas approaches, she feels safe. But she hasn’t anticipated the tenacity of those pursuing her. Even Mike isn’t prepared for what his investigation will uncover.

Once again, the author deals with an intriguing theme to create a mystery and a thriller that slowly builds and gains momentum as the investigation progresses. All the familiar characters are here as the story thunders towards a dramatic climax and a moving wrap up.

If you like your police procedurals to tackle themes that are big and a little different, this series will take you on an exciting ride. The characters are memorable, the plots convoluted, and the stories told with panache and humour.

First rate.

Hide & Seek is book nine in the DI Mike Nash series by Bill Kitson. Detective Viv Peace organised his stag weekend in Madrid, and while DI Mike Nash was there, he became involved in stopping an attack on a young woman. Realising that she is in danger if she stays in Spain, the young woman comes looking for Detective Mike Nash for help. For Detective Mike Nash, getting involved in this case will affect Mike and his son's life forever. The readers of Hide & Seek will continue to follow Detective Inspector Mike Nash's investigation to discover what happens.

I love reading books in this series, and Hide and Seek did not disappoint. I engaged with the plot of Hide and Seek, and at times, I had to cry with how Bill portrayed his characters. I love Bill Kitson's portrayal of his characters and their interaction with each other. Hide and Seek was well-written and researched by Bill Kitson. I like Bill Kitson's description of the settings of Hide and Seek, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

The readers of Hide and Seek will learn about the devastation for parents when someone kidnaps their child. Also, the readers of Hide and Seek will learn about the consequences of jealousy between family members.

I recommend this book.

Not as it seems.

Daniel finds a house for Mike & himself, father & son working together painting.
Mike gets a letter addressed to the occupier, regarding a painting showing the view from the house. The sender is an up and coming artist, Alondra Torres.
Viv Pearce is getting married and is looking for somewhere in Europe to hold his stag do. Decided on Madrid in August as it's cheaper than just before next Easter when he goes the knot.
Mike gets in contact with Alondra 're the painting, she lives in Madrid & they agree to meet up during the stag weekend. Twice someone tried to kill her, her father has recently been murdered & the painting gets stolen, when the assassin attempts to burn down her home.
Then you throw in a child kidnapping 25years previously, professional criminals notorious across Europe at the time, three brothers and a supermodel. The web is woven between the above, orchestrated by a scientist - definitely mad -with clone ambitions and his personal thug / hitman.
Definitely readable, damned clever & Mike ends up without the girl!

Great Read

This book is unputdownable. A crime thriller that has you sitting on the edge of your seat.
Detective Mike Nash falls hopelessly in love with a young woman that someone is out to kill. Daniel, Mike's son, also has a fondness for Alondra and hoped she would be his new mummy. As per usual, the relationship between Mike and Alondra , through no fault of their own, comes to an end---or, has it?
Who wants to kill Alondra? And why? How many have to die before the truth is revealed?
Look forward to reading Book 10. (Once it's published).

Not the End!

Please don’t let this be the end of the DI Nash series. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters and their personal lives so much, I don’t want to say goodbye! Hide and Seek was an incredible book from start to finish. Twists and turns right to the bitter end. Bill, you really have to write more Mike Nash books. Your readers need them. They’re brilliant!

Another Brilliant Book

Another great story by Bill Judson featuring Detective Mike Nash and his team. The story moved at such a fast pace that I was unable to put it down .The only thing that stopped me reading it in one session was that my kindle ran out of power. More of the same please.

This is the great

I am so lost for words at the end of this book so that being said is the example of how great this book was. I really enjoyed the suspense and mystery with the slight touch of romance. I can't wait to start the next book.

There is always a story behind the artwork

Thwarting the criminals at every turn would have been easy. You knew who they are, Why they want to kill you is another subject. Live your life in secrecy, only to find out you are not who you thought you had become.

A beautiful damsel in distress, an unsolved murder case, just a day in the life of Inspector Nash and his team.

Another intrueging plot from Bill Kitson in the Inspector Nash series. This time it becomes very personal for Mike Nash.

Extremely complex and unlikely plot that produces an absorbing read that maintains your interest until the very end. As the Nash series progresses the cases become more and more unusual and very difficult for the reader to anticipate what will happen or at least not correctly until he goes into one of his trances and explains all at the end.

Well written, good plot. At last Mike Nash has met someone he really cares about, only to have happiness snatched back at the last minute. When will he ever get a dose of good luck and be happy?

A pretty good, readable story, but I've only given it 3 stars because of the cliches, and wild assumptions that turn out to be correct! I did enjoy it though.

I do enjoy a creative storyline and this was a worthy storytelling by author Bill Kitson. The ending became a surprising finish to this crime thriller.

Change or pace

What a great story. While Nash has had some flings, this one is a tough one. Really enjoyed the story. Plenty of suspense.

A good read, but the mystery becomes solvable early on. The resolution is well done, and the characters are all interesting. I will try some of his other books as this was the first one I have read.

Another good story from Bill Kitson one which takes a bit of working out who the person is behind all that goes on. I did not like how the book ended I feel it should have worked out better for Nash
