Alien Paladin's Redemption

Rate this book
She knew aliens existed. She didn’t expect them to be so damn HOT!

Indra has survived the worse human society can throw at her.
Being rescued by aliens was the last thing she expected.

Now a guest of the Latharian empire, she’s looking forward to eating her bodyweight in chocolate cake and creating her very own army out of the ship’s cleaning bots. What she didn’t expect was a stuffed-shirt paladin of a second officer, or the fact she’d find his freaky level of control so fascinating and sexy.

Sent on a ‘road trip’ to recover an experimental artificial intelligence unit, she’s stuck in a shuttle with her by the book, alien warrior. Determined to get under his skin, she discovers that beneath all that controlled restraint, her alien paladin is the sexiest alpha hero…

Can she play the game, without losing her heart? Or will she succumb to the passion of her alien paladin?

He seeks redemption for his sins. Love and a mate are not on the cards . . .

An atoned warrior with the scars of his shame marked in his skin, Nyek S’Vaan doesn’t expect to be anything more than a garrison officer somewhere in the outer reaches. Until a surprise assignment and promotion on the empire’s newest war cruiser, brings him in contact with rare human females.

They are as fascinating as they are beautiful, even if one, Indra, drives him to distraction. When she is almost killed aboard, desperate measures are called for. A top-secret mission gets the humans away from the ship -- but then puts them in danger from pirates.

When Indra is taken, Nyek must face the shame of his past. He must face his demons and be prepared to kill to bring back the woman he loves, even if it means sacrificing himself in the process . . .

I absolutely love the Lathar warriors. I have not yet found a story in this series that I haven’t enjoyed. This one is just as good, continuing the fantastic underlying storyline. Usually I have trouble staying interested in series with as many books as this one does, but the fact that I still look forward to reading the next book is a testament to how good this series is.

Alien Paladin’s Redemption is book thirteen in the Warriors of the Lathar series by Mina Carter.

I enjoy the Lathar warriors and the world Ms. Carter has created in this series.

We first meet Indra in “Rescued by her Alien Protector”. She is a survivor. She’s also snarky, tough, and doesn’t see herself as mate material.

A man tortured by his past, expecting nothing, but loneliness. Nyek, is lower than dirt in the eyes of the Lathar warriors and has paid a high price. He doesn’t see himself being blessed with a female of his own to cherish.

These two will discover a secret that will rock the empire to its core and along the way they’ll grow closer together and find love.

Alien Paladin’s Redemption gives us action, suspense, adventure, survival, romance, and drama. If your looking for an entertaining Sci-Fi Alien Romance then I recommend picking up the Warriors of the Lathar series. It’s got it all.

💢Fan-Alien-Tastic there is everything in this mind blowing book - Adventure, Survival, Fear, Suspense, Action Packed, Loyalty, Hate, Love, so much Drama, Sacrifice, Wowzer!
🔹️Nyek S’Vaan is Alien who worships the Lady Liaanas. He is a Vesh which leave him marked with deep scars. The ritual scars of atonement (basically a death sentence unless you survive).. Wow wait till you find out what he did to deserve this punishment. So when everyone sees these scars they know he is a bad person. But Nyek is used to the nasty looks and ignores them. Until out of no where he is assigned to Izal’vias was a war cruiser, he has been given a new chance for his life and he will prove himself. Nyek worshipped the lady every minute of everyday but when he meets Indra who was one of the females that were rescued and boy is she smart and sassy, Nyek body responds. When Indra looked at Nyek her first impression was – he was like looking at a long, tall drink of water, it a pity he’s cold and unemotional…”
☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books.

Indra was first introduced in "Rescued by her Alien Protector". She is a tough as leather snarky woman with a past of gang association that no one should have had to experience. In her own words she's a shrew, not mate material and can't even cook. As for Nyek, the lower than dirt in the eyes of the other Larthanian warriors, he has paid high price of atonement to his Goddess, Lady Liaanas in the name of honor. From their first meeting neither holds a high opinion of the other. In Indra's mind Nyek hasn't a humorous bone in his body, he's too ridge, and in Indra's own often quoted words Nyek has the proverbial "stick stuck up (you know where).
Nyek's idea of Indra is just as harsh as is her personality and mannerisms, though unlike other alien females he recognized Indra as Lathar. Their coming together had surprises for both. The reader will just have to find out for themselves what I enjoyed discovering.
True to Ms. Carter's writing style this is full of laughter, high emotions, familiar danger, violence, warranted death and a great addition to this series. I was grateful to receive an ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

My Obsession

I have to admit to being obsessed with the Warriors of the Lathar series by Mina Carter. I was so happy when this newest book downloaded on my kindle!! I immediately had to immerse myself in the book. I grabbed my kindle and a caffeinated beverage and got down to it!! It was awesome!! I really could not put it down and I read it straight through in one sitting. You have Indira and Nyek as your main characters. Nyek is a warrior that is reviled for being atoned. He lives his life very piously and is not liked. Indira was saved from a horrible life by the Lathar and is enjoying her new life on board a Lathar war cruiser. When Nyek is promoted to the very same war cruiser they butt heads but also light sparks off of one another. They get sent on a mission together and chaos ensues. I loved this book and these characters. There was an emotional and physical connection that you could feel and the adventure took off at a fast pace and never slowed down. I recommend this book!!

Nyek S’Vaan was used to the rejection and loneliness that made him expect nothing good for him. But the human woman was challenging and tempting, confusing his feelings and emotions. Indra wanted her freedom and independence. She had saw enough and don’t wanted any commitment. But surprise, surprise, the Lathar warrior was intense in mind, spirit and body. Indra learned it in every way. A dangerous mission together, threats from the past and a new discovery was all that was needed to give a twist to their lives and a new vision of the future and become Us. Liked this interesting and intriguing story that kept me guessing what was behind Nyek ‘s predicament. Amusing Indra’s character, her constant banter and Nyek’s reactions. Got my eye the AI issue. Action, suspense, a deadly threat, AI’s, violence, romance and heated passion. Love these Lathar aliens’ stories with the intense and mysterious characters.

Indra may be small and dainty compared to the Lathar but don't let that full you. She is a full-grown warrior woman and badass! The Lathar men are about to get a shock to the system!

Nyek has been summoned from the far reaches of the Latharian empire and assumes he's about to receive more punishment. Astonishingly he's made 2nd in command and now has to get a shipful of Lathat to see him as worthy of command. His scars are visible and everyone knows what he went through, but will that be enough to cement his place?

Nyek has some VERY old-school ideas and I loved watching Indra rip them apart and mould him into the bad-ass Alpha but with a healthy admiration for female warriors from Earth. I was happy to learn of the way he distances himself from his odious family, after all, you can't choose the family you are born into but you can CHOOSE the family you want to have. Brilliant as usual.

Mina you did it again!

Nyet and Indra another great addition to this series! Nyet is a disgraced warrior, not by deeds but by circumstances, and is just looking for acceptance. He believes he is not good enough to have a mate , ever.
Indra is a street hardened woman who helped Madison escape a prison colony (this is in a previous book) and is on the same ship as Nyet. From the first meeting of these two sparks fly and chemistry abounds. So much fun in store for these two.
As usual the story line is excellent and leads to future stories and some unanswered questions, but relax no cliffhangers. LoL.
If you have not read this series please do yourself a favour and go to the beginning, I envy you as you are in for hours of enjoyment. Happy Times! What the heck, I think I’ll join you. Oh don’t forget the Wine.

Indra isn't looking for a mate. She never expected her freedom and intends to continue enjoying it. And then she meets Nyek. I really enjoyed Nyek. He is misunderstood but oh so honorable. I loved seeing him find his center. He never expected much so finding his station much improved he wasn't sure it could be trusted. And then there is Indra. She isn't sure what to think about Nyek but she knows she likes getting under his skin. I enjoyed seeing Indra and Nyek find their way. This is a wonderful addition to this series and I look forward to where Ms. Carter will take us next.

Another Great Lathar story!
The world building is truly believable. A man tortured by his past. Expecting nothing but a life of degradation and loneliness, certainly not the blessing of a female to cherish from afar.
Indra spent her life on the streets, kill or be killed. Then she was sent to a prison planet to die. She only grew stronger. She definitely doesn't need a male, especially not a prim, prude like Nyek.
An assassin's blade throws them together, but can it be anything more?
Can I preorder the next book yet Ms Carter?

Awesome characters- intriguing story

An alien warrior dedicating his life to a goddess. A scrappy former gang member. A pirate ship holding a host of nasty fanatics. A secret so deep the empire will he rocked to its core. This story is brilliantly written with great characters, sexy and steamy themes, and a fast paced, high voltage plot! Love this series. Although this story concludes with a great wrap up, there are many questions that are left for the next story to answer.

VESH! What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger and deadlier. Indra is serious street fighter dangerous. She is the perfect match for Nyek. Nyek’s background was fascinating and emotional. I loved both Indra and Nyek separately. This book definitely took the Lathar in a little bit of a different direction and yet managed to fill in a number of the gaps between humans and the Lathar. Together, with Indra and Nyek, the appeal and action was awesome and I couldn’t
put their story down.

This book has it all thrilling action, intriguing Sci-fi technology, and heartwarming romance amid a fanaticism and bigotry backdrop. But Nyek and Indra also make the story fun and sexy. Indra’s sense of humor is wry yet hits the mark and Nyek is the perfect straight guy. Secrets are revealed baddies are confronted its a wild ride and great read.

This book out shines all the others in the series. While it continues the Lathar storyline.  The heart of this book is accepting who you are, not what others think you are. Indra and Nyek are so real they jump off the page.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting Indra’s story since reading Rescued by her Alien Protector.
Indra is the a fire breathing hellion and hot damn Nyek is something else entirely!
I found this story slightly more blood thirsty than others (but that’s just my opinion and I have no problem with this).
Mina has done a fantastic job.
I received an ARC and the above is my honest review.

Wow...another one for Ms. Carter i love this book. The fanatic, i had to remember who and read the previous book to remember who is who.

A real redemption book. The process was extreme, but given the nature of the person, it was fitting.

I look forward to the book in this Universe.

P.S. Amazon hates me, so i hope this review will do.

Indra was the other human female on the prison planet with Madison Cole, who helped her escape. She's pretty bad ass, take no bullshit and can't stand a formal, stick up his ass commander such as Nyet S'Vaan. He's just been promoted to second in command to War Commander Laarn, which is surprising considering he's Vesh and from a traditionalist family. Nyet has dedicated himself to the goddess Liaanas (sp?) and has no interest in a mating or a human female...except Indra tempts him beyond belief. When the emepror sends them out on a mission to locate an AI that has information about the missing genome that leave the Lathar vulnerable, they have a chance to get to know each other and to explore their sexual attraction. But Indra doesn't really want to be tied down...at least not in the commitment sense. Nyet still doesn't believe he's worthy of a mating, being Vesh and all.

No idea what Vesh means? That's okay, it wasn't explained super well in the book either. Something about offering up his life (committing suicide) for the goddess to be purged of his sins and her deciding to allow him to live. But he lives with the scars and is forever looked down upon. Except it's not really clear why Nyet became Vesh, except to separate himself from his family...but wouldn't there be an easier way to go about that? And why would everyone look down on him if he's chosen to distance himself from his sinful past in this way? Nor did this really have any bearing on his relationship with Indra, as we don't really delve into Nyet's past, nor does he talk about his experience, so probably have the same story without it. I'd honestly expected him to have major issues with self-worth and for that to play a bigger role as an obstacle to their HEA. Not so much.

The storyline here is pretty good. They have a pretty interesting adventure once they get off the main ship and the story moves pretty quickly from there. The ensemble cast worked well and Nyet was set up to be a really sympathetic character from the get go. I had high hopes for him as a character, but I was a little let down. He didn't end up using any of that sympathetic draw to his advantage through the story, and Indra never really saw how sad things were for him. I enjoyed the fact that Indra was an independent, take no nonsense kinda gal and that Nyet didn't really seek to change that about her. Their romance was sexy, but kinda lacking in the "love" department. Their first time together and HIS first time ever was completely devoid of emotion, which was still hot, but kind of disappointing (side note: for me, virgin heroes are only really exciting if they read like actual virgins...virgin experts might as well not be virgins at all). Even later into it, it never really felt like they'd fallen in love...not until the end there when Nyet asks her to claim him (which effectively dashed that misogynistic streak he was showing there in the beginning). I did like this one, but it wasn't my favorite of this series. I love the ones where you can feel the emotions between the characters and you can see their love growing. This had the set up for it, but I wasn't feeling it...not like with Madison and Laarn or that one couple that fought the Krin.

Nyek has survived the trial of judgment in the temple of the goddess and has the scars to show for it and because he was spared he has pledged himself to her service. He is a pariah to the other Lathar warriors some who look upon him with disdain. He has worked hard wherever he has been sent and in most instances has been 2nd in command. He has been ordered to another position this time aboard a warship and has been promoted to second in command much to his surprise. Finally he may get the chance to die in battle against the enemies of the Empire . Indra a human who was rescued with Vice President Madison Cole from the prison planet Mirax Ruas is a formidable fighter and is always trying to add more moves to her fighting style by training with the Lathar warriors . War Commander Danaar K'Vass is not happy to have Nyek as his second in command but really has no choice as the emperor considered him for the position. Nyek is shocked to find human women aboard who look so similar to the Lathar. He is exceptionally attracted to Indra , but considers her to bold in her speech. Indra herself finds him to formal but still very good looking. Daaynal the emperor has a special mission for Nyex who has come from a purist background but is a traditionalist unlike the rest of his clan and gets his oath as a paladin of the goddess to protect the human women on the ship with his life if he has too.. Daaynal is sending Nyex to Rivaas Sector to find his flyer and retrieve the AI on board it has scientific research which may help them finally eradicate the plague that destroyed most of the Lathar females. Nyek is about to find out not all human women want or need to be protected, Indra will make sure of that. Love this series. So happy Mina Carter gave me a review copy. I am also a verified purchase.

Alien Paladin’s Redemption is the thirteenth book in the Warriors of the Lathar series, and while this romance stands alone, I’d suggest reading some of the previous books to get a better understanding of terms and previous relationships. Nyek is a warrior, a Vesh, and now on a mission to keep the humans safe as well as retrieving information. Indra is suddenly part of this adventure, jaded from her own past, but the connection between them is strong. Will they be able to convince one another that taking a chance on love is worth it while keeping each other alive?

What an interesting and action packed book! Between an opposites-attract vibe of the story, with budding romance, strong attraction, dangerous cults, and prophecies, I was reading this book on the edge of my seat! Indra was dangerous, one to hold her own and always protect herself, but I loved seeing her vulnerable side. She has so much strength and I loved it when she used humor and attitude. Her quiet moments were what endeared me to her, though. Nyek was kind of intimidating at first, one to follow the rules, but also knowing if he didn’t, there would be harsh consequences due to his status. I loved his dedication, his drive, and his softer sides that he only showed to Indra. Their relationship was not quite enemies to lovers, but they had some major differences they needed to workout before they could find acceptance and love. This book was so exciting to read! There were so many twists and turns and things I never saw coming, and I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish the last page! I loved getting to know both of these characters through the pages, cheering on their love, and I’m already excited to read more in this series to get more information about what all is going on! So good!

I really enjoyed this story! I loved coming back to the Lathar and delving back into their world. We know our heroine, Indra from the previous book in the series. This can be read as a stand alone for the most part, but if you have read the previous books in the series you will definitely pick up on more items and get more out of the book as there are things that connect back to what happened previously. Our hero Nyek is new to the series. I really enjoyed getting to know him throughout this book. We get to see more of the culture that has been created for the Lathar and from a different viewpoint than in previous books. I liked getting to see the interactions between Indra and Nyek. Indra is no wilting flower and has a very sharp tongue. Nyek has no hope for a mate as he doesn't see himself as worthy but Indra and Nyek are drawn to each other. There are some twists and turns for sure in this book that I didn't see coming with the way that they are turning out. There are definitely some ends that set up the next books for the series and I can't wait for those. This story has a happy ending for our main couple as they work out their issues but their are pieces in the book that I can't wait to see how they turn out. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one!

Alien Paladin's Redemption (Warriors of the Lathar 11)

I began the series at the end. I began with the Latharian Mate Program. I saw many of these people in that book. I loved that book and when I realized Mina Carter had a whole series I needed to know how it got started.
This book was really different than the rest. The lead character that came in was from a religious group but not a purist. But they were not clear I thought as to why he had the scars all over his wrists but whatever also caused people to look at him differently. Part of Nyek's scars that people don't know come from his own father for the longest time.
People can be so hateful. Even Danaar his Commander did not want him. He found out he was basically being used so it didn't look like the Emperor always chose the same people.
He as well as a couple others were chosen to retrieve an important piece of technology. They were also in charge of human females. So they had to come too. It was a rag tag group really.
3 shuttles carrying 2 of each on both. Nyek's had Indra aboard. They spent a great deal of time getting to know each other. Intimately. Erotically.
The next part of the story is super exciting but you have to read it to find out what happens.
Will Nyek be able to save his Indra from rape and possible death?
This is a MUST READ for certain!

Very enjoyable and entertaining and going in a diverse direction.
Nice to have Indra from book 11 get her HEA with such a special Latharian in Nyek.
Lots going on and two other couples mixed into this book in such a way, they will obviously get their stories following straight on from this book, to finish the direction of this plot. Cannot wait.
Indra, though tough and likeable, at times came across as mean and taunting, not respecting the Lathar culture and their ways.
Nyek, what a character. Still not 100% sure what the VESH is but if it is what I seem to think it is, Nyek is more than worthy of surviving. Good twist with his family dynamics and how Nyek dealt with them.
Once again this author is going in a direction I didn’t see coming, keeping things fresh and enjoyable.
Plot background is getting deep, a bit sci-fi freaky, had goose-bumps with the movie references.
Interesting with what is happening with first Daaynal the Emperor, ( I am sure he is way more than we see) and his plotting and now the dead twin sister Miisan and the Cabal.
Not sure I fully appreciated what Nyek did at the end, seemed a bit fantastical with him being torn up like that but I did love him using the Draaken Bots.
As this ends with a very minor bit of a cliff hanger re the other two couples, I am now eagerly awaiting the next books.
This is my honest review of this book.

Vesh

Vesh: trial of judgement
While Nyek may have survived this trial, it seems that he is still being judged. Only this time it is his fellow warriors not a God. Even Danaar is upset that a "Vesh" is assigned as his second. Hopefully Madison knocks some sense into Danaar! We have to go through the entire story before we find out what the judgement was over.
Then there is Indra. She had my alliance when we first met her and she took up for Madison. To say that Nyek and Indra were polar opposites would be a gross understatement. I laughed out loud every time she tried to get a rise of him.
Finally there is the actual story. This one really interweaves several stories. If you haven't read this series, there are LOTS of things that will not make sense. While the situation between Nyek and Indra is resolved, there are several sub-plots(I counted at least 4) that are left unanswered. I can only assume these will all be resolved with their own book. I can't wait!!

Nyek was Vesh and never expected anything beyond him training students. When he was promoted, he was blessed but the Commander wasn’t happy. He never expected a human woman would make him feel things. He was a warrior and paladin. He could fight this. Indra saw Nyek as pompous. He was easy to needle. She was strong and independent. When a group of them were sent on a mission, things heated up. But will his status as a Vesh cause him more problems.

I love that these two had a hard life that made them tough. Nyek, as a Lathar Warrior was always tough. What he went through in regards to the Vesh status, was hard core. You have to love Indra. She was always being bad as well as besting most of the soldiers. Her teasing pushed Nyek to the edge. I love that he finally broke but I was disappointed in him when he made a statement about one of the AI’s. Then you have misunderstands and things really got dangerous. I love these warriors. The dedication and protective nature is so comforting.

Nyek is used to being despised because he is a Vesh. He has little hopes of being promoted within the empire and is only there to serve his Goddess who saved his life. Indra is a ganger who we met with Maddison in prison. She has seen the darker underbelly of the human world and has lived to tell the tale. Now she is with the Lathar and her life is about to change even more.

Much to Nyek's surprise he is promoted but in his opinion little has changed. His commanding officer still despises him after realizing he is a Vesh. He is sent on a mission with 2 other Lathar and 3 humans to retrieve something the Emperor lost. Their lives, and the empire, are about to change forever.

I loved the intrigue and suspense in this story. Not only do you have the heat and passion between our main characters but you do not know where Mina is taking us. She has added a new twist to an already incredible world and I'm truly looking forward to where she is taking us next.

Alien Paladin’s Redemption

I’ve tried to read all of the (Warriors of the Lathar) books. I’ve loved them all, this one included. Indra and Nyet are the stars in this story. You met Indra earlier in a previous book as she became friends with Madison, the former Vice President in a previous story. They met while serving time in a horrible prison. But, I digress, Nyet is a virgin Lathar having dedicated his life to the goddess of war. Celibacy wasn’t required it was a personal choice for him. When he met the tough talking Indra he was intrigued by her but had no idea what he was actually feeling. Indra was just as intrigued by him having never had the emotions before that she felt for him. I loved the storyline and the characters. There are sexual scenes in the book. If this offends you this is not the book for you. Otherwise, I heartily recommend the story!!

I gave this book a 5 because the story had lots of action at the end. I give it a 2 for character development the heroine did things that made no sense...what was the whole cleaner bots thing about, then the taping knives on them...why??? Then there is the was Indra suppose to be a person of color because if yes, then REALLY! I shouldn't have to wonder if ethnicity was the attempt. If yes she really missed the mark and after all this time waiting for diversity in this damn series, missed the mark. I really liked Nyeks characterI just wish his dynamic could have gone on longer. Now I'm back to the ethnicity in this series...CAN WE HAVE SOME, I think it takes nerve to reduce God's creativity down to white people only. So far this series has been a whites only dinner, open up the doors or go out of business. I really hope you do before I have to stop reading your books.

Great book!

This is a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. I can see me reading it again in the future.
Nyek is a grumpy Latharian alien who is looked down upon by his fellow Lathars because of his traditionalist lifestyle. Indra grew up on Earth in the slums and became a gang member to survive. She is very tough and they clash when they first met, with her needling him to get a reaction. They eventually relented to the attraction they have for each other. Their chemistry is hot and there are some very steamy scenes. There’s lots of action with them going on a mission with 2 other couples.
New info is revealed regarding the emperor’s deceased twin sister and the AI system they were sent to retrieve. The series over arching plot became even more interesting as new things are revealed.
I recommend this book.
