After things went south with my last roommate, I'm determined to hide my little side until I graduate from college. That's not possible once Jayden learns my secret...
Being a little in the dorms isn't easy. When my first roommate found out, he freaked. With a new semester and a new roommate, I promise myself I'll keep my gear locked away.
Except at night when everyone is sleeping...
Jayden's not nearly as inclined to let me hide after he finds my binkie in the laundry. Correction, after his mom finds it.
Shoot me now.
Even though he's never considered himself to be a Caregiver, Jayden makes it his mission to help me find a daddy. Neither of us knew he'd be the best fit for the job. He's always there and he's a natural caretaker.
No matter how close we get, the D word is off-limits for him. Will he ever accept the role he's assumed in my life? Or will I start the next school year once again looking for a place to stay?
Rooming Together is the first in a new series set in the kinky town of Annandale featuring binkies, stuffies, and adorably padded backsides. It features cameo appearances from The Lodge series characters but can be read as a standalone.
I'm such a tough cookie with books these days! *cries*
This was nice, but once again I wasn't quite sold. I had such high hopes, but it wasn't long before I got a little bored.
I love low angst books. Add in some age-play or just daddy kink, and I'm a happy camper. But if it's low angst I need the characters to be interesting enough to carry the story. But that wasn't the case here. I liked how shy Chase was at first, but besides that there wasn't that much that I found interesting about him.
And Jayden started out like a sweet (college-aged) Dom at first, but somehow I felt like he had no real personality. He wanted to be the best Daddy for Chase, but besides that I never felt like his character was all that deep.
It could totally be me and not the book, so take this review with a grain of salt.
I have been looking forward to coming to Talbert Hall Quinn Ward has not disappointed.
We have been slowly getting more into the Daddy/Little world as we have been reading more Quinn Ward. And this time we go deep, deep into the world of littles.
Chase and jayden are both adorable. They are both exploring the world and bringing out the boy/daddy in each other.
We got to see some characters from previous books, and if you have read others, you will remember Jayden's uncle William. I loved the part he played in Jayden/Chase's world.
There was wonderful character development, plenty of emotions and lots of smiles. I look forward to getting back to Talbert Hall.
This was such a sweet read! I complete fell in love with Chase/Ash. Jayden was such a good human being, and turned him into the perfect Jay, and then Daddy to Ash. I’m absolutely in love with this adorable couple. All the feels! Loved it! I really really enjoyed it, and I’ll definitely keep reading this series when new books come out.
Jayden and Chase are college roommates who embark upon a tenderly sweet path to DDlb and age play. It was such a well done story of discovery and overcoming fears to embrace and accept one’s self - and Jayden’s and Chase’s reward for this was a relationship more perfect for them then they could’ve ever hoped for. ❤️
Really great book with age play. Only 2 things I didn’t like were them calling Chases dick a ‘winky’ (eww). And that it didn’t have an epilogue and ended randomly. We didn’t get any look into their future. I’m hoping we get to see them more in the other 2 books in the series.
I'm a big fan of Daddy/Little books so I've read a lot. I really enjoyed Quinn's The Lodge series so I was looking forward to new series The Boys of Talbert Hall. What I liked about Rooming Together, the first in the series, was that it was quite refreshing to not only have the daddy and the little the same age as each other but also that they are both in college. I'm not sure if I've read this dynamic before. Chase is so adorable and he's been burnt in the past by revealing his little side. Jaydon meanwhile is reluctant at first to be Chase's Daddy but he's determined to be the best for his friend. Loved seeing their relationship together develop as they settle into their roles.
Very refreshing age play book. Most of the books I've read have a 10 to 20 year age gap between the Daddy and his boy so it was interesting to read about a couple so close in age.
But Jayden was pretty responsible for his age and wanted to be the best Daddy he could be for Chase (little Ash). It was sweet that he was willing to speak with more knowledgeable Daddy Doms and fought through his unwillingness to ask for help.
For a young couple, I'm sure that they will stay together for the long term because they are so willing to work at it. And they also don't have a fantasy version of their relationship. They are pretty realistic.
"Rooming Together" is the first volume in Quinn Ward's "The Boys of Talbert Hall" series, and probably the first novel I have read with a daddy kink theme where both partners in the dynamic are so young. I would say it was an enlightening experience, especially as the story presented in "Rooming Together" largely focuses on the topic of discovering yourself, finding your way in the world of kink, learning to live in accordance with your kink preferences. It is also worth noting that due to the young age of the main characters in the novel, it is of great importance to find a balance between everyday life and kinks. This problem concerns both Jayden who is new to the world of daddy kink, and the more experienced Chase, who has been aware of his preferences for some time. Both boys have to overcome the obstacles like shame, prejudices, their own demons, to be fulfilled in their life.
I think the interesting thing about "Rooming Together" is the fact that in the case of Chase and Jayden, the more experienced person in the daddy kink dynamic is a Boy, or more precisely a Little, and therefore a person who needs be cared for, supported, who seeks someone who will guide them. Thus, it is an additional challenge for Chase, who is forced to open up to Jayden, start talking to him, and in his case it is very difficult since he has already been hurt once. I think this is how the author adds more psychological depth to the novel, because in many ways it touches on the subject of trust (trusting a Caregiver, a friend, a roommate, some other person) and courage to put trust in someone.
In my opinion it is also extremely important that in "Rooming Together" Quinn Ward focus on the topic of self-worth. The author uses our main characters to shows us this issue on their example. That's why in the book we see that after unpleasant experiences with his previous roommate, Chase has a very low self-esteem and considers himself to be strange, somewhat unnatural, while Jayden tries his best to restore Chase's self-confidence and show his friend, partner that he is someone normal, wonderful, special. I really liked this side of their dynamic.
All things considered, I think "Rooming Together" is a pretty good and really interesting novel with many advantages, many of which are deeper than we might initially think. Quinn Ward made sure that the reader gets to know the characters' souls and reading this book, following our boys can change something in themselves, in their perception of themselves and kinks. I really believe this novel is worth recommending.
__________________________
Quinn Ward zadbała o to, aby czytelnik poznał dusze bohaterów i wraz z nimi mógł zmienić coś w sobie, w swoim sposobie postrzegania siebie oraz kinków.
Rooming Together is a delicious age play tale by Quinn Ward. The first book in The Boys of Talbert Hall series, it is awesome.
This is an age play romance between two college roommates. The way their relationship develops is great, as it is natural, yet still has a lot left to be worked out between the two.
One of the things I adore is that Jayden gives Chase's little side it's own name, Ash. And I love the reasons behind this name. So much fun.
Their story includes learning how to be a daddy, and the fear of showing one's little side to anyone. It explores the fine line between a little and his grownup side. It's a story with binkies and diapers, as well as first times. It's a story with a whole lot of shame and embarrassment.
There's a lot to this story that just adds a sense of security and comfort to these men. I love that they find people they can be open with and can be true to themselves more often. I don't want to ruin anything, but read it to meet these wonderful secondary characters.
And then there's the suite mates situation. OMG. I can't get enough of this story and the ways Matt and Brandon are involved is fabulous.
My favorite part though is the author's exploration of kinks in general. I love the way it's addressed that people often will not know they are into a kink until they try it.
Damn, I just love everything about this story. It's pure fun and deliciousness! Age play is my guilty pleasure and there's something extra special to get to read a good age play romance between college roommates.
Rooming Together is an amazing age play read. This Quinn Ward gem is a must read for any fans of age play. I love every single second of it. I can't wait to see what the rest of the series contains.
Rooming Together is a wonderfully sweet Daddy/Little romance. Chase knows who he is and what he wants but has no experience or friends to confide in. Until he becomes roommates with Jayden, nephew of William from Looks Can Be Deceiving. Jayden also has no experience in the Daddy/Little kink but when he convinces Chase to go to an introduction night at The Lodge and finds himself open to the chance to explore with him. They are supportive of each other and it turns into so much more than either could have expected. I love how Jayden takes Chase's constant consent, comfort and happiness into consideration with everything that they do together and is always willing to step up to defend him when a bully comes around. Chase is just adorable as a Little and Jayden is amazingly accepting, even before he dips a toe into the kink world himself. He gets it from his mum and uncle who are so supportive and caring towards each other, wanting everyone happy and comfortable with their true selves. They also have a great couple of friends in Brandon and Matt, I'm really hoping to get their story next! Definitely a recommended read for me. Quinn has done a wonderful job in opening up this new world to the characters and seeing the possibilities that they can have together. It's also a good read for those who haven't read this trope before as you're gently eased into it along with the MC's. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the kids' series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or 'Liberty' from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times a year (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time- reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok). It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
I wanted to like this one, especially because the premise was very similar to Untouched by M.A. Innes which I loved. Unfortunately, I found this kind of boring, probably because nothing really happens. The book is very low conflict and more focused on Chase and Jayden exploring and becoming more comfortable with the kink. It felt like Insta-love when they got together because Jayden found the binkie and then just immediately entered into this Caregiver role. I think he accepted it way too easily. I didn't expect him to be outright hostile, but I definitely thought there would be more confusion or questioning especially since the kink was so new to him. In general, almost all the characters aside from Chase's first roommate were accepting of Chase being a little. Even his parents who were portrayed throughout the book as being more unaccepting of him being gay were fine in the end which was anti-climactic. I didn't want lots of angst, but at least some resistance would have made this more interesting. This read more like an escapist fantasy which is nice sometimes, but I needed more substance.
This is my second book by Quinn Ward and I was not disappointed. We had a small glimpse of Jayden and Chase in William's book, and I was so excited to finally get their story. There was just enough of a tease in that book, that I had to get my hands on Rooming Together to know what happened with them.
As I said, I really enjoyed the Daddy/boy relationship between Jayden and Chase aka Ash. Chase nailed the anxious, shy, nervous character qualities that I love in MM romance. Jayden was the protector, even when he wasn't sure why or how.
I loved their dynamic as friends and roommates and how they progressed through the intimate discovery of each other, their relationship, their friends, and eventually their HEA. One thing that I really liked in this book is the higher exploration of this kink relationship, something I was missing in William's book.
Overall this was a solid 4-star read and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
I like this one, specifically the fact that Jayden had no clue what he was doing. Usually in these books the Daddy is very experienced and older and the little either has no clue he's a little or has been searching for the perfect Daddy. In this case Chase knows he's a little but keeps it hidden and is especially freaked out after his roommate found out and asked to have him removed from his residence. His new roomie turns out to be a daddy in waiting. It's also interesting to have a couple who are close in age (22 and 21) so they are not all jaded and know it all and have the bucks to have an entire nursery kitted out waiting for the perfect boy.
Jayden's family were nice and I think even Chase's family wasn't so bad, he just couldn't see it. Overall I enjoyed this and will follow up with what I presume with be the story of apartment mates/friends Brandon and Matthew who are exploring daddy/little as well.
I love reading about 2 people discovering a new lifestyle together! Jayden’s new roommate has a ‘little’ secret. When Chase realizes that Jayden knows his secret, he prepares for the rejection his last roommate gave him. To his surprise, Jayden is intrigued and wants to help Chase explore his little side until he can find himself a Daddy. During their exploration, Jayden realizes he doesn’t want anyone else to take care of Chase but, he’s not sure he can be the Daddy Chase needs, but he’s willing to try.
*** while Chase does wear diapers, he does not use them for their intended purpose *****
***** POV ... multi first person
Standalone or series... book 1 of series but can be read as standalone
I really enjoyed Rooming Together. While the were main characters had their struggles, most were internal. This kept the level of angst really low, which I appreciate. Chase and Jayden are two of the sweetest characters, and I loved to watch them grow and evolve into the people they were at the end of the book. Their relationship didn’t feel forced, instead it was very natural and organic. The pacing of the story was perfect. It didn’t move too slowly where the story would have lagged, and it didn’t move so quickly that I felt cheated out of watching them grow. This author has mastered this art.
The secondary characters were great as well. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of them in the future, even so, they did not take away from the main characters or the plot of the story
Chase and Jayden is such a sweet pair and we see them first in William and Corey's book, just small appearances but it had me so curious. I already loved Jayden's mother then and she is even more awesome in this one. I like how they are thrown together and stumbles their way through a kink Chase needed and Jayden didn't know he liked. And it's plenty of stumbling, from trusting another person, to finding a balance between little and big time. It's all done very well and they find their footing after some trial and errors. I especially like Jayden's commitment to being a Daddy when he got on board with his own kink.
I didn't want the book to end, I loved their sweetness and awkward moments and I hope we get to see plenty of them when we get the next book.
I absolutely love this story. Quinn Ward is one of my top favorite kink authors. This was a great start to a new series and I just know The Boys of Talbert Hall will not disappoint. Chase is such a sweetheart when he's little, or Ash. I love how the more.comfortable he gets throughout the story, it seems the younger he regresses. I could just picture some of the moments between him and Jayden and my heart felt so full and happy!! Even though Jayden questions himself on being a Daddy, he steps into the role with no hesitation. It's perfect. It made me laugh, which I happened to need at the time I was reading it. I definitely recommend this if you enjoy books with the Daddy/little dynamic. I can't wait for the next one.
We met Jayden and Chase briefly in William’s book and I’m so glad they got their own story. I loved watching Chase learn to trust Jayden but also seeing Jayden do his research and accept Chase’s little aide for what it was and trying to give him what he needed. He didn’t know if he could handle it so he went to his Uncle and got the advice and support he needed to be what Chase needed. I love reading about these guys being what the other needs. Add Matt and Brandon to the mix and I really am looking forward to their book because they clearly have some issues to work out! This series is going to be a good one, I can tell!!
Rounding up from 3.5. At first, I loved this story. Both characters were interesting and carried the plot line along, until they headed to the club. That's where I was lost in this world where Jayden didn't want anything to do with the lifestyle, yet he'd studied, learned, and bought everything he needed, had the patience and understanding, turned into this Daddy overnight and was in love. I just didn't buy the whole thing. It was way too easy all the way through. The only conflict was the roommates, who bought the act and supported them fully. I just felt like some thread of story was missing that made this seem like a genuine relationship, not a movie plot.
I love m/m romances where there is a wonderful older female character such as a grandmother (A.D. Ellis, Kiki Burrelli) or mother (Charlie Cochet). Here we have another of those characters in Jayden's mom, so I would highly recommend this book just for that. However, the rest of the book lives up to that character. The MCs Chase and Jayden are lovely together as Chase realizes that not everyone is judgemental like his first roommate and Jayden grows and becomes secure enough to give Chase what he needs and accept what he needs in return. This is a low angst read that has all the romantic feels.
Chase and Jayden are so cute when they danced around each other but once they got together they were even better! I loved Ash,he was so sweet. Jayden's mom is awesome and William is a great uncle. I loved that Jayden was such a natural daddy but was reluctant to take the mantle. I loved watching Chase grow and come out of his shell. I hope that the rest of their suite mates get books, especially Brandon and Matt though I am really curious what is up with Zach and Daniel as well. This was a sweet age play book with both partners figuring out what it meant to be in their respective roles. I would definitely recommend this book.
This book would be a great start for anyone interested in reading ABDL who isn’t sure if they would like this genre. I absolutely love daddy kink and this book was great. Chase was so sweet and when he was little he turned just adorable. I loved Jayden’s acceptance of Chase and his willingness to try something he didn’t think he would like. The whole story was so sweet and it would have been 5 stars but I was a little disappointed at the end, it just felt unfinished as I didn’t see why Chase was so worried.
I really needed a sweet, fluffy story and this was just perfect. It was just so cute and heartwarming. We met both Jayden and Chase in the first book and I was really curious about them. I loved their story, they worked beautifully together and it was great seeing them try to figure out things and explore their desires and dynamics. Everything about their relationship felt so natural. And I loved Teo’s little cameo and Matt's introduction. I hope we’ll get to read his story soon. A really great and enjoyable romance.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This is the new spin off of The Lodge series about college students, this first book is an age play story, that is fun, sweet and low angst, if you had read The Lodge then we got glimpses of the MC’s of this story but this book can be read as a complete standalone.
Jayden and Chase end up as roommates and as the story unfolds the pair first be come friends, that then develop in to so much more, as they explore the world of Daddies and their littles. My only thing, I found was the ending to me, was a bit abrupt. I can’t wait to read more from the boys of Talbert Hall.
