Adam Exiled blends imaginative sci-fi with real-world science and historical non-fiction to create something not only entertainingly fresh, but deep thinking, too. Written for young adult science-fiction fans and up, it presents a new perspective on our universe and the many beings that inhabit it. Book II in the award-winning, bestselling, Adam X series has landed on Earth. Although, it’s landed many millennia earlier than its characters had first expected!
Three years ago, the Human Adam 10 and the Floran Eve 8 escaped their habitats on the most advanced spacecraft in the galaxy, the Enclosed Dimensional Nexus. It was the first time the Preservers, a highly advanced alien race, had ever lost one of their specimens. But not everything went to plan for the two clones and their android companion, Anne. They arrived on Earth almost 6,000 years before the original Adam’s abduction.
While they’ve built a promising new life together, both carry scars from their encounter with their extra-dimensional, time travelling captors. Not only does Adam still mourn the loss of Anne, but he’s also torn on whether to tell Eve the disturbing truth behind their origins.
Meanwhile, Eve is haunted by memories from a life she never truly lived and has discovered their escape may have left her fatally ill. One way or another, the arrival of a powerful stranger will decide their fates.
Fans of pulp science-fiction classics like Star Wars and Star Trek, or the works of Philip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, Timothy Zahn and Arthur C. Clarke, will feel right at home with Adam Exiled. Especially if you also love being immersed in the creative worlds of video games such as Mass Effect, Halo and Half-Life.
Nicholas Abdilla has been writing and drawing comics from a very young age. His father was an artist and major influence and a love of storytelling made comic books the perfect outlet for Nicholas to combine his two passions. Various awards received through primary and high school and the support of his teachers and peers encouraged him to keep creating and at age 15 he registered the brand name Nick Ab's Comix to showcase his stories and art. Eventually, Nick Ab's Comix went online and built fan bases on both Myspace and Facebook but it wasn't until he approached Gameinformer with his work that he really made his mark. Gameinformer magazine began featuring his work monthly in a comic strip called 'Game Guy' that poked fun at the world of video gaming. Three years of writing satirical content gave him a yearning to go back to more serious subject matter and that's when he turned his attention to writing his first true novel. Adam X was a character he had actually created ten years prior and was an easy choice for the protagonist of his planned science fiction series. To date, there have been three books in the Adam X series with a fourth and fifth on the way. He also produces a weekly webcomic for this story published under the moniker Abzilla Comics.
~Exciting Sequel! ~First, I’ll state that I received this book as a gift from the author to read and review. ~This is book two of a rather lengthy writing project. So, there is a lot yet to be discovered. One might almost say it is epic, similar to some of the old Greek stories…stories that took place over a long time period. ~This series has a lot going for it. There is a definite classic Sci-fi element to it…multiple races throughout the galaxy. Some species are warlike, other science minded, and still others gentler in nature. Which, of course, leads to the stronger, enslaving the weaker…and the science minded ensnaring all, for the purpose of ‘observation.’ ~Then, the authors bring in the element of Time Travel. Our main characters…and the readers…must come to terms with the ultimate time paradox. Whatever is changed in the past, will have some effect on the future. So, each action must be chosen carefully. This is something that the main character, Adam X, has to learn. ~This story is partly about Adam X’s learning about the time flow, but even more so, it is about his self-discovery. He is growing, his relationship with Eve 8 is a pivotal point in this story. ~As with any good story, this one is fast paced…there is plenty of action to keep the reader wanting to know what happens next. There are also some surprises…I don’t do spoilers, so I will not say who or what…but, not everything is as it seems. ~The first book really set the pace and laid down the basic storyline…this book builds upon it. It does leave some unanswered questions…which is what “Adam Nexus” book three is for. ~I would recommend this series to the classic Sci-fi reader.
