Some men are born to lead, born to be the one in charge, given the tools to handle everything the world throws at them. Maverick is one of those men, however, nothing could or would prepare him for Marisol.

Marisol dreams of a life far and away from her so-called family. When the big bad biker gang rolls through her little village of fruit growers to deliver much-needed medicine to her people, she quickly sets her eyes on their striking leader – Maverick.

You do what you have to in order to survive, but when an escape presents itself, it’s nearly impossible to resist that urge.

Love the MCs

Maverick is making a run to the village where they sell prescription drugs to the people who can't afford to get them otherwise. The woman in charge is old and mean. When she comes up short on the money for payment, her granddaughter offers to go with Mav to work off the debt. Truth is Marisol hates her grandmother and can't wait to escape. She and Maverick hit it off but she's hard to get close to. Turns out she has a good reason - one that Maverick is determined she will share with him. Loved it.

I started out liking this book. The beginning chapters began with a bang, all very exciting. Unfortunately, that didn’t last. Part of the problem is the plot, which is very light. Whenever the plot starts to drag, we have a sex scene. There are more than enough sex scenes to satisfy the most prurient among us. The biggest problem, however, is with the main characters; I did not find them altogether likeable.

Maverick is the president of the Sacred Hearts MC, Pacific Northwest Chapter. He’s written as the usual alpha male with protective and misogynistic behaviors, pretty typical for this genre. He deviates from this, however, in odd ways. He listens to his woman, a twenty-year-old girl written to be much older. He allows her into his church meeting, much to the chagrin of some of his brothers. He isn’t always a strong leader. There are times when he doesn’t talk like an MC member; for instance, “Let’s…make our way to the bedroom.” This is strangely formal.

Marisol (a beautiful name, by the way) is his love interest. She has the equally usual abusive background for a female who is going to become part of an MC family. That seems to be a prerequisite for entry by a female into their world. The problem with Marisol is that she is not written as a twenty-year-old. In many ways, she behaves like a forty-year-old woman with teenage angst issues. Very strange.

There are errors similar to those found in the first book in this series. They cause the reader to leave the story in order to figure out what the writer is trying to say. For example:
 “…it was the best I could to.” This should read, “…the best I could do.”
 When Maverick is getting ready for a run, he tells us who is in his crew; “In the end, I had Glass Jaw, Fenris, Tic-Tac, Nine, and Cipher ready to rock and roll….” A paragraph later, Tic-Tac seems to be forgotten: “In addition to Glass Jaw, Fen, Cipher, and Nine, we would have the Eastern Washington crew…” What happened to Tic-Tac?
 “…as she shifted from foot to food….” This one’s funny; I believe it should read, “…from foot to foot.”
 “His grinned a feral grin….” I believe that should be, “He grinned a feral grin….”
 “I couldn’t take anymore….” There is a difference between “anymore” and “any more.” They are not synonymous. If the writer is talking about time (as in “Why doesn’t he love me anymore?”), then “anymore” is correct. But if the writer is talking about a quantity of something, as she is here, then “any more” should be used. The sentence should read, “I couldn’t take any more….”
 “I Plotted like a….” The second word in the sentence should not be capitalized. The sentence should read, “I plotted like a….”
 “…like I’d never let anyone in in my life….” The second “in” isn’t needed; the sentence should be, “…like I’d never let anyone in my life….”
 “…sitting the squat canvas pack on the passenger seat…” Animate objects (like people and pets) sit, while inanimate objects (like a book or a squat canvas pack) set. The sentence should read, “…setting the squat canvas pack on the passenger seat….”
 “I went to aide him….” That’s the wrong homophone. It should be, “I went to aid him….”
 “I’d gone own fu**ing program today and I knew it.” Even within context of the dialogue, I have no idea what the writer is trying to say here.
 “…I slid some Juanita’s chips and the fresh pico across the counter at him.” Missing a preposition here; possibly, “…I slid some of Juanita’s chips and the fresh pico….”
 There is some confusion regarding something that happened to Dahlia, Maverick’s best friend since childhood. In chapter 24, Marisol asks Maverick what happened to Dahlia. Marisol tells us in her narrative that Maverick “…searched my face, and spilled. He told me all of it….” Then a couple pages later, Marisol tells us again in her narrative, “…Dahlia looked like absolute death had nearly claimed her and though I didn’t know the full story, I got the impression that it very nearly had.” Is this Marisol forgetting or the writer? Maverick told Marisol “all of it,” then she states she doesn’t know the full story. Confusing.
 “…the liquor and beer was flowing….” This is a compound subject (liquor and beer), and it needs a plural verb as in, “…the liquor and beer were flowing….”
 The Epilogue is not an epilogue at all; it’s either the first chapter or an advertising blurb for the next book. An epilogue is used to round up loose ends in a book, to make sure the ending is satisfying, and the storylines are tied up neatly.

I rated this book 2.5 stars and rounded up. I found the plot thin and the characters lacking. I do like the way Ms. Downey writes, and particularly enjoy the detailed descriptions of Seattle and Washington state. Humorously (perhaps), I think the chapter titled “Epilogue,” is one of the best parts of the book. I’m tempted to get this next book, despite the disappointments in the first two. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see….

When it comes to MC books I find that I either love 'em or hate 'em, there is very little middle ground.
And "Wind Therapy" falls squarely in the latter category. It is over-written, tries to cover too many plots, the dialogue is often off-key, and whenever the pace is flagging there is sex, lots of sex!
Alpha male Maverick is President of a Sacred Hearts MC chapter. He's into domination and submission. Now where's he going to find someone like that?
As it turns out the beautiful Marisol will do anything to get away from her abusive grandmother and when Maverick turns up she's outta there pronto. That's taken care of in Chapter one, no waiting around here!
She leaves her younger brother and a disturbing personal story behind.
For a long time, despite the sex, very little happens. Then Marisol reveals that she was sexually abused and the abuser is promptly tracked down and disposed of - it's all very matter of fact and not particularly well done.
I found myself plodding through "Wind Therapy", not liking it but not quite willing to pull the plug.
The best part of it was the final chapter which is odd as it is actually the first chapter of the next book in the series.

Mav is a really interesting and complex character. He shifts from hot to cold, soft to hard, brutal to kind in milliseconds and the writing is great to create such a character that’s believable. I will say that this book really made me dislike Delilah, but I also didn’t like how Mav treated her. I do think if you’re going to casually mention their backgrounds so much that the author should have fleshed out a lot more about why they are away from their crime families, specifically more information about Mav’s Dad (hopefully that comes in a later book). Marisol was great. She did what she needed to do, initially, so get of a horrific situation and to make things better for herself and her brother. I liked that she didn’t just let Mav run her over. Their relationship was really well written.

Fabulous read. True story from beginning to end

Never missing a beat, this story is great. Don’t know where it was going to take you which made it a great page turner within itself to find where the story was going. Very original and thoughtful in the detail and issues. Love the quote “I’m the Hades to your Persephone, babe. You just point and I’ll unleash hell.” Tells you the depth of the relationship being told!

Mav

I loved Maverick and Marisol's story. After everything she had been through she is a strong women and an excellent match for Maverick. I loved how he cared for when she needed it most. His idea of punishment when she interrupted church made me giggle. Mateo is finally with his sister and I love how the guys took to him. I'm so happy they found each other. I can't can't get enough of this series and can't wait to see what happens next!

Another Winner!

The SHMC men strike again! This story is a tad different...the relationship that develops between Maverick and Marisol is so sweet and caring. Yes the love scenes are not and they share a stream passion for each other but there is just an overwhelming sweetness that permeates the entire relationship, it's adorable!

The heart wants what the heart wants

After reading DT’s story I was intrigued with Mav and this group. This series has grabbed my attention and was worth the read! The build up keeps you turning the pages and the Meatloaf reference was EPIC!! Mav is so complexed and Marisol has a strength that is true grit. Now we need to know about Fen and Tic Tac!!

A really good book, Maverick and Marisol make a formidable couple, the sex is over the top, and the biker world realistic. The only reason why this is 3 stars is the rule „No Women and Children“ That this Club seems to live by does not seem to include the President. And no matter his reasons or the provocation, it was unforgivable.

Worth a try

I liked the characters a lot and the storyline is interesting. However the is just way too much boring detail. I thought book one was that way to set the world stage of the MC club but it continues in book two. No one needs to know every road or highway taken on a road trip.

Wind Therapy

Awesome read. I absolutely loved Maverick and Marisol’s story ❤️❤️❤️ he’s a hard man but she doesn’t cower to anyone. She was desperate to get out from her Abulia’s controlling leadership and offered herself as compensation to Maverick. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Can’t say enough great things about this series!

So i saw a review about the age gap, they couldn’t I just don’t think age really was a big deal. This is the outlaw life. They don’t play by citizens rules!

I really enjoyed this one much more than the first. I think the author has found her stride with the club. Desperation may have brought them together, but fate may have had a hand in it.

On the fence - it’s an MC romance with all that life entails. I get it, but…. Sigh. There are moments that just make me cringe.

Another great story

I have loved everything by this author since I first discovered her a few years ago and read her original SHMC series. I was super excited for this series, since it's in my home town area. I was not at all disappointed, either. I loved the interaction between the characters and the respect Maverick demands from everyone when it comes to his woman. I am looking forward to the next installment with my one-click finger ready.
