Title: ➳ Imminent Harm Series ➳Cass Leary Legal Thriller 6# Author: ➳ Robin James Publication: ➳ May 28th 2020 LIVE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
ღ Splendid & exciting book. I was so enthralled with the story I couldn't put the book down. I've read all the previous books & was so glad that the author shared more of Cass personal life with this one
At times I really didn’t enjoy the setting in Delphi, Michigan. with everyone knowing everyone’s business, but I guess that’s what its like living in a small, home-town feel & all of the extra mess that comes along with it This had just Lil different feel to it , compare to the previous books…
Ever since Cass had represented her deadbeat father in a murder trial earlier in the year, her community standing had taken a hit once again.
So when Cass take on a simple case refer to her by co-worker. Cass still manages to stir up big a hornet’s nest Ukrainian mob… honestly Cass doesn’t know how to play it safe with anything she does….. Cass always seem to put herself in Imminent Harm
With Cass , you always know to wait for the other shoe to drop in her cases…. So just when you thought that you figure things out Ms James storyline, she’ll remind you not to give up so easily
Always twists & turns. Of course, with MS James books… I’m looking to see what next with Cass’s story
1. Burden of Truth 2. Silent Witness 3. Devil's Bargain 4. Stolen Justice 5- Blood Evidence 6- Imminent Harmღ 7- First Degree
➦📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion 💕 💕 Also I wouldn’t discourage anyone from reading it.
➦*I received an ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review of it. 💕 💕 . .**This has not influenced my review.* **
It doesn’t matter how many Robin James books I read, they suck the reader in like a vacuum and only let go once the power is switched off❣️An absolutely fantastic and suspenseful story with lots of twists and turns🤩
Cass has been struggling to find clients after her father blew through town, in the previous book. When she’s approached by a new Judge to see if she can help his sister, whom he suspects might be involved in a domestic abuse relationship with her husband....he asks Cass to see if she can help Annie. However, it soon becomes clear that not everything is as it appears and tragedy is just around the corner😢
I received an advanced copy and I willingly leave my honest review❤️ Can’t wait for the next Cass Leary story, it’s going to be phenomenal if the ending is any indication😍
Book 6 in this series takes a different approach than its predecessor stories. This one has lawyer Cass doing a special favor for a presiding judge, who suspects his younger sister is in a physically abusive marriage. Cass becomes the girl's trusted confidante as she does everything in her power to bring stability and safety to her life. But nothing comes easy in Cass' world. One thing leads to another, leads to another, etc. And, as usual, there are plenty of surprises along the way. Another great ride.
This one is okay. It's not as intriguing as some others. Why would a defense attorney be asked to be a judge? Why was there a moment when Cass decided she wasn't strong enough to help herself in a dire situation? Women may not have male strength, but I read plenty of books where women can at least fight for their life when needed. I guess the book would not have ended up as it did if Cass Leary was a woman who felt she could take care of herself, when in fact it's others who come to her rescue. That is a negative for me.
Excellent legal thriller. A young woman comes to attorney Cass Leary, fearing for her life. She has the bruises to prove her husband's been abusing her. Cass convinced her to get a protective order against him and makes arrangements for her to go to a safe house. She never shows up. The next day her body is found. Cass feels responsible, like she should have done more. The woman's husband is arrested but swears he didn't kill her.
I started reading the book and didn't want to put it down. Another great job by the author of piecing together a story that keeps you turning the pages to a satisfactory conclusion. Really like Cass and her backstory as well. Definitely recommend!
4.5 stars. Book 6. This series is addictive. I know there are 12 books in the series and each time I finish one, I can't wait to start the next. Each is unique and page turning and this one sure turned up the intensity. Love the double carrot the author drops at the end. I've got Book 7 already downloaded.
Kent tucker's sister is in serious trouble. He knows that. He can see the evidence. Because he is a local judge, he can't take upon himself the vigilante mindset unless he no longer wants his job.
Cass Leary is in financial trouble. She is a local lawyer in town, and she defended her father in a previous book. It was an unpopular case among the community’s legal cognoscenti. For that reason, her bank accounts are lean and all but evaporated.
Judge Tucker quietly admires Leary—not in some sexual way, but because she has shown courage in cases she defended in previous books. If anyone can help his troubled sister, it is Cass. Cass needs the money, and she needs a break from her lovable but hyperchaotic family; she takes the job. It seems the woman’s husband, whose family members are all part of a Ukrainian mob, abused the wife far more often than he ought to have. The woman had had it with her marital arrangement, and Cass works to get her into a safe house. But the woman never shows up. Instead, they find her body bloated and floating in a lake near town and not far from Cass’s new house.
I’ve stopped looking for courtroom drama in these books. It’s barely there, and if you look for it, the author will disappoint you. This is the best in the series I’ve read so far, and part of that is because I’ve stopped believing the publisher’s hype that these books are full of courtroom drama. There’s plenty of mystery and suspense here, and the author writes the end cleverly enough, and it won’t be one you’ll conjure up while you’re reading an early chapter.
The narration works well, and the plot is engaging without any dead spots. The earlier books are good albeit a bit formulaic, but this one held my interest more than even the previous ones did. I can’t decide on how to advise you as to whether you should read the previous books first. It may help a bit, but it’s not at all crucial.
I am enjoying the Cass Leary legal thrillers, reading them in chronological order. The characters are fleshed out, the storylines are compelling, making it difficult to put them down. The only irritants have to do with the author’s over use of certain words. It appears all younger people are described as rosy cheeked. Ms. James loves to use the word hardened to describe people’s facial expressions when they become serious or angry…his face hardened…. Even using a form of the word to describe a woman’s “hard beauty” whatever that means, in one of the earlier books. The heroes are always very tall and either lanky or broad and overprotective.. The central women are short or tiny, usually beautiful or gorgeous and in need of protecting. Not an average looking broad in the bunch. My guess is the small town of Delphi, MI has a disproportionate share of the beauties in the US, despite the Michigan winters and a lack of great plastic surgeons. I am still wondering what a woman with hard beauty looks like……….
I snuck in this sixth in the series Cass Leary book between more serious readings, just for a change of pace. Once again, it was an easy to read and entertaining story. Cass is approached by a newly appointed judge to help pry his sister away from a nasty mate. Cass agrees to what begins as a simple chore but quickly expands to more than she imagined.
There are twists and turns, suspense and surprises galore. Absent is lengthy court room antics and Cass’s family is less dominate. The surprise ending leaves us with a change of direction clue to the next series installment.
Altogether, this is an entertaining quick read which I recommend. I’ll continue to mix the series with other more serious book.
Imminent Harm is the sixth book in the Cass Leary Legal Thriller Series by Robin James. This is a gripping and emotionally charged legal thriller series that is as compelling as it is thought-provoking. Cass Leary is a fiercely intelligent and tenacious attorney who navigates the murky waters of justice with a mix of grit, vulnerability, and unyielding determination. The cases in the series are diverse and meticulously detailed, ranging from domestic disputes to high-stakes criminal trials. Robin James’ background as a legal practitioner shines through in the authenticity of the courtroom scenes and the nuanced exploration of ethical dilemmas. Each book is a page-turner, filled with unexpected twists, moral gray areas, and moments of genuine suspense. Happy Reading…
This is the 6th in the series. Can't wait until the next one comes out.
Cass Leary is still running her practice, but times are getting a little lean and she has to take cases assigned from the court. This time, though, a new judge, Kent Tucker, comes to her and asks her to help him with his sister. It seems that his sister, Annie, is a victim of violence abuse by her husband.
Cass meets Annie and takes her case of filing an Protective Order and divorce proceedings against her husband. But, in doing so, Cass puts herself right in dangers way!!
I just loved this series and can't until the next one comes out to revisit Cass and her family!! Always great courtroom drama and action!!
Ive loved this series by Robin James. Cass Leary, a criminal defense lawyer, moved back or ran screaming back (depending whose telling the story) to her hometown of Delphi MI. Since her return she and her family have faced one threat after the other. Now that it appears the Leary Clan might be settling down, Cass is again faced with questions when her client’ husband is charged with murder.
Cons: Proofreading and editing is much better in this book. There is a discrepancy in how Eric’s story is unfolding the previous novel.
I just finished this book. What a page Turner! This legal set is a top of the line set. I have always enjoyed this type, and this series is no disappointment. Some of the best twists and turns that you cannot see coming. But not the unrealistic out of nowhere type. The author keeps a realistic flavor , while knocking your socks off surprise from time to time. As well as a good bang at the ending. No one needs to persuade you to get started on the next book of this series, " First degree ". And now that's where I am headed. Hope you enjoyed this one as much as me.
While I wait for Ian O’Connor’s biography of Aaron Rodgers to be released on Tuesday, I reverted back to Robin James and her Cass Leary Series. Book Six is entitled “Imminent Harm,” and details Cass Leary’s concern for a missing client who had just taken out a personal protective order against her abusive husband. Twists and turns keep the reader guessing as the story unfolds until Cass finds her own life in jeopardy. I must admit that I have enjoyed the author’s characters and writing style. (302 pages)
I’m not giving stars, because I abandoned this very early (at the 3% mark). I’ve stuck with Cass Leary and her super-annoying family drama and the improbable plots through five books, because I thought they were decently written. But the premise of this one seems so wildly improbable (a judge asking a lawyer in his courtroom for help in a personal situation) that I couldn’t suspend disbelief and keep going. Done. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Terry Linden Clark. B or B+ to her.
I've never binge-read a series before. Like, a book a day for eleven days? But it appears I'm doing so now. After #4, I bought the rest of the series, so there's no delay jumping from one book to the next. LOL. Health-wise, it's so bad to sit on my behind for days, reading. But, I'm having so much fun! Every story is great. I love legal thrillers, and these are a perfect fit for me. James delivers a surprise in every book; I love it!
Well, for a few Cass Leary books I've been wishing she'd get away from her problematic family for a while. In this one, she does, which is great. Except it seems like this isn't really a legal thriller at all. There is very little courtroom stuff going on and I kind of feel like this wasn't even your typical Cass Leary book.
Good to deviate from the norm, I guess. Still well written, still love Cass, still gonna read more.
I am a big fan of these Cass Leary legal thrillers. Set in a small down, Cass has a great law practice and an interesting family. She is always juggling family and cases and trying to have a romantic relationship with Detective Eric Wray. She becomes involved in a domestic violence dispute that turns ugly. There is a surprise near the end that one of the good guys is really a very bad guy. Not my favorite but still entertaining.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first 90% of this book. But the conclusion was too abrupt and conveniently wrapped up in storytelling, narrative fashion. It was almost like the author said "Oh, it's getting too long I better wrap it up!"... Sadly! I love Robin James books and especially this character, Cass Leary, but this could've been a better ending!
This entire series has kept me turning page after page from on book to the 6th book. I have enjoyed the characters and the honest humble plight of a totally dysfunctional family trying to over come their parents shady legacy. You will cry laugh and feel their emotions. Second chances really do happen.
I can't get enough of this series! Good character development, fast-paced plot, and just enough romance to keep things interesting in Cass' personal life. The legal side is interesting, if somewhat far-fetched sometimes. But that keeps it unpredictable and suprising in a good way. I highly recommend this series!
I have been following this series from the beginning. It is so well written that it takes real effort to put it down and go do something else. I'm fact, I usually read it in one sitting. These novels are not your run of the mill mysteries . They are thought provoking, entertaining and always have a twist to the story. It is well worth purchasing this series.
The author has written an excellent story of the efforts of criminal’s who will do anything to insure they remain undetected and continues their lifestyle. A great story with many twist and turns that will keep you entertained and guessing.
I would rate this 4.5 easily. I love this series! Characters are well written and easy to relate to, especially growing up in a small town in Michigan. I finish one book, and can't wait to get to start the next one! So glad I have 6 more left to read! Don't know what I am going to do when I have to wait for 13 and 14 to come out!!!!
Absolutely loved this series. I love stumbling across a long series that I can get my teeth into, and this one did not disappoint. I'm even more stoked that there is another series, too, from the opposite side of the court. I thought all the books were quite fast-paced and kept my attention throughout. The side characters all had their parts to play and I loved their dynamic.
I was a little disappointed in this book because it didn't really follow either case that Cass was involved in to their conclusions in court. There was too much time spent with the negotiating part of the book. The twist at the end was a surprise, but the extra problem that Cass solved seemed too contrived.
Cass is contacted by a judge to help him with his sister. She is being physically abused by her husband. Cass becomes Annie’s lawyer. Case tries to get her to go to a safe house while divorce and PPO papers are being served to her husband, Brian. But Annie disappears. Basically a good book but one part is particularly weak near the end.
An amazing addition to an already amazing series this one does not spend the same amount of time in the courtroom as the others did but waiting for first degree and hope we get a third series regarding Judges Cause we already have Defence Prosecution and left are Judges
Thrilling crime novel with what I thought was a shocking and surprise ending. Great legal drama with some of Robin James’ frequent cast of characters with a fresh storyline each and every time. Loved it!
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This small town in Michigan certainly has a lot going on. Book needs editing to provide clarity. The main starting issue is sorta solved half way through, but a rough ride is going to keep you guessing to the end.
