He’s way too young and he works for me … so why can’t I stay away?

I had no trouble saying no to Channing when he left for college two years ago. I’m two and a half decades older than him and he was just a kid. But he’s all man now and it’s hard to stay away. Especially when he takes a job at my tattoo shop for the summer. He’s got his whole life ahead of him. I can’t let him waste it on me.

I’m not letting Regan go this time …

I’m about to turn twenty-one, but the only thing I want a drink of is Regan, the hot tattoo shop owner who’s my boss for the summer. I can see desire in his eyes when I catch him looking at me. And I know my place is right beside him. Nothing has ever felt more right than sleeping in his arms. But how can we make it work when I’m heading back to school once summer is over?

I really enjoyed the two MC's, the waiting, pining, angst, then eventual relationship. It definitely had its rough patches, but I felt the writing in this story was excellent and really beat expectations.

"He’s way too young and he works for me … so why can’t I stay away"?
Channing has been in love with Reagan since he was 17 years old. After he turned 18 and before leaving for college Channing just "went for it" and tried to show Reagan how he felt...but was turned down flat. At the opening of this story, three-years have gone by, and Channing is home from college for the summer, and he wants to try and prove to the guy that stole his heart all those years ago that he did listen to him. Reagan had told him to go get some "experience"...live life and enjoy college... so that is what Channing has done...but no one he had tried to date had ever measured up to Reagan. Reagan had always been in his corner and had looked out for him when he as at his lowest. Coming face to face after those few years scared Channing, but the moment, they actually came face to face he knew that all the things he had felt 3-years ago, simply had to have been felt by both of them. He can see it in the way Reagan looks at him and he can feel it deep in his very bones. This time he is going to make sure that Reagan sees him for the man he now is and not the boy he had once been.

Reagan did very much want to see Channing, but at the same time he dreaded, seeing "the kid" that he always secretly thought of as "his", now all grown up. Channing was 21 now and was no longer the 18-year-old that Reagan had to literally force himself to stay away from. To make matters worse there is still, and will always be, that almost 25-year age difference between them. Reagan thinks that Channing needs to get out and live life; not be tied down to a man that is old enough to be his father. You know what they say about the "best laid plans of mice and men"? When face to face with Channing, Reagan was not prepared for all those same old tramped-down feelings to come rushing back and be obvious to everyone and not just to Channing. He had promised himself to keep things on the "professional" side with Channing... until.... until someone dared to put a heavy hand on what is now and had always been his. Reagan can no longer stay away.

The dynamic between these two was "off the wall HOT...and even though the subject is not my favorite... it's a good "age gap" story. They had that undeniably perfect "push and pull" between them, while still trying to navigate all these new things they were feeling. It seemed that their story wasn't ever supposed to have been easy, but it felt so right and so real. Reagan brought out exactly who Channing was meant to be, and Channing gave Reagan his "spark of life" back. There is drama, but not too much, and not for too long. It's just what the story needed, and I loved it. I'm ready to see another "Get Inked" couple find their happy place.

Three stars

I totally fell in love with the idea of Channing and Reagan in the last book. And for the first 60% of the book things went pretty smoothly. Reagan has some holdups about the age difference, but Channing proved himself in every way. But then, in the latter half of the book the drama hit and it just took away from the feel good feeling I had from the beginning. So three stars because while I enjoyed the book, I could have done without the drama.

Okay so mixed feelings about this one

Let’s see. This follows Channing, a 21 year old on a college break back in his home town where he goes back to work in his old tattoo parlour with his old boss (literally) Reagan. Who also rejected him two years ago before he left for college. And now they’re back in close quarters and develop a relationship.

“This is how I see you, you know. Your beauty and your masculinity and maturity. It’s you when you’re being the authentic you. The only you I want.”

Do I feel like Channing was immature? Absolutely not. I felt like his arguments were completely justified and real no matter the age. Getting ditched at a party they didn’t want to come to in the first place would hurt despite the other MCs success during the party.

“You’re not a muse—you’re my inspiration.”

But I did like the honest conversations they had and the character development Channing had was notable. Reagan however remained the same throughout the entire book and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Overall. I think this was an okay read. Not a serious one. Just a fun and flirty romance.

Oh heavens, I LOVED this story soooo much!!!
Channing & Reagan were everything!!! BUT......

Usually, I save my niggles or issues until the end, but I have to get this out because it really freaking bugged me soooo much!! The cover of Old Ink is tasty, I can't lie because he is pulling off the whole sexy 1940's sailor vibes BUT it isn't Reagan. Like at all! When reading we imagine people in a manner of different ways so while the cover model isn't always spot on, they are usually similar. This is one of those cases where it wasn't at all. Reagan is a big, tatted ginger fellow and that guy is not. Rant over, I think...

Channing has been in love with Reagan since he was 17 years old. After turning 18 before leaving for college Channing put the moves on the big ginger and was turned down instantly. Now, nearly 3 years later Channing is home from college for the summer and he wants to prove to the guy that stole his heart all those years ago that he listened to him. Reagan told him to go get some experience, live life and enjoy college so that is what Channing did. No one ever quite measured up to Reagan though, the guy that was always in his corner and looked after him when he as at his lowest. Coming face to face after these few years scared Channing but the moment, they come face to face he knows that all the things he was feeling years ago were reciprocated. He can see it in the way Reagan looks at him and he can feel it deep in his bones that this time he is going to make sure Reagan sees him for the man his and not the kid he was.

It has been three years since Reagan has seen Channing and it would be a lie to say he wasn't looking forward to seeing the kid all grown up. Almost 21 now, Channing is no longer the kid Reagan had to force himself to stay away from. With a close to 25-year age difference between them Reagan knew that Channing needed to get out there and live life and not be tied down to a man old enough to be his father. Being face to face with Channing, Reagan was not prepared for the old feelings to come back so forceful and apparent to everyone not just Channing. He has vowed to keep things professional with Channing until someone lays a hand on what is his and Reagan can no longer stay away.

The dynamic between these two is what I love about a good age gap story. They had the perfect push and pull between each other while still trying to navigate this new thing between them while life threw problems at them. Their story wasn't destined to be easy, but it felt so real. Reagan brought out exactly who Channing was meant to be, and Channing gave Reagan his spark back. This story had the drama don't get me wrong but honestly, I just loved it beyond measure.

I've really enjoyed following all the guys in this series. Channing, though, got to me in a way that none of the others have, mostly because he had such a hard start, but he really managed to pull himself up. So having his own story is just great.

I love how strong and mature that Channing is. He really knows himself, what he wants, and what he needs. He says he did it to prove himself to Reagan, but really, he just proves to himself that he deserves so much more.

I like Reagan, but he really screwed up a lot in this one. He's lucky that Channing is such a forgiving person. I don't know that I would have put up with so much crap.

Uh, this one wasn't my favorite. I was looking forward to Channing and Reagan's book, but I didn't like this one. I felt like these were two new characters.

Reagan's always talked about how he loved his shop, but now all of a sudden he wants to cancel the show and do something different. Can you say mid-life crisis? Channing was definitely more mature, but then would show his age pretty quick. I mean this age gap is HUGE (25 years) and I hate it when the story truly shows how big the age gap is.

I'm starting to wonder if I need to stop with this series because the next one seems to be Mateo and Bryan which will be another huge age-gap....ugh. This one was a hot mess. So I don't have a lot of hope for the next one. Sigh...

This is my first book of the series. It well read well as a stand alone and it made me interested to go read the rest of the series.

Tattooist and shop owner Reagan is 45
Channing almost 21 and has been away at college for 3 yrs.
Now they are back in close proximity and fighting their attraction.

A good story set mainly in Reagan's tattoo shop of made family and believing in yourself.

The age gap between them causes some difficulty and I enjoyed watching them figure it out.

I look forward to Matteo and Bryans story.

Right up until the maybe 70% mark I was completely sure I‘d give this book 5 stars…and then it all went downhill. Honestly, I can’t even begin to explain why it didn’t do it for me in the end, but it just felt as if all of Channing‘s insecurities suddenly were overlooked again? Like, Reagan kept acting like an ass and Channing kept forgiving him and their relationship didn’t even grow from their fights. Idk how to feel about this series anymore, ngl

I like this series. I was really looking forward to this particular installment. Unfortunately it was as a serious letdown for me. I expected more from Reagan. It turns out that Channing is the grownup in this pairing and Reagan is still doubting and playing games. You don't treat someone the way Reagan treated Channing and then come back without earning it. I expected better from Ali Lyda.

I really liked the story. It had a good flow to it and the characters were well written. The story was engaging and kept me entertained. It would have been a 5-star review except for one thing. If you are going to have a person on the cover they need to resemble the character descriptions you give. This book mentioned Reagan being a redhead repeatedly. The guy on the cover is definitely not a redhead. It threw things off for me. If you can't find someone to match your character then maybe don't put a person on the cover.

This was a great book. I was very excited for this book. Reagan was has been the father of sorts to the other guys at the shop and to see him get his happy ending is awesome. Even if he is a little bit of a jerk while getting it. Channing is perfect match for Reagan. I am loving this series!

I really enjoy this series, probably because it deals with redemption at it forefront and the act of second chances. I love that. I haven't read the first book yet, although I plan to, but I enjoyed the second, and was anxious to get Reagan and Channing's story, especially since it left off at an awkward place for the two.

I am actually really happy that Channing took a few years to experience life away from his brother and their Get Ink'd family. It helped to grow as person and as a man. The maturity in his character was so obvious to me. The fact that it was Reagan that acted immaturely in his worst moments in this book wasn't that shocking to me. Channing had the image of Reagan being this older and wiser man without flaws, but he quickly learned that no one is perfect, not even Reagan.

When Reagan finally accepted that his attraction to Channing was something neither of them could deny and pursued a relationship with him, I figured that it would be Reagan that messed things up. It's hard to not lose yourself in a world where adoration is some sort of compensation, and when Reagan finds himself back into the art world with his predatory ex boyfriend, it definitely highlighted issues within Reagan that he needed to address. In part, it was that need to be the center of that adoration. That moment for me emphasized that Channing wasn't the only one that needed to grow as a person and as a man. Now, I won't lie, how Reagan treated Channing, and how he assumed Channing was at fault in one part of the book, I was incredibly disappointed in him. Yet, how Channing held his own and stood firm in his own self worth, that was a proud moment for me, and I pitied Reagan for not being worthy for Channing at that point.

Their reconciliation, however, seemed rushed. I don't know if I bought that Reagan fully held his actions accountable, and I don't know if I liked that Channing so easily forgave him for what he did and how he acted. This isn't me saying that I did not want them to end up together, it's just I wanted Reagan to work for that forgiveness because Channing deserved that.

Overall, the book was thoroughly enjoyable and the set up for the next book with Bryan (or is it Bryce) and Mateo is intriguing.

If you haven’t read this series, go and grab Book 1 and start reading because it’s great. No, you don’t need to read the books in order; they’re interconnected standalones, but the events are sequential, not concurrent so reading them in order makes sense and you’ll have a more complete reading experience. But whether you read this alone or in order, it doesn't matter - just read it.

This story follows Reagan and Channing’s relationship, which is engaging and a little bit unexpected. It’s an age gap romance (and a pretty big one at that with Channing just turning 21 at the beginning of the story and Reagan in his mid-40s), but turned on its head. It starts from the typical premise - Reagan holds back because he thinks he’s too old for Channing - but as the story progresses, it becomes apparent that age and maturity are not the same thing, and while Reagan is the “old ink” in this scenario, it’s young Channing who’s showing maturity well beyond his years. That twist is simultaneously intriguing and annoying, and maybe that’s the point. The story is well written and the characters are given dimension so, particularly for Reagan, we’re eager to see his actions and reactions and we can identify and empathize while still wanting to knock some sense into him.

Channing is the star in this book; he is indefatigable in his determination to go after what he wants no matter the challenge and notwithstanding his fears, and more importantly, in maintaining his self-respect and his self-worth. His relationship with Reagan is skillfully crafted and we see exactly how they physically and emotionally fit together. An added bonus in this book is the frequent appearances and interactions with Dane, from Book #2; not only is the relationship between Channing and his brother Christian heartwarming, but Channing’s bond with Dane is obvious and fulfilling. (It’s also fun to see our Book #2 couple post-HEA).

There’s not much set up for the next book in the series, that is until the last chapter … and now I can’t wait for Book #4 to release.

I received a free copy of this book, but there was no obligation to review. This review is provided voluntarily and reflects my honest opinions and views.

Really enjoying this series so far, love the tattoo artists with various histories getting their HEA's.
Old Ink sees Get Ink'd boss, Reagan, fight against his attraction for younger man, Channing. This couple met in Messy Ink when Channing was caught breaking into the store but instead of reporting him, he was brought in to work in the shop to pay off his debt. He also went to live with his brother (Christian) and really turned his life around.
Channing is back in town after three years away at college and is determined to show Reagan how he's matured but there's only so much he can push. Reagan himself is having a personal crisis as he is weighed down with how much work he has going on with so many balls in the air with the shop and TV show. He is proud and grateful for his shop and the family he's created but he keeps thinking back on when he was a painter using different mediums.
Feelings cannot be denied forever, though Reagan ensures that the couple are not in the same bad situation that he experienced as a younger man when he felt pressured by his professor/lover. There are a lot of super sweet moments that they have together, a lot showcasing how caring and thoughtful of others Reagan is. Their time apart didn't dampen anything between them and their chemistry is off the charts. Of course, it's not all smooth sailing when Reagan's past comes back into his life, affecting him and his relationship with Channing.
Yet again, there's a brilliant showing of the family feel that they have at Get Ink'd. So much love and support from this self made family, Reagan even bringing in another young man, offering him the chance at a second go at life. Even has a teaser as to the relationship happening in the next book of the series.
Another great book in the series and fans of age gap romance will enjoy Reagan and Channing's relationship development.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Old Ink, the third book in the Get Ink'd series is amazing. This Ali Lyda read is everything I was hoping it would be. Having long been intrigued by Reagan and Channing's story, it is as good as I was hoping it would be .

I love Get Ink'd and all the Get Ink'd family. Of course they continue to be present in this part of the series and continue to entertain.

Good god, I have been waiting for Reagan and Channing's story and it certainly doesn't disappoint. We've long known that these two have something between them, but we also know that Reagan has been fighting off the younger man's advances. Now, two years later, Channing is back and is still interested in his older boss.

Reagan is at a changing point in his life, as Channing is unsure of his future. Their story explores desires and passions. It's a story of self worth. Their story is tender and romantic, everything these two who long pined for each other deserve.

Seriously, their story is mesmerizing. Reagan has valid reasons for denying the younger man, but he's hard pressed to deny the attraction. He doesn't want to hold the younger man back, or down, and it's not easy to come to terms with how to have something between them.

Channing's past is awful, but luckily there's not too much of his hardships detailed in this book.

Of course, even once they give in to their feelings, things won't be easy. There's some of Reagan's past that threatens to come between them, as well as their own issues.

And then there's the physical side of things. The author includes some extremely emotional sex in their tale. It is beautiful and touching and everything I could have asked for.

Old Ink is another amazing Ali Lyda book. As an avid fan of Ali's books, I am thrilled with the way Ali delivers this long awaited love story.

Channing is a young college student who has decided to move back home during the summer. In the past he has worked in a tattoo parlor with his brother-in-law, Dante and hes eager and somewhat nervous to return. It's been 3 years since he has seen Reagan, the sexy and devastingly handsome, abeit a bit older man who owns and runs the shop. Needless to say after a passionate kiss and a less then stellar goodbye the two had parted on awkward terms. But Channing is older now and he knows what he wants...and it's still Reagan. Reagan has felt a connection to the younger man for years but he was unwlling to act on their attraction. He has been burned in the past and he didn't want to force this younger man into being with him. Now as the summer draws to a close both men come to terms with what they want in their lives...the only question left is whether their personal goals can align with a relationship.

I have been needlessly waiting for this novel since we saw the attraction between these two beautiful men. I loved Channing in Dante's book. I loved the relationship they had their and I felt it carried over and expanded in this novel. Channing has come a long way from the snarky teen that Dante found breaking into the shop. Also, the chemistry between Channing and Reagan is ON FIRE! I loved how this big burly man was so protective of Channing and would do anything for him, including sacrificing his own needs. I felt Reagan was pretty stupid at times, but I think everything worked out how it was supposed to.

I would recommend this book for those that are interested in age-gap romance, tatted redeemed bad boys and explosive chemistry.

Another amazing story! I have been following this series since the first book and have never been disappointed. Indeed, each book only seems to get better. Each story line different enough to keep me interested, yet so well woven together that I feel as though each character’s story continues and progresses in each book.

Each character. The depth of character written into the different stories is full and rich. The relatability to the characters is amazing. It’s as though I can reach out and touch them. Or better yet, bump into one of them in the street and not be surprised that they are real. Along these lines I was thrilled to discover that this story fulfills the promise of more and better for each of characters whose story was already told, while slowly building my introduction to the others waiting in the wings.

Reagan, the mature in age but not necessarily in emotions, owner of Get Ink’d who meets his match. Channing, the boy who grew into a maturity that many of us “older folk” can envy. This is a wonderful melding of two people who are at different points in their lives but whose roles aren’t what you would necessarily assume. Each balancing the other in both expected and unexpected ways.

This journey took me through Reagan and Channing’s story of hope and hurt, regression and growth, and left me (in what I’ve found to be par for the course for this author) happy, satisfied, and wanting more. A job very well done! I continue to be thankful that I started this series, as this book has only continued to deliver on the overall theme while giving It’s own unique gem of a story. I now wait, somewhat impatiently, for the next tale, knowing it will be another jewel.

Old Ink, the third book in the Get Ink'd series, is Reagan and Channing's story. The timeline is 3 years after the events in book two and Channing is back working in the Get Ink'd tattoo studio whilst home from college for the summer. The attraction between him and Reagan is still there despite Reagan's fears and attempts to ignore the feeling until it goes away.

The storyline is good in that it's engaging without being full of too much melodrama (there is a bit of drama stemming from some of Reagan's behaviour), because the themes around personal growth are more prominent for me rather than any action. There's some heavy emotions, so I'm happy there's also humour to balance the mood - Dane (Channing's brother-in-law and one of the MCs from Messy Ink) just can't help himself. He and the rest of the Get Ink'd crew are still a great cast of side characters. It's well-written, with a pleasing style and pace which makes it easy to read in one hit. I have just one thing that really annoys me though, tattoo machines are not 'guns'...people in the tattoo community haven't called them that for decades. I thought we'd avoided that, but no...

As for the MCs, Reagan is the papa bear figure in the tattoo shop and tries so hard to maintain that persona, leaving himself little time to do anything outside of work that stirs his passion - both with relationships and his art. We learn the reasons behind this and see that the man is very human...far from perfect and his flaws almost cost him the most important thing in his life. Channing is a delight. His personal growth during his time at college is evident. He's become a thoughtful, caring man. The two of them totally work together...once they sort out their differences.

Old Ink is a great May/December romance, keeping up the high standard in the Get Ink'd series. It looks like Cupid's going to strike next for Mateo... can't wait! 4.5* rounded up.

Oh this was the one I was waiting for!!!!
Regan turned down Channing advances 2 years ago and made it clear to him he needed to go and enjoy his time at college. Have fun and see what he wants out of life. And it was one of the hardest things he had to do But because of something that happened in his past he knew that this was the right thing to do.
Channing had not understood why but he planned to make the most of it and come back fighting because he knows that Regan is the man for him.
Two years later and Channing is back for the summer and looking for a job and it makes sense to go back to the tattoo shop. And the attraction is crazy as soon as they see each other again. But where as Channing is looking for Regan to see he has grown as a person and ready to be the man he needs. Regan is still fighting his feelings for Channing no matter how sexy that young man is and how he can excite him in seconds. But something happens that makes Regan show his hand and get his man. But does Regan see Channing as the man in front of him or does he still see the young boy that left two years ago???
This is an outstanding read and I just couldnt put this book down. I got totally lost in their story and went through so many emotions. There are a few men in this book that I totally disliked and may of shouted out at and got a few strange looks from my family. But I just wanted the best for Regan and Channing an amazing read.
And i can not wait for the next book, oh it was a great tease at the end bring it on!!!!

Channing is contemplating the future. With Christian’s financial support, he’s heading for college with hopes of becoming a social worker. It sure beats living on the streets, having to take care of himself. Now he has a future to contemplate. But he still wanted Reagan, the older man he worked for at Get Ink’d tattoo shop. He would miss his summer job of caring for Giuliana, especially now that she was starting to talk and becoming her own little person. He loved it when she said, “Up, Unkah Channy!” He had also been a big help in the tattoo shop and the others would miss him.

Helping Chris clean up the back yard celebration when everyone left, Channing heard Dane greet Reagan! Reagan had been so kind to him, so patient and understanding – at least until Channing kissed him. He regretted making things feel weird between them now.

Reagan is an older man and, although he wants Channing, he can’t get past the fact that Channing is too young for him. He needs to go to college and get some life experience. But three years later, Channing is back and takes a short-term job while on break. Reagan still tries to avoid Channing. But when someone else starts to flirt and tries to get Channing’s attention, Reagan needs to make his move or lose Channing. Channing is no longer the kid, but is a mature young man who knows what is important to him. Will Reagan make the move Channing has been waiting for? Will he see that Channing knows what he wants without doubt? Or will he still push him away and lose him forever?

Too bad the distance did nothing to ease the tensions or expand the dating possibilities between both men. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Fast forward three years...

Regan is exhausted and finally wrapping the up the current season of the show. After Channing left three years prior for college, he'd immerses himself in all things shop. Delusional he made the right decision, why is his heart so burdened by all of this?

Channing left the get "the experience and maturity" at college he needed but fought every step of the way. Unfortunately he could not get the hot, tattooed older man off his mind and out of his dreams. After staying away for three years to nearly complete his degree, but unhappy with the closely held finish line, he decides to come home for the summer.

An opportunity awaits both men that will change their future forever. Reagan thought it was Channing who wasn't mature enough to handle the dynamic in their relationship. As it turns out, Reagan left more than enough room to show his lack of response in that area. Can both men hold on to their new found happiness? It will take Reagan letting go of a massive demon in his past.

Book three was an intensely steamy, and heartfelt read. Add in a little laughter and protectiveness and is the perfect addition to the Get Ink'd series. Ready for Mateo and Bryan's book.

This book is so beautifully written that it could be a picture book! Whilst there is a lot of art talk the descriptive writing drew pictures in my mind that made me want to be able to see what I was reading. I really wish I could see what the author was seeing!!

This book is a slow burn romance but that doesn't mean it's boring; I really didn't want to put it down and only did put it down at 2am because my eyes wouldn't stay open any longer. The characters can only be described as beautiful creatures who have been pulled from the writer's very special bag of tricks. They have weaved a journey of discovery from two different age perspectives with what appears to be very little effort. The story whilst at a slow pace does move steadily. The main characters have a secondary family cast who are fully engaged in the story to a point that they are totally integral to the story so that if just one character wasn't there something would definitely be missing from the book.

There is obvious planning and research through out the book giving it depth and warmth as well as the obvious sexual heat between the main pair.

I totally loved this book from page one and recommend that you add it to your Kindle library today. I'll be picking up the first book in the series that I missed. xx
