Seriously…no…it can’t be. He always treated me like a dirty little secret. And now he’s my boss.
Twelve years ago, John McQueen promised we’d stay friends after one delicious night together. It’s impossible to forget his god-like body and piercing blue eyes.
But after being bullied so much, I couldn’t. Getting your heart broken time after time never feels good.
What’s that saying? It hurts me to hate him, But loving him is worse.
And now I have to work for him. I wonder if he’s still the same tempting, awful jerk I fell for.
At this point in my life, With eviction and debt burying me alive, I don’t have an option but to put my big girl panties on, And accept the job.
I thought not falling in love with him again was going to be my only obstacle Boy was I wrong. Seems like he has a little secret of his own…

.Julia Evans has written a 5-star book that is about Lucy and John. Lucy and John had been in high-school together and John was nice to her. Now years later they meet again when Lucy gets a job with his company. She doesn't know when she gets the job that John is the owner. When she finds out, things are a little bit weird. Something happens and John ends up helping Lucy. She finds out that it was him and not the company so she goes to talk to him and this is when she finds out about his daughter Bella. They get together one night after going out for drinks with a group from the company. The next morning she leaves John's place and sends him a message telling him that it was a mistake. John gets upset over this and ignores Lucy when she tries to talk to him. Finally, she gets him to talk with her and she tells him that she did not mean it the way he took it. She tells him how she feels and when John doesn't say anything, she takes it as he doesn't feel the say way and runs from him. She comes back to get things straight and she sees him in the arms of another woman. She feels like a fool for telling him her feelings. She decides that she is done with him. She volunteers to help with a party that the company is having, not realizing that John is the one who plans it. After she finds out she will be working with John, she goes to see him and asks what he wants her to work on. She tells him that she just wants to work and that she lets him know how she feels and after she left he was with another woman. He tells her that the woman is Olivia, his ex, and Bella's mother. John said that they are not together, but Olivia thinks they will get back together. They work things out and she spends part of the weekend with him. On Monday when she walks into the office, Olivia is there waiting on John. She brags about what a good time they had at the party and how they are going away for the weekend. Lucy is mad thinking that after their talk that he is still with Olivia. Will Lucy get over her feelings for John and walk away from him, or will they get things worked out. Can John get Olivia to leave him alone so that he can be with Lucy? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed reading this second Chance romance that has a child an ex. Lucy and Johns chemistry is undeniable but can they get through the twists and turn to get a chance at love. The storyline is well written and kept me entertained.

I received this book via a promo code and this is my honest voluntary review. I've loved stories about high bullies and the love of his lives since Logan Echoll's first kissed Veronica Mars... and this book was right in my happy place. Grown up CEO of Room Publishing, John McQueen has never forgotten the girl who turned him donw and prompted the high school jock to change his ways and be true to himself. Lucy hasn't had the best of luck lately, as the last one in at her publishing house, she's the first to be handed her marching papers whenever the firm hits a financial snag. Fate conspires to give John another chance to get it right with the one who got away, by offering Lucy a job at his publishing firm to make amends for his previous treatment of her. Desperate, she's in debt, and facing eviction if she doesn't, Lucy takes the job. Between awkwardness, personal fears and John's manipulative Ex Olivia... there's plenty of reasons why it might not work out. It was a quick read but a perfect way to spend an afternoon at my craft table, just the right amount of romance, hotness and laughs.
This book has a timeline issue. The two protagonists knew each other 12 years ago, when they were still in high school. In the present, the characters should be somewhere between the ages of 25 and 30, so it doesn’t make logistical sense that Lucy recently graduated from college, just rented her very first apartment, and is hired at her first real job at the same time John is already the self-made CEO/billionaire of the company that hired her.
The author has Lucy literally sobbing in the bathroom because she doesn’t know how to pay her own bills/expenses and doesn’t want to ask her parents for money - which would make far more sense if Lucy were 22, not 30. The author stretched the suspension of disbelief past the breaking point when Lucy cried to her boss at work rather than simply contacting her roommate and landlord to make arrangements for a late payment.
I honestly loved this book. The chemistry between Lucy and John was amazing. It is definately a 5 star read. I only gave it 3 because I read the scene from the next book and I got crazy confused. No where in this book did it ever reference that Brett is John's brother. At the fundraiser it was said that Brett was there, that's it. And when John was talking about finding out about MacGregor's financial issues not ones was it mentioned that Brett was his brother. So I guess the second books first chapter is 3 stars and this first book is 5. I do wish there was more of a complication with Olivia, Julia did amazing building up her character as a spoiled brat, but then it just flaked off to be nothing. Other then all that, it really was an excellent read and I have recommended it to several of my friends. Thank you Julia for a great read!!
I really enjoyed the warmth of this book. Well written in a way that was easy and quick to read but still allowed for the growth and full development of Lucy and John I found my emotions on a rollercoaster in line with the main characters. I cried, felt anger and frustration at Olivia's games, laughed and felt the excitement of the main and second line characters and was definitely not ready to say goodbye to them when the book ended. I couldn't put A Crazy Second Chance down and look forward to more books by Julia Evans

When the past meets the future. This book is about the present day romance with a juice history. These two meet in high school the typical jock and nobody. they share a special moment then it ends and you fast forward to present day where Lucy's life is in turmoil and in walks her white night, but she does not realize it yet. This book was fun and quick and all about how people can change and giving into hope and love can be the answer. i enjoyed this book and recommend it for anyone looking to have a smile on their face after a couple hours.

I enjoyed reading this story, it kept my attention through out the book and had me excited to see how it turned out. I like how some of the chapter went back a few hours/days to see how things where progressing with both characters instead of just changing at the point that ended in previous chapter. I hope to see some over the other characters with their own stories since the characters where so fun to watch help this couple through the ups and downs.

It was a cute story but the details in the timeline and characters were off. If John was only a year behind Lucy and shes 30 what did she do for 7years after college shes only 6 months into get career and hes built a company become a CEO and has a toddler. He’s obviously been out of college atleast 4 years if you go by the story details. As a CEO John isnt the brightest bulb in the box if he can’t deal with his ex how had he managed to become a CEO. Too many things just dont add up. Not very believable
This was a great second chance where actions of John's youth come back to haunt you but also gives him a chance to make it right and finally get Lucy to say yest to going out with him. This had a good mix of laughs, awkwardness, sweetness , forgiveness and characters you will love. I can't wait to read more in this series and meet more of the McQueens!

Cute second chance story. Lucy is the new kid at school. Meets John, the popular football player. Good start....... not so much because of silly high school nonsense. 12 years later, because Lucy needs a job, the two get to meet again. Typical plot, but good story. Well rounded characters and storyline with no cheating or cliffhanger. Yes ...... there's a happy ever after. Enjoy 🤓
A Crazy Second Chance is a story about righting the mistakes from the past, overcoming hurt and betrayal and working to keep a new relationship strong even when a persistent ex makes it difficult. There is a lot of story in the book and it keeps you entertained from beginning to end. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by Julia Evans.

Lucy and John had gone to school together but he was a bully to her, she wouldn’t date him because of the way he had been to her. But with that statement she made him want to change himself for the better. Later she was hired by his publishing company and the past got put away. The problems that they had got ironed out for them! New author for me and loved her book!
very good story line with likeable characters. first time reading this author wont be my last....I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Definitely crazy. Amazing second chance. Lucy changed John years ago but also still today. This book was sweet and crazy. It had the crazy ex and the sweet little girl. John and Lucy just had to work through their past. Great book n
It started 12 years ago with a one night stand in high school. Now 12 years later and Lucy is offered a job working a job with John. That's when you get your happily ever after.

The only change I would make in this story would be for Lucy to be more mature and not runaway when things got tough. John has worked hard and made himself into a better more compassionate person than he was in high school.
I liked Lucy & John's book. Great chemistry. This was an intriguing read. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
A sweet story of John having done wrong by Lucy back in high school. He's changed a lot since then and works to prove it to Lucy, because she has always been...the one who got away.
A lot of romance and only a little bit explicit, this was an engaging read. I loved every minute of the book, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a character driven story. Lucy blossoms through the chapters, and John, already maturing from the actions of his past, strengthens with Lucy in his life. Julia Evans is an author to follow!

Loved the first instalment of the McQueens. Lovely how Lucy and John come back together after being at school together. Great also to see how much impact Lucy has had on Johns life despite not seeing him for 12 years. Thoroughly enjoyed reading another great story.
