It is 1864. As William T. Sherman ignites Atlanta and begins his dreadful march to the sea, a young woman in Savannah, Celestine Bell, discovers the General's weaknesses (pretty faces and a penchant for fire) and uses them to lure him into her web where she gains from him a promise to leave her home town, the city of Savannah, untouched by fire and securely maintained by a retainer force. In Ms. Bell, the fearsome General "meets his match."
