Cross Talking: A Daily Gospel for Transforming Addicts

Rate this book
A “transformation” is God’s answer for any and all types of “addiction” and it is only found at the foot of the Cross where Jesus was crucified. This transformation process begins when we are no longer thinking the way the world thinks, but instead are thinking about and viewing life as God thinks and views it. This new way of thinking comes from saturating our minds with Scripture. Cross Talking is a 45-day devotional that will teach you God’s perspective on “what is the will of God, what is good, and acceptable and perfect.” Dr. Mark Shaw is the Founder and President of Truth in Love Ministries (www.histruthinlove.org), an equipping and counseling ministry which operates through local churches using an innovative team approach to ministry. He has earned both a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Counseling and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Birmingham Theological Seminary. He has held biblical counseling certification with the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC) since 2002, and has been a certified Master’s Level Addiction Professional (MLAP) with the Alabama Association of Drug and Alcohol Addiction since 1999. Dr. Shaw lives in the greater Birmingham area with his wife, Mary, and their four children.

Shaw is pretty popular in the field of counseling those struggling with habitual sexual problems.

I struggled through reading this devotional of 45 days.

I was surprised not to hear much about the Gospel in combating sexual sin. Not to say it wasn't there but I didn't read a strong emphasis on it.

Looking forward to reading other works by Shaw as some friends speak highly of his work.

I just wasn't overly impressed with this devotional. The illustrations could have been stronger in my opinion.
