They say love is blind. Abandoned when her mother chose the streets over motherhood, Aniqa’ is a young woman who’s had enough of no love. She loved her first love, Je’Marcus, past his flaws; even stayed loyal each time he failed to put her first. Giving her all to love him past his pain, Aniqa allows Je’Marcus to become her lifeline-her everything. But when the smoke clears and those blinders come off, Aniqa finds herself living a heart-breaking nightmare.
Hoping to give her baby girl, Essence, the world, Aniqa is faced with a tough decision: move on from Je’Marcus’ abusive love drought, or stay blindly committed to betrayal and pain. There’s just one problem, though: the only way Je’Marcus plans to let her go is through death.
Linc is like a quiet storm: low key, calculated, and the one you never see coming. A man who’s loyal to his paper, he wants no parts of the L word. Determined to take his father’s business to the next level, he plays it close to the chest when dealing with women. Careful to pick the girls who don’t expect a commitment, Linc has one main rule: no chicks with kids, but that all goes out the window when he meets Aniqa. Her natural beauty and heart of gold bring Linc to his knees, and he knows he has to have her—no matter who has to die in the process.
Crushed is what you feel when love don’t love you back, but Linc just might be the one to renew Aniqa’s faith in love when she finds herself Crushin’ on a Boss...
I wear several hats, fill many roles, and never manage to get enough sleep. My life has the perfect balance of chaos and calm, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm an author, blogger, editor, journalist, and screenwriter with big plans to ride my #bookDreams just as far as they'll take me; hopefully, all the way to the top. Long before I was an author, I was a reader, so I inhale life and digest it as the muse for my next bestseller. Can't wait to hear what you think of it :) My biggest success to date? Having my very first published novel, I Should've Cheated, in production to become a web series. #BossMoves
I'm a pretty chill chick with a simple mantra: #writeOrDie. If I think it, I WILL write it... God put me on this rock to do many things, and I plan to change the world one story at a time. I'll always be that rowdy lil' diva from the East coast, but I'm LOVING this #islandLife in the natural, breathtaking beauty of Hawaii... think I might say goodbye to the mainland and perfect my #beachBum vibe... as long as I have my family and my furbaby, Kardi, by my side (and the color pink), the sky is the limit!
I could not put up with JeMarcuse ass the way he would beat on a female a mother of his child and don't give a care in the world how her feelings are this book was really good
That how I felt reading this book. Aniqa had so little self esteem it was hard to read. Domestic abuse is complicated and in her case she’s been a victim since she was young so it probably made it harder. However I couldn’t understand how she could still be in that house. Her constant rationalization was exhausting. Unlike a lot of people she had a support system in Bee and her mother. Why she would still want to have a family with an abusive person was beyond me. She kept using her daughter as an excuse for not leaving but her daughter’s issues were probably linked to her environment. This attitude of needing a man was depressing. However bad Marcus was, starting a friendship with Linc instead of disappearing with her daughter was disappointing. I hope book 2 will show her real transformation.
This story took me through the motions! I’m hoping Aniqa pulls through and that her baby is ok! What she is going through is legit heartbreaking! Nobody deserves to be beat on and spoken to like they mean nothing! This was a great read and I hope this is a series when the woman leaves alive instead of dead or extremely hurt her baby needs her! Her daughter sperm donor is garbage and so is his family! I hope Linc handle him asap! Linc Linc Linc 🫦🫦🫦 the way he came in applying pressure!!!! He gone be an amazing step dad to Essence!
I’m 6% into this book and I already see where it’s going. Like got damnit what’s up with these weak a$$ women? I don’t have to finish to know this stupidity is going to carry on for a majority of the book. I am not going to finish reading this, I hate when there is a weak MFC for a majority of a story. It’s a shame to because the cover was everything and I wanted to love this because of the man on the cover lol.
I feel sorry for this chick she is in an abusive relationship and has no family except her baby, but now she has a chance to go to college and be with a man that will treat her right but she is afraid that if she leaves her boyfriend friend will kill her, but if she don't he might kill her have to read part 2
oh wee I couldn't fathom her getting beat that many times I hope in the next few books she gets her power back like In one of my favorite movies Enough played by Jennifer lopez and do him real good if her boo thang don't get him first also always in some books that's most surely how a plot ends that'll be some shit though if they are brothers but it's does make a wonderful storyline.
My first read by this author and I was not disappointed at all. This read was very emotional, deep, and heartfelt. I look forward to reading more of her work.
This was a good read I felt so sorry for niqu because she went through alot. Most women in that situation find it hard to leave. The fact that she been with him since she was 14 he messed up her mind and trained he to believe that they were all she has. I hope babygirl is ok and niqu get her happy ending with Linc and I hope he take his ass out
Crushin’ on A Boss is a great story written by Tysha in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It centers around the abusive relationship between two young parents, Aniqua & Je’Marcus (Marcus).
Aniqua is a young mother who's stuck in an abusive relationship. Unhappy and wanting to leave, she's afraid of the outcome that will follow. She's more concerned about her little girl, Essie, than her own life. I mean who can blame her? My child would be my top priority as well.
I loved the way Tysha presented this story. It was visually written and paid attention to detail. She touched basis on the abuse Aniqua went through & why. More importantly, she showed how and why it was so hard for Aniqua to just pick up & leave from her abusive relationship; something most people don't & can't understand.
I was able to read this story all in one setting. It touched my heart because no one should go through what Aniqua was going through. It also touched my heart because I just went through a similar situation as well. So many women are abused, yet no one knows about it but a select few. That goes to show the saying, ‘No one knows what goes on behind closed doors’ is so true.
I loved Beautiful’s character. She was so down to earth & a real backbone for Aniqua. Their friendship, Essie & her education & dreams kept Aniqua pushing.
When Linc came into Aniqua’s life, it was like a breath of fresh air for her. Although it scared the shit out of her, she still embraced it. I really do believe that he will be good for her & will be more motivation for her to get out of her awful situation. At least, I hope so. I also believe that if he knew the details of Aniqua & Marcus’ relationship, he would definitely handle it without a second thought.
I'm looking forward to reading part 2 as soon as it's available and I highly recommend that you all read this book, the entire series. That cliffhanger at the end has me itching in anticipation for more. I have to know what's going to become of this nightmare Aniqua is living in.
This is a good beginning of a good story. Emotional at times I can't wait to see what happens next. I am enjoying the characters, that are likeable, interesting and one is definitely crazy. Definitely can't wait for part two.
I swear Aniqa couldn't catch a break. Je'Marcus was like so many other sorry dudes. He wanted Aniqa to hold things down and control her in a sense but still do what he wants with little to no respect. Ms. Shirlene needs to crook right along with her trifling kids. I loved the friendship between Aniqa and Beautiful but they both needed to take heed to each others advice. I'm curious to know what could possibly go on in little Essence's head and if anything is truly wrong with her. I liked Paxton but it's safe to say I like Linc more. I'm hoping his last pop up wasn't the root of any problems. I can't wait until Aniqa finally realizes she isn't experiencing love from Je'Marcus and needs to create a better life for her and her child. I got a feeling Mique is on some shady bs and I'm ready to see if she's as shady as she seems. I enjoyed the read because it's so easy for others to tell a person to leave when they don't know the extent of what they go through, what their mental state is behind the issues, if it's worth the repercussions, or if they've dealt with problems so long that they actually confuse it as really being love. I'm hoping Aniqa can get herself and Essence out of the situation, Linc proves to be more than just talk, honestly Ms. Shirlene gets what she deserves, Je'Marcus catches a hot one, Aniqa finally gives a boss a chance, and Aniqa finally stands up for herself and stops being someone's doormat.
This book got 5 stars because for once I've read a book that doesn't all turn out the same thus far. I love Niq I hope things don't turn out to bad for her. I dislike Marcus and everything he stands for he knows what he's doing to Niq and he doesn't care. Shirlene is no better with her over grown self how can you turn a blind eye to your son putting his has on a woman. Essie reminds me so much of my niece I love her little self. Beautiful seems like a friend for a lifetime I do hope her and Niq can move forward from both situations they are in. Paxton seems like someone you can walk all over hopefully we can find out more on his story. Linc seems like the type of dude I would fall in love with but in still I don't know his full story. I can't wait to see where this story is going to take us but I am in love so far
Wow!!! This was a very, very good story! Tysha definitely goes into depth about Aniqa and JeMarcus's abusive relationship. I found it difficult to read sometimes because no woman should go through what she goes through. I understand why she is afraid to leave but at the same time I wish she would choose a better life and stand up for herself. I absolutely love Lincoln and his alpha male tendencies. He is so sexy. I hope Aniqa will choose him and get herself out of JeMarcus' mom house. Can't wait for part 2!!! That cliffhanger has me hanging by a thread!
I was given this ARC in exchange for a honest review.
Great read, it hit a topic that a lot of people go through on a daily bases but it's all they know and no one to go to so they accept it. Niq is so lost and don't know anything besides jeMarcus and feel and can't leave. Her best friend beautiful wants her to find someone that's go love her and her daughter so she can forget about Marcus so she assist Linc anyway possible to get her. With JeMarcus upset and threatening to kill her and her daughter missing Niq doesn't know what to do. Did Marcus find about niq abs Linc lunch date or is he just in one of his moods to abuse her.Cant wait for part 2 to see how it all plays out.
You have done it again and I am so ready for part 2! Je’Marcus, neither his mom, nor his sister are worth a darn! Who sits there and allows a man to beat a woman and, even starts stuff to cause violence. I was so glad when Aniqa met Linc and, I hope she decides to be with him. I love Beautiful character; she will do anything to help her friend out. The way Je’Marcus did Aniqa at the end, made me want to jump in the book at whip him one good time. Please let someone come to her rescue and, allow her and the baby to get away safely. I think that the reason their child will not speak, is out of fear. Essie is seeing and hearing all and, she is probably very terrified.
This book had my emotions all over the place. A real rollercoaster of a read. As a victor of domestic violence, I could feel Aniqa's pain. Je'Marcus is the scum of the earth. I hope that someone does to him everything that he did to her. His mom and sister need to get what is coming to them as well. Aniqa has a true friend in Beautiful. She keeps it real. I really like Linc. I think that he is good for her. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.
I enjoyed this book but I must say I feel so bad, but angry at the same time. Nique has to get a backbone and think about her daughter as well as her life. Linc is really into her but what's going to happen once her punk ass baby daddy finds out? The way he beat her in the end he probably knows already. I hope she's strong enough to walk away. ...
This was an interesting and good read. The storyline was good and realistic. The story came out clear, it flowed and it captured your interest from page one. It was well written. I would more look at this book as the introduction to what is yet to come as the drama had really now began. Can't wait for part two.
The WAY Aniqa was treated was down right disrespect and his mother and sister knew wat WAS going on and still stood by and watch. Women like his mother and sister old bitter no life having women get on my nerves. And the way he beat on her MAD ME beyond MAD. Can't wait till she pack up and leave . Wondering wat Linc sister and dad is hidden from him.
I feel where Ankia coming from when dealing with domestic violence it can be hard to get out when you are in fear and in love with someone. I've been there b4 but a swoll eye did it 4 me. How could she go thru all those hospital visits and not get out. They bogus living them for dead.
This was such a good story.. Unfortunately people go thru this everyday.. I feel so bad for Aniqa.. To be sick in a situation like that has to be extremely stressful.. I hope Linc can be tha 1 she needs and helps her realize she deserves so much more than what Je'Marcus is offering.. Plz let he baby be OK..
I hope she gives Linc a chance and leave her abusive relationship. I wonder how has her daughter, where is his sister and lastly y did he come home n jump on her not knowing y she kept calling him. I bet he's gonna feel bad when he hears what's happened to his mom. I can't wait to read part 2 to c what happens and if she's finally gonna leave or stay
I hope everyone that read this book that know someone in a relationship with a bum that put there hands on them to get out there is places that can help you.No on deserves to be hit or talk to like
So many questions! Where's Essence? What happened to Shirleen? Will Aniqa get her blessing or will Je'Marcus make good on his threat? And most importantly: who is Linc's sister creeping with? Need part 2!
I just wish that Aniqa would leave Marcus! The whole book she just miserable bc of him dang I wish she would've been able to beat the Toya chic up...I want her and Linc together and hopefully they aren't related since they look so much alike..
